Hi guys! This is my first PTR ever so please, be patient with me!
A little background info on the cast of characters:
Me - Jen, 26, born & raised in NJ. I've been a travel consultant for almost a year (May 5will be 1 year!) and a retired waitress. :) I love all things Disney. This will be my fourth full trip to the World since 2006. I took a trip to MK as a shore excursion on a 2005 NCL cruise so since then, I've been hooked. Previously, I hadn't been there since I was about 7 or 8 years old, when my parents took me. Back then, MGM was practically brand new...and still called MGM!
DBf - Joe, 27, also from NJ. He's a waiter for Chili's right now but more importantly an aspiring movie director. He just wrapped up his first feature length film and is in the process of editing it! I made a cameo  We've been together for almost 4 years (April 24th!) and he probably loves Disney more than I do. He's taken trips with his family every summer since he was a kid and he's always been my companion for Disney World. I have no idea what number trip this will be for him!
Here's a picture of us:
http://i412.photobucket.com/albums/pp208/jenny105/medievaltimes.jpg
The plan for this trip is:
9/20-9/24 staying at POR
9/24-9/27 set sail on the Wonder!
9/27-9/29 two extra nights of magic at ASMo
These are all firsts for us! We've never stayed at POR (I've never stayed at a Mod!) or ASMo. We're POP people. Neither one of us have ever sailed with DCL. Other cruise lines yes, but not Disney! We're doing it in style this time! :)
Expect more updates as the time gets closer. Less than 6 months to go!!

That's cool that Joe wants to be a movie director. Tell him I said congrats on making is first feature-length film. That's a great accomplishment. Please keep us updated about that.

Is it available for Land & Sea packages? I heard that it isn't.

So I know that my dates fall within the free dining promotion at WDW. But I've heard that if you have a Land & Sea package, you are not eligible to get it. I would love to add it on but I don't think that I can since it's not a new booking or a MYW package. Has anyone ever gotten free dining via Land & Sea?

Well, unfortunately I can't get the free dining since I am booked on a Land & Sea package. Bummer; but that won't stop me from eating like a monster at WDW! :rotfl:
Thanks to Lainey, I know that I have 83 days remaining until I can book my ADRs! But since I plan and think about all things Disney, I have a vague idea of where I want to go. Here are the places we are interested in:
Primetime Cafe - we've been here before, we love it!
San Angel Inn - love the atmosphere and food!
Le Cellier - this will be a first; I've heard nothing but good things.
Mama Melrose - another first but the menu looks yummy!
Beaches & Cream - anything 50's inspired :thumbsup2
Tusker House - character breakfast with Donald, he's our favorite
Kona Cafe - 2 words: Tonga Toast. Joe loves bananas...I'm leaning toward the pineapple pancakes.
Ohana's - believe it or not, another first!
Hoop De Doo - we're torn between this and Ohana's. I actually did a poll on this and it was split right down the middle. :confused3
I think I'm leaning more toward Ohana's because we'll be having a late dinner and it overlooks MK. Joe is a big Wishes fan. Does anyone know if they pipe in the music for it in the restaurant?
One of the days, we'll be going to Universal. I know :scared1: But Margaritaville is a must!
We'll also be there for the start of the Food & Wine Festival which I'm super excited about!! That's yet another first. Is my thread title starting to make a little more sense? ;)

Jenny!! You cannot not eat the Tonga Toast!! :scared1: If you insist on getting pineapple pancakes you must try the Tonga Toast... Seriously. :lmao:

From what I remember, they don't.

I've heard they at least dim the lights and lower the music.

I don't like bananas at all so the Tonga Toast would be wasted on me. But I'll try Joe's, I promise! His eye went wandering to the steak & eggs platter but I told him I picked that place because I thought he would like the Tonga Toast so I'll be mad if he doesn't get it! :rotfl:

I can't wait to try everything at F & W. I read last year that they had a champagne stand. I hope they have that again!! :thumbsup2

So, we were dead set on driving to Florida this trip. We did it in November and had a lot of fun, stopped in Savannah on the way down; were planning on doing the same thing this time. Having the car for us would be a plus too, especially since we're considering going to Universal for a day. And if gas prices don't escalate like they did last summer, it's actually the least expensive option.
On the other hand, my brother's 40th birthday is 9/19, the day before we're supposed to be at WDW. If we drove, we'd have to leave this day, and there is talk about a surprise party for him. Considering that is a Saturday, there's a very good chance it would be that night and I'd have to miss it. I don't think it'd be a big deal to him if I did but my mom would give me hell, I'm sure.
So I looked into airfare. I found a flight from Atlantic City on Spirit airlines $174 roundtrip. Not bad at all! But then I got to thinking about baggage fees, adding on the cruise transfers, and all the little things that make flying add up. Plus the inconvinience of not having a car. I need to add up the differences and see which is the better option. Kind of hard to do considering I'm not sure what's going to happen to gas prices!

