I totally forgot to share my engagement ring with you guys!!

http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii189/krloco821/010.jpg

I'm totally in love with it... I think it looks much better in person than it does in the picture. It sparkles alot more! (Do any of you other brides notice by the way, that when you are waiting in line for certain rides that your ring sparkle alittle extra than normal??) The center stone is a 1 carat princess cut (LOVE princess cut diamonds!:lovestruc) and there are five small diamonds on each side. It was exactly what i wanted! DFI is amazing!:cloud9:

Good Afternoon Ladies!

As per Jo's request i'll post some of my dress pictures! I wasn't going to post these because i'm not it in! The dress is 2 sizes to big.. bummer i know... but i got an unbelievable deal on it so i couldn't pass it up!

So here's my wedding dress story ~ I went to David's bridal with my sister and tried on almost everything there... and nothing was really jumping out at me. To be honest (and if there are any brides who've bought from them reading this don't take offense to this) I didn't feel like they were quality material... atleast most of them weren't. I did work at a dress shop in high school that did alot of prom dress sales with all designer names so i have to say that when it comes to material i can be kind of a snob...:snooty: I don't mind to be but for the money david's wanted for some of their dresses i wasn't impressed. So feeling defeated I started looking online for some dresses. I fell in love with a simone carvalli but later found out how much it was and almost fainted ... they wanted how MUCH!?!?! So again feeling defeated i started looking on craigslist and on ebay. (alright i know this sounds tacky and grose buying a used dress but trust me this is worth it) As i was searching ebay (at work on work time... shhhh;)) I notices a very strange looking dress in a photo. I clicked on it and was very intrigued but couldn't figure out why! So i called me boss over and had her look at it... she was curiouse too! So she said i think this girl in the pictures is very short because this dress doesn't seem to be hanging right. So i asked the sell the maker and style number. To my surprise the dress was a Casablanca Diamond Collection dress. Not only was it a designer gown it was never worn! She bought it and decided it wasn't the dress for her... it still has the tags on it!!!!!!!!! I had done alot of research on Casablanca gowns and i loved a few of them. I Looked up the diamond collection and apparently they are rare... only a few of each style are made and distributed. So i looked up the style number and found the dress on another bride... i was floored! I fell in love instantly! :lovestruc There was no reserve on the dress and bidding was only at 2$!!!!:woohoo: I decided to watch the item.

One morning i came in and went to look up the dress to see if anyone had placed a bid and to my horro it was GONE!!! :scared:I had the girls email address and emailed her frantically asking her what happened? She told me that she wasn't sure she wanted to part with it but she'd know by the end of the weekend because she was going dress shopping again. I was so upset that i cried! (i know big baby!) So Sunday night comes and no emails.. i was convinced my gown was gone. Before bed that night i said to myself "ya know what, i'm going to check my email one more time" And low and behold... i had an email!! SHE FOUND A NEW DRESS!!! :dance3:She said she'd put it back on ebay in the morning and send me the listing link!

The next morning I had an email from her and clicked on the link. Something was different... she had a buy it now or best offer option!!! I was sad again... there was no longer a no reserve bidding war going on. The buy it now price was 600$... If i wanted to spend that i would've gotten a dress at Davids. Sadly i looked over at my boss and told her the bad news. She said "well, how much are you willing to spend?" I told her 325$ she said "well make her an offer... worse case senario she says no to the offer and you know to start looking again." So i throw in the offer. My day goes by and i check a few patients in.. make a few appointments... and then decide to check my email... 1 new mail... from ebay... i open it... and it says... CONGRATS! YOU'VE WON THE CASABLANCA WEDDING GOWN!!!.... I couldn't believe it! I started jumping up and down and yelling "I won, I won, I won!" :yay:

Thats the story of my dress... I tried it on in work...hahaha... and it is too big but not too bad. I need it taken in at the bust and hips.

Well here it is......

Well thats it on my bed  i should be getting it fitted soon... i don't want to do it too soon but my aunt knows a tailor and he said we could just do the bustle for not and pin the bust and hip area and then i'd come in again when it gets closer and the do the final alterations. We'll see though... i'll keep you girls informed!

P.s. 1 year 6 months and 17 days!!!

I'm so glad you love it.... I haven't been able to show too many people it so hearing you say you like it makes me feel awesome! :cloud9: I really really love it. It looks so much better on... well if it fit it would! :rotfl2:

I just can't wait to do this. I know it sounds cliche but DFI is so amazing. I'm going to post some home removation pictures soon but we did it all ourselves (when i say us i really mean mostly him:rolleyes1) and just watching how he takes care of the house stuff and me it just makes me so happy. I guess i'm not really explaining it to well. Bottom line, with the hott mess that is my family, i know i can always count on him and he'll always be there. He's the love of my life.

Ok enough sappy stuff!

Jo thanks again for sticking with me!

I really like the birdcage veil... i'm going to have to try a birdcage veil with it. I have no idea what to do with my hair/veil situation! I haven't even thought about it to be honest. i've just seen some birdcage veils and thought they seemed really vintage and i love vintage! :goodvibes But we'll see, i think i'm going to start surfing the internet for some hair styles i might like. WOOT WOOT!! A Patriots fan! Oh now you know I'll be here all the way! :woohoo:I've been a fan since the Super Bowl in 1986 - I was all of 4, but it's one of my earliest memories!

My DF actually grew up in Rye/Portsmouth, NH! Small world huh?

Trust me - wayyyyyyy too far up here! After I graduate from UMaine next year, we're coming back south - hopefully around Portland or ME/NH border. :thumbsup2

About your jewelry ideas - I think #3 is perfect. It seems to match your dress perfectly. I agree with the 2nd one not being enough wow.

But keep looking around on Ebay - with how that dress came to you, you never know about the jewelry... :flower3:

DFI and I take the dogs walking around RYE all the time! (we also like driving around looking at those mansion by the water!) :cloud9: In another life i'll buy a mansion. Very small world though! I have to say i like where we are.... i'm 15 mins from kittery... Love those outlets! the beaches are 5 mins from my house, and i still am able to keep my job in MA. :thumbsup2

Anyway back to jewelry... i'm leaning towards number 3. I think it'd match too... but we have a year and a half... i'm not going to jump into anything. One thing i've learned from this whole dress thing is that if something is meant to be it'll be!

i love your dress by the way, i cant believe it to be honest! a great find, yay for you!

i know what you mean about the disney jewellery being really expensive! they are really nice those ones you picked out, i think matching the jewellery to your to the detailed parts of the dress, the diamonte areas, would look stunning.

Hey Jo,

things went ok today... not other lay offs so far but one of the CFO's were in and watching every move we all made. My boss got some good news though and apparently it'll only be one day a week of awkwardness the rest of the week it'll be buisness as usual. So we'll see... I did however get a phone call about a job i had applied for. :thumbsup2

i think for flowers throwing in some white wouldnt be an issue. gerber daisies are in bloom that time of year i think and when done right along with navy roses would look gorgeous (personal opinion lol)...however what about blue/purplish hydrangeas or iris flowers for the bouquets? or i have read elsewhere people adding in a hint of bright green or yellow with the blue flowers to really make them pop

im thinking blues and silvers for my wedding to and was planning at looking at hydrangeas and iris's...so thats about all ive got hahaha

but if you go with silk flowers you really have the capability of creating anything, even a different bouquet for each bridesmaid. if you chose to do red, maybe you could skip the white and just do silver (therefore avoiding patriotic themes?)

hey there Katiebug-

Well---- I love the last BM dress--- it is beautiful.

ANd- if I was doing a navy blue wedding- I totally would do a silvery- grey color accent-- maybe Blue Hydrangeas with a silvery-grey wrapping around the stems.
I wouldn't do silk flowers, but that's personal preference.

My Mom did my bouquet- and all the flowers-- pale, pale pink roses with white sash-- my girls carried Silver tussie-mussies of baby roses-- their dresses were a pale pink champagne/blush color.

and my Three- (yes, three!) flower girls carried daisies- and had a garland of daises in their hair. The smallest of them threw rose petals.

On my cake- which, btw cost me more than my dress--- had dendrobium orchids, roses and some other flowers that cost me a mere fortune, and now I can't remember the name of them.
The baker was the same one who did Reese Witherspoon/Ryan Phillipe's wedding cake, thus the cost-- although, my wedding WAS before theirs.:goodvibes
It was unbelievably yummy.
Mighty Mighty just asked me the other day why we spent so much on the cake-- and I looked at him like this:

Um---- Dendrobium Orchids are white if you need white flowers. But they are $.

How are things at work??

JO,

Thats kind of cool about the wedding cake being made by the same baker as ryan and reese! Thankfully my wedding cake is included in my wedding package... i'll post my options later and see what you girls think on that decision. :goodvibes

I'm glad you like the last dress... its my favorite so far. I'm going to take my sisters to David's as soon as i can figure out their work schedules.

Work was ok today... so far so good. I did call back the company who called me after recieving my resume but they're pay is 3$ less an hour and the house are not good... i'd go from a 6:30-2:30 schedule to 12:30-9:00pm. I'd never see DFI and i'm such an early bird i'm normally in bed by 9!:rotfl2: But thats only one job we'll see who else gives me a call.

Hey Katie!!

I was going to do a navy blue and yellow wedding. So I have a few pictures of the blue flowers. This one is from a DISBride's wedding (StitchBride I think...)

http://i399.photobucket.com/albums/pp74/IceCat516/Wedding001-1.jpg

So you could get the flowers deep blue, or even darker. Mindy5648 had a "marine" colored wedding, so look for her PJ!

The dress that you like in marine is this one right?

http://i399.photobucket.com/albums/pp74/IceCat516/dress-1.jpg

That was one of the ones I was considering when I started. :thumbsup2

Good luck with the job hunt! Keeping my fingers crossed for you!!

i love the BM dress !! hahhaha its a good thing we dont know each other because thats so the color im looking at (along with serene and horizon) I had a BM dress from Davids last year, and although if you got water on it, it tended to stay that way for the night, it cleaned up beautifully at the cleaners and i actually had it altered into a cocktail dress (im not one for long dresses but it was so pretty and i liked the color) plus generally for the price you cant go wrong ..however i would caution, if they need alterations not to use their alterations department ( i have horror stories from friends)

and im doing a home wedding, hopefully when i can start planning we will find a nice venue (im hoping for something near water) and then doing a disneymoon...i wish i could do a dftw, but my family wouldnt be too happy( too many people to cut off the list) and since they are paying i suppose i should atleast try and make them happy a little bit

and im doing a home wedding, hopefully when i can start planning we will find a nice venue (im hoping for something near water) and then doing a disneymoon...i wish i could do a dftw, but my family wouldnt be too happy( too many people to cut off the list) and since they are paying i suppose i should atleast try and make them happy a little bit

I've heard those horror stories about Davids alteration department. My sister knows a little italian women who does alterations out of her house. She did all the high school girls prom dresses in my home town... shes amazing! I may be bringing my wedding gown to here. :thumbsup2 My sister will be a senior the year we are getting married so i hope she can get two uses out of the BM dress.

We couldn't do a DFTW because we are paying for it and because DFI's mother and grandparents don't fly. But i'm planning on throwing little disney touches into my wedding... DFI is all for it too! :cloud9:

Good Morning ladies...

