anaheim to Lego Land- what time to leave

We will be taking a day trip to Legoland from Hojo Anaheim on Thursday April 23rd. What time should we plan to leave the hotel in Anaheim if we want to be at the park for opening at 10?
And how bad will traffic be on our return North?
Oh and on the off chance we decide to push our trip to friday, are we committing commuting suicide in dealing with friday traffic?

We left about 8:30 a.m. and got there at 10 a.m. We stayed until about 4:30 and hit a little traffic on the way home, but nothing bad. I would not know about a Friday but I would expect the traffic to be much worse.

We left our Anaheim hotel on a Monday morning at 8:15, and we arrived in the Legoland parking lot at about 9:30.....plenty of time for the 10am opening. We never hit any traffic down, but maybe we were lucky. The park closed at 5pm, and we figured there would be traffic on the way back to Anaheim. So we left Legoland and ate dinner nearby. After leaving the restaurant, we had no traffic issues heading back up north.

Last year I posted a topic here asking about restaurants near Legoland. Someone replied that if you head south on I-5 from Legoland, the next exit had restaurants. There was a Ruby Tuesday, a TGIF, and a Marie Callendars. It was a great tip. Even though we were going to head north on I-5 to go back to Anaheim, it was worth the short drive south.

Thank you both. We will plan to leave at 8, that way we should really be out the door and on our way (must stop for coffee) by 8:30 at the latest.
And, stopping for dinner before we start the trek North is a great idea.
