Hi & welcome to my PTR!!!:flower3:

Some of you may have read my last PTR/TR from this past December when we took 6 kids under the age of 6 to WDW? If so, hi again and if not, thanks for joining me!!:goodvibes

My name is Kristen (36) and since finding DIS, I have become an official Disney addict. I was on my way on my own but DIS officially pushed me over the edge! As I tell my DH (Todd), there could be worse addictions!! LOL!!:lmao: I'm a stay at home Mom to three beautiful boys, Ethan (6), Lucas (4) and Cole (21 mos.) and stay very busy with t-ball, playdates, laundry, cleaning the house, cooking meals, and oh ya, DIS!!;) I have been to Disney a handful of times, 3-4 times as a child with my parents, sister and family friends, once with my friend when we graduated high school in 1991, on our honeymoon in 2000, Todd & I took our boys for the first time in 9/07 and then again this past December with my BFF, Tracey, and her family for a magical holiday vacation. :santa: Here is a picture from our last trip...we are the family on the left side (with all the boys!!):

http://i704.photobucket.com/albums/ww50/princessher4princes/Image249.jpg

Speaking of the holidays, when laying in bed on Christmas night with my DH, I said I wish we had a ton of money and we could afford to take Mom to Disney World for her 60th birthday. My sister lives in SC and for the last 10 years, we haven't all been in the same state to have that quality time, so I knew it would mean the world to my Mom. We all have such fond memories as a family going and she hasn't been back in at least 10 years, so he said "look into it"...does he not know what that means for a DIS addict?:confused3 So, with my wheels spinning, I did and found a great little package and quickly called my sister in SC to see what she thought. Now, neither of us have a lot of money, we're a one income family with young children, my sister is on a tight budget in SC with her husband but we made it work!:wizard: We are taking my Mom 9/14-18/09 to POP for an early birthday present!!!!:cloud9: The boys will not be joining me on this trip, my DH is the best husband in the world and is graciously letting me go with my Mom & sister alone for an all girls week in Disney! I'm so looking forward to the quality time with my mother and my sister, it means the world that he is doing this for us.

Stay tuned to see our surprise and some pictures of the three girls!! Thanks for joining!!:cutie:

So I told you my sister lives in SC and my Mom & I both live in Massachusetts...well, Jodi (my sis) was up visiting in mid February and we decided since this would be the only time we could surprise Mom, we better do it now while we're all together.

Jodi and her DH were staying at my parents and they "kidnapped" Mom and told her they were taking her to my place, I planned a little lunch for everyone and we surprised Mom with that trip. Here are a few pics of the things we did to surprise her:

http://i704.photobucket.com/albums/ww50/princessher4princes/Miscdisney011.jpg

http://i704.photobucket.com/albums/ww50/princessher4princes/Miscdisney010.jpg

the gift bag we put her Disney goodies into:
http://i704.photobucket.com/albums/ww50/princessher4princes/Miscdisney007.jpg

the goodies inside:
http://i704.photobucket.com/albums/ww50/princessher4princes/Miscdisney006.jpg

http://i704.photobucket.com/albums/ww50/princessher4princes/Miscdisney005.jpg

http://i704.photobucket.com/albums/ww50/princessher4princes/Miscdisney009.jpg

http://i704.photobucket.com/albums/ww50/princessher4princes/Miscdisney001.jpg

And here is the card, inside we wrote "Happy 60th birthday, Mom, let's recreate memories, we're taking you to WDW!" and it played Wishes. We also included a picture of the 3 of us from our last trip to Disney World together, that of course, Mom cried when she saw and read our note....

http://i704.photobucket.com/albums/ww50/princessher4princes/Miscdisney003.jpg

And here is the picture of us from Disney world (sometime in the 80s?)
http://i704.photobucket.com/albums/ww50/princessher4princes/Moremarch060.jpg
(Jodi, Mom, Me)-- Don't laugh too hard!!:rotfl:

And here is some pictures more recent of us all.....and there aren't even that recent (from my wedding in 2000!), since we all live in different areas, we don't have many pics of us all together, but with this trip, I hope that will change!!

(Jodi & I)
http://i704.photobucket.com/albums/ww50/princessher4princes/Moremarch062.jpg

and my family (Mom, Dad, me, Jodi)
http://i704.photobucket.com/albums/ww50/princessher4princes/Moremarch063.jpg

So there is the surprise! Mom was just thrilled and couldn't get over it....she coudn't believe I could get away from the boys that long, that Todd was willing to take time off from work to watch the kids so I could go, that Jodi could meet us there and that my Dad knew about the whole thing without slipping!! Thanks Dad!!:goodvibes

Coming up next...details, details......

Mom was SO excited and kept saying "is this really happening?"....she was beside herself. She hasn't had Jodi & I to herself in 10 years since we've grown up, married, moved away, came back, moved away again, so she is thrilled! And we are, too!!;)

I know! I get that all of time..now that I'm living back in MA and I run into people where my Mom lives, they will stop me and ask me if I'm her daughter (without her being there or even knowing me...like if they went to high school with her or something!!) it's crazy!!

So I left you off with us surprising my Mom, it was so exciting to finally have the cat out of the bag, so to speak. My sister, Todd and my Dad have been talking about this for about a month before Mom knew so this now meant, I could FINALLY talk about things!!!!!!! And no one was stopping me....and they still aren't!! LOL!:rotfl: It's a good thing I have you guys, cause as much as Mom and Jodi love Disney, they are not addicts like myself.....but they could be in training, if I work on them hard enough. ;)

We are going early a.m Monday, 9/14 and staying until Friday night, 9/18. It's a quick trip, but we'll make the best of it for sure. My Mom and I are flying out of Boston via Delta and Jodi is renting a car and driving to Orlando from Hilton Head. We should (hopefully) get there about the same time on Monday, Mom and I land in Orlando at 10:30ish and hope to be at POP by noontime, so we can meet Jodi and grab some lunch.

I had booked out trip late January through AAA since it was saving me just over $200 compared to Disney (or anyone for that matter!). I've never had a trip booked through anyone other than Disney so being the control freak that I am, it was bothering me somewhat but with the savings, it was worth it...until MONDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You see, I heard from my trusty friends here on DIS that Free dining would be coming out soon and it did for Disney Visa holders last Thurday. I was on top of my TA at AAA and told her rumor had it coming out for everyone else on Monday at 7 a.m. I asked her when she would be in to work on Monday and she said 8:30 a.m. That was okay but for me, the control freak, I was freaking out about that....afterall, I was staying at POP, which tends to be the most popular value resort, and since my sister and I are paying for this trip, any help we can get financially we want it! It means we can spend more money while we're there!!!:thumbsup2 So I was going back and forth with Todd (but mostly, myself!) about calling Monday morning, booking a seperate trip with Disney now and calling for Free dining on Monday....all these different scenarios going on (in my head!). :idea:I decided to see what Disney would quote me now for the same package on Sunday night (about 9:30 p.m) and it was only $50 more than AAA now (weird!!!!),so I booked it! So now I had TWO trips to Disney planned for the 3 of us for the same time at the same place...ugh! My plan was to get up early on Monday (as if I have a choice anyways with three little ones at home....lol!:rotfl:) and try my hardest to get free dining....

I was up at 6 a.m. sharp, turned my computer on to see if any codes had been posted by my very special DIS friends, checked out the Disney website and saw NOTHING! But by 6:45 a.m with rumors flying, it was finally out there. I called at 6:49, no answer, again at 6:52, no answer, and then at 6:59 a.m. I was connected,on hold, but connected!!!! Woohoo!!:dance3: In the meantime, each boy was getting up slowly but surely....uh oh...the house would not be so quiet by the time I connected.....

I got a not very excitable CM on the line (maybe he hadn't had his coffee??) and asked to have free dining applied to my (newest!) ressie, and sure enough, I GOT FREE DINING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!:thumbsup2 I actually let out a scream of delight! We're saving almost $450 by getting this, that's huge!!!! Yay me!!!:yay:

So, what did my TA at AAA find out for me? Well, by 10:15, I hadn't heard from her, so I sent her a quick email asking what she found out, she got the same quote as me, as since there were no advantages of keeping AAA now, I asked that that trip be cancelled. I felt kind of bad, but I was saving no extra money by staying with AAA and now I felt more in control of things, especially now that I had free dining and wanted to be sure come the 90 ADR window, I could call myself and get what I wanted or make decisions on the phone instead of waiting to hear back from her. Plus, the last two trips were booked through Disney direct and I'm confident with how things work. So I'm a very happy camper to say the least and for the record, Jodi and Todd are thrilled, too!!!!!!!!!!!:cheer2:

Stay tuned to see what our plan of attack (as of now!) will be....:flower3:

I'm with ya Kristen! I have to have control too, I'd be a nervous wreck letting someone else take care of things for me :scared:

Congrats on getting free dining! I have a friend who also called Monday morning and booked her trip, the CM she talked to said that online ADRs should be up and running by the time her 90 day window opened up, so keep an eye out for that. It would be so much easier to make them online instead of having to sit on hold forever, and ever, and ever, and ever........

I don't know any specifics, I think it's just something Disney has "in the works". I've seen it mentioned a few times on the Restaurants board, although I don't know how it's going to work or when it's going to be up and running. It's something to watch out for though :thumbsup2

i too am a disney control freak...about 5 trips ago my dh and i booked a trip to disney (first trip my mom didnt book for me) and i went to a travel agent. we booked port orleans well i had just started my true info seeking obsession online and i saw that it was going to be partially closed for renovations (this was right after 9/11). anyway i said if they are doing construction i dont wan to stay there so i started researching and found out that swan and dolphin offered a teacher/nurse discount. since we are both teachers i called to check the rate and they said 109 a night. now i knew it was not true disney but it was a good deal for boat transportation and e ride nights were good there so i went to travel agent and asked her to change ressie. she insistedc there was no such thing. i asked her to look into it and call me back. she did and said it did not exist. i became annoyed and went in with my internet printouts. she said this was rumor and not true. i insisted she call while i was there. she refused and told me that she could no longer handle my travel plans since i was so controlling ( me controlling haha she should see me now with my disboard knowledge) the thing that was terrible is the airfare was still thru them since we didnt want to cancel and pay rebooking fees so when our tickets came in like 3 days before we were to leave the flight was changed from 7:00 am to noon. that was horrible for an overplanner like me i was ballistic. i drove to the airport that day to fight with the ticket agents and convinced them to change me to a flight the night before and not pay a rebooking fee. sure it cost me an extra hotel night but in fuzzy disney math it was more than worth it for a full day in the park. so the moral of this long and very convuluted story is good for you, those of us that are controlling just do better doing it on our own. sorry for hijacking your thread :scared: cant wait to hear morepopcorn::

Hi! Wow, I can't believe that TA treated you like that!!! But you're right, you need to stick to your guns and do what you think is right and we DIS'ers have a lot of info so we're a bit more knowledgable than some TA's think!!! Hi!! Thanks for coming on over!!!:hug:That's a great idea about seeing what decade Mom misses most and see if we can request that. She did mention something today about being close to the computer pool (she's doing her research, yay, Mom!!!) so I'll have to check it out when time gets closer. I didn't get a preferred room this time, didn't want to put out the extra money this time since we're all healthy and can walk just fine but not sure where we should request now!!!