So i've been having alot of anxiety lately.... between the lay offs, my family's issues, and worrying about certain people making a scene at my wedding. I just feel like as far as the wedding goes most normal people don't have to tip-toe around so many people that they're afraid of causing problems on their special day. Anyone else dealing with this?:confused3 I almost wish we'd just elope... i actually dialed the disney wedding line to ask about the escape wedding. :guilty: DFI's family doesn't fly so I felt bad and hung up the phone. (good girl) DFI got home from work and i just broke down. I feel bad putting that on him... its not his family thats a hot mess its mine and he doesn't have to put up with it, but he does. (best guy ever) He told me not to worry though and to think about things that make me happy. So after a good nights sleep with my awesome puppies sleeping right by me i'm starting to feel alittle bit better. :) I'm just not going to let anyone bother me anymore. Ive tried to make peace enough times where there is nothing more for me to do. So I just have to learn to let it go.

Anyway to make myself feel better last night I started looking at pictures of the BWV's which is where we'll be staying on our disneymoon.:woohoo::yay::cool1: Here are some of my favorite pictures of the resort that i found online.

http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii189/krloco821/3358178942_8c770a4ced.jpg

I can't wait to pull up to the hotel in the ME bus. :cloud9::love::lovestruc We've always wanted to stay there since the first time i took DFI in 2007. I'm pretty excited about this. Anyone ever stayed there have any advice on a room request or things we should check out while we're there? I really want to go to Jellyrolls. :thumbsup2

I know its alittle premature but i'm starting to think of places to make ADR's too!:lmao: Its one of my favorite things to plan!

Oh yea and does anyone know how the week after columbus day week is crowd wise? I've been for columbus day weekend back in 2001 and it was alittle crowded. I know the food and wine festival is going on and that i'll be more crowded on the weekends but how about during the week?

Alright well i'm off to do some house work:laundy: but i'll be checking in periodically!

Thanks girls:hug:

alrighty KatieBug, this is coming from your older, wiser, been around the block a few times "sis"---;)

The people who show up to your wedding because they love and care for you without any expectation of something in return--- are the people you want in your life.
The others who come, show their tails, then smile in secret- hoping your life turns out a little bit like the pathway they have chosen for themselves-- are the ones you can and shouldlive without.

You are creating a life for yourself with Adam-- with or without their help.

Your wedding day is about YOU- not your mom, your inlaws- your friends, your cousin's--- no one but YOU and Adam. That's the way it is.

Will things go wrong on your wedding day? Of course. They always do. It's a fact of life- b/c you cannot control every single, minute deatil that occurs that day.

But go into it with the full realization that at the end of the day-- whether your Mom comes and gets completely wasted drunk, falls down and foams at the mouth-- or shows her underwear to every person on the dance floor---
IT DOESN'T CONCERN YOU.

It's NOT a reflection of who you have become.

It's not about her. It's about you.

And as your car pulls out of the lot of the reception- and you look at Adam, take a moment and breathe... and thank God for the Man He brought into your life.

Because when it's all said and done--
you'll be married- and you will still be happy, no matter what.

Don't stress yourself out. You're too young and worrying cannot change one thing about the situation.

Take it as it comes. And then be done with it.

Enjoy this time--- it doesn't last forever.

:hug::hug::hug:

Hope you're having a good weekend.

Jo

Jo,

:hug::worship::hug:

Between you and Adam I'm not going to have anymore anxiety over this! I also won't need to be institutionalized by the time the wedding comes either! :lmao:

You are absolutly right. Everything you said makes perfect sense. I've been dealing with my parents and their issues for far too long. I have myself and MY family to worry about now (I consider my dogs my children) and MY family is the most important thing in my life.

Thank you for all of your wisdom I'm glad i have a "big sis" to keep me grounded. You're the best!

On another note... I had a pretty good morning!

I cleaned and did laundry while DFI went out and did a side job :thumbsup2 After cleaning I finished a Lifetime Movie (guilty pleasure) and then decided i should go out and for some retail therapy. I thought i could use some new make-up since i threw alot of mine out after the move. *side note* all of our stuff went into storage after our apartment bulding caught fire and were went to live with family, my make up some how was packed away and when we moved into our new house and started going through things all (and i mean ALL) of my make up was melted from the hot storage unit...:headache:
So i headed over to CVS... they were having an awesome rimmel london sale... everything buy 1 get 1!!!:woohoo: I was psyched, i got new eye liner, new mascara, two new eye shadows, new hair products and only spent 20 bucks!! SCORE!!! :thumbsup2

Good Evening ladies!

Quick update before i hit dreamland....

My aunt and sister came over today and I tried on my dress for them. They were trying to figure out how we'd bustle it and my aunt (with her hand up my dress) found a button!!! After finding the button she found the loop that the button belonged to and TA-DA!!! I was bustled! I was psyched! One less thing the seamstress will need to do.

Alright well thats all for now... hope you all have a wonderful weekend! Talk soon!

Ok where to start, first of all you started your PJ while I was in WDW so I am just catching up now, so I apologize to a fellow MA/NH/ME (lets just say New England lol) bride! Too funny your DF works in Newton where I live, small world! You guys make a great couple:goodvibes
Your dress is amazing, what a find! I have a casablanca dress too and love it, they are so flattering. Once you have it altered to your measurments you will swear that you have lost 10 lbs! I am not sure how they do it, but Casablanca dresses make you look like you have the best figure lol! I put mine on and suddenly had a teeny waist, it was awesome!
I actually went to shower at Granite Rose, it is really nice! Your photographer will get some great outdoor NE fall shots there for sure, they will be amazing!
Where is the cake going to come from? I vote to spend the extra and do the castle cake, it looks amazing and I bet it will taste even better!
Oh and PS- you puppies are super cute! DF and I want a dog but have to wait a bit until my schedule calms down.

Hey Sam!!!
The cakes are from Jacques Pastries in suncook NH. I had never heard of them but the more research i did i found out how good they were! There is even something on theknot.com :thumbsup2

I'm glad you liked the granite rose! The second we went in i knew it was the place for us. Which room were you in? we're going to be in the terrace room since we're having a small wedding. I'm just hoping for the weather to be nice enough to get married outside. I can freeze for an hour if i must!

I love casablanca gowns! I saw them in magazines and thought that they were so pretty but i wouldn't be able to afford them... i was so psyched to get it!!:woohoo:

Thanks for the nice comment about my puppies! They're my babies!
p.s. i'm still pushing for the castle cakes!

I was thinking the same thing about the polka dot cake! I had just told DFI that we could make mickey heads out of them and see if anyone else notices! :lmao:

Good morning ladies!

I have been trying to catch up on all of your PJ's :surfweb: and the one thing i've noticed is that my engagement story isn't here. It is in my last TR but i figured i'd make it easier for you girls and post it here. Enjoy!

Welcome to the “Nothing ever goes right but who cares!” Report. I’m writing this for a couple of reasons, one I love my friends on the DIS and promised my November 2008 buddies a report of some kind, and two my DBF (Adam) and I got engaged on our trip. I am so excited about the engagement but I don’t even know where to begin as far as planning a wedding is concerned. I should also mention the DF and I bought a house together and are still in the process of unpacking remodeling, so as far as a wedding is concerned we are not planning on anything until atleast 2010. So that being said lets get into the report…
I was so excited for this vacation, I had everything planned and couldn’t wait to get on the plane. The day before we left was Nov. 1st and I had a hair appointment scheduled for 10 that morning so I could have my hair colored. **side note** I had a feeling that the then DBF was up to something due to some weird behavior the few days leading up to the vacation so it was very very important to me to look my best! Anyway I went in to see my hairdresser who I’ve been seeing for 5 years and was telling her all about how excited I was for my trip. I have a hard time sitting still and was bobbing my head around to the tune of the mickey mouse club when the hair dye started to drip down my head. No biggie I thought, it happens all the time it’ll come off with that dye remover stuff later. **another side not** please notice the title of this report. So DBF came to pick me up after my hair was all done and my hair dresser said “oh honey come here let me get that dye off of your forehead! You don’t want to look like that in pictures!” She came at me with a face cloth full of dye remover and started to scrub my head. This had been done many times before to me but it especially stung this time. I didn’t think too much about it and we left the salon. On the drive home DBF looked over at me and said “ummm I think you should take a look at your forehead it doesn’t look too good!” I pulled down the visor mirror and to my horror the dye remover had burned the skin right off of my forehead!!! I cried for a good 20 mins. How could this have happened? I’d gone to the same hairdresser and used the same products for 5 years and this time I end up looking like a burn victim?? Ok Ok, I wasn’t going to let this small little inconvenience completely ruin this trip that I’d been planning for over a year. So like a good girl I sucked it up and finished packing.
The next morning we woke up at 5am and packed up the car and left for the airport. We got to the airport and DBF was insisting that he carry the carry-on backpack. So I let him have it, heck what did I want to carry it for anyway? We went over to the café and had some Dunkin for breakfast before heading through security. We finished breakfast and headed over to security. We got the the front of the line and we took off our shoes and put everything including the backpack onto the xray machine. I was waiting for the attendent to wave me through the metal detector when I heard in the nastiest voice “Huh, looks like someone is getting a nice engagement ring on their vacation.” ……. I was completely stunned. I couldn’t move. I looked back at DBF who looked like he was either going to beat the man or cry and I just said “oh my god”. We both walked through the metal detector and over to our gate without saying a word. I didn’t know what to do. I grabbed my cell phone and ran to the bathroom crying. I called and woke my mother and told her what happened. She told me to stop crying and to go be with Adam. She said he was upset enough and I would make it worse if he saw me this upset. So I washed my face and walked over to security and expained what happened to a manger who looked like she could give a flying elephants butt and then returned to my seat at the gate next to Adam. I hugged him and told him that the guy was a jerk and not to worry about it. I told him I still didn’t know what it looked like or how he was going to ask so to just forget it even happened. I also made him laugh alittle when I said “honestly, did you think you could as me of all people to marry you without something going wrong?? HELLOOOO look at my forehead! I’m bad luck!” He said he was ok (I knew he still wasn’t) and we boarded the plane.
During the flight I got his mind off of what had happened, we played hang man, and tic tac toe, and talked about what we were going to do once we got to the hotel. Once we got off of the plane we had honestly forgotten (as much as we could) about the terrible event at security. We walked over to the ME podium and got right on the bus headed for the AKV, no wait at all! I was so excited I was bouncing up and down in my seat. We were the last to be dropped off and I couldn’t believe the resort. What a beautiful place. We walked into the lobby and our mouths hit the floor! **side not** AKV is a HUGE upgrade from our 2007 trip when we stayed at ASSp. Here are some pictures…

We went to our room and I couldn’t believe the sights! We had a savannah view room! I was so excited.

After we got settled into our room we went on alittle exploration of the hotel. It was magnificent. We hung out by the pool and then headed back to the room. Our luggage had arrived from ME so we got ready for our ADR at Boma that night. We went alittle early but they seated us within a few mins. What an awesome dinner we had! It was yummy! I was worried DBF wouldn’t like it but he was a good sport and tried alittle of everything and he thought it was great. After dinner we went back up to the room and got into bed. We put on the TV and watched the TOP7 with stacey (DBF likes her lol) and fell asleep.

