I forget which of you said you watch GL but thought I would share that CBS has cancelled the show after 72 years on the air...
I grew up watching this so it's heartbreaking to hear, even if I haven't watched it in several years..
Here is the article (http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090401/ap_en_ot/tv_guiding_light;_ylt=AuvgqzXD1EisDckwWNF7_0l8FxkF ;_ylu=X3oDMTE5cWFrNDdlBHBvcwMxBHNlYwN5bi1tb3N0LXZp ZXdlZARzbGsDdHZzZ3VpZGluZ2xp)

I hear they are investigating putting it up in other formats---webisodes or maybe on SOAP network. I'm not a GL fan, but its sad for all that are. Generations of people have watched that show.

I saw that article today too. I used to watch GL all the time! I haven't watched in years - I don't care for soaps anymore - but it's sad to see it end after all these years.

We both have watched it for years. I am very sad. When we went to see them everyone mentioned how many years they had watched the show.
I hope someone starts a letter writing campaign to save the show.

I watched this shows for years! If I am home at that time I will generally have it on in the background. Don't really sit and watch it anymore. Sad to see it being canceled after all these years.

That is what I do. I listen to it in the background and then run in if I think I need to see something.

Wow....I haven't watched it in years, but when I was in Jr. High & High School, I watched it faithfully. I used to record all of the CBS soaps and spend the evening watching them while I did my homework.
This is sad news. It's hard to imagine that any other program will ever come close to matching it's longevity.

I watched for a little while yesterday...it was nice to see Phillip back. But this whole Reva pregnant story line is crazy. How old is she? 55? Not that 55 is old but to be pregnant?

Oh...and with the end in sight will they wrap all the story lines up? I mean Josh and Reva belong together. I don't think I really care about anything other than that. But Josh and Reva have to ride off into the sunset together or all is not right with the world.

I don't know if Reva and Josh should ride off together. I have been enjoying her with Jeffrey.
I do agree that Reva and Josh have a special relationship.

I'm so sad about this! This is one of my guilty pleasures and I have watched the show since I was 11. I haven't liked the changes in the last year, but I had faith that things would improve.....:sad2:

From what I'm reading online, the powers that be at ABC are salivating to pick off some of the actors from GL for their shows, but they aren't doing so well either. Apparently soaps are very expensive to produce. Its much cheaper to put up a game show or a talk show. But you may see your favorite Guiding Light actors on other shows.
Unemployment has made me a soap fan again. I gotta get a job!
