Toyota Sports Center/ DL & DCA

We visited CA once a couple years ago and stayed in Newport Beach. In 2010 we going with another family and the Mom's are taking DD's to a figure skating camp that lasts for a week @ the Toyota Sports Center in El Segundo camp is from 8-2pm. Then we would go to DL/DCA in the evening. Should we stay onsite or can someone recommend elsewhere to stay. We will be going the 1st week of August.

That is really tough. I know where the rink is (I drive down there all the time to get my daughter's blades sharpened there), and would not recommend staying around there. There is really no good place to stay in El Segundo or any of the places around the rink. I would probably stay in Santa Monica/Venice Beach area, or if you want, stay close to Disneyland. Either way, you are looking at a drive on the 405, which is a very busy freeway. You would be going to the rink during morning commute, but would leave way before rush hour starts.