Another Jersey girl! :)
I'm actually in Monmouth county, work in Union county. Atlantic City is much cheaper to fly out of than Newark. Plus, it'd be easy to get a ride down because my mom loves AC! She'll use any excuse to make a trip there.
Where are you staying when you go? This will be my first Disney cruise! I'll be sure to tell you all about it!

We've never stayed at POR before, we're so excited!! It looks beautiful. Have you ever stayed there before?
Thanks! We'll figure it out sooner or later.
Hey Jenny!
Hmm.. I understand your transportation dilemma. BUT, it seems like driving would be the most cost efficent. Your plane tickets sound like a good deal but again, there are additional costs (baggage, cruise) and I hate having to rely on other transportation. Typically we always ride the busses in WDW but it's nice to know your car is there if you want it.
I say drive and tell your mom that you are so sorry but you just can't make it but are certainly looking forward to celebrating with him (and them!) when you get home!! :)

It's definitely more cost efficient. And I like knowing that if the buses are taking too long, I can just hop in my car and go. Plus, I want to get to the port on the earlier side and I can only do that if I have my car. The only reason I keep checking airfare is because of my brother. He actually works practically across the highway from me so I can always take him out to lunch or something before the trip!

That's a great lineup! :thumbsup2 Personally, I would go to Ohana's instead of the Hoop De Doo Revue. That'd be awesome if you could watch Wishes during dinner. You may need to request a table near the window or something though.
If you like peanut butter and chocolate, you should definitely try the No Way Jose sundae at Beaches and Cream. Here's a picture of it.

I always prefer to fly and rent a car whenever I go anywhere. That way you could be there for your brother's birthday. Even though it's cheaper and somewhat convenient, driving just takes up too much time. If going by plane will be too much of a hassle (and too expensive), then you should just drive over. If you decide to drive over, maybe you could take your brother out to dinner or something on the weekend before his birthday.

We'll figure it out, I'm sure. It's still months away and I'm not even sure if they're going to really have a party for my brother. His girlfriend had the idea for it and she can be kind of flaky. It's not so much my brother I'm worried about, it's my mom who's going to get on my case if I miss it!
I never mind driving, we always have fun when we do. The more I think about it, flying just keeps adding up!

so I just got off the phone with DCL. I cancelled my land portion and just went with the 3 night cruise so I can rebook my land portion separately and get free dining! It's a $104 difference. Not bad at all considering I won't really have to pay for any food for a week! Plus, I get the Magic Your Way package things included now! That arcade voucher for 30 minutes is looking pretty good!
I have never done the dining plan before but I know what it consists of. My only question is since gratuity is no longer included, how do the servers handle that? Do you just leave them a tip in cash or do they charge it back to your room?
DCL said it will take about 3 weeks to credit the money back to my account so I'm going to rebook when I get that back. I'm most likely going to book POR again considering that's where we were staying orginially but does anyone prefer a different mod over that one?
I'm so excited! :hyper:

Just a warning about waiting... Disney only reserves a certain number of rooms available for free dining. When those rooms are gone, you can't get free dining anymore even if there's 'normal' rooms available at the resort. At least that's what I had heard last year?
As for tip, you can either charge it to the room, leave cash, or charge it to a credit card.

I'm aware of that but thank you for letting me know. I already put a hold for a reservation at POR so I'll probably pay the deposit within the week and when I get the credit, put it toward the rest of what is owed.
Thank you!

Well, I know how the dining plan itself works. It's funny because I've never gotten it but I've sold it and explained enough times to clients to know a lot about it! They don't call it a Key to the World for nothin; you really can do everything with it!

So since I saved a bunch of money on food thanks to the free dining promo, I decided I wanted to upgrade where we were going to stay for our 2 nights after the cruise. Originally, we were going to be staying at ASMo in a preferred room. I have just gotten off the phone with Disney and we are now staying at....
Wilderness Lodge! I'm super excited! I've never stayed at a deluxe, ever, so this will be yet another first for me! Joe has stayed at some of the deluxe hotels but I don't think he's ever stayed at WL.
I was torn between there and AKL but after looking at pictures and reading reviews, decided WL had a slight edge. Especially because they have a water launch to MK and I absolutely love taking that instead of the buses. Plus, Joe has stayed at AKL before so that was primarily the tie-breaker.
The best part of this all is, I'm not going to tell him! I'm going to let him think we're still staying at ASMo. I wonder if he'll pick up on the fact that we're not going the right way as we're heading back from the cruise ship. He knows the All Stars are near AK so when he doesn't see us driving in that direction and that I'm following signs for MK instead....that will be the tip off. But there's so many resorts in that area, he won't know which one til we pull up to the sign! :)
Now the trick is to keep this a secret from him! :ssst:

It's going to be tough not to tell him! I tell him everything. It kept running through my head yesterday and I wanted to be like 'I have a surprise for you!' but I'm going to keep him completely in the dark. I know he's looking forward to staying at ASMo since he loves everything having to do with movies but I doubt he'll be disappointed! I had to make sure he had never stayed there so I passed it off like I was asking him about it for a client. I was like "Have you ever stayed at WL? I have clients interested in going there and don't know much about it." When of course, wdwinfo has all the information I could ever need.
He's been working so hard editing the movie he filmed last summer that I figured he deserved a little extra pampering. I can't wait to see the look on his face. :)
I'm so excited. The hotel looks absolutely gorgeous! Have you ever eaten at Whispering Canyon Cafe? It looks fun!

