You'll probably hear from me alot. We just booked a Wonder 4 day for next May. Been lurking around these boards soaking in as much informatin as I can!! I hope you don't mind if I ask questions as I think of them.....

First being...lobster night. I KNOW the Wonder/4 day doesn't have it...but I LOVE lobster...and someday (motionsickness-willing) we'll take the 7day. Is it an all you can eat lobster thing? And is it just tails? Not green slimy guts?

If the answer is YES to the questions I might just faint! (and book a 7 day while we're onboard!)

Thanks in advance.

Lobster tails. But you can ask for seconds.

Is there a lobster dish that you can order on the 4 night wonder at any of the restaurants?

We got two tails each on the Magic Western, and we could certainly have requested more.
But as an even more pleasant surprise, grilled lobster tails were being served for lunch at Castaway Cay the next day. We never get them on the Wonder. I thought it might be a leftover from the inaugural, but the crew members I asked said that it is a regular thing. Hubby's theory is that since the tails are served the night before, they might use any excess on the island the next day. I won't even say how many he ate at lunch because it would only embarrass me.

Not only do you get "All You Can Eat" lobster tail, the servers remove the meat from the shell for you. With a knife and fork Tiago did a beautiful job removing the succulent meat from the shell and placed it on my plate. He then used a ladal and drizzeled drawn butter across it. He then proceeded to do the same with the second one I ordered and offered to go get a third. How much of a good thing can you stand?
Go ahead and change your ressies for a 7 day. The lobster is waiting.

I'm assuming (since they only serve the tails) that this isn't Maine lobster..... can you guys tell me- do the 2 kinds of lobster taste the same?

I have been eating lobster since 1967 and all that I have had taste basically the same. As the saying goes "The worst I have had was excellent".

I was disappointed in Lobster Night as I thought the lobster was tough and dry. Also, I've had both Maine and Pacific lobsters. It all boils to down to the fresher it is the better (or sweeter) it tastes. FYI, if you buy fresh lobster ask for female lobsters -- bigger tail = more meat.

I have never had the "other" lobster (the kind where they only serve you the tail) because I am from Maine..... I just want to say the "green slimy guts" are called Tamale and are considered a delicacy by many people- not this person though.:D

I guess I'd have something different on lobster night as I am used to eating lobster that has been out of the Atlantic for only a few hours..... I'd probably be disappointed.

I don't think it is Maine lobster. We too are spoiled as we lived in Boston for 2 years where lobster was cheaper than hamburger! :)
I personally do not like "Florida" lobster but my DH grew up in FL and loves it! All a matter of taste! :)

I lived in Maine for 6 years, and while I'm not native (I don't eat the tamale), I did eat my share of lobster. I didn't notice much difference between the lobster on the ship and others I've eaten. There's no way it can be as fresh as at a lobster shack with a tank full of live lobsters that were just caught that morning, but it was still very good.