Thanks for the congrats on FD! That is huge!!!! I'm so excited I got it!!!!:dance3:

Hi everyone!!

It's a dreary day here in MA, pouring down rain and just icky....not sure what happened to the gorgeous Spring like weather we had earlier this week.....my yard is turning into a mud pit!!! Not completely the rains fault, we had 17 trees taken out last week and today they started fencing the backyard in so I can keep my boys in the yard to play. I'm SO excited....slowly but surely, things are coming together!!! It will make my life SO much easier with the fence so they kids can play and if I want to just run into the house fast to throw dinner in the over or whatever I don't have to worry about them. Yay!!!:cool1:

Anyways, I wanted to let you know it's going to be a few days before I update again, most likely. I'm heading to VA to see a very old and dear friend for the weekend, ALONE!!!!:cloud9: If any of you are stay at home Mom's, I know you will appreciate that!!! I go once a year to see my friend, Maria, and we do all sorts of girly things...lunch, manicures, pedicures, shopping...none of which any of the men in my life enjoy!! So it's wonderful, plus Maria and I have been friends since we were 12 so we have lots to chat about. It's really fun!!! I may have a chance to update a bit tomorrow, but not sure, depends on how the day goes here and I still need to pack!! It's going to be close to 70 there this weekend, a huge difference from the 40 & 50's here!! So I have to dig out some clothes and get that done, too. If I can, I'll do a quick one but in the meantime, I hope you stick around with me and I promise there is more to come and soon!!!:yay:

Have a great weekend!!!!! ttys!

Oh my gosh! you and your sister look so much like your mother! Especially comparing how you look today to how she looked in the picture taken back in the 80's! I can't wait to read about your trip! It sounds like so much fun! I only have one daughter but what a fun time it would be to have a girls trip only. Not that I don't enjoy having my DH along!

Hey Kristen! I know what you mean about the fence in the backyard. We did that a few years ago and I couldn't be happier about it, especially since I had a daycare at the time. It really does make it so much more relaxing when you are out there. Now that we have Coley I'm loving it even more cause I don't have to worry about him darting off around the house.

Have fun on your trip. I can imagine how much fun that would be. I've never done anything like that. All I've ever really done is a meal out with a friend or like yesterday I went out for lunch w/my mom, her sister (and her daughter), my grandma (and her daughter). It was really nice to have some alone time to catch up with girl talk. We'll be here when you get back.

Hi!! Thanks for joining along!!!:goodvibes I know, it's pretty scarey how much we all look alike, isn't it? People have always said that.....good, bad and indifferent, I"ll know what I'll always look like in 23 years!! LOL!!:rotfl: There is NO mistaken that we're family!!!! As much as I'm looking forward to this trip alone with the girls, I'm seriously feeling guilty about leaving all my boys home, trust me, I"ll get over it the second I get there...but pretty sure I'll have some moments where I'll wish they were with me!!!:guilty: But what a dream come true....this trip is SO special in so many ways for all of us...it's been years since we've had this much down time together and my Mom is turning 60....10 years from now, she may not be able to make a trip like this, you know? These memories will be priceless for me!!!!:cloud9: I hope you'll get to do something like this with your DD someday....

It's almost done, I can't wait for it to be done and then we can have peace of mind. The boys are SO good, but you know when you need to run in to get a tissue or something (or change a diaper!), I hate having to make everyone come in and they don't like it either. It will make a huge difference in my life, my neighborhood is very safe and my street is pretty quiet (minus the teenagers and buses), it's nice to have boundries for these monkeys!!!!

Your lunch sounds great! I'm looking forward to flying off tonight to see my friend, I always have reservations traveling alone without my family (I should say fear!!), I'm always afraid something will happen to me and we won't be all together, so I'm a little nervous. But it's so nice once I get there and have that down time (and girl time, too!!).

Thanks for sticking around...may do a quick update this a.m. We'll see....ttys!!:cutie:

Okay now I have fence and girls weekend envy! LOL! Have a great time!

So, I stole this idea from my friend (with her permission, of course!!), LL, she did this with her Mom and I thought it was a great idea....so, thanks again, LL!!:goodvibes

I've marked Jodi as "J" and Mom and "M" for the answers, Jodi assures me she is excited but by her comments, by reading them, you would never know that, lol!!:rotfl: She's obviously not as big a talker as I am!! Mom did her research..she may be a DIS'er in making!!!!!:cloud9: Enjoy!!

Are there any attractions that you would like to do for sure?

J:I would love to do the classics in the Magic Kingdom. Anything you can think of... In Epcot there is not one specific thing... I just want to do it all.

M:In the Magic Kingdom, I’d like to see Hall of Presidents, Small World (of course!!) Splash Mountain, Big Thunder, the Haunted Mansion (?), and maybe Peter Pan’s flight -Not really sure, but the book says it’s good.

In Epcot-I’d like to do ‘Soarin', Spaceship Earth, Mission-Space, and I”ve never done the Test Track, and would maybe like to give that a try, though I know it’s very popular. I”d also like to do the Energy pavilion, and some countries-maybe Canada, Norway, and just poke around in some shops, etc.

-In MGM, I would like to do the Tower of Terror, the Great Movie Ride and not sure what else is there that caught my eye, but maybe you guys have some things?? Is that where the Brown Derby is??

Are you interested in fireworks?
J:If we happen to be in the area it would be nice maybe once.

M:As far as fireworks go, I”ve seen them a couple of times, but I’m game if you want to see them again. I’m not sure I have to see Illuminations, and every light show there is, but if you wanted to do that one night, that’s fine.

How late do you want to stay out in the parks??
J: Until we're tired???

M:Not sure how late I want to stay at the parks, guess it depends on what we get covered, right?? I wouldn’t mind also wandering around the Boardwalk one night, or the Grand Floridian, Downtown Disney, etc.- and doing stuff like that early evenings, too

Are you going to want to get up early for rope drop (9AM)?
J: Does rope drop mean when the park opens? If yes, I could care less but I do want to get there not much later than that.

M:Does this mean mass hysteria breaking down the walls?? LOLL I could pass on that, but do want to get our day going so we cover whatever it is is important to each of us, and all of us. 9 a.m. isn’t so bad.

Is there anything else you would like to see/do/avoid?
J:No
M:A couple of things I noted when going through the book (again) Seems if we request a room near the lobby, we are closer to the bus stop to come and go, rather than a building further away. Is that a done deal already? There was also a comment about being nearer the ‘computer’ pool, that it was a bit quieter than other areas with small children and families, so maybe that might also be a consideration for us? As mentioned, I wouldn’t mind wandering around the Boardwalk, maybe taking a Wagon Ride at Fort Wilderness (anyone do this before??), eating at Raglan Road, taking a ferry boat ride across the lagoon, and even just riding around the monorail to see the sights and go have a drink somewhere. I’m easy (I think!!) and just enjoying some balmy nights with my girls, relaxing after a busy day walking around in the heat, something like that might be fun, too??

I've got lots to plan....I've come up with a plan of attack for each day, along with dining....I"ll post that next time, I need some help with it, so will be looking for some good input then!!! Have a great weekend everyone!!!!:wizard:

Hey Kristen:
Just checking in to see what you have posted today!
I can imagine how much you will love having your fenced in yard! I have two DGD and when I go seem them in MS I have to drag both of them in the house if I forget to bring something out with us (their swing set and play area is in an 'L shaped" area of the yard protected from the street by their housebut outside their main fenced area because they used to have a large dog in their back yard). You talk about putting up a fuss getting them back in once we start playing - especially if I just need to run in an get a kleenex or a juice box or whatever! Fences provide such peace of mind, don't they!

Don't worry about the boys being left behind! They are young and misssing one trip will not hurt them! besides, it will be a great experience for them and their dad! And he is a trooper, too!:) My mom passed away a year ago but I have great memories of her taking all five of us kids to DL when we were growing up in Southern California while my dad was overseas (he wasn't much of a fun person).

Here's hoping you guys have a magical time. I know you will! Keep us updated!

I am so excited for you...for everything...your fence, your girly weekend, and you Disney reservation vs. AAA ressie...I completely agree on that issue...just peace of mind! Hi Brook!! :cutie: Thanks for joining me!!!! Isn't that the truth, when you join a PTR and it doesn't take days to catch up...I always seem to get into those myself, where I'm husing the kids so I can just read one more page!! Only kidding...maybe, sort of, kinda....heehee!!!

Mom was SO excited and kept saying "is this really happening?"....she was beside herself. She hasn't had Jodi & I to herself in 10 years since we've grown up, married, moved away, came back, moved away again, so she is thrilled! And we are, too!!;)

Thanks for reading along!!!!!!

That is so cute about your Mom! :goodvibes And I LOVE her very educated answers to your survey. Sounds like she is pouring through that book! Does she know about the DIS? I can totally see her getting into it.

And :woohoo: for free dining! I've never used a TA, I don't know how I would handle it...probably not very well. I like to be in control of it too!

I hope you are having a FAB girls weekend!!

First of all, I love absolutely everything about your trip. Love that you have such lovely memories of trips to WDW when you were a kid. Love that you and your sis want to treat your mom. Love how you surprised her. That was so creative! Oh and by the way, I had the same Epcot visor that your sister Jodi had on in the picture from the 80's! :rotfl: Love that you kept it a surpise Love your mom's reaction ("is this really happening?"). And love that Todd is taking time off and staying with the kiddos to let you do this! :goodvibes

All your plans look great so far. I think it's adorable how into this your mom is. She is definitely studying the book, judging by her answers!

