View Full Version : DVC Doorway to Dreams Closing?????

Not sure if this is true or not, but my Mother was at Woodfield Mall yesterday and said the DVC center was closing and they were selling the fixtures. Of course, it could be one of 3 disney stores closing there and she really would not know, but I was just curious if anyone else had heard or seen this as the recent disney news is about DVC layoffs??:confused3

Not true.
Maybe your mom saw something else in the mall that is closing, but it's not Doorway or the Disney Store.

Nope, must be another store going out.. We were over at Doorway to Dreams at the end of February where they had a lavish celebration and Travel Show. Great place to visit for a local Disney fix... :)

Hope not. It is a great way to get a Disney Fix every couple months for us Midwesterners!

Nothing is happening with the DWTD store in Chicago. We just got an email from our guide there. Also, no one was laid off from that store last week.

I wonder about this...how could the chicago location go out of business if they are adding the NY location in August.

Do you think that maybe the doorway to dreams will be a semi permanent thing at various locations across the country? maybe the plan is to open in 1 location for 2-3 years then move it somewhere else for a few years, then somewhere else yet again?

I think it is like any other business, as long as they are making sales they will stay open. As soon as it cost them more money than it is making them they will not hesitate to close.

I bought my BLT add-on there late last year. I love having the Disney fix when I'm in Chicago twice a year to visit family, and it's a great way to show them what the accommodations would be like if they join us. I have a guide in FL, but I bought there because they said my Florida guide would be "protected," and I wanted DWTD to show more sales to stay open!

Somebody, please change the subject line of the thread, so we don't scare any more people.:)
