Earlier today I read a post tread about animals being seen on disney property. Someone said they spotted a alligator somewhere near the Beach Club under a bridge if I'm not mistaken:( We are staying at CBR this July and I must say before I read the post about the snakes, alligators and the  bob cat:eek: somewhere near OKW:( I'm not that excited about going now:( I am really really fretting over this:( I'm not going to cancel my vacation (I would not dare hurt my kids because of this) but, I am really freaking out because of this. Can anyone tell me if there have ever been an incident where alligators or snakes have been sighted in CBR beach water or on the property:( I can deal with the snakes as long as it's going the opposite direction from me:o the alligator and crocs are another story
  Also Birds for some reason have a tendency to crap on me for some reason(Like when I got off of work one day stopped @ the store was dressed in my new suit and low and behold about a zillion seagulls flew off the roof of the store and crap was falling everywhere  People were running and screaming I had crap all over my suit (thank God it missed my head;) but the funny thing about it is when i walked in my front door the first thing my husband said"HOney You looked like you just been crapped on!" and he didn't even know what happened until i Told him:p :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc

Surely noone has had a bad experience. I think that would for sure be posted. I think the named animals would just as soon leave you alone as you would them. *G* Also, like animals in a zoo these animals (if they exsit) are use to people everywhere...... relax and get ready to have the time of your life.

I may not be of much help, but since no one replied I will. I have never seen any animal other than the little lizards while at Disney. I am sure that at some point there may be an alligator around (your in Floriday, remember). Keep in mind that millions of people travel to and stay at Disney World, if there are any animals on property I am sure that they have people to take care of that. I certainly let it ruin your vacation.
We have used the water sprites in the seven seas lagoon and the only animals I have seen were birds.
Go on your vacation and have fun, there won't be any alligators traveling in the park.

O.k think about this WDW is amulti-million dollar company. Now if a alligator bit off your pinkey you sue them for all they have. Heck I think I want to do that!:D Also I read in a thread that if you see a baby croc and tell the cm he is history!:D
Hope this helps:)

The only animal I've seen, besides birds of course, was an armadillo running around near our Wilderness Cabin. :D :D Do NOT worry for one second about animals, you are going to have a great vacation!

Not much help here either, but the only animals I have seen at Disney are the ones at AKL or Animal Kingdom...I have seen an occasional deer "back stage" before when my Dad has taken us the "back way" into Disney, but that is about it...

On our last trip I saw an alligator on Tom Swayer Island. I told one of the raft CM's who in turn gave me a strange look--so I pulled my trusty digital camera out of its bag and let him see for himself. Pest controll CM's are brought in to get rid of the gator. Now the good part of the story----The pest control CM's starting throwing rocks at the gator--gator goes in the water--pest control leaves---gator crawls back up on the bank by the water mill where he/she spends the rest of the afternoon. Go figure. :D :D :D PattyN

A very long time back we spent one summer in Mississippi. There were alligators everywhere, we were told if one started to come after us we should run in a zig zag motion. Alligators have a hard time turning fast because of their tail, so the zig zaging slows them down.
I hope this little bit of information sets you mind at ease. Don't consume your vacation time being on the look out for alligators, just keep your eyes open around the lakes. And have a great trip!

In 1997 when we were at POFQ there was a snake in the pool. The pool was cleared right away and someone came and got it out. Although it may not be common, it seems they have had it happen before, all the CM's knew what to do and 2 men came with special equipment to get the snake out of the water. It all took less then 20 minutes, the pool was re-opened and everyone started swimming again. That is the only time we have seen anything other then birds, squirrels etc. "roaming" the grounds at WDW. So relax, and have a great trip!

I was one of the ones that mentioned the alligator at BC. It was about 6 feet long and it was in the canel under the bridge that walks over to the bus stop (I have a picture!) We spotted it one day, and then again the next day further down the canel a bit. Good news is that it never came up the hill! I think it wants to be left alone just as much as we want to leave it alone so don't worry!

I've only seen lizards, birds, bunnies, toads and an armadillo. I dislike any creepy crawly things, but I've never considered not going to Disney because of them. When in and around watere keep an eye out otherwise just relax and have fun. I don't think most gators want to deal with humans if they don't have to!:D

When I stayed at the CBR a long long time ago, there was a big, brown snake right at the entrance to the resort. Luckily, I was in a bus and the snake was outside!:p

We stayed at OKW last July and saw 2 snakes. One was down by the main pool & the other was by the quite pool at turtle pond. They told us that it had rained so much that it was common to see some snakes. We are leaving in 6 days & are staying at OKW again. Hope you can put this out of your mind and go and have a great vacation. I know I am.

Last trip we did see a small gator in front of Coronado Springs hotel, just enjoying the sun. Armos are everywhere and at dusk you can see deer roaming the golf courses.
First of all, the chance of attack are small if measurable. Remember to just play it safe, do not bother the gator and 99.98% of the time he/she will not bother you.
Being ascuba diver I have been around sharks and other "large" animals underwater in their habitat many times, dive Masters will always tell you do not provoke thema nd respect then and you will be fine.
Same goes to the land animals. WE got a great picture of teh sunning gator for our photo album.
Go and enjoy WDW, nothing to fear except for Goffy if you are a lillte tike!!! Hey a 9 ft Dog in an orange shirt can be a shocking site to a toddler. :D

I hate any kinds of critters, but no matter where you go on vacation you will have to deal with something. Ocean, mountains, desert, even someones back yard. I wouldn't worry about it. Have fun!