**that was my first post... i felt it needed to be told again so you all get why i HATE TSA security!!! (ok not all TSA security on the one's at MHT!!!!)

Day Three

So Tuesday Nov. 4th started off like the day before with me waking up very very very early. The only difference this time was that I grabbed my cell phone and went out to the balconey. My Best friend Kristen, who is also my co-worker, was covering my shift at work so I knew she’d be up at work by 6:30 so I called the office. She answered the phone with a tone in her voice like “Who the Heck is calling the MRI center at this hour!?” I said hello and gave her the full update from the airport fiasco and I thought she was going to have a heart attack. She was so excited for me. Then it registered to her that I was up at 6:30 on my vacation and she quickly scolded me for not sleeping in. I chatted with her about the day before and what our plans were for the rest of the day and then her first patient of the morning came in and said good-bye… not before she made me promise to call her as soon as I was asked.

I went back into the room and put on the weather channel because while I was on the phone I noticed it was pretty nippy outside. According to the obnoxiously perky weather girl it was going to be in the high 70’s low 80’s by noon. Perfect. So I turned it off and made my way to the shower. I put on a jean skirt, my new pink tank top, with my little black zip up sweatshirt… I figured hey my legs would be cold in the morning but it was supposed to be in the 80’s later. Adam got up shortly after and got dressed for the 80’s too. **Side not this all becomes relevent soon I promise** We didn’t have and ADR for breakfast so we headed down to the mara QS for something to eat. We sat at the table and he asked what we were doing for today. I told him we had an ADR at Le Cellier at 1:55 for lunch and then I had booked a carriage ride at FW. He seemed pretty excited because we had both wanted to head over to FW and WL to check it out. After breakfast we headed over to our favorite park EPCOT.

Finally after 3 MK and 2 AK buses an EPCOT bus came rolling in. It was a full one! We of course let the families with little ones on first and then made our way on…. We found two seats next to each other and squeezed in. When I sat down I felt something odd, at first I thought it was the backpack but when I looked down the backpack was on the floor under Adam’s legs… it was something in adam’s cargo shorts pocket… is was hard, square, and small… I was going to throw up he had the ring in his pocket. My initial reaction was “OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG!!!!!!” My next reaction, as is my reaction everytime something freaks me out, was I need a bathroom!!! The bus ride to EPCOT was crazy long. When we finally arrived we went through bag check and went in. He asked me what I wanted to do first and my response was “Bathroom” not a sentence a statement. After my bathroom break we headed over to SE because it was being renovated last time we were there.
I loved the new upgrades! It was fun seeing how you can make your future. After that we headed over to Soarin to get a fast pass, then over to TT which had only a 15 min wait. TT is one of our favorites.

I stared at his pocket the entire time waiting in line. It was in there! Good Lord when was he going to ask me!!! ARG!!! After TT I again needed another bathroom. Everytime I looked at his pocket or thought about it I needed to find a bathroom. We headed over to the living seas and did Nemo and Friends and found a new favorite thing… the cuddle fish… Don’t know why but I liked it. (random i know) Anyway after watching the dolphins for a good half an hour we headed back to the land for soarin. Soarin is cool but honestly people don’t see what the big deal is?? After soarin I started thinking again and needed to hit another bathroom… by this third bathroom break Adam knew something was wrong… he thought it was something we ate and I let him think that! HA!

We started to get hungry but it was only 12:30. Another hour and twenty mins before our Le Cellier ADR. So we decided to walk to countries clockwise and end up in canada last and hopefully be there close enough to our ADR to be seated. We enjoyed the coutries and were happy to discover that the food and wine festival was still going on and stopped at a few countries to try some food. However we were extremely cold! Going from building to building we didn’t notice that the sun NEVER came out but once we started walking to countries we noticed… big time. I was so cold that my legs were turning purple. So although we were trying to use up time walking the countries we ended up power walking through them and ended up at le cellier at 1:00. I was so cold that we just decided to go and see if we could be seated early. The hostess said most likely no but we could still check in and sit inside to wait and they would try and get us in ASAP. I was happy with that it was warm in there! We got our buzzer, sat down… and vioala! Within 5 mins they were able to seat us! SWEET! We had never been to Le Cellier and I could now see why it was so hard to get in there! What a small place! We had a very nice waiter and he sat us and brought us out favorite canadian beer labatt blue and took our order. I got the filet mignon and Adam got the New york Strip (men!) I started to wonder in my head if we he was going to ask me while we were here. It seemed romantic enough… uh oh… had to go to the bathroom again! Well the food came quickly and it was deliciouse! I licked the plate clean! After desert, the check, and no ring I started to get anxiouse… what was the hold up??

After le cellier we decided it was just too cold and we went back to AKV to change into some warm clothes before heading over to FW for the carriage ride… Oh MY! The carriage ride!! He was totally going to monopolize on my idea of a carriage ride and ask me then!! I knew it! Ok so I’m sure by now you’re all on the edge of your seat so I’ll make this quick. We headed back to AKV I changed, he wouldn’t change infront of me, made me leave the room (I’m guessing the ring switched to his pants from his shorts), got the bus to MK, from there got on the ferry boat to FW, and fast foreward to docking at WL. We got off and I was loving FW. It reminded me of going camping in North Conway NH. We were pretty early for our carriage ride we walked around a bit and went over to check out the little ponies. So cute! After the ponies we headed over to the big barn and saw the draft horses getting all dolled up for the carriage ride. We walked back over to Crockett’s Tavern and went up to the service window and ordered some wine. I knew it was coming… and I needed another bathroom break. After the bathroom I went back over and sat in a rocking chair next to adam and waited for our carriage to arrive. It drove up and we hopped in. It was so much fun! My heart was pounding though… the anticipation was killing me!!! We went down this little road for about 15 mins and all of a sudden the driver started to turn around to head back… What?? No ring?? Huh! Jerk! I started thinking maybe it wasn’t going to happen until the fireworks at EPCOT and started to relax… when all of a sudden adam said “I think you should put your wine down.” My words… “I don’t wanna…” He laughed and took it from me anyway. He grabbed my right hand and started to say something when I said “Um, if you’re doing what I think you’re doing you’ve grabbed the wrong hand.” He laughed and switched hands and said “Katie, you told me last year when we were here that it was always your dream to get engaged in disney. You made my dream come true when you trusted me enough to buy the house with me. I would like to prove to you that you can always trust me and that my love isn’t going anywhere.” (cue the tears) He reached in his pocket and pulled out the box I’d been staring at all day and said “Will you marry me?” I cried and cried and cried… it was beautiful and exactly what I always imagined it would be. I didn’t move, just cried. After what seemed like an eternity he said “Um is that a yes and would you like to put it on?” I laughed and said yes and he put the ring on. As soon as the ring was on the driver said “Oh look!” and pointed to our right and there was a family of deer running through the woods right next to us. It was amazing! The driver also noticed I was crying and said “Ok either he just spilled your wine or he asked you to marry him, which was it?” I showed the ring and just laughed. Sadly i was so overwhelmed that i didn't get any pictures of the carriage or us on it... and i'm kicking myself in the you know what! That would've been an awesome engagement photo!

After the carriage ride we went over to the bathroom for my last bathroom break and then over to the WL to check it out. What an awesome resort! Loved it!

While we were there we went outside and started texting friends and family. I called Kristen and she was so excited for me… my entire work place knew in a matter of 30 seconds. We explored alittle more at WL before heading back to EPCOT. We rode TT one more time and then got an awesome spot for Illuminations. Those fireworks are my favorite. It was an awesome way to end the day… sitting on the ground in his arms watching fireworks. We waited for the crowds to die down and headed over to the bus back t AKV. We stopped at the bar and had a celebratory drink of this awesome african beer and then headed back to the room. It is probably the happiest day in my life so far and writing it now I’m crying and still not believing it really happened. So I’m going to go give him a huge hug, tell him I love him, and head to bed.

So that's our engagement story... :cloud9: thank you all for letting me relive it again! :upsidedow

I have a question..... Any of you ladies using the Disney registry? I was thinking that since DF and I have been lving together for almost 3 years now and pretty much have everything we need, there'd be no point to registering at say Bed Bath and Beyond. Since we're on a tight budget and are spending most of our money on the wedding itself I'm wondering if it would be a good idea. :confused3

Anyone whose used it or is currently using it i'd love your feedback!

TIA:thumbsup2

I didn't use the Disney Registry, but I've read that alot of people used it and liked it!:thumbsup2

If I were you, I'd still register at BB&B or somewhere, even if it's just for a few things, or some upgrades on stuff you already have. DF and I have been living together for almost 3 years now too, so we didn't really need anything, but once we started registering, there were tons and tons of stuff that we found that we wanted, and we upgraded alot of the stuff we already had! Plus, there's going to be people who want to get you a physical thing or older people who won't understand how the disney registry works. If you don't register, you might end up with a bunch of stuff that you dont' want, doesn't match, already have, or whatever.

Hey ladies...

Well I had a pretty bad day family wise and had a small meltdown. DF and I are so stressed about how people are going to behave at our wedding that its becoming more about everyone else than it is about us. We both got pretty upset and after thinking about it there are too many people in our lives (or are lacking from them) to do the traditional wedding. I don't even know who's walk me down the isle at this point. :sad2:

So DF said that he was thinking that maybe we should just elope and throw a party after without all the traditonal stuff thats making us have panic attacks. He brought up the disney escape wedding and told me to call them and get all the information. So i did.....

Can i just say how nice the girl was when i called her?! I had just finished crying when I called and she made me feel 100 times better. She explained alot to me, asked why i opted for the escape package... man was that a loaded question... and after telling her, with out the details, she said that this would be a good choice for us.

So now i'm torn. Do I just say ok forget about the despoit money we lost and not do the wedding here and go to Disney? Or do we have the wedding here, do the tradional stuff that deep down i know i want but i'm afraid people will ruin and just do a disneymoon? I'm also worried about how DF's mom is going to feel about it, she's never flown, and i don't know if any of his other family will be able to or want to go. As much as I don't want people to ruin my day I certainly don't want to offend the people that aren't a problem.... I mean to be honest, its mostly my side thats causing the problems. :faint:

I don't know what to do girls... i don't mean to be a downer to the boards... i just need some advice......:worried:

Oh katiebug, I'm so terribly sorry you are going thru such crap when it's supposed to be a happy time in your life.

So... here... pulling out my been-maried-a-long-time hat and pulling up a chair to give out some advice. This is all my opinion.

There are two sides to this equation. Your family- who is causing you the angst, and then Adam's family- who is not.

Then on top of it- you have your wishes and desires-- which should not be overlooked when trying to reach a conclusion. In fact, you should come first, because, duh. You're what matters. You're the Bride.

Search your heart.

In ten years-- will you look back on this and say to yourself with regret "I'm so sorry I didn't have a wedding that I could invite everyone to, regardless of the circumstances of what may or may not happen- or who may or may not show up."
or will you in ten years look back and say "Oh my gosh- I can't believe how bad that day was that was supposed to be the happiest moment in my entire existence-- I wish I could erase it from my memory forever."???

Only YOU can make that call.