Can't wait for more planning!! :yay: :goodvibes

OMG, LOVING the fenced in yard!:lovestruc What did I ever do without it? It's making my life so much easier, especially now that the weather is nice, and the boys are loving it too, they feel like they have freedom and that is huge, too!

Thanks for your thoughts on my trip alone without the boys, that's Mommy guilt for you! I'm sure I will LOVE every minute with my Mom & sis, but I think there will be times where a special song or show will remind me of the kids..sniff, sniff!! But these times are once in a lifetime and I will cherish every minute with my Mom!!:cloud9:

My Mom totally has been doing her homework, good girl!! LOL!!:rotfl: She knows of "DIS" but I think she would officially think I was nuts if she knew how much time I spent on here and that I'm writing a PTR for our trip 5 mos. away!! LOL!!!

Glad to be home from my girl weekend....had quite a few traveling issues with Jet Blue, but made the best of my time with my friend, girl time is always good!!:cutie:

And it is clear your mom has been studying up on Disney which is awesome! Their responses are much better than my siblings' were to similar questions...when I asked them last trip when they wanted to wake up to go to the parks the answer was always "whenever we happen to wake up" You girls are going to have an awesome time!!

Hi everyone,

Thanks for being patient with me...this past week was a blur....I went to VA, Todd went to Philly and everything in between so I'm just getting a chance now to sit down and DIS.:cloud9: I hope you're all well!:goodvibes

I'm starting to think of some possible plans for our trip...any input is appreciated as I haven't done an all adult trip since my honeymoon back in 2000....and then it didn't seem like you needed to plan as much...or maybe that was just because it didn't matter if/when/what we were doing...we were young and in love.....ahhh.....:lovestruc LOL!!

So here goes....

Arrival day Monday, 9/14
Mom & my flight leaves Boston about 7 a.m. due to land in Orlando about 10:30 a.m., breeze through ME, head to POP. Jodi will be driving up from SC and it's about a 5 hour trip to Orlando for her, so she'll plan to meet us at POP about noontime. We'll grab lunch at "Everything POP", tour the resort, hopefully get our room and clean up, monorail ride, we're planning on heading to DTD this afternoon/night to get into the spirit of things, have a nice dinner and head to be early so we're ready for the next day. I was thinking about having dinner at "The Wave" in the Contemporary, my Mom & sis like sushi, it's newer, anyone hear anything about it? Suggestions? Ideas?

Tuesday, 9/15 Epcot day
lunch (Tanergine Cafe)
dinner (Le Celliar)

Wednesday, 9/16 MK day
Would love to make opening ceremonies this day, Mom & Jodi seem to care less either way, but I'm going to be there. I can't wait!!
lunch (Terrace Noodle)
dinner (Ohana)

Thursday, 9/17 Epcot
lunch (Sunshine Seasons)
dinner (Teppan Edo)

Friday, 9/18 Departure day
We'll have our bags held at POP and head over to DHS for the morning.
breakfast (CS) at resort
lunch at DHS (TS) Anyone? Thinking Brown Derby....:confused3
back to resort, pickup from Magical Express about 3ish for our 7pm flight. Has anyone left at this time? Do you think it's doable to do DHS that morning and spend most of the day there? We usually fly out earlier in the day, so wasn't sure if this would work or not? Thoughts? Ideas? :confused3

We're trying to eat at some new places that we haven't been to. I did eat at Le Celliar and can't wait to go again but everything else (other than "Everything POP" will be new for us). We can't make dining ressies until the end of June, but it's good to be prepared and I'm starting to think I should have back up ideas of places to go to because of the free dining. So if anyone has any other dining ideas for me, I'd love to hear them!!

I'm kind of bummed that we're only doing one day at MK, but it's Mom's trip and she really wants to spend most of her time at Epcot. Which will be a nice change of pace for me really since I never get to leisurely browse the shops or countries in World Showcase. And a lot of what is offered in the rest of the park is a bit ahead of the boys now, too, so it will be fun to explore. Does anyone think only one day in MK is not enough besides me? :sad2: Is that enough as adults? We don't have a hopper pass (didn't think it was worth the extra money this trip), so we have to just chose one park per day...and this seemed like the best option.

Okay...off to catch up around here some, hope to hear from you all soon!!:flower3:

i'm sure you'll get loads of suggestions really soon, i've not been to Florida for 20 years (:scared1:) so can't give any advice apart from one day at MK is better then none!!! I'm sure you'll have a fantastic time xx

I love your plans, they sound great.

Idea for TS at DHS. Have you eaten at 50s Prime Time yet? Its just a lot of fun and I think that ya'll would enjoy it since you are there as a FAM and "Mom" is there in the kitchen cooking ;)

What about popping into MK on your first day...?? Do you have park tickets for that day? :confused3 I always worry about not having enough time in MK and that might work out for you.

I adore Brown Derby and I think it would be perfect for a ladies lunch. I think your last day plans sound great, you should have plenty of time at DHS before you have to fly out. :thumbsup2

Hi Kristen! I think your plans look great! :yay: I'm so excited for you! I think I would probably do it the exact same way that you already have it laid out. I know what you mean about MK -- and what says Disney better than the castle? But for an adult trip, I say nothing beats an adult beverage and poking around World Showcase- shopping, snacking, watching the concerts etc. :cloud9:

Your last day plans should work fine and I think you will :lovestruc Brown Derby.

I think your plans look really great! For back-up plans, maybe Tutto or Chefs de France for your Epcot days? They both seem to get really good reviews.

We had a later flight, around 6:30 pm, back this past trip and we did hit a park in the morning-it was GREAT. I think hitting DHS on your departure day will work out just fine!

I second the idea of 50s for a back-up at DHS, good food and silly fun!

The plans are sounding great. I know what you mean about the MK. I always intend to spend the majority of my time somewhere else, but in the end most of my time is spent at the MK. If you plan well, and using a touring plan I would think that you'd get to see the majority of the stuff there. The big stuff at any rate.

I have never actually gone to a park on my last day. I was supposed to my last trip, but then Air Tran went and cancelled our evening flight and changed us to one at 8:30 am. I had to call and make a stink and get them to put us on one at about 1:30pm. Still not late enough to do anything, but at least I got to sleep to a normal hour. I would think that you'd have enough time to see HS in the morning and eat. I might plan to take a cab back to your resort though. I have always found that the buses seem to come less often in the afternoon than the evenings. By getting a cab you wouldn't have to worry about waiting around.

I think you're plans look great. Being that it's just adults I think you'll have time to do most if not all of what you have planned to do in those parks. I've never been without kiddos so I can't help ya much. I'm sure you will have a wonderful time though and I'm looking forward to hearing about it.

I have to go catch up as well and post an update on my preTR, I've really been slacking on the dis....life just seems to get crazier and crazier.

I think your plans sound great!

I agree with a PP who said to maybe add an extra day to your passes and hit MK for a little while on your arrival day. You could still do dinner at The Wave (We haven't been there, but I've heard great things about it), and then maybe head over to the Poly for a Lapu Lapu! You could get your MK fix, ride the monorail and tour a couple of the resorts.

I don't think you'll have a problem going to DHS on your last day at all, we've always gone to a park the morning of our departure and never had a problem getting back to the resort in time to catch ME. Your flight is late enough that you'll get plenty in before you have to head back. I think you'll like the Brown Derby, DH and I went there once for lunch, although it's been years, and we enjoyed it. :thumbsup2

Just caught up on your PTR- everything sounds great so far! Foodwise at DHS, you'll hear mixed reviews on most things. I think Brown Derby is the best "adult"place..the rest are more family oriented.

I love the way you surprised your mom! how cute.... can't wait to hear more!

Hi Kristen, not trying to hijack but I have a question for you. Once again we are thinking of completely changing our vacation. It started because we wanted to check on flights(have never flown before:eek:) and if we did that it would probably be easier/about the same cost to just stay on site at disney. If we did that then I would consider the dining plan. Since we have never stayed on site or done the dining plan I was wondering if you could give some insight. Is the dp too confusing to use, good with 3 children, it says for 3 and up does that mean Cole could still get his own but it would be free, are character breakfasts an extra charge or just use one of you ts meals?????? I know I have too many questions. If you don't have the time or want to answer I completely understand. I am going to post this in a general post just in case but since I know you and you have 3 kids I was just wondering what you thought. Thanks

i'm sure you'll get loads of suggestions really soon, i've not been to Florida for 20 years (:scared1:) so can't give any advice apart from one day at MK is better then none!!! I'm sure you'll have a fantastic time xx

20 years!!:scared1: You need to plan a trip...we can help you!!;)

I hear you on being behind. I very much need to go tidy the kitchen.

I love your plans, they sound great.

Idea for TS at DHS. Have you eaten at 50s Prime Time yet? Its just a lot of fun and I think that ya'll would enjoy it since you are there as a FAM and "Mom" is there in the kitchen cooking ;)

DIS is so distracting, isn't it?:confused3 Who has time for house cleaning when you've got kids and DIS? lol!!:rotfl:

Haven't been to 50's Prime Time...will check it out. I think I may be scared to eat there though...I've heard that "Mom" can be mean!! LOL!! How is the food? Thanks for the idea!!:goodvibes

:thumbsup2

Hey LL!
I thought about popping into MK our 1st afternoon but Mom thinks it would be too much with us traveling all morning and getting up super early. We do have a 5 day pass (our whole trip) so the option is there, but I'm afraid if they get me in there, I will want to stay all night!!:lmao: But it's a good idea...maybe just the monorail ride there and to see it will be enough for me? I'm just so nervous one day won't be enough for me...but then again, is even 5 days ever enough? LOL!!:rotfl:

Thanks for your input on Brown Derby, I think it sounds great. Glad you think that 1/2 day will be enough at DHS. We usually move at such a slow pace (with all three boys!) that it's hard for me to judge!!

Just found your PTR...can't wait to catch up!:goodvibes

Hi!! Welcome aboard, thank for joining me!! Hope you stick around!!!:goodvibes

Hi Christine...thanks for your input!! After reading your TR and all the wonderful things (and drinks!!;)) you did in Epcot, I think I'll really love that down time there. :cloud9: I have to keep reminding myself that maybe I won't want a million pics with the characters and will want to do adult things....you can tell I've been a Mom for awhile....lol!:rotfl: Thanks for reinforcing the points.