I'm one of those who's seen gators at WDW (around Shades of Green). It's Florida, there's water, this is where they live. We also see them when we go to the Carolina coast. Mostly they are just lying in the sun trying to stay warm. You're not going to stumble over them unexpectedly in the dark, which is about the only situation where they might take a nip at you.
When the gators get too big or too close, Disney captures and relocates them.

Just so you know, you aren't allowed to go into any water at WDW except the pools. All those beaches you see at CBR, GF, Poly, etc are all for show -- you aren't allowed to go in the water and there are signs posted all over telling you to stay out of the water. The reason is because of alligators and snakes. You will see people wading despite the signs, but that is because they are crazy. You don't have to be one of those people!

Princess Ariel I hope you don't take offense to this but when I read your post about the birds "crapping" on you and everyone running and screaming I could not keep my laughter inside! I was busting up over here!! I know it was not funny when it happened but something about the way you wrote it made me bust a gut!!
Did anyone else think so???? Anyway thanks for the laugh and I too was scared of the whole gator thing last summer. I did see one in the water very far away from people. Don't worry chances are you won't even see one. But now birds are another story. I'll be keeping my eye out and if I see a woman screaming and running in a zig zag formation I will try to come to your rescue!!:D

We were there over Easter and the only thing to watch out for
are the Ducks! I am also one that the birds like to pick on. One almost
hit me in the head when he was flying by for his landing!
Don't worry, the only animals we saw were ducks, rabbits, bunnies,
and a geco.
Enjoy your trip!
You'll love the resort

I remember this one time at the magic kingdom I saw this giant mouse walking with a giant duck. It was the craziest thing. They had clothes on and were waiving to people. It scared me to death!! I just ran for the hills. Ok, Ok...enjoy your vacation. Wild animals are the last thing you need to worry about. The birds are another story....

gabylin, I agree. the way Ariel wrote it, I was chuckling the whole way through. When I read what her husband said I was laughing out loud and so hard other people at work looked up at me.
Ariel, I'm sorry about your new suit, but the story itself is funny the way you tell it.

Guys thank you so much for easing my fears:) I will keep a look out especially at night but, I do plan on enjoying myself:bounce: As far as the story i told about being crapped on:o it should have been on America's Funniest Videos:) It's just like the time when my family and I lived in Wisconsin and were on our way back home. I was driving our SUV and as I was slowing down for the toll booth out of no where a bird flew smack dab into the passenger door  My husband who was asleep on the passenger side chained smoked the rest of the way home:p Of course my family still get a laugh out the BIRD CRAP STORY :). It seems as if I have a bird magnet or something I don't know:p Thanks again for the replys I really appreciate all your help. My husband is sitting here laughing now:rolleyes: :p :)

Hi PrincessAriel...my poor dh knows just how you felt! There he was, just sitting on our deck, entertaining friends, having a nice cold drink, when along comes a bird. Yep, pooped right on his arm, about 6 inches away from his cheeseburger  As far as wdw critters go, we've seen armadillos, deer, the ever present ducks, bunnies, geckos, and just once an alligator. But he was in a canal and I was on the Monorail:) Just this morning I was talking to a friend at work and she told me of an incident she had with a snake. I guess she scared the beejeebers out of the poor thing. So....go and have a terrific time. Just stay out of unchlorinated water!!
About 5 years ago, our bus driver pointed out an alligator on the edge of lake as we were entering CBR's main entrance. He told us that when they are sighted, Disney retricts access to the area until animal control can move it. We have also seen armadillo, but they weren't interested in us.
This past Jan, we saw a snake on the sidewalk right in front of the counter service restaurant in Morrocco. People were crowded around like he was a Disney Character!

We've seen an animal or two--but truly the place isn't crawling with gators and snakes.
I'm more afraid of the "animals" that are prowling around Baltimore and Harrisburg---.

We have seen deer, snakes and alligators and that's just in one round of golf at Oak Trail, near SOG. They didn't bother us and we certainly didn't bother them.

I'm the person who posted on the other thread about my son being asked by a CM at Blizzard Beach to hand him a snake. (I haven't read all the responses, just the initial post so forgive me if I am repeating something others have said.)
While it kinda made me gasp, my son loved the whole thing! It was only a passing thing on my part because it was obvious to me the CM was very familiar with the snake (and by extension other snakes). So I felt assured that the CM knew for a fact the snake was not dangerous.
Also, when we saw the alligator he was being "escorted" by WDW security!
We have been to WDW 8 times and this sums up our "dangerous" animal experiences. We did see a deer once at Ft. Wilderness, squirels are everywhere as are all sorts of birds - and I had some birds crap on me at Discovery Island (no longer exists).
There is nothing to be afraid of! It is Florida, so it shouldn't be so shocking that gators may be living in lakes and/or rivers. But knowing Disney, I imagine they are super aware of gator activity on their property! Just do your swimming in the CBR pool and everything will be fine.

This past January, we saw an alligator walking from one body of water to another as you drive into the MK parking lot (outside of Ticket and Transportaion). He was probably 5 to 6 feet long. We stopped and my husband backed up quickly but it saw us and jumped into the water fast. I hoped to get a picture but was unable. I remember that I was thinking if we are parked by the canal between the different parking areas that we better walk slowly to our car at the end of the day! The day before, we were parked right beside the canal.

Just got back from BC - there were those cute little lizards everywhere (they scoot out of your way) and a whole bunch of ducks at Stormalong Bay (in the pools a couple of mornings!), but no dangerous fauna!!