Don't worry about the "If I do this so and so will get their feelings hurt". Or, "If I don't do this they may be angry with me."

You are thinking of everyone but yourself- and those who truly love you and matter--
will accept whatever you decide is best for you.

Will it be sad if you don't have a traditional wedding? Yes, possibly. Maybe. But maybe not.

That's something you have to decide.

It doesn't have to be. Many women make the same decision- b/c they can't handle the drama that comes along with the traditional wedding.

Traditional wedding+ Traditional wedding headaches= heartache for the Bride.

Make a decision one way or the other-- and if you feel misery and forlorn over it, I think you have your answer. You do the other.

Also-- since the wedding is so far out- the place might work with you with giving your deposit- or partial back. B/c there's enough time to schedule another wedding in the meantime.
That is if you decide to cancel.

And as far as someone walking you down the aisle--- if it were me- I wouldn't ask anyone to do it.

I honestly think you could make a grander statement by standing up and presenting yourself as a strong woman to your family- by not having anyone "Give you away".
You gave your heart to Adam a long time ago- and really the "giving of the Bride" is just a tradition that could in the end be a real eye opener for many to see you have the courage to do it alone. (Besides- everyone would be looking at YOU and that gorgeous dress- not the person walking the aisle with you.);)

I heart ya girl.

Hope I helped in some small way.

Let me know if you need anything.

Awe Jo!

You always know just what to say.

I cried reading your post. It made me feel so much better. Adam has already told me to email the granite rose and tell them he died or something to try and get the deposit back. He thinks it would be alot easier on him and I and that i've always wanted to get married in Disney so maybe this is what would make us happy.

We're going to think long and hard about it and i'm asking my sisters and his family what they think tomorrow so we'll see what the general thought is.

talk soon!

Jobird, this was great advice!:thumbsup2

I think you just need to decide what will make you happy and go for it, and block everybody else out... except your DF of course, he should have say in it too. When DF and I were planning a DFTW, it was what I wanted, not what DF wanted, and he was going along with it to make me happy, even though his family had no intention on coming. After seeing how disappoined DF was that his family refused to come, we started planning our home wedding again.

In my opinion, the Escape wedding is the easy out. I didn't want to spend the past year planning and dealing with my family and what they think, not to mention it would have been alot cheapher than what we're spending now. There were many times that I've thought "I wish I would have just stuck wtih the Escape wedding so I didn't have to worry about this", but I am glad we're having our wedding at home instead. To be honest, it was a year of stress, but I've also had alot of fun, and I think on the day of the wedding when I am able to share it will all my friends and family, I will be so happy with the decision we made. Not to mention that we'll be going on our honeymoon OURSELVES and not have wedding guests lingering around the park and hotel when we really just want to be by ourselves.

Good Luck with your decision... just out of curiosity, what does your DF think you should do?

Hey angela,

You gave me alot to think about.

As far as DF is concerned he is all for the escape wedding. He is the type that can't stand big weddings. He is going to be a best man for his best friend in July of this year and is freaking out about how he is giving a BM speech infront of 300 people. He comes from a very low-key family, his mom and dad eloped in the white mountains with their best friends and parents. He only sees his extended family on holidays and would be much happier without the big grand affair. It was more me that wanted the whole traditional wedding and I kind of pushed him towards that.:guilty:

Today DF and I were searching the boards for more info on the escape wedding and we actually ended up looking at all of lynn and tim's pictures (lynn, if you're reading, you made DF say "please call the reception hall and tell them i died or something to get the depsoit back, i wanna do this!") He just thinks that it would be more our thing and we could have a party here at our house when we got back. Which does make sense.

As far as disneymoon crashers are concerned, DF and I would still like to get married in the fall. Escape weddings are only M-F and M-T for WP. So what we came up with is that if we had our wedding on a Friday our siblings wouldn't need to miss too much of school. They could come down on thursday for the rehursal, stay friday for the wedding, and saturday to have fun and leave sunday to be back at school on Monday. We'd just stay longer to be alone. :lovestruc

I don't know, my head is swirling with this decision. I accidentally washed my hair twice in the shower this morning because it was all i could think about. (such a goof!) But I HAVE made on decision... no matter what we decide to do I will make the absolute best of it... no matter what happens.

Thank you again JO and Angela! :grouphug:

Katie,
I think you have gottn your answers covered, because in the end all it comes down to is what is going to make you and Adam happy.

Planning an at home wedding is stressful enough, then adding in the family is a whole new level, sometimes you may think its worth it, sometimes its really not. its unfortunately only something you can sit back and decide.

A disney wedding may be something that is just what you need, you have plenty of time to plan, and this isnt the first time you have been stressed by family issues. If you are upset already and having fears of what will happen now, i just worry how you will be that day, this is your day and all that should be going through your head is how happy you are

Ultimately this is your day (and adams too somewhat haha) you need to make yourself happy......nobody should be hurt or disapointed if you choose to do a disney escape wedding....they should be happy for you. or if you choose an at home wedding then they should be just as happy but either way they shouldnt give opinions and they should nt make you upset

you just need to sit down and sit back with adam look at all your options, and decide for yourselves -what will make you smile the most on that day

I'm so confused. :confused3 I emailed my aunt and asked her what her opinion was... and she was pretty on board with whatever i decide to do but she was leaning more towards keeping the wedding here as oppsed to disney (which surpised me since shes my DVC, Disney Lovin, Mickey is the only man in her life aunt) She said that My family is my family and regardless of what I might think now that doesn't neccesarily mean that things will all go down the tubes on my special day. She's afraid i'm not going to do what I want to do because i'm worried about everyone else. I think i'm going to sit down with adam tonight, finalize the guest list for our wedding here and really think about how we want to do this.

Lol...you shouldnt ALWAYS do what your DF wants....if I did then i would be getting married @ the courthouse!

:lmao: DF would LOVE to do that! Sometimes i feel like i would too but that quickly fades away. ;)

To be honest ladies I will admit to have a severe anxiety problem... but i've had it for a few years because my family situation was alot worse before i met DF. (I guess you could say he's my real life prince charming:)) I've just had some of the most important days in my life ruined, prom, graduation, my band concert (yes i was a band geek:rolleyes:) college, the first night in the new house.... i'm just so worried all the time because it's all i seem to know.

My aunt's moto of the day to me was "if you don't know what to do, Don't do ANYTHING!" and I'm going to stick with that for right now. We'll see how i feel after i talk to everyone involved and take a few days to think it over with DF.

Thank you girls for helping me out... i really really really appreciate it :grouphug:

Awww Katie! I an see the girls on here have already given you amazing advice:goodvibes. I am sure you will be happy with whatever wedding you choose, just make sure it is what you and your DF want, not what someone says you should do. When we were at the beginning parts or planning our DFTW I was very unsure of all the how to's but I will say that right now I am very calm about the wedding.

I have 8 weddings this year so I am constantly surrounded by bride to be's who are my nearest and dearest friends. Out of all of us I am the most relaxed because I know DFTW will take care of anything we need and I am not running around making tons of calls and setting up meetings with every vendor known to man.

In terms of the Granite Rose, I would call and see what can be done if you decide DFTW is the way to go. I am sure they will work with you, maybe you could have a shower or party afterwards there for a reduced rate on an "off" day... the way the economy is right now I would be very surprised if they didn't give you any options ya know?

Hello girls! :grouphug:

Sorry it took me a while to update... i just didn't want to say anything to anyone until we had made some sort of a decision. So after talking about it all week DF and I are 90% sure we'd rather "escape" to dinsey than do the wedding here. The more we thought about it the more it made sense for us and it was something that made us both more excited and happy. I took the plunge and called D***. I was told by the women who answered the phone that she'd take all of my information and she'd have a wedding planner call me back in the next few buisness days. I'm going to refer to my wedding planner, kristi, as my Disney wedding fairy godmother. (DWFG) She called me back yesterday and i talked to her for a good 15 mins about EVERYTHING. She answered all my questions and I told her that DF and I were planning on talking to the people who matter this weekend to get their thoughts on the idea. She was very helpful and gave me some pointers to talking to the parental units about it and how to make them feel better about it... i think she's had experience with parental units not being supportive, cause she had some good pointers! She even emailed me an escape kit that has all kinds of information on it, like JP's we can use and cosmotologists we can have come to the hotel room to do our hair and makeup. It even has an escape wedding itinerary so DF and I would know exactly what to expect the day of the wedding. :cloud9: I felt sooooo good after talking to me DWFG. I printed out the kit and looked at all the JP's and cosmotologists I was just so happy!

Then my cell phone rings.... It was my dad. He said that he wants to come over tonight and "discuss" the decisions we're making about the wedding... I don't mean to sound like a spoiled brat or anything but my dad has this way of talking that sounds like he's talking down to you, like your five or something, i can't explain it but it just aggrevates me! Not to mention that my dad JUST started talking to me after 4 years. (long story won't bore you) So he doesn't even really know me enough to say anything but i'm worried about how he is going to react to this. DF said he's back me up on everything and even said that he's alittle irritated himself at how much dad is treating me. So tonight ought to be interesting.

As far as DF's family goes... he isn't too worried about them. He thinks that even if they aren't 100% on board they'll still do it because its what will make us happy. DF and I will be going down to their hosue this weekend with all the info we have and see how they react to it. So fingers crossed they'll be ok with everything.

Ok now that thats out of the way....

I COULD BE A DFTW BRIDE!!!!!!!!!!!

Its true - dont let anyone guilt trip you into having a wedding that THEY want. I had it with my family a bit- where my stepmum (who speaks for my dad!! grr) say that its going to be really expensive for them to travel and because of that then they cant give us any money towards the wedding .. and said if we were to have it in the UK then they would be able to give us a few thousand for the wedding and basically help us out a lot - so yeah, they were trying to make it easier for THEM.. and not us .. and we dont really care, i mean, it would be nice for some money in support terms, but we dont care about money- we are having what WE want. I swear they keep trying to try to make us change our mind because they dont want to go to disney or do the travelling because they only like to go on holiday in Spain or somewhere cheap like that (even though they have money!!)

Dont stress yourself out about it.. no matter how hard of a time either family may give you, you need to think of yourself and DF. - Just think, if you was to go along with what they want you to- will you regret it? YOU need to what whatever wedding YOU want.

I hope everything turns out okay, im sure it will, although there will always be some obsticules but as long as you and DF are getting what you want, then you can be strong together and fight the world!! hehe

The money thing is whats making DF's family alittle weary but I mean us disney brides aren't the only people who do Destination Weddings.. right? I mean does everyone have this problem? The way DF feels... if we mean enough to them they'll find a way to get there.

DF and I are paying for our wedding ourselves regardless of the location which is also another reason why this is OUR decision to make. So if anyone is really that opposed to it then i'll just say "ok well how about YOU can pay for the wedding here" It's just so hard to be so relaxed about it like DF. He isn't worried in the least... he's more relieved about doing the wedding in Disney than worried about how people will reactto it. I just hate when people aren't happy with me. But here is my new philosophy for the day "Hakuna Matata" (i posted that as my status on facebook and my friends think i'm nuts! :rotfl2:)

i know its hard but you need to be pretty selfish - its your wedding. Its true- you are paying for it so whats the problem.. if people only have to find the money to get there then surely isnt it the same if it was a different part of the country- i think sometimes, well with my family- my dad and his family have not been to disney, in fact they never travel anywhere thats a flight longer than 4 hours.. but thr disney thing- some people really dont care about disney, like they think its crap or something - or almost like a joke? My DF told his Dads step daughter (the first time he met her!) about the wedding and pretty much laughed in his face - and basically thought it would be tacky (this is coming from a girl that would have her wedding in south of france ect.. to prove a point- she is trying to be something she is not). I mean, yeah that hurt, and my god, if i was there at that time there would have been a massive fight because some people just dont understand do they?