Hi Brook!
I marked down your ideas as back ups for Epcot, thank you for those. With FD, you never know what your options may be, but you know I will be on the phone at 6:58 a.m waiting to get what we are hoping for!!;)

Oh good, glad to hear you did a 1/2 day in a park in the a.m of your departure day and it worked for you guys. I wasn't so sure but wanted to fit that in for sure. So thanks!!:goodvibes

Hmm....50's....seems to be a trend....will keep it in mind, thank you!!:goodvibes

Oh no!! Never thought about them changing my flight!! I will freak! That happened last time for us, too!!:scared1: Here's hoping for a full 5 days with no hiccups.....I can dream, can't I? LOL!!:cloud9:

I think you're plans look great. Being that it's just adults I think you'll have time to do most if not all of what you have planned to do in those parks. I've never been without kiddos so I can't help ya much. I'm sure you will have a wonderful time though and I'm looking forward to hearing about it.

I have to go catch up as well and post an update on my preTR, I've really been slacking on the dis....life just seems to get crazier and crazier.

Thanks Tracy, glad you guys think my plans should work....I can't wait for an all adult trip! I won't believe it til it gets here!!! 5 more months!!!

Hi Everyone!

Hope everyone is having a nice day so far! I'm having a busy day...today is Todd's 34th birthday so the boys and I have been busy baking a cake, picking up a few extra gifts and wrapping presents. We're going to have his favorite meal (hot roast beef sandwiches and bbq chips-- it's a good thing he's sooo easy to please!!!) for dinner tonight along with a homemade marble chocolate cake. Yum!!:cloud9: Great for the diet!!;)

On another note, I've been very busy training for my first 5K race, my friend (who also has 3 little boys) and I have to decided to get off our hiney's and get our bodies (or what is left of them!! LOL!:rotfl:) in shape and I've always wanted to run, so here goes nothing. I'm not a runner (ran in early HS, but it's been 20 years!) so this is a big deal and I'm not one to exercise, other than walking, so I'm proud to say I've been training for a month now and sticking to it. My legs already feel stronger and so far, I'm enjoying it. Our race is 5/17, so I've got just over a month to get to where I need to be....say a prayer I can do it!!:thumbsup2

I just noticed my ticker now says less that 5 months until my trip!! :dance3: It's going to fly by these next few months...between planning, school getting out and summer, it will be here before I know it. I can't wait!! Thanks for reading along!!:goodvibes

Nope, nothing special tonight, both boys had baseball practice, so we were split, DH being with DS13 and me with DS8. We had a dinner for family on Friday. DS got to pick the menu and open gifts from grandparents & aunts and uncles. In lieu of a big party with his friends this year, he opted for new bedroom furniture instead. He graduated from bunk beds to a queen, so he's in heaven!

I hope Todd's birthday celebration went well!

Now I know my trip is over 4 months away, but I've been busy picking some things up for it....better to be prepared, right? ;)

I made some purchases last night through Disneyshopping.com, they had some great sales plus I got a 25% off code, even off sale stuff, so figured I'd see if I could get some things. They had adults tshirts 3 for $20! :thumbsup2 I thought I would surprise Mom & Jodi with a little gift when we got there, not sure they will wear them to the parks or not, but even for bed, they are fun and the price was right!!

This is what I got for Mom...
http://i704.photobucket.com/albums/ww50/princessher4princes/mickey.jpg

Here is Jodi's....she's not a traditional kind of girl, so thought this was fitting for her....
http://i704.photobucket.com/albums/ww50/princessher4princes/jack.jpg

and for myself....thought this was cute! :cloud9:
http://i704.photobucket.com/albums/ww50/princessher4princes/tink.jpg

I also found some cute Mickey sweatshirts on clearance and decided to pick them up for the boys, these will be given to them when I get home from my trip. Saves me (a lot!) of money while on vacation, they are Disney and thought it was a nice inexpensive way to let them know Mommy was thinking of them while she was gone. I'll probably get them all something else small while there. They were only $6.99 on clearance!!:yay:
http://i704.photobucket.com/albums/ww50/princessher4princes/mickeysweat.jpg

I also have picked myself up my 1st Vera Bradley bag for my trip....I bought the mini hipster in the Kennsington pattern, I thought it would match with most outfits (brown and black toned). Even though it's the mini version, it's fits SO much....I tried it out on a quick trip to Boston with my Mom about a month ago. It fits all the essentials...camera, cell phone, money, credit cards, sunglasses, chapstick, small bottle of sunscreen, gum...what else does a Mom need? Especially a Mom without kids on vacation!!:woohoo: I got this Ebay for about $15, bargain, huh?!!:thumbsup2
http://i704.photobucket.com/albums/ww50/princessher4princes/vbkennsington.jpg

And last but not least....my friend, LL, mentioned on her PTR that a store here in MA had Crocs on sale for $10 a pair!! So I made a quick trip out to see what was left....I ended up with these...not my first choice, but they have grown on me and thought they would look cute with capris, especially!! And although I haven't worn them out and about, in the house they were super comfy!! I have a pair of brown mary janes I bought for my 1st family trip and loved them, I wore them on my last two trips and loved them for Disney, they are pretty warn out at this point, so I may need to see whatelse I can find before September. Aren't they cute?
http://i704.photobucket.com/albums/ww50/princessher4princes/crocs.jpg

I love the Crocs you got! Those will look very cute with capris. I have been eyeing that style for awhile now.

I had some kids I had to buy souvenirs for when I went in 2005. I ended up getting some stuffed animals on clearance at the Disney Store along with some towels and they never knew any different! Plus I didn't have to lug home souvenirs. :thumbsup2

The tees are super cute! I love them, especially the Tink one for you. :goodvibes

Congrats on signing up for your 1st 5k. Before you know it, you will be coming up with excuses to do Disney races - LOL!

The only races I have ever done were Disney races, and to be honest, the main (ok, only!) reason I signed up was because it was yet another Disney experience! Nothing like having yet another excuse to take a trip to WDW!!!:goodvibes

Your purchases are really cute! What a great deal on the shirts. :thumbsup2 I really like the Crocs, and for $10, you just can't go wrong.

I might have to go hit up Disneyshopping.com, we have a $40 gift card I am trying to resist on using to save for December...but....but...sales are so tempting!

Love the new purchases, especially the mickey shirt and the crocs. I have got to get myself some cute crocs or something comfy to go with capris also. I'll have to see how much I can find those for around here. You're making me want to venture back over to disney shopping:rolleyes1 Speaking of which, someone told me you can get disney dollars on there and I can't find them. Do you by any chance know where to get them?

Hi Kristen!
All the stuff you bought looks great! Love the Vera Bradley, I am a huge fan, I have 3-4 of her bags. That is a great pattern/style, and it will be easy to carry around the parks. What a bargain finder you are!

I love the idea of getting the kids something ahead of time! They will never know the difference so you save some money but still get them something nice :goodvibes They will look adorable in their new sweatshirts!

Kyle and I are heading up your way soon, well to Boston so sort of haha! We have Red Sox tickets for May 6th and 7th. I love it up there, I would move to your area if it wasn't for us being stuck in CT for Kyle's work. Oh well, maybe someday!

Have a great weekend! :flower3:

Ideas?

Lots of traveling if you're gonna go to DTD and the Contemporary and ride the monorail ... You may want to consider doing DTD or a tour of the monorail resorts (and with good timing, you could watch the Electric Boat Pageant if you stick to the latter) ... Lots of good restaurant options in either case. Check out the menus on the All Ears web site ...

Tuesday, 9/15 Epcot day
lunch (Tanergine Cafe)
dinner (Le Celliar)

I've heard lots of good things about Tangerienne Cafe - it's on my short list ... Good luck with getting an ADR at Le Cellier!!

Wednesday, 9/16 MK day
Would love to make opening ceremonies this day, Mom & Jodi seem to care less either way, but I'm going to be there. I can't wait!!
lunch (Terrace Noodle)
dinner (Ohana)

You gotta be there for the opening!! And grab a spot directly in front of the train station ...

Thursday, 9/17 Epcot
lunch (Sunshine Seasons)
dinner (Teppan Edo)

Tappan Edo is great!!

Thoughts? Ideas? :confused3

No problem - and DHS is a nice, relaxing park to visit on your last day. However, you may want to stick to just a CS lunch to save time and use that 4th TS for a meal at Epcot (maybe an early breakfast with the princesses at Akershus? - or at the Crystal Palace in the MK?) - especially since you'll be spending two days at Epcot ...

MK Counter Service - try Columbia Harbor House if you're in that area of the park instead of trekking over to Tomorrowland ... and go upstairs for a quieter meal ...

Does anyone think only one day in MK is not enough besides me? :sad2: Is that enough as adults?

Should be enough - (yea - who am I kidding - one day is NEVER enough!!!) :rotfl2:... also consider taking advantage of evening EMH ...

Okay...off to catch up around here some, hope to hear from you all soon!!:flower3:

I'm here ... and all caught up ...:surfweb:

Plans look good, but be sure to check the park calendars when they come out in early June. You may want to revise your plan based on EMH, Fantasmic! and Spectromagic schedule, anticipated crowd levels, etc.

And no visit to Animal Kingdom?? I think you may have more fun at AK than DHS ... (check with Mom ...) :)

And don't forget afternoon breaks - especially on the Epcot days (lots of walking) and if the weather's hot, hazy, humid (in other words, like it is here in NJ ... :rotfl:)

I'm going with my Mom, too in September ... and like yours, she's excited about being in WDW with all her boys and grandaughters - first family trip in about 30 years (when we all went to ... WDW!)

But it looks like our paths will only cross ... as we travel on busses to different parks!!

I'm in...

Good for you on the 5k. I was doing the Couch to 5k program and was on week six when my mom had to undergo emergency surgery and almost died.

She was diagnosed with stage 3 Colon Cancer and just finished her 9th Chemo treatment. She is doing great and just turned 73!!!

Anywho....needless to say that derailed the program....I plan to start again. It was great for beginners but it sounds like you are well underway. Good luck to you on that.

We will be staying at Pop for the first time Sept 4th through the 9th to celebrate out 10 year anniversary and my b-day. I couldn't resist free dining and we couldn't afford to recreate our honeymoon trip to Alaska.

As for getting your mom and sister into MK early....would you consider making an early ADR for Crystal Palace? Their breakfast is so yummy and I think it's so pretty inside.....I know you won't have the kiddos but I would do it without our son in a heartbeat. OR how about Kona Cafe for an early breakfast then Monorail to MK?