I just want you to remember that no matter what, its your day, both you and your DF's day- dont do anything you will regretl. You need to look back and think, wow, im so happy with our disney wedding- it was exactly what i wanted ect...

so yeah, if your parents bring up the money issue- then say you are paying for it and you want them just to be there. (when my step mum told me that they could pay for our wedding if it was in UK i just said ''well we DONT want to get married here, we want it in disney so theres nothing else to it''.

To be honest, you dont even have to justify why you want to get married in ANY place .. people should respect what you want for your day. I think maybe you should sit and talk with them all and maybe explain why you are having it there and they might lay off you a bit?

Its just so great that you have such strong support from your DF - no matter what troubles come up ...

Thank you stacy! I'm glad i'm not the only one whose going through this. :upsidedow I definatly am glad i have DF behind me on everything. The more people I talk to the more i'm begining to have the feelings of "this is what i want.. take it or leave it" I feel so much better about everything.... Now if only i can get some of my deposit back from the reception hall...

Sorry to have been MIA...
I've had a bit of a crisis myself...
seems my Drew boy fell out of the swings while we were at a neighbors house for an Easter party on Saturday and Broke not one but BOTH of his arms in the process.

Uh, yeah- that's been fun.:sad2:

Anyway-----
you already have the Princess dress...:lovestruc
girl, you need to ride in that Princess carriage too!!!

Yay for a Disney wedding!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Enjoy tomorrow's weather!

Jo

Oh no!! How is drew boy?? Poor kid... both arms!!!! How long will he be in a cast? I hope he's alright and not in too much pain. Give him a hug for me!

I don't know about affording the princess carriage but i'll definatly be in all my princess glory! :woohoo:

Alright so quick update from work at 6:25 am!:surfweb:

So dad bailed on me... which i should've seen coming since its not the first or last time he's done that to me. Here's what happened, he told me he'd call me thursday and let me know what time i should expect him that night. Well at 5:30 DF was compaining that he was hungry so i said fine i'll call him and see whats up. So i called and apparently i woke him from a "nap" (nap being code for he forgot) He started rambling off excuses why he wasn't going to come up and then said he'd call me over the weekend and we can talk about things then. guess what... no phone call all weekend...:headache:

So after a few curse words and irritation I calmed down and over all had a great weekend with DF. We took the puppies for a nice Looooong walk on the beach,:lovestruc went out for dinner and worked on the bathroom. We tried calling FMIL a few times on saturday but apparently she was out and about.

Yesterday FBIL called DF and asked if he could come over and change out the breaks on his car. Around 4 o'clock FBIL and his GF showed up. The boys went outside to work on the car and the girls stayed inside. Me and the GF were talking and got on the subject of the wedding. Her and I aren't that close but right away she asked me about the Disney idea... How did she know? I fished around for alittle more info and apparently DF's other brother had mentioned it to her. How did he know? So i talked alittle bit about it to her and we also talked about some family drama (which was good... i needed to talk to someone outside the family about it) and that was pretty much it. Once the boys were done with the car we ordered a pizza and hung out.

After they left I asked DF if he had mentioned Disney to either of his brothers... he said no and that the only person he brought it up to was his Mom. I asked him to try calling her again so we could discuss it but at that point it was late and we needed to get to bed. I was so bummed that we didn't get to speak to her and get her take on the whole thing. :sad2: I really wanted to make this a sure thing...

DF promised that he'd give his mother another call this afternoon and try feeling her out again but we'll see. :upsidedow

Aww Katie, hopefully all the talk is because people are excited about the possibility of a DFTW. I think once people understand why you are doing it they are much more recpetive to fact that it is actually a really fun wedding idea:goodvibes. What is your take on the whole situation? Awe Sam you're so sweet!:goodvibes:hug:
Well i'm so bored at work today... with the holiday we're very slow... so i was on facebook (lifes amazing distraction otehr than the DIS) and the GF send me a message. We were talking back and forth about how it was good talking to each other and how she was really psyched about the disney idea. :thumbsup2 Then she said "oh i think i should warn you"... warn me? warn me about what? Well apparently FBIL was told by FMIL that she doesn't think she'll be attending the wedding and that shes going to try and talk us back into the NH wedding... which is why she hasn't give DF a straight answer as to how she feels about the DFTW idea....:furious:

I immediately called DF and told him what i was told and he is not a happy camper. He is very very P.O.ed. He said that we're going regardless of them... he said he doesn't care if they go or not... the two important people will be there and thats all that matters. :cloud9: So we'll see but he is going to be giving her a call and he wants to hear it from the horses mouth. So i'll update you all on that later.

But my hater blockers are on!!!:cool2:

I "held" a date for our escape wedding! :woohoo::yay::banana::cool1:

I'm keeping the same date that we wanted, 10/16/2010. I also got a some information on the DP and DF is all about the desert party! So here is what the wedding consultant and I were thinking....

wedding at SBP on 10/16/2010 @ 5pm
Dinner at Yahctsmen Steakhouse @ 6:30pm
Then Morocco DP

What do you girls think?... you like?

I did all the math and even with the DP the whole wedding will cost less than the reception hall's package which included, food, cake, centerpiece, and room rental.... no DJ, no JP, no Photographer, No limo, No hair and make up, no Flowers... yea you get the picture. So I am very excited and DF is too!

Good morning ladies!!

Sorry i haven't updated in a few days.... the backlash from people has begun now that we announced our wedding plans. :sad2: It took alittle bit of a toll on me in the beginning, i mean when your mom calls after 5 months of not speaking to you to beg you not to "upset" the family and tell you that she'll pay for everything if we get married in a church and have a reception at the ELKS, you know its bad.:lmao: But DF and the support of my DIS girls has brought my spirits back up and I've come to realize that those people who are giving me crap about our decision to have the wedding WE want obviously don't really care about us. If they did care about us they'd be supportive. :snooty:

OOhhh that sounds fantastic! I love Yachtsman!!

I'm glad i'm getting good reviews on the YS. We've never eaten there but DF's family is a steak and potatoes kind of family so i thought it would be a good choice.

Thanks Angela!! I have to admit that SBP is what sold DF i think. He loved the idea of it being near the lake, and close to EPCOT. Even though he is a Guys guy he has a tiny itty bitty sensitive side and i think some of those pictures of the weddings there hit that sensitive side to him!

That is totally the best part IMHO. There is something really cool about that whole idea:cool1:

Hey girls,

I haven't really had anything to report the past few days because to be honest idk what i should be doing!

I know i can't really plan anything until 8 months out when i can actually book the wedding but are there certain things i should be thinking about? I asked a few questions on the wedding boards and got some pretty good feed back but i think i'm going to give you ladies the short version on my questions and see if you girls can help me too!:goodvibes

1.) Escape bouquets - which are you choosing, are you changing/adding anything to it, and could you share some pictures that inspired your choice.

2.) Photography - Are any of you using/already used DPS? Do you think we'll get good pictures through them? *trying to keep the budget low* Would I be smart to make a "must have" picture list? How can i ensure that i get great pictures without hiring an outside photographer?

3.) DP or Fireworks cruise? *and why?*

4.) Cake tables - I've seen different designs on escape cake tables in other trip reports... is this something that you can request or something that is included and you pick a certain style??

5.) How likely is it that i get the time, location, and date that i chose? Its SBP on Saturday 10/16/2010 @ 5:00

6.) How do you escape brides handle not doing anything until 8 months out?!?!?!:rotfl2:

Alright i think thats enough to keep you girls busy. Any input or advice would be much appreciated!

**Thank goodness I have the DIS, you girls are awesome!**:grouphug:

From my own experience, DO NOT allow your family to stop yoou from this wedding in disney. With two months left, I have been beyond angry with myself with not going through with it, and putting myself first for once...

And as hard as it is... YOu have our support. Unfortunately, I didn't use that to my advantage!

1.) Escape bouquets - which are you choosing:
We had chosen simple boquets with gerbera. Franchs will work with you in every step of the way. I would say the more color thebetter for those pics!

2.) Photography - We were going to use the roots until we found out that they were not allowed in the park. In that case we were goign to splurge and use both our photog for outside shots and then their photog for all the good around the park pics

3.) DP or Fireworks cruise? *and why?* Dessert partyall the way. The fireworks cruise is nice, but, limited. I think that the dp is more intimate for those of your family members who have decided to come and you get to wear your dress longer in the parks!

4.) Cake tables - I think they are working on this. For a few dollars more we were getting a cake in our colors with ribbon

5.) How likely is it that i get the time, location, and date that i chose? Saturdays are always hard, esp peak season, so I would have at least three back ups so you aren't too stressed over it!

6.) How do you escape brides handle not doing anything until 8 months out?!?!?! You plan your DIYS!

Very exciting that you're going to be a DFTW bride:cool1:! I think you are making the right choice... I've never heard anyone say they wish they would have had a home wedding and NOT gotten married at Disney- but I've heard plenty of people wish they HAD gotten married at Disney. Hey Heather!:wave2:

I'm hoping for SBP... and when i say hoping i mean i say alittle prayer everynight! Both of my DSis's and FBIL's who are going to be our bridal party are still in college so we don't want them to miss too much of school. so we figured if we do it on a Saturday they could skip school on friday and fly down early that morning with us so we can play in the parks that day, then have the wedding on a Saturday and then they can play in the parks with us on Sunday and leave that night or leave monday morning depending on their class schedules. I just know that saturday is a busy day for weddings from the feedback i've gotten on the boards. The only thing we can be flexible on is the location, i'd be willing to go to the YCG if it would guarentee me my date and time. But I really want SBP!!!

Are you having a Wishes or escape wedding heather?

Morning ladies....

I'm recovering from a rough night... too many margaritas! DF and I each ordered one and then the waitress asked it we wanted the jumbo size and like idiots :headache: we said yes... This thing was like 10 inches in diameter and 5 inches deep of top shelf alcohol. We hung out until DF felt better to drive so that lead to me eating and eating and eating... so on top of the hang over i have a stomache ache. We went to bed pretty late but my lovely dog toby apparently didn't want to sleep last night, he had me up since 3:30. This close to killing him!

I came to the downstairs office with toby to keep adam sleeping and caught up on like EVERYONE's PJ's And they all got me thinking....

Colors! Originaly DF and I thought Navy blue with a silver accent would be a good idea because it would stand out against the foliage. Well now there isn't going to be any foliage... there will however be Palm trees! Dont get me wrong i thought the Navy blue and silver idea was a good one but to me... not original. I loved Toni's Pink and lime green colors, and Carries orange and turquois... both were so unique and looked amazing, it seemed to fit them. I know i'm only an escape bride but to me having such a small wedding gives me the oppertunity to make it our own and unique and fun. Problem is I'm SOOOO not good with things like this. How did you girls decide on your colors and what was your inspiration? If anyone has any ideas for me definatly let me know!:upsidedow

Alright i'm going to try and take a nap... talk again soon!

I have changed my colors a few times too...and I agree, I loved Toni and Carries wedding. I went and looked at paint samples online to see what I liked. My colors changed a bit (green, yellow and pink to green, pink and purple NO PASTELS!) Just start with one (or two colors) and go from there.

If you still want Navy, how about navy and and like a turquoise color?? Nice and bright!

Thanks for reading and welcome! I "held" the date when i spoke to a wedding consultant. I knew i wouldn't be able to book anything until 8 months out so i was ready to get off the phone with her and just start waiting but she said would you like to hold the date? I asked her if we needed to put a deposit down or anything and she said no because we were Penciled in. All that means is that if another bride comes along for a wishes wedding and wants that date and location they will obviously get it and i'll get a phone call letting me know that i need to switch up my day/time/or location.

I can't wait to hear your answers! I really need help when it comes to this whole wedding thing!:rotfl2: I'm going to head over to your PJ later today!:thumbsup2

Hey mandy!

I totally agree with NO PASTELS!!! Yuck! FMIL thought pastels were in and most of her house is painted in pastels it just reminds me of easter.:rotfl: I like bright and warm colors. I'm liking the navy and turqoise idea! Thanks for posting that for me!:thumbsup2 I think that'll make it look more floridian... i'm liking the idea of being able to do brighter colors now... something about fall in new england made me feel like i needed to do darker colors but i feel like i can play around alot more!:woohoo: Maybe i could do a navy, turquoise, and deep pink as the accent color, Or Navy, Turquoise, and a chocolate brown!! Hey 'Bug-

What about chocolate brown and pink- not a pale pale pink. But, you know------- pink.:lmao:

What colors do you wear most? What's hanging in your closet?

Of course, in Florida- everything looks beautiful.

Old hollywood makes me think of red and black, maybe with a touch of champagne or gold.

I like the idea of the navy, turquoise and chocolate...or pink!! Lol

What about teal, pink and brown?

I was wondering when you'd pop in again! I like the brown and pink (not pale) I just dont know how adam will feel about that... he's not a pink kinda guy! I maybe able to get away with pink as an accent color though. Ya know just sneak it in there:rolleyes1

I'm looking at my closet and its not helping... it looks like a rainbow in there!

no matter what i pick though i know it'll look good... its disney!

Lol I know!! When I put it together I started thinking...hmmm I like that for me!!:rotfl2:

I studied Interior Design in college and just love playing with colors. Plus I think you and I are on the same page about No Pastels!!

Df doesn't like pink either, but I think as an accent it's ok. I am going to use it a bit in the ceremony I think and for MOH flowers, and I think he will be ok with that. As long as it's not "Blush and Bashful"

I say RED and Black (mickey's colors;)
Just kidding...

Just as a note I had my heart set on Navy Blue and White and when it came time to choose none of my BMs liked the dress so I settled for Hunter Green (this was the 90's) and actually the BM dresses turned out very nice.

Believe it or not i was thinking about a classic black, white, and red. Very old hollywood, but then i got to thinking and it reminded me of my senior prom. Our school colors were red and white... i wore a black and white dress and had a red corsage... very pretty but i'd rather not relive my prom.

Hmm...As soon as classes are over I'm going to call again and see if I can get pencilled in.... That would make my day! Did you just ask someone that answers the 800 number to have a consultant call you back? I was told I had to wait 12 months out to have be pencilled in....Hmmm...

Here are the answers to your questions...

.) Escape bouquets - Red roses-somewhat open...See PJ for pics.

2.) Photography - While I have seen some DPS that have been good, I want something more than snap shots. We're going with outside photo...DF knows-if my pics are great I won't be happy. But since we are going with outside photo I'm probably gonna nix the video. I feel relatively ok about this b/c we can always have someone video tape and then edit it ourselves...maybe...(Ok sometimes I can be really lazy when it comes to editing video-at least I'm honest.

3.) DP or Fireworks cruise? *and why?* NOPE! LOL DF says that if you want to see the firework you can go to the park for "free" and grab a mickey bar on your way to your spot for $5 or so dollars. :rotfl: He has a point, but he still wants fireworks if we can make it happen...Who knows how that will turn out...but no DP (I'm kind of bummed about this...but I guess that means we can do more for a "reception" dinner.

4.) Cake tables - I've seen different designs on escape cake tables in other trip reports... is this something that you can request or something that is included and you pick a certain style?? I don't know about this. I just DO NOT want "clouding" on my cake table...it looks like someone balled up linens and left them there...

5.) How likely is it that i get the time, location, and date that i chose? Its SBP on Saturday 10/16/2010 @ 5:00 Don't know...I was told to be flexible with date and time and we would more than likely get the location we wanted.

6.) How do you escape brides handle not doing anything until 8 months out?!?!?! LOL...it doesn't stop. It just goes a little slower. I scan for sales for invite boxes, get ideas, dress shop, go to bridal shows (which are kind of a waste-but you get good ideas) Figure out different ways to save, get all my pictures in order so that when I have my phone consultations I can send them via email quickly...Chat with mom and DF about things...(we've had some great conversations lately) I keep a notebook and post here...keeps me occupied. I started officially planning 2 years out and its all good.

As far as being penciled in, i had originally spoken to whoever answers the 800# and I had alot of questions that she just couldn't answer so she took down my name and number and she said she'd have a consultant call me back in 1 to 2 buisness days. The first time i spoke to the consultant i asked her any question i could think of and let her know that we needed that info to figure out approximately what it would cost and a few things to say to family member to get them on board. I let her know that i'd call her a week later and let her know either way. I called her and had a few more questions then said "we want to do it!" She sent me the 2009 escape follow-up kit which explained alot and she said she'd pencil us in!:thumbsup2

well i had alot of questions about the Desert party, the fireworks cruise, the different locations for the ceremony, photography questions, different things we needed to tell our guests, ect.

I had alot of $$$ questions :lmao: So it the person who answers the 800# didn't really know how much the desert party was and wasn't sure about the new photgrapher policy. I'd call and just ask if there is a wedding consultant you can have call you back! Good Luck! Let me know how it goes for you!:thumbsup2

I'm like you Sam I want the bright colors. I think i found a perfect color scheme that will keep DF and I both happy...

Turquoise

and

Chocolate brown

with a pink (deep pink not baby/pastel pink...yuck) accent color!

Thanks to Mandy I got to see what it will look like and then did some more research and found some really pretty weddings. I figure since its an escape wedding i should have as much fun with color as i can! :thumbsup2 I'm thinking turquoise BM dresses with a chocolate sash around them and pink bouquets! I think i'll pay the money and get pink rose petals to put down the aisle and have guests throw. :goodvibes What do you think??

So color scheme picked... for now:rotfl2: So on to other things.

When should we send out STD's? I keep going back and forth about whether or not to send them now or 8 months out when we have the exact date booked. :confused3 Sometimes i think now would be good because that gives guests a year and a half to start saving/making arrangements, it also give certain guest ::cough:: FMIL and DM ::cough:: another wake up call that this IS happening! ( had another issue with FMIL i'll explain later ) I figured if we did it now we could put in there alittle letter stating that we understand not everyone can go blah blah blah and just know the date/location may change blah blah blah. This will also give us a number to work with. If we wait the 8 months out we could verbally tell people to start making arrangements but i'm afraid those certain guest are still going to think we aren't seriouse about our disney wedding. It would however save alot of explaining because by 8 months out we'll know for sure of our date/location/time. Any Advice on this ladies?? Anyone willing to share their STD's??

Oh and I kind of had an impulse buy (which never happens with me) and I bought a WII and WII Fit! I've had it for two days and OMG am i sore. I knew i was outta shape but this is just insane! I've done and hour on it each day and i'm going to try and do an hour a day and loose some of this weight... i wanna look the best i can in that wedding dress!:lovestruc And considering how much i spent on everything I better come out looking like giselle!

I would send them out before the DFTW STD's go out, just so people can sort of expect it (if that makes sense). I just did a lot of guessing on my STD's that I made (very cheap to do btw, I just used Word and made the colors a bit different) I have it somewhere in my PJ, but if you want to PM me your email address I can just send you the word doc that I used and you can see the verbage.

I basically said

"Yes, we are getting married at WDW"

"This is why, so stop bugging us"

and finally "Here are the plans as of now, but formal STD to follow"

It actually worked out really well for us, and I even asked for a tentative RSVP so I was prepared to do my room block when the time came. It worked really well. I also bought some regular envelopes, made some Mickey-fetti an put a "Caution May Contain Pixie Dust" label with tink on the back! (And man oh man did it cut down on silly questions lol!) It also got a lot fo people talkign about it and we have over 150 coming in feb! So I highly recommend doing STD's before DFTW's. Let me know if you need any help girl!

I'll PM you my email address!

Oh and i'm glad you like the colors! I'm really excited about it because with doing a fall wedding in New England you limited to fall colors, the reds, golds, browns, and i've always wanted bright bold colors for my wedding but they're kind of summer colors. i would definately go with sending out early save the dates with a small explination of this is what we are holding right now but it may change but hopefully not drastically blah blah blah

there was someone on here who did a std that had mickey and minnie and 2009/2010 calendar ( i cant remember what year they were getting married)
and they circled the entire month that they planned on getting married and basically said TBA sometime in XX month
..BUT it came out SOOOOO good..if i find it ill link it

I saw that STD and I was thinking of doing something exactly like that. My boss thought it was a good idea too. Just to give people a heads up and let them know to start getting stuff prepared.:thumbsup2

Although DF's mother is not being supportive at all. :sad2: I was on facebook the other day when FBIL's girlfriend (that i'm also friendly with) came on and asked me if the wedding was still in florida. I told her yes and asked her why she would think it had changed. She told me FMIL told FBIL that she looked at plane tickets and she simply could NOT afford the plane tickets let alone the hotel so that either the wedding would not be in florida or they weren't going. Well i found this all very interesting and got pretty upset and let me explain why....

1.) this women has never left the north east and has never been on a plane so i'd LOVE to know where she got her flight information.

2.) i know this is none of my buisness but FMIL and FFIL just paid off FSIL car payments when she just decided to stop paying them and FFIL's credit was at stake AND they just gave the other FBIL 7G's towards a new car. DF has NEVER and i mean NEVER asked his parents for money yet they can't even come down for his wedding.

oh and

3.) they own their house outright... yup thats right no mortgage:mad:

alright i'm done venting DF and I decided we're just sending out the STD's and letting them handle it from there. Neither one of us can be bothered with their crap right now.

Alright well i'm off to cook dinner.:upsidedow

That being said... congratulations on becoming a Disney bride! It's nice to see that in spite of the drama, you and DF are managing to get into the spirit and get excited about the planning.