What about Boma for a breakfast or dinner? I can't remember if you went there on your last trip or not. Both are very good and it could be an option if you don't get your first picks. Plus you can look around AKL too.

I think both Boma and Crytal Palace are reasonable to pay out of pocket if you don't want to use credits.

Because it may be 1000 degrees :rolleyes1 our trip is going to be alot of water parks. I think we will breakfasts, water parks, rest a bit then parks at night. The one exception will be one day of MK with an early ADR at Crystal Palace.

Okay, now I am rambling....

SOOO cute! I may have to get some of those

They are pretty cute, aren't they? And they come in a lot of colors...I've been looking them up online to see reviews and they are cute in color, too. But the white will be nice with everything this Summer and for my vacation. Plus, they are super comfy, just like my mary janes!!:lovestruc

Thanks for the tip, LL. They are cute, aren't they? I think I could wear them with capris, shorts, or even skirts, right?:confused3 I've never seen that style before but that was the only pair Ocean State had in my size. So I said, why not for the price, and now I'm glad I got them!!!

That's what I was thinking to about the souvies...less for me to search for in the parks and less to carry home for the boys. I will most likely get them something else small like a pin or something but at least they will have a new sweatshirt going into our New England Fall!!:goodvibes

Hi guys,

Happy Monday!:cutie:I hope you all had a great weekend!

Ours was super busy....Saturday morning we picked up the boys their first real pets, we have a cat named, Kalie, but according to the boys she is "our" pet, not "theirs" so we decided they were ready and got them some goldfish. We got a 10 gallon tank and 2 goldfish that we named "Buzz & Woody" and an algea eater fish names "Slinky"-- you should see the boys, they are mesmerized by these fish!! It's been a huge source of entertainment around here, why didn't I think of this sooner? LOL!!:rotfl: That afternoon we headed to RI and went to see the Paw Sox play, I got free tickets to the ball game and it was a lot of fun for us all. We only made it to the 6th inning but that's okay, the tickets were free and that was a lot of time for Cole to sit still for a baseball game! The weather was perfect being outdoors all day, it was a nice family day for us.:cloud9:

Yesterday we spent the day in our yard...with all the tree work, fencing, etal we've been doing, we havent had time to get out and try to make something of our yard. So we spent the day treating the "lawn" and planting seed and pulling out bushes and that sort. We made a big difference out there and hope that the seed works so we'll someday have a lawn! Wish us luck!!:thumbsup2

Not too much new with my Disney plans...you guys have all given me SO many good ideas recently that I'm thinking of making a spreadsheet (too OCD like??) and seeing what I can come up with. I appreciate all the suggestions, comments and ideas, keep them coming!!:goodvibes I can't wait for the hours of the parks to come out, EMH so we can make more definate plans.

I hope everyone is having a good day so far and I hope everyone has a great week!
ttys!!

Hey Kristen! Sounds like you did have a busy weekend. Family time outdoors is always the best. I love nice days where you can spend the whole day outside. We have a LOT of yard work to do this year also. Someday maybe it will be done and we'll just get to enjoy it,lol.

Nope, no disney store around here. :sad2: I did head over to disneyshopping but I'm waiting for my credit to appear on there before I order anything (bought a shirt for Dylan and Blake and neither one fit) I also checked on the crocs and couldn't find them yet. I did look on the croc website and they want $50 for them:eek:Looks like you really got a steal on those. I will have to keep looking I guess and hopefully I will find something soon.

I am with you on waiting for the park hours. It would be nice to know for sure.

For your running - make sure you have good shoes. That is one point that is very important - it made a huge difference for me. I don't like spending $100 bucks on shoes but really good ones that fit well is the key.

I have never done a trip report but I may try to do one this time.

This board made our first trip as a family in 2007 absolutely perfect. I learned so much from reading and of course my husband finally understood what it was I was doing with my nose stuck in my laptop everyday all day.:rotfl: He was very thankful I did my research, although he kept saying "are you sure we aren't going to get a bill for these meals"....he just couldn't believe the dining deals. That was before they took off apps and gratuity. It's still a good deal but wow was it a deal before!

As for Crystal Palace - it's a Character Breakfast but it's sooooo good I would definitly do it without kids. We saw just adults there all 3 times we have been. I can't vouch for dinner but breakfast is yummy! Especially, breakfast lasagne - not what you thiink and Pooh Bear Puffs:cloud9:
Really suggesting it to get your crew into the MK early for you. Kona for breakfast is supposed to be very good too.

When do they realease the park hours for September?

Spreadsheets are not OCD (but what do I know - I'm NDD#2) ... and I have two of them in "draft" stage at the moment!!

Someone gave you good advice about the shoes - BUT - don't buy a new pair of shoes and then run in them for the first or second time in the race: you need to "break" them in a bit and make sure they "work" for you, don't give you blisters, etc.

You can order shoes on-line from Road Runner sports if you can't find anything you like at your local running store (don't go to the mall, Target, etc. to buy running shoes!!) - they have lots of good advice and good prices ...

a spreadsheet sounds like a brilliant idea. i might have to join you on that one there is no way i'm going to remember all the fantastic advice from here over the next two years before we go, it could be colour cordinated and have different pages for different parks, shows, resturants..................:rotfl::rotfl:

As for Crystal Palace - it's a Character Breakfast but it's sooooo good I would definitly do it without kids. We saw just adults there all 3 times we have been. I can't vouch for dinner but breakfast is yummy! Especially, breakfast lasagne - not what you thiink and Pooh Bear Puffs:cloud9:
Really suggesting it to get your crew into the MK early for you. Kona for breakfast is supposed to be very good too.

When do they realease the park hours for September?

Thanks for your tips on running....I did 'splurge' and got some nice Asics for running and they got good reviews. They usually sell for about $90 and I got them at Kohl's for like $45 with a coupon! Do you think they could be causing my shin splints?:confused3 Here are the ones I got....

http://www.onlineshoes.com/productpage.asp?gen=w&pcid=130409&adtrack=froogle&term=women%27s+asics+gel%2dfrantic+3&offer=&ci_src=14110944&ci_sku=165533
Let me know your thoughts. I thought they would work for me...

Not sure when they will release September hours...I'd like to assume in the next month or so? Joel?? Just because we can book dining in June, so would think it would come out before then, but not 100% sure.

Isn't the DIS the best! I'm with you, I had a great 2007 trip with my family and immediately got hooked here.....it's the best thing! I've learned so much and have SO much more to learn that my friends come to me with questions cause they think I know so much!!!

Hey Kristen! Sounds like you had a great weekend! We had awesome weather here last week and nothing but rain for the weekend!

Tonight we're getting snow flurries and it's dipping down to the 30s! yikes! :eek

But starting Wed. we'll be sailing into the upper 70s so I think it's all downhill from here! WOoo HOoo! to the summer beginning!

Flurries!!!!!!:scared1: Oh no!!! It's suppose to be SPRING!!!! It's cloudy and overcast here, but I'll take that over snow threats, anyday!!;) Although the rest of your week sounds wonderful...this is the time of year when everyone starts getting colds because it's 40 one day and 70 the next!:headache: Speaking of which, I woke up with one this a.m and just got off antibiotics about 5 days ago for a sinus infection...this weather needs to stay nice now!!:flower3:

Hi Joel,
Thanks for the running advice....I was wearing my old Nike running shoes and once we decided to do the 5K, decided to "splurge" and got a pair of Asics GEL-Frantic 3 for woman, they got good reviews and I've been wearing them for about 5 weeks on the treadmill only but now have shin splints....wonder if I shoudl try my old Nikes tomorrow morning during my run? Any suggestions? Checked out Road Runners, thanks for the tip!!:thumbsup2

Btw, do you plan on sharing your spreadsheet all mightly NDD #2? LOL!!:worship: I could use a good one!!:goodvibes

a spreadsheet sounds like a brilliant idea. i might have to join you on that one there is no way i'm going to remember all the fantastic advice from here over the next two years before we go, it could be colour cordinated and have different pages for different parks, shows, resturants..................:rotfl::rotfl:

Spreadsheets are our friends!! LOL!!:rotfl: I've got to draft something up, eveyrone has been giving me such great ideas and suggestions, so I have to spend sometime creating something...I've only got about 2 mos. before I have to book dining so I need to be prepared!!;) And I love the color coding...you're getting into it now!!:worship:

http://www.coolrunning.com/engine/2/2_1/184.shtml

I tried on a bunch of pairs and picked the brand you picked but a different style.

I did put my treadmill on a 2% incline and it seemed to help:confused3

I ran one time at the beach and it was quite different than the treadmill. First of all I wore my cool UA gear (runner shorts and shirt). Well, as soon as one foot hit the pavement it was like a Jello Wave running up my leg. I felt like a giant Jello Jiggler! (Mental note to wear capris for outside running until I get into better shape!) BUT I told myself who can make fun of me - I am least trying - instead of sitting on the bench eating Thrasher's Fries and Fried Dough:rotfl:

Also, a coworker, who has been running for 20 years (DVC member who just stayed in Hawaii on points for a marathon(so envious), said he replaces his shoes every 6 months:scared1:

Anyway, back to Disney, it looks like they release park hours along the same schedule as ADR's 90 days. At least that is what it says on the sticky in the Theme Parks thread. That's a bummer. I sure hope we can all get in where we want but spreadsheets are awesome!!!

There was one spreadsheet that showed the pricing breakdown with all the restaurants and snacks. That was a huge help in maximizing our DDP.

Love the DIS:thumbsup2

Don't forget to stretch your heel cords - sometimes your calf muscle overpowers the smaller muscle in the front of your leg. And yes replacing your running shoes more often can prevent problems. Hope you are shin-splint free!

Looking forward to reading more of your PTR! BTW I think the spreadsheet is a good idea. You can never be too organized right?! :confused3

Hi Everyone,

While I don't have a lot to report, I do have some exciting news to share.......

We're paid in FULL for our trip!!!
:banana::cool1::woohoo::yay::dance3::cheer2::rockb and::dancer:party:

Even though we had until July to pay, Jodi & I had the money now so we thought it was best to have one less thing to worry about. I just got off the phone and we're all set. :thumbsup2 I love that feeling. I also added Mom & my flight info for ME so that is taken care of, too.