Hey Katie! Just checking in again! I LOVE the colors you picked! I am also into bright colors... we are doing fuschia and "kiwi" with accents of orange and turquoise! It's Florida and DISNEY so I feel like it needs to be tropical and FUN! I also think you should send out a "pre-STD". We were getting tons of questions about what our plans were so we just sent out just a simple card that I made with a photopass picture we had of us in front of the castle. Inside I just wrote a little blurb that we were getting married in Disney in early Dec 2010 and that we couldn't confirm our date til 8 months in advance and that there would be more details to follow- I'll post a pic when I get home. Now I'm working on making a little newsletter with lots of Disney info in it to send out, about 1 year out. Then when we confirm the date I'll send out "official" STD's. And you're correct in that Disney does not send out STD's for Escape brides. Sorry to hear that the FIL's are causing issues just keep :cool2: I think just sending the pre-STD will be perfect!

I see all these amazing colors and i want them all... i swear my wedding is going to look like a giant rainbow! :rotfl2: And i totally agree about colors in disney, i mean i was checking out other escape brides to see what they did for colors and i saw Dawn's (dhay) orange and blue color scheme and it was lovely! I would've thought she was married in the summer but i think it was december!! :santa: I just can't wait!!
Anyway I spoke to DF and I was telling him about the pre-STD's and he thinks its a good idea so i'm going to make them either this weekend of next weekend. I'll be sure to post some pictures when i'm done with them.:thumbsup2

HA HA! I know what you mean about the colors... sometimes I just start to pick them all and them I realize my wedding will look like Rainbow Brite vomited all over it:rotfl2:... so I'm trying to stick to just a few... ok four:lmao:

Don't worry we will all attend your "open" wedding! You'll have a whole crowd of teary eyed DISbrides:rotfl:

So here is what we sent out as our pre-STD's. They took all of 2 seconds to make and everyone raved about them!
http://i470.photobucket.com/albums/rr68/ayount2/001.jpg
http://i470.photobucket.com/albums/rr68/ayount2/002.jpg
Now they've changed it to 8 months out but at the time it was 1 year. Sending them out also really seemed to help settle all the family drama for us. No matter how many times we told people the general plan we kept getting the same questions... "are you really getting married at Disney?" "when is it going to be?" "really disney?"....and no matter how many times we said we were having immediate family only our parents kept unofficially inviting people... "oh I was talking to my second cousin four times removed and she is really excited to come to the wedding!" :headache: For some reason after seeing it in writing and the fact that we actually only sent it to our immediate family they finally seemed to accept it and take it seriously! No problems since! I hope it works wonders for you and that your FIL's will just accept it and find a way to deal! Good luck:cheer2:! Can't wait to see how they turn out!

I love those Adelia!:thumbsup2

Do you mind if i use your wording on our STD's? Thankfully DF's family won't be a problem as far as inviting themselves but my family is DEFINATLY a problem. Hopefully this will stop all of that wedding crashing. Its kind of funny, i think, that i'd encourage DISbrides to crash wedding...but family not so much!:lmao:

I agree with you about the wedding crashing... all the disbrides can show up at mine and I wouldn't care! I think it's bc I know the DISbrides just love weddings and w/ family I feel like I would have to try to entertain them and try to include them even though they weren't supposed to be there:lmao:

DF and I were talking about the guest list and its just going to be immediate family, parents/siblings and possibly a few very close friends, oh and my aunt who is like my mom. :thumbsup2 Everyone else can just wait until the at home reception that'll be at our house when we get back. The more i think about it who really wants to go to the ceremony anyway?:confused3 I mean nobody gets a wedding invite and goes, "oh yea a ceremony to go to!" they look forward to the reception party after! So see it as i'm doing a good deed!:snooty:......:rotfl2:

Thanks Adelia! My sister is going to come over next weekend for a sleep over since DF is going to visit his friend for the weekend and i think we're going to make the STD's together that night. :goodvibes I love that shes 17 and i'm almost 23 now but we still have sleep overs!:cutie:

Good evening ladies!

I'm alittle bored and was searching the internet for wedding ideas and I found some stuff i want your opinions on!:goodvibes

First: my colors.

I was searching for someone who had the turquoise (aqua, whatever) and chocolate with a pink accent and this is what i found.

http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii189/krloco821/ChocolatePinkTurquoiseStoryboard.jpg

It is exactly what I was thinking for colors! What do you girls think?

I also found this too and told my sister that i want them at my shower!:woohoo:

http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii189/krloco821/2241043921_8992c6ddb31.jpg

Don't they look yummy?!?!:cloud9:

Then i started looking at the flower options for the escape brides. I know you can change colors with out being charged so i picked my two favorite bouquets, the calla lillies one and the bouquet with the stephanotis accents, and looked around for different ideas. (some od these are from the DIS so thanks girls!:thumbsup2)

http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii189/krloco821/3060684133_76f3d87b7f.jpg

I'm sure i'd have to pay extra for the roses but i liked this calla lilly bouquet just change the roses to hot pink!

http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii189/krloco821/039closeup.jpg

I dont know why I like the stephanotis but i do... and i think this is lovely just with hot pink roses... just like this!

http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii189/krloco821/3046009437_9a8994fc3e.jpg
I saw a few othe bouquets that i really liked but i forgot to save them. If i find them again i'll post them on here later!:thumbsup2

Oh and one more thing.... The girls at work begged me to bring in my wedding gown so i could show them what it looks like on me. So i did. Here is the only decent picture we got... please excuse the hospital bed and sharps container.
http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii189/krloco821/5009baa145a4.jpg

I know its only the back but the pictures of the front didn't do it justice as it isn't fitted to my chest... i look like i have invisible F ****s or something..... theres nothing filling that space but with the boning in the dress it just stays up that way!:lmao: But the back looks very nice so i thought i'd give you girls a preview!

Talk again soon!:goodvibes

So I'm really liking the all pink calla lily bouquet and the all pink roses. Your thoughts??

I was thinking about adding stephanotis to the calla lillies but i can't seem to find any pictures of a bouquet like that... i wonder if its because it doesn't look good and nobody does it.

Good Morning Ladies,

I am feeling very chipper this morning (chipper is the only word i think describes my mood) and to make me feel even chipper-er (yea i'm making up words) i checked my email and got an email from Randy Chapman!:woohoo: I can't believe his prices! They're unbelieveable!:yay: I'm going to show DF when I get home and then once i get the OK from him i think i'm going to book him! He sounded very nice in his email and very accomodating to disney brides. :goodvibes I am totally psyched.

Also on the house part of life out bathroom is almost finished. All we need to do now is put on the new baseboards and accessories (shower curtain, TP holder, towel holder, ect) I've never been so excited about a new toilet in my life. I can't wait to take a shower in my new bathroom. Oh and not having to go down stairs to use the bathroom is going to be amazing! :rotfl2:

Alright ladies... i need some ideas!

I was searching around the boards for some inspirational wedding ideas so that when we have our sister sleep over this weekend i can bring some options to my sisters and see what they think. DF and I had thought of doing a DP the night of our wedding, which is awesome because i'd LOVE to wear my dress in the park and get those fireworks pictures!:cloud9: He is also totally on board with this idea and really wants to do it. But depending on how many people actually go it may not be worth it for us... i mean we can just go and get some mickey ice creams and watch the fireworks for alot cheaper.

I tried thinking of things that would be good alternatives and this is one of my bright ideas  that i want your opinions on.....

I'm really sad that we won't be having a "normal" recpetion because I want to dance with my DF in my wedding gown. Obviously with the escape wedding we can't really do anything like that and with our home reception being in our home that wont really work either. :sad2: soooooo.... What about ADH? We're getting married at SBP and we wanted to do a dinner in the area (either YSH or FF) and where ADH is right there why not do dinner and dancing?? I've read some posts about it and they say that its hardly ever busy in there because most people don't know what it is. So could we just show up (wedding attire and all) and go dancing? :confused3 I've checked out alot of wishes brides who've had their reception there and its so amazing inside, i just love it! Is this possible? Has anyone done this? What do you think of the idea? I just want to dance and partay!party:

I was also thinking about just changing the ceremony time to either the 10:30 or 12:00 time so that after the wedding we could just spend the day in the parks with our guests. IDK... there are just so MANY options!!!! :faint: Any other ideas or thoughts are much appreciated!:worship:

Can't you do your first dance at SBP? I think it was Lynnie who did that. The pictures were gorgeous too! Or you could always dance at your dessert party, although I don't know how easy it would be to dance to illuminations music! :rotfl: I'm sure you'll come up with something great!

Hmmm veils... I like shorter length (partially because I am a klutz and would trip over a long one lol). I think a fingertip veil would look nice with that dress, elbow might take away from the "V" back because it would be around the same length as the "V"... but it may not, I would try a few on with it :) And I love simpler veils (and of course hidden mickeys:thumbsup2).

Your dress is great, and not "too much" for an escape wedding at all! It will look amazing!

Oh and as far as ADH goes, I am not positive but I am not sure you would be allowed in wearing a wedding dress (I think it is the same policy as the parks now) but I would double check... maybe post it on the main board, I bet Carrie would know:goodvibes

thanks sam!:thumbsup2 I think the ADh idea is out anyway.. we'll have a gues thats under 21. :headache: should've done all my research before i got excited. Oh well.

But yea i was thinking finger-tip length. And i'm going to do it myself... i couldn't believe how much they were charging at DB. Insane. My sister works at Jo-anne's and they sell a few veils for lik 10 bucks and the crystals for cheap too. And with her discount i should be able to make it for nothing compared to DB..... and it'll have hidden mickeys!:cloud9:

OMG I know! The elbow and figertip length veils I tried on were all around $180-$200! And they were not anything special, just regualr pretty veils! The ballet teacher in me came out and I was thinking about how much tulle costs when I make tutu's for my dancers and I know it is about $1.50-$2.00 per yard. Those veils had 1 or 2 yards of tulle, so about $3-4 worth of material!!!! What the heck is the rest of the price for then ya know!!

Ughhh sorry I get so annoyed when I see hwo expensive veils are at bridal salons. I at going the DIY route myself for sure (or the ebay route if I get lazy lol).:rotfl2:

Chocolate brown

with a pink (deep pink not baby/pastel pink...yuck) accent color!

Thanks to Mandy I got to see what it will look like and then did some more research and found some really pretty weddings. I figure since its an escape wedding i should have as much fun with color as i can! :thumbsup2 I'm thinking turquoise BM dresses with a chocolate sash around them and pink bouquets! I think i'll pay the money and get pink rose petals to put down the aisle and have guests throw. :goodvibes What do you think??

I also love the mango Idea sam! that would look really pretty:cloud9:

Ok apparently I've been under a rock! I missed that you picked your colors! I really like that idea...I love brown and turquoise!!

I am going to go back and keep reading lol.

Alright i probably should get back to work now. :surfweb:

I was wondering this too! I need to come up with something...maybe later today:cool1:

I just wrote on your PJ meghan!!!:lmao:

Ugh family drama....we are just starting that too. We have to remember these are OUR weddings and everyone else will just get over it.

Hey Mandy!