I also inquired about when the EMH hours would be out. As of now they have July's hours so he figured by the 90 day mark (6/14) they would be out so we can plan accordingly. Although that seems like a tight squeeze that I have to figure it all out in one day, so we'll hope it comes out early June so I have time to play with our schedule some before commiting to dining.

In other news, I'm sick AGAIN with a nasty head cold....ears blocked, swollen glands, fever yesterday so I haven't run now in two days....it's making me very nervous for my upcoming race.:sad2: I hope this is the end of the illness in my house, it's been a long Winter here. They are saying we're suppose to get Summer like weather this weekend (like in the 70-80's!), so hopefully I can open up our windows and get rid of these germs!!

Mom is starting to do a bit of shopping for Disney, as well. She has a bad back so she worries about walking for a long time and I promised her lots of little breaks when she needs them (especially in the heat of September!). She picked up some cute sneaker/sandels from LL Bean today for only $14.98!! Way to go Mom!!:) They are pretty cute and seem like they should be comfy for walking. And I'm just excited she's thinking that far ahead!:cheer2:

The things I ordered from Disneyshopping.com came yesterday. The shirts for we girls are very cute, I think everyone will really like them. Ethan (my oldest) got the package and usually asks who it is for but is now starting to read and he saw my name and thankfully didn't ask what was inside since I had ordered those Mickey sweatshirts for them. So they are all safely stashed away for September now.....

That's all for now. I hope you're all well and hope I have more to report on sooner than later!!

Take care,
Kristen:flower3:

I'm sorry you haven't been feeling well! I hope you get better soon.

On the park hours thing, I think WDW has started releasing their hours like DL does - not soon enough! Seriously, when I was planning our DL trip for last year, having to wait so long for information drove me crazy! I think though, with my experience from that, it's safe to say that WDWs September hours will be out the 1st of June. That's how DL was, 3 months prior to the month of your departure. So, you should have a couple of weeks to finalize what ADRs you want to make before your actual 90 day mark.

Congrats on getting the trip paid off.:cool1:I know what a relief that is. We were going to have ours paid off the other day and then 'life' happened. Soon, I hope. Anyway, glad to hear you got your things and you like them. That's neat that your mom is thinking that far ahead. You can tell she is excited about it that way.

Sorry to hear you are sick. I hope you get to feeling better soon. I'm sure you will be fine with your race. You are a strong woman, you can do it.

We are predicted to get the same weather this weekend. They are talking 80:cool1::cool1: I am VERY excited about that.

Oh, and about the park hours....that is driving me crazy. I finally figured it all out on where we want to go when and I'm desperately hoping they give us a little time in between the hours release and the 90 day mark or I'll never figure it out in time.

Talk to you soon.

Ooo Brook, there are a lot of great deals on there right now...did you get a chance to take a look?:confused3 What did you find, if so? There is a Disney store at a mall about 1/2 hour from here and this weekend we ended up there and I went into get my Disney fix, well, don't you know, they have the same deal in store, without shipping so I could have got the tshirts there BUT I had the 25% off coupon so even with shipping I thnk I did pretty well for myself! They haven't come yet, but seeing them in person this weekend I was happy with my choices.

I resisted on heading over to disneyshopping.com in attempts to save the gift card for our trip. So far so good - but the good deals I keep hearing about make it harder!

YAY for having the trip paid off!!!! That always makes it seem more real, doesn't it? Feels good too, one less thing to worry about. :thumbsup2

I'm sorry to hear you got hit with another cold. It was in the 80s here in Minnesota yesterday, but today is supposed to go down to 57 and in the 40s tomorrow! :sad2: We took advantage yesterday though, got outside, aired out the house, took a long walk....and didn't get my TR updated! :rolleyes1

Yay for going to the Red Sox game!:banana:We just went to see the Paw Sox on Saturday afternoon with the boys in RI. It was fun and the right speed for the boys...plus, it was sooo nice out so it was fun!! Boston is a great city...hope you get to move there someday!!:cutie:

Kyle loves to go to Paw Sox games! I've been to the stadium, we went to see the Drop Kick Murphys play there and it was a lot of fun :goodvibes Glad you guys had fun!!

Congrats on getting paid off! That is wonderful, now you can fully enjoy your planning without worrying about the money :)
I'm so sorry you are sick again :( I hope you are feeling better and the warm weather cleared everything up a bit! It was a VERY long winter lol I hear ya on that one!

You are NOT a bad Mom! I think it makes you a better Mom when you get a break from your kiddos--it helps you stay sane--especially when you are a SAHM!!

The Tink shirt IS cuter in person!

Aww--I don't mean to make you depressed!! Your trip will be here before you know it!!

BTW--I read your TR last night!! I cried at the end when you left your friend. (I'm an emotional person--not sure how I'll react when I'm actually there with my family) I saw that you have the same stroller as we do (the Sit-N-Stand) and glad to hear that it worked well for you!! Oh--and I noticed your hubby's Phillies hat! I'm a HUGE Phillies fan! My dad grew up across the river from Philly in Cherry Hill, NJ so I've always cheered for the Philly teams. I've even been to some Phillies and Eagles games! TTYS! princess:

Joel,
What time is the Electric Boat Pageant usually? And where would I see this from? Contemporary? Trying to figure out my schedule some more...and have never seen this. Is it worth seeing? Thanks!!

Hi Everyone!
Sorry I haven't posted in awhile, been having Comcast issues here so every time I log on I get kicked off, it's been a pain!! Got to love modern conveniences, right? LOL!!

Not too much is new trip wise, trying to come up with a more concrete schedule of some sort but don't want to put too much time into it (yet!) because I'm sure I'll tweak it some once the hours are posted and go from there.

Mom and I were talking the other day about our trip and we've decided to head to Boston on Sunday afternoon instead of leaving here (very!!) early on Monday morning to Logan. Our flight is about 7 a.m and that means we need to leave here by 4:30 a.m or so.....so if we go up the night before, have a nice leisurely dinner out, early to bed, we're an hour closer to the airport, we have less to stress about Monday morning. And maybe be a bit more rested too than leaving from home. At first I was worried about leaving Todd & the boys for another night, but after talking with Todd, it made more sense and as he pointed out, he doesn't really need Mom and I bumping around the house at 3:30 a.m. and waking the boys up before heading out. True enough!! So, that's the plan, Mom has offered to take care of that reservation, so that was nice and I have an extra night of vacation!!:woohoo:

This weekend I'm taking a class for Real Estate Salesperson license. It's a 24 hour class and then you sit for the exam. While the market is down, I figured it was a good time to learn something new and have something to fall back on, just in case, especially with the way the economy is. I'm excited about it, I've been a stay at home Mom for almost 7 years now and I think it will be to add something to my resume and learn something new. My Mom has been doing Real Estate for 30 year now and she is going to teach me the ropes. I'm not planning on working until Cole goes to school, but in the meantime, help my Mom out and learn and see where I can go with it.

2 more weeks until my race! :scared1: My friend that was going to do it with me has a hurt knee and can't do it! So,I was going to wait another couple of weeks and kick up my training some more since I was sick twice this month and couldn't run but have decided to just plug forward and do it. It's a good starting point and I will have something to go by in the future. In the meantime, I'm trying to convince my other friend who ran her 1st 5K last year to do it with me....I could really use the support, you know? I'm finding it intimidating doing it alone! So we'll see.....depending how horrible I look, I may post pics. LOL!!:rotfl:

I guess that's about it for now....hope you are all doing well and I hope you have a wonderful 1st weekend in MAY (wow!!) weekend!!!:flower3:

Joel,
What time is the Electric Boat Pageant usually? And where would I see this from? Contemporary? Trying to figure out my schedule some more...and have never seen this. Is it worth seeing? Thanks!!

Other than glmpses of it while riding the monorail, I've never seen it either ... :rotfl2: ... Check on the All-Ears site for details, and I would think the time varies during the course of the year. Apparently good places to see it are from the Poly beach or Wilderness Lodge ...

Don't kick up your training too much - you don't want to get hurt, too!!

and BTW - Phillies fan here, too ... grew up just across the Tacony-Palmyra Bridge (and later, the Betsy Ross Bridge ...) ... spent many hours in the country's first "mall" (in Cherry Hill) ...

Unfortunately, Cablevision doesn't carry Phillies games in my area, so I don't watch them all too often ... and besides, it's not the same without Whitey and Harry ... :(

Hi Kristen!

My goodness you have a lot going on between planning a WDW trip, the race, and now the real estate exam. And oh yeah, a hubby and 3 little monkeys. ;) It all sounds great. I think taking the exam now and starting to work with your mom is an excellent idea!! Good luck! :goodvibes

Regarding the electric water pagent- I saw it in 2006 from the California Grill and it hadn't changed much (possibly at all) from what I remembered in the 80's. I like it b/c it brings back memories but most people I talk to who see it for the first time now say that it's not anything special. So I guess I'd say that if you happen to be in the neighborhood of the Contemporary, Poly or other spots on the lake you might try to see it but not sure I'd make a special trip just for it.

Hope you have a great weekend!!

Hi Kristen

Just finished getting all caught up on PTR...wow, you have done alot "behind the scenes..." I didn't know you had planned a night in Boston...great idea! Where will you be staying? Love all your purchases...I would never think to buy Vera Bradley on Ebay...LOVE VB. DId you get it new? That is an amazing deal...some of mine have faded so, I'd be leary to buy used but, $15 for new?!? If I didn't have so much work to do before the kiddos get home I'd be heading over to that website. Great idea on the souveniers for your kiddos...I found a book I bought for Erin...paid $24.95 at WDW...at the $1 store...buy very few things anymore WDW. I can't believe Joelp will be at WDW at the same time, as you...AGAIN!!! And another Bill comment about Todd...too funny!:rotfl: That was my first thought, too! OK...got to run...not in your sense but, off to chart.:upsidedow I'll talk to you soon! NO...still have no called on my PIN...:scared:What is wrong with me?!?

Hi Neighbor!!! Thanks for joining my PTR!!:goodvibes I'm so excited about this adult girl trip! It will be fun and so neat to see it in another perspective, you know? I'm not going to know what do with myself for 5 days without a diaper bag or a child on my hip! Todd will be lucky if I come home...lol!!:rotfl: Hope you stay tuned!!

Woohoo Phillies fan!! I humor Todd (shhh..) and "watch" them...most likely I'm Dis'ing while he is.;)

Training is going okay....did really well this a.m. I have less than 2 weeks now and I'm a bit worried, but you have to start somewhere and that's what I'm doing....I can only get better from here...or at least I hope I can!! How much do you run? Do you do races? Love any and all tips!!

Hi Christine!!
I know, I have a VERY FULL plate these days, don't I? It all is happening at once too...trying to keep calm. lol!! I got my certificate last night for my RE class, it was very grueling, but the 1st step, so now I have to call and schedule my exam. I'm really hoping to get that done in the next 2-3 weeks (before Summer starts and the boys are home every day, all day :scared1:). But it's a great time for me to get my feet wet and see where I can go when the time comes. I'm really not hoping to work full time until Cole goes to school (5 or so more years) but I think it's better to be prepared and learn while I can, too. Trying to line up my ducks to set myself up for when I grow up....

Thanks for the info on the Electric water pageant....if we're there, we're there, no special trips then. And now that you mention it, I may have seen it in the 80's too!!

How are you? Anything new and exciting going on?

Hi!!! Yes, an extra night vacation is always a good thing, right? It was a smart idea by Mom for sure and I'm sure Todd will appreciate that we're not banging around the house at 3 a.m. too while the boys are sleeping!!

You have to start somewhere is right with the race! At least you're getting out there. The weather has been so sporatic that it's tough getting out there all of the time. I have yet to run outside :scared1: only on my treadmill but relaly need to! Check out "Couch to 5K" online running training for beginners...it's been a great start for me!!:thumbsup2

Hey Leighan!
Yes, I've been busy....little things here and there. Mom thought it would be a nicer way to start our trip and spend the night in Boston beforehand. My parents actually own timeshare at the Custom House in Boston, so that's where we'll spend the night. Ever been there? It's SO nice....hope she's not let down staying at POP after that night...lol!!

Yes, my VB is new, tags and all!!:thumbsup2 There is A LOT of VB on Ebay...check it out.....great prices!!! I highly recommend it!! But don't tell Bobby you heard that from me if you start spending!! LOL!!

I know, Joelp will be there with me again...great minds think alike, huh? Now...call on that Pin would you? LOL!!:rotfl: Heck, I'll do it for you!! You're probably afraid to call and know you'll end up booking another trip....it's okay, you can cancel!! Keep me posted!!:goodvibes

Hi Kristen,

Sorry it's been awhile. Life was extra crazy around here with Cole's bday.

Sounds like a good idea with the extra night. I would be worried about leaving the boys as well but as you said it would't be good to wake them at 4 a.m.:scared1:

I'm sure you will do great in the race and I'm so happy for you that you will be doing it. I wish I had that kind of motivation:lmao:I'm doing good enough just to be excercising 5 days a week.

About the real estate thing: I would love to get into that as well. Jerry has always told me he thinks that is my calling because I love seeing the inside of houses and such. I just wasn't sure what all it entailed in order to do it. If you could give me any info on what it takes to get into it I would be really appreciative. I was just worried all the paperwork and such would be too much. I'm not overly organized so a lot of paperwork isn't my friend, lol. That is really neat that you have your mom to help you. Like you said, I am not going to work until Cole goes to school but it would be nice to get a head start checking on it and deciding for sure if that's what I want to do.

Ok, I will let you go now. Sorry for rambling. I need to get over to my TR and do an update on Cole's bday. :rolleyes1 We'll see, hopefully I can.

Hi Tracy!!
I hope that Coley's birthday was great and the party went off well. :wizard: I can't believe he's 2!!

Good for your for exercising 5 times a week!! I'm impressed! I'm only working out 3-4 times a week....and now I have the WORST shin splints....they are killing me. I'm planning on running outside tomorrow morning in hopes the less impact will be better for my poor legs!! Wish me luck!

I'll have to fill you in on the RE thing when I know more. I'm currently studying for the exam and I'm taking the test on 5/23. I figured I better take it sooner than later, even though you have 2 years to take it after you take the class. The class (25 hours this past weekend!!) was grueling but good. I'm excited about it.

Anyways, time for some down time. I hope you're well!!

Hi everyone!!

Sorry it's been quiet on here this week. Not too much new to report. It's been a very busy week here for me, seems like every day I had something going on and it looks like another busy weekend ahead of us, so I thought I would jump on quickly here and tell all my Mommy Dis friends HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!!! I hope you all have a wonderful weekends with your loved ones. Not sure what we have planned yet, I leave that up to Todd. My Mom and I celebrated today, she came up to watch Ethan and Cole for me so I could go to Lukey's school for the Mother's day tea and I made lunch for Mom and gave her her gift today since she will be busy with my Gram this weekend. It was nice.:cutie:

I'm studying for my RE exam now. I took the 25 hour class this past weekend, it was a lot of work but I'm excited about it. My exam is 5/23. My race is next Sunday (the 17th), I still dealing with shin splints, which is making me nervous, but I'm icing them and hope they heal some soon! Todd is now running with me, my friend that was going to run with me hurt here knee about a month ago and can't do it, my other friend was going to do it with me but now her DH is doing it with here and I just can't bring myself to do it myself, especially the 1st time. So we'll get a sitter and Todd will pace himself to run with me.

Not too much on the Disney horizon. Jodi is in Universal this week. Her and her husband are taking a 5 day trip there. They were driving down from Hilton Head there, so she'll get a good idea how the trip will be in September for her. I can't wait to hear all about it.:yay:

Well, I hope that you're all well and I hope to update some more soon!!

Take care,

Happy Mother's Day to you, too Kristen!! I'm sorry about your shin splints! About a month ago I started the Couch to 5K running program and ended up hurting my foot the 2nd day into it. I was sooo disappointed--I had even gone to a running store and bought some nice running shoes. It took about 2 weeks for my foot to feel better and then I was too scared to try it again before our trip. You have to be able to walk around WDW--you know? Anywho, hope your shin splints go away--those can be painful!! Good luck on the race--that's our first day in the parks at Disney (5/17). And good luck on your RE exam!!! LOL!!:rotfl: So....just another week or two and I should be able to find the hours for my trip!! I want to try and come up with a concrete plan but until the hours come out, so I can figure out what parks for what days,it's pointless now....:sad2: I'm pretty sure I can make our dining ressies on 6/14 (should call and confirm this, I guess!) so if I know the hours by 6/1 that will give me some time to get to work!! Hi Everyone,

Since I do not have a lot new on my trip, thought I would share Mother's day with you. I had such a nice day with my family!!:lovestruc Todd & the boys woke me up with bagles and donuts for breakfast, then we got ready to head to Boston. We started a new tradition last year (and I hope it continues every year, it's a nice way to spend a day!!) going up to the Swan boats in Boston gardens/commons area. It was a nice sunny day and they have a rubber ducky race (which we have never seen, but plan to next year!) in the a.m and lots of little festivities going on. We grabbed lunch on the way up to Boston (about 45 minutes from home) at Outback Steak house and we were on our way from there....

Here is a pic of the boys and I before we left the house, it was a miracle to get one with all three boys looking and smiling!!!

We took a nice long walk and decided to rest for a bit, the boys were so happy to find the PERFECT tree to climb!!

And last but not least, we decided to head home but grabbed a snack beforehand, Todd & I got roasted warm peanuts (yum!), Cole had a warm pretzel and the big boys got water ices, a perfect way to end my special day!!

It sounds like you had a lovely Mother's Day! You got some really great pictures of the boys. And it looked like a beautiful day. It was overcast and rainy here, as it has been for about 2 weeks now :sad2:

Happy Friday everyone!!!

My ticker is now saying less that 4 months....not technically, but I'll take it!!:lmao: Things are moving right along.....

We have a busy weekend ahead of us, tomorrow is baseball for Ethan, yard work (assuming the weather holds off!) and Sunday is the BIG race! GULP!!:scared1: I'm very nervous about it as I haven't run since last Wednesday because of my shin splints, but I'm going into it with the right attitude, to just finish, even if that means I walk. I've been icing (when I remember or have a minute to sit!) them and my plan is to just do the best I can and have fun with it, Todd is running with me, so that will be nice. Although his stride is A LOT bigger than mine, since he's is 6'4" and I'm only 5'4" ish....lol!!:rotfl: We'll make the best of it. We got a sitter so we can do this together and when we get home we're meeting my parent to grill out and so Dad can help us build new deck stairs.

Nothing new on the Disney horizon (sorry!) but hoping next week the park hours will be out and I can start really planning. Or at least I hope that is the case!

I hope you're all well and I hope you all have WONDERFUL weekends!!!
ttys!
Kristen:flower3:

ps- sent away for the Disney cruise line DVD, just got it in the mail, can't wait to watch it!!! Hoping and dreaming....

pss- Adam (my BFF hubby from my last trip, if you read it) and I are now harrassing each other with a "fake" countdown to our next trip to Disney together as families.....not sure when it will happen but our wheels are spinning.....but we have both agreed that it would be a lot easier to wait a couple more years to go with the kids with less "baby" gear....so we'll see.....but it's fun to dream!!!:cloud9:

What a wonderful Mother's Day! Boston is such a beautiful City.

And yes! :rotfl2: Duts! :goodvibes

Good luck on your race on Sunday! You should be proud of your accomplishment no matter if you have to walk or not! Also, good luck on your real estate exam. I used to work for the Board of Realtors-I kinda miss it, real estate is really interesting, I was never an agent, but I had to facilitate the classes and all that-so I learned about anti-trust, mold, meth houses, and more!

Hi Everyone!

Well, I did it, thanks to your support, I ran my 1st 5K and finished!!!:cool1: And in better time than I expected, too!!! :yay:

It wasn't easy for me, it was POURING down rain, but my shins did okay (thanks to resting them this last week!). Todd ran with me and was a great motivator and he even let me cross the finish line first since this was 'my' race, what a guy, I'm so lucky to have him!!:lovestruc I'm SO HAPPY that I did this and completed it and I'm looking forward to my next one (possibly late June!), just need to figure out this whole shin thing so I don't run into the same issue next time.

I'm very sore today but it was the first time I ran that far and outside, so that was to be expected for sure. Here are a couple of pics with our numbers, didn't get any at the race since we were both running and the boys were home with a sitter...just as well, we were soaked and I'm sure quite the vision!! LOL!:rotfl:

Take care of those shin splits (you'll have lots of walking to do in a few months!! ...:lmao: )

Check out the Runner's World web site for some healing advice (haven't been there in years, but they used to have a "most frequent problem/solution" page ... )

When you start up again, stick to soft surfaces (no roads for awhile!!) - you don't want the shin splints to develop into a stress fracture (although you would ghave fun puttering around WDW in an ECV ... :rotfl:)

Congrats, again!