I did pick my colors... again its still early... who knows if my ideas will change! But if I do decide to change i'll consult with you first!:rotfl2:

I'm glad you like the dress... i'm happy its getting good reviews!:goodvibes

Family drama is family drama though... its was going to happen whether we did a big home wedding or a disney wedding. It seems to be the nature of the wedding game now-a-days. Oh well... :cool2:

As far as ADH I had the crazy thought of just showing up after the wedding in my gown and see if i got kicked out :rolleyes1 But after doing alittle more research i realized the age requirement and my sister won't be able to get in... DF and I are going to sit down together the next few days and make out the STD's I'm going to make it clear that we need some sort of a head count soon so that we can figure out what will be worth our money. I just can't see paying for the DP if we're only going to have 6 guests. :sad2: The decision of what to do after the ceremony is just going to have to wait. But My sister and I will be making the STD's this weekend so i'll make sure to post them when i'm done!

Have you decided what you're going to do yet Mandy? Other than the no dancing I'm all for the escape wedding... but thats just my opinion. Either way go it'll be beautiful!

Just an FYI...I read something somewhere (most likely here...but now I can't remember...) That when you put crystals on your veil, in pics you might have black spots through out the veil where the crystals are...This is b/c what you see in the photo are the flat backs of the crystals. So, depending on how your veil lays you might get these black spots.
I think one way to correct this would be to get bead like crystals and sew them on...that way they are sparkle no matter what angle they are at. :thumbsup2

Good Evening Ladies!

I have a pretty cool story for you today!

This morning was driving to work and noticed a new bridal boutique had opened up in place of an old furniture store that I pass everyday. I need to be in work at 6:30am so there wasn't really anyone on the road so i slowed down to look in the display windows. I was just trying to check for any pretty BM dresses.... when low and behold MY DRESS was in the window!!! I continued into work and told my boss and other co-worker all about it. The both said "we need to call and find out how much they're selling it for!!!"

**remember i bought this gown on ebay (brand new) for only $300 and the tags are STILL on it.**

I said i wasn't 100% sure it was my dress... i mean it was early and i just did a drive by... but they insisted they call. So i gave my friend Laura the name and style number of my gown and she called. This is how the conversation went.....

Laura: Hello, I'm a future blushing bride (shes crazy) and I saw a gown in your store window that looks like a gown i've been eyeing in one of my bridal magazines. Do you think if i give you the maker and style number information you could check and see if its the same dress?

Lady on the other line: Sure!

Laura: Ok well its a blah blah blah insert style number

Lady on the other line: Ok, hold on and let me check for you...... *holding*.... Yup thats the dress!!!

Me: :yay:

Laura: Well could you tell me how much it goes for at your boutique?

Lady on the other line: The gown goes for $1,550.

Laura and I: :scared1:

Lady on the other line: I know it sounds like alot but you need to understand that this is a couture gown and it is made in limited numbers and only top of the line boutique carry their diamond collection gowns.

Laura: Ok, well... *fed the lady some crap lie about making an appointment sometime soon and gets off the phone*

I can't even tell you how amazing it felt to know that even though i bought my wedding gown on Ebay it is definatly NOT a cheap dress! :goodvibes:lovestruc I couldn't believe how much they were selling it for. I called everyone who i thought would care and told them the story! Which is why i felt i needed to come on the DIS and share it with you all!:rotfl2:

Alright well thats all for now! I'm off to go play on the WII fit!:thumbsup2

:banana:That is a great story!!!! I am not surpirsed at all because you can tell just by looking at it that it's no cheapo run of the mill dress... plus I think you remember saying the material was really nice which is something I've really noticed is the difference between gowns in different price ranges. But how great to have a definate confirmation that you got such an awesome deal!!!! Congrats!

So my sister sleep over is tomorrow night and we're both really excited!:cloud9: She is ready to go crazy with these STD's and we also decided we're going to try and make some custom rhinestone bridal shirts and tank tops. :yay: It should be interesting. I was looking around again for some more inspiration and i found some helpful bridal collages.

http://www.bridalcanvas.com/canvas/load2/1235/10ec7435ed3bada2136804e8395814c8/pr/400 (http://www.bridalcanvas.com/canvas/issue/1235)

I love the simple blue and brown cake in this one and I especially love the bouquets!

I like the fans that they have made... I figured I could make something like that and bring them for our guests... you never know.. October could bring some hot weather! And the blue and pink in this collage is exactly the way i envisioned the color scheme. :lovestruc

I can't wait to start getting things in order for the wedding... I dont want to wait about year and 5 months!!!

All done!!!! The ribbon looks funny in the picture because the glue wasn't dry yet. I know they aren't extremely extravagant or anything but i really like how they came out... the textured card stock, colors, and glitter remind me of the BW and gives that disney feel without being too in your face. What do you girls think?

How can you think you look "chunky" in the dress when it's falling off of you???:lmao: Don't worry it just looks a little off because it's not fitted yet- it will look perfect!

Yea i know its only because it isn't fitted... I love it so much i just hope it looks amazing on me once its fitted! I'm sure it will. I did loose 5 lbs since i bought the wii and started eating better:banana::yay: So i hope if i keep the weight loss up i'll look amazing in it when adam sees me! :cloud9:

awww i think the STD came out great! the colors remind me of the swan/dolphin and also of the CBR (although i cant remember which building lol) but they are are very classic looking

I need my girls..... **severe venting alert**

So i was on facebook this morning while at work.... bad employee bad employee... and my sister came on. (not the one who came over last weekend the other one) So i said hi and asked her how she and my dad liked the STD's. Even though my sister lives with my dad i loved my STD's so much that i made one for everyone regardless if they lived in the same house.
She said "yea they're cute" so i told her that in the next few weeks DF and I wanted a head count so we can decide the best things to do after the wedding, hotel accomodations, plane tickets, and to also let randy know since he likes to know how many guests and bridal party info.
She said well Kevin (her BF) couldn't afford to send them both. Ok my sister is 20 and works idk why Kevin need to "send" her with his money but she insisits she has none. She then proceeded to tell me that she doesn't like the fact that she needs to work 7 days a week this summer to afford to go. I find this very funny considering she lives at home with my dad. She said she also doesn't like that she needs her BF to pay for her to go. I nicely explained to her that we figured it out and she'd need to save less than a dollar a day from now until the wedding and she'd have enough money to go. It drives me nuts that she and Kevin go out to eat EVERY night because they dont like to cook and my dad isn't always home to cook for them.
To make matters worse she also said my dad got his STD and said that he doesn't think he can afford to go either!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He JUST got back from a week in ARUBA!!!!!!!!!!!!!:furious: I nicely said well if neither one of you can make it i won't be mad (lies all lies) and that I understood if money was an issue.
What she said next was even worse.... "why dont you just bite the bullet and let mom do whatever she wants and let her pay for it. If you do the disney thing i doubt anyone will go so i think you should just let mom do it all"
Then she just signed off.... No response No nothing.
I can't even explain how upset and hurt I am. :sad1:

To top it all Off i heard back from the original facility we were supposed to get married in and they said they can NOT refund any of the money we put down. We gave them a one thousand dollar deposit and i gave them a year and a half notice that we were canceling and they won't give us anything back. That was one thousand of my money and i know i signed a contract and everything and its my own fault but REALLY??? you can't give me anything back?? They wouldn't even work with me on anything even if i wanted a shower there they won't do anything. What kills me is that they're a very popular place around here and i know they will be able to fill our spot in no time.

I'm sorry.... i'm just so mad/upset/annoyed/hurt....thank for listening girls... :grouphug:

I think your sister is incredibly jealous!!!

Keep your chin up I am sure all of your family will be there on your big day. I mean really how much does a plane ticket to orlando cost? maybe $200?

I would talk to your dad and see what he has to say before you get really upset. I think your sister is just saying that to be mean. and I mean really they have over a year to save!

If they think they are THAT poor why don't they just all pile into a car and drive down. I once read somewhere that its $17 in tolls and I would guess probably 4 or 5 tanks of gas.

Anyhoo I really think she is just pulling your leg. If she is not and she is that mean in general and doesn't want to give up eating out to attend your wedding then I don't think I would want her there. I would do anything for my sisters weddings - whatever they asked.

Sadly this sister is VERY self absorbed. She is also not the birghtest bulb in the box when it comes to money and doesn't understand real life. I just know how she is and she would just love it if i said "ok fine mom can have her way and pay for everything" because she loves drama and uses this family as her own personal tella novella!!!! She also wouldn't have to shell out any cash either. But i'm so sorry my mother is not making my wedding into HER wedding.
As far as my dad we recently started talking again after 4 years of silence and the reason for the 4 years of slience is that, much like my lovely sister he is also very selfish. He had us kids alot later in life and he is pretty much done with parenting just wants to live his life without a care in the world so i don't doubt that he said this. He als mentioned something to my other sister about hoping i didn't decide on disney because of the money too. :sad2:
But i will defiantly be trying to keep my head up.... i'm trying to think exactly what you said... if they're going to act this way then i dont want them there!:snooty:

I just wanted to stop by and give you a hug....:hug::hug::hug:

Ok so come to find out my Darling sister (yea thats some seriouse sarcasim) made the whole thing up.
I called DF and freaked out I told him that I felt like i lost a thousand dollars for nothing... One of the main reasons we decided on a disney wedding was because we didn't want to deal with the drama a big wedding would bring (on top of the fact that i've always wanted to get married in disney anyway:rolleyes1) And after all the canceling and everything else we did people are still being A-holes!!! So i told him i wanted to talk to my father myself and that i wanted him to talk to his family ASAP and get either a yes or no.

SO I called my dad and guess what..... I asked him if he liked the STD's i made and he said "what STD's?" My sister said she gave it to him... well she didnt! I expained the whole story to him and he was pretty mad. He told me that he DID want to go and that he was sorry for whatever my sister said to make me upset. He thinks that she did this because she doens't think my father will allow her boyfriend to go or something to that effect but that he would take care of her when he got home. :thumbsup2
DF pulled up just as i got off the phone with him and he told me that he spoke to his mother. Although she wasn't happy about it and kept saying "you really can't figure out some way to afford a wedding here??" He told he straight out that we already made the decision that we CAN NOT afford a wedding here (love how his family offered to help pay...yea sarcasim again:rolleyes1) and that we did not want a wedding here we'd rather a small wedding in disney. He asked me to get some prices for them, plane tickets, hotels, ect, and he gave her the info over the phone. He promised her we'd all fly together (get over it lady! i'll just slip you some valium) and that she wouldn't have to worry about anything we'd take care of booking everything for her. She said she'd talk to FDFIL and make sure he can get the time off work and let us know by the end of the week.
Oh! and after all my complaining Our recpetion hall emailed us again and told us that as long as they were able to book another wedding or function in our place they'd give us half the deposit money back!!! :woohoo::banana: I just have to keep on them about whether they booked it or not.... i'm thinking an email everyday should do the trick!:rotfl2: So i'm going to take that 500 and put it towards the wedding fund!:thumbsup2
I feel much better now and i'm glad that everyone for the most part is on the same page. :upsidedow Thanks for the support girls!!!:grouphug:

ok thats it, my supposed wedding date is sept. im going to change it and make my disney moon the same time as your wedding and come to your wedding...ill be your new sister :rotfl2:

seriously tholugh, as you have found out she made it all up- she is lookng for attention where she doesnt deserve it. this is your time and your spot light. those that matter will find a way to be there to celebrate with you. they will put aside whatever is bothering them (ie "money" "flying fears" "non disney") and be there for you

and the venue will find someone to fill that day, but definately stay on top of them so you get that money!