So I called Disney today to confirm when I can actually book my dining and they told me 6/15. :cool1: It's getting so close now!! I also confirmed how many TS meals I would get to book.....and now I'm not so sure....so if someone can confirm this for me, that would be great. We are going Monday (will be there in the a.m) to Friday (flying out at night)....so does that mean we only have 4 days of dining? Since we're only there 4 nights? Does that mean on Friday we pay for all of our meals? I felt like when we had it last time we had it the second we got there until when we left.....I don't remember putting any money out....so if someone can clarify this for me that would be great....maybe my head isn't clear today (it's been quite the week!). :confused3

I also went online again today to see if the EMH have been posted and still nothing...I forgot to ask the CM when I was talking to her when it would be posted and forgot. :headache: So...guess I'll keep checking....

I guess that's about all new on this end.....no worries, in like 2 weeks I'll have SO much to post with dining coming up and EMH....thanks for being patient with me!!

I hope everyone has a WONDERFUL MEMORIAL DAY weekend!!! :yay:

Since it's just you and your Mom, you may want to see what the additional cost would be to bump up to the Deluxe Dining Plan ... and then eat your way around the world ... :thumbsup2

Hey! Thanks for clarifying this up for me.....I'm bummed now, for some reason I was thinking it was for how many days you were there, not nights. Hmm...this is going put a damper on my plans for ADRs...decisions, decisions.....maybe I will look into the Deluxe plan....is that all sit downs? We've always done the basic....worth checking out anyways.

I think you're right, I think I will call the dr. they are really bothering me..and here we are almost a week after my race. They were okay come Wednesday but then I did this KILLER walk (almost all up hill, I swear!) and they were bothering me then and then running after Cole....:headache: I hope it's nothing major but don't want to ruin my chances of walking around the world! I think the night before stay in Boston will be HUGE for us, 7 a.m. is very early, we did that with the boys last time.....3 a.m alarm clocks aren't fun, unless you're going to Disney, of course!! But at least Mom & I will be well rested!!!!

Hi Everyone,

I just got off the phone with Disney dining, I wanted to find out about Deluxe dining for our upcoming trip to see what the difference in cost would be and what we'd get. Well, I don't think it's happening....it's an add'l $384 for us and I'm not so sure we'd eat that much, especially in the heat and in just an extra day, I think we'd feel like we would HAVE to eat, you know?!! That's A LOT of food!! Although it would be nice not to have to pay out of pocket for the extra meals we will need but I dont' think we would break even there.

So...that leaves me with the basic dining, with is enough food for us ( I think!) and we'll most likely be paying out of pocket for a couple of meals. So what that breaks down to is.....4 snacks, 4 counter meals and 4 sit down meals.....which means I need to tweak my original map of meals....:sad2: Better to find out now than in a few weeks when I go to book my dining, right?!!

I also asked if there was any word on EMH, nothing yet, the CM said to try back in a couple of weeks...doesn't Disney know I'm ready to get this party started? LOL!! I guess that's all that is new on the Disney front for now anyways...

This week is Lukey's last week of school....well, today was his last day of school and Thursday is his school picnic. Ethan won't be done until 6/19. And today I'm off to the dr. to have my shins looked at...they are giving me a lot of trouble and before I do more harm, we're going to get them checked out.:guilty: My friend wants to plan another 5K but until I know for sure that I can run again, I'm going to wait.

Hope you're all well!!!! And had a great Memorial day weekend!!!:goodvibes

Yikes about the extra cost. Good plan to stick with the basic.

Good luck with the doctor. I hope everything is ok and that the doctor can help you so you can feel better and do another race. I'm rooting for you. Let us know how it turns out.

I hope you found out everything was okay at the doctor!

The DDP kinda bugs me that it just goes by nights and you can't add on an extra meal or adjust it to be what you need it to be. My main suggestion is perhaps you can split a couple meals, and then you'd have some credits left for the last day. Some portions are certainly large enough to share, esp since you get the full entree + dessert.

Otherwise, Earl of Sandwich in DTD is one of the cheaper CS' ($5.95 for a sandwich), and for sit down meals, non-character breakfast buffets seem to give you the most food for your buck!

It drives me NUTTY that Disney doesn't always release their hours before people have their ADR window! It's just silly!! I tried to look at last years and adapt it from there, but ended up being off on a few and had to call back and hope for the best. Thankfully it all still did work out.

Hi guys,

Just wanted to give you a quick update from the dr. They basically think I just over did it, but want me to take Ibuprofen for the next week (perscription) every 8 hours, wrap my shins in Ace bandages for compresssion, ice 20 minutes a day and do nothing more than walking. If in a week they aren't better, they will order x-rays. So....we'll see. I've been pretty much doing what they told me to do, other than the bandages, which I may add look LOVELY with shorts...lol!!:rotfl: Thankfully yesterday and today I can get away with wearing jeans since it's cold and rainy here in MA.

Brook, thanks for the suggestions on splitting meals and Earl of Sandwich, those are great ideas! :thumbsup2 Never thought about splitting...do you think we could get away with doing that at sit down places?

Hmm, not a bad idea on looking at last years hours for EMH, will check that out....I just want to take advantage of EMH hours since we'll really only be in park once, you know? Although, do you guys think I'm NUTS for doing EMH days at each park since those park are typically more crowded on those days? I was just thinking that if we went in the a.m and then left later in the day for dinner or whatever, we could go back and take advantage of being out late..but maybe that's a dumb idea since I'll be with my 60 year old Mom and it will be more crowded? Thoughts? Ideas? :confused3 Thanks!!!!

Okay...time to get the party started here...I've had my 1st cup of coffee and the kiddos are getting up! Hope everyone has a great day!!:flower3:

Hey Kristen!

I just wanted to chiime in on EMH. Since this is our first time on-site, we're also going to take advantage of EMH. But most likely just early EMH. Since I have a young child, I just want to kick out Fantasyland asap. But since we don't have park hoppers, I don't see us visiting pm EMH. I've pretty much already decided what days are which park, so it's not going to matter much to me, I don't think......... (famous last words probably!!)

The dining plan debate - that's a tough one, but it sounds like you got it figured out in time to plan your meals.

For EMH, I looked at the pattern the previous year and previous month. It worked out pretty well for our plans.

Best of luck with the shins. I hope its just some overdoing it.

So - what are your dining ideas now that its getting closer?

Your plans seem great. My DH also asked if there was a dining plan with 3 meals- and I said there was.. but even though we usually bought something small for breakfast or ate something we brought- it seemed like we did eat a lot. I mean-we only have the regular dining plan- and you get a lot of food and I felt like I had to make myself eat it all.. hehe but it was great to have. idk if we will do the deluxe or not- it would be nice to have breakfast every morning but with how my trip just went- I know DH wouldn't be getting up any earlier.. and I like to be at the parks when they open- because you get first dibs on everything.. soo idk. We did do a character breakfast at 8am one day- and the good was awesome and it was nice to have breakfast- but DH didn't like having to get up soo early- to make it to the bus and stuff. so idk..

I hope your shins get better.. I messed up knee up at disney.. idk how.. it like under my knee hurts but only when I bend it.. its weird.. but its getting better.

Thanks for your thoughts, we took advantage of early EMH with our boys, too, on our last trip-- or at early as we could anyways. We don't have park hoppers either this trip, so that's why I'm thinking we'd want to get there and stay all day, you know? Are you doing a PTR this trip??

I think I will check out last years and August EMH schedule.....I know that MK will be closing 2 of the nights early for people without MNSSHP tix, like us, so that kind of narrows it down some for us....I think!

Might post my plans next (if the boys allow that!! LOL!!)....stay tuned!:3dglasses

It does seem like a LOT of food....3 meals plus 2 snacks!!!!!!!!!!! I would have to bring bigger clothes for the end of the week....lol!:rotfl: I think if we pack breakfast foods for the room, use the refillable mugs for our morning beverage, we'll be fine in the a.m. and then lunch and dinner are taken care of, plus a snack here and there...we should be fine. Since we're not getting there until noontime on the 1st day, we'll just need two meals then, so we'll hvae a snack carried over for our last day and then just pay out of pocket for one day, shouldn't be too bad. And then we can just eat CS meals wherever we are...should work out okay, I hope!!;)

What did you do to your knee? Everything okay??!!:confused3

Brook, thanks for the suggestions on splitting meals and Earl of Sandwich, those are great ideas! :thumbsup2 Never thought about splitting...do you think we could get away with doing that at sit down places?

Joe and I have split some meals at sit down places, they have never said we couldn't. I know I've read that a LOT here on the DIS too. I don't think there is ever a split charge either, which is nice!

I hope all the icing/bandages work! I can just picture the wraps with shorts. :rotfl: But hey, if it works, it'll be worth lookin' silly for a bit! And at least you don't have to walk around in public like that ever!

We've never done morning EMH, but from what I have read, if you JUST do EMH and then leave when it starts to get busier/early afternoon-I think you will be fine. It does make the park busier, but it seems if you leave right before/after lunch, it's still good.

idk.. it just started hurting like behind my knee in the back of my leg.. whenever I bent down.. idk why it started hurting.. it slowly going away but still hurts a little.. its probably just stress from all the walking and stuff.. but what I don't get it I walk 4 1/2 miles a day.. its not like I went from doing nothing. who knows.

But in the meantime, I'm counting down and want to start something fun to countdown with my Mom and Jodi. Any suggestions? I think I don't want to overwelm them but since we're all in seperate places, I'm thinking of sending them something once a week to keep them up to date via email. Any thoughts? ideas?

I hope they release those hours soon! Disney has been so slow in doing all that lately it seems.

As far as something to send via email...maybe a countdown type of thing, like "45 days from today, we'll be...." or some Disney Trivia. Or maybe recalling an old Disney memory, with a pic would be even more fun!

Just some random thoughts...:goodvibes

I am adding a day at Discovery Cove and you get a ticket for Seaworld too for the next day I think. I need to know what my ADR's are going to be to schedule those. We do get the hopper option because my son is Autistic and you just never know what the day is going to be like but that doesn't mean I want to spend my trip criss crossing WDW to get my ADR's.