I told Joe about the skillets and his eyes lit up. Especially when I mentioned they were all you can eat. Since we're planning on doing Universal one day while we're there, we may do Whispering Canyon for dinner that night or breakfast the next morning.

Thanks! I love POP! I've stayed there three times! Twice in the 50s and once in the 80s. It's really cool to walk around and see all the huge icons for all the different decades. The lobby is really nice too because it has memorabilia throughout the years. It'll bring you back to your childhood  I'm sure you'll love it. Say hi to Mr & Mrs Potato Head for me!

So, since I work in a TA, Marriott pretty much hooks us up with great deals on their hotels. Today I booked the hotels I need for the drive to and from Florida. I've nixed flying. It was just adding up to way too much money between checking bags, transfers, cabs, etc. I'd rather drive.
Anyway, I booked a Courtyard in GA which is about a 12 1/2 ride from here and only 3 1/2 hours from Disney. We stopped in Savannah last year on the ride down but I couldn't get anything there with my Marriott rate so I moved our destination a little further south. It's just a place to sleep, ya know? The only bummer is that there is no free breakfast at Courtyards but it was the only one in the Marriott chain I could get for that area!
On the way back I booked a Fairfield Inn in VA. It's just over the SC/VA border and about 10 hours from Disney, 6 hours from home. I don't know much about the area, it seems like a small southern town, but again it's a place to sleep and free breakfast! Besides, you really can't go wrong with Marriotts.
As for surprising Joe with the WL upgrade, I know that I will have to give the security kiosk a reason why I'm there. I plan on telling security we're there to check it out for a future visit. Now the question is, what to tell Joe when we're headed over to the Wilderness Lodge? I can't use the excuse that I have an ADR because we will be eating breakfast on the ship. Joe will be like 'Why are we eating breakfast twice?' In a perfect world, he'll have dozed off and I won't have to say anything but who knows? I was thinking of blindfolding him but god only knows what security would think if they saw that. Any ideas?
Hmm.. that is a dilemma.. what about just telling him the same thing you tell the security guard? The whole trip be like "OMG, wouldn't it be fun if next time we stayed at the WL! If we have time one day, we should go look at it.."...
Or, we could just give him a sleeping pill  . I'm not too sure how the guard would react to a blindfolded man in the front of the car, UNLESS, before you left your first resort, you wrote a little note saying "This is a surprise resort upgrade and I don't want my DBF to know.." and then hand that to him. When he asks you why you are there (after he's read the note) say you're there just to look around!!
That might be a little complicated but we always have the sleeping pill!! :)
I'm glad you chose to drive, I think it's more fun. It's so nice Mariott hooks you up!

I like the idea of the note and I'm sure they would be more than happy to play along. I just don't know what to tell Joe when we're headed over there! I was thinking of telling him I wanted to rent out one of the Sea Raycers since we'll have a voucher for it. I keep saying I want to get one from an MK resort so we can drive it out in front. Or maybe that I want to check out WCC before I make an ADR. Or maybe I won't say anything at all and see if he realizes I'm not headed in the direction of ASMo at all and not answer him when he asks 'Where are we going?'
Marriott is awesome to us! We can get rates for as low as $44/nt!! For that, I always try to give them business whenever I can.

I haven't updated in awhile and this isn't really trip related but I figured I'd put it in here anyway! I apologize for the lack of pictures, I didn't get a chance to upload any yet.
Joe and I celebrated our 4 year anniversary this past weekend with a trip to Williamsburg, VA. It was a first for both of us. We had a blast and absolutely loved the area; it's beautiful! We were lucky to have gorgeous, warm (HOT ) weather.
We left on Friday morning at around 10 am. I decided to take the "scenic" route via the Cheasapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel because I've had many clients go that way, so I wanted to see what it was all about. Two words: never. again. A 5-6 hour drive became a 8-9 hour trip. I didn't realize US-13 had stoplights :confused3 and there were two accidents on the way down. One on 13, which had us detour through country farm land and took us out of the way, and the other on I-64 in the tunnel which shut the whole road down for about an hour. Although the bridge-tunnel was beautiful, it wasn't worth that ride.
So we got to the Couryard Williamsburg at 6:30-7. The hotel was really nice and only about a mile away from Busch Gardens. I took a power nap while Joe showered and then it was my turn and we went to Kyoto, a japanese steakhouse in town. It was awesome! I think I would have chopped my finger off if I was trying to do all of the things our hibachi chef was doing. The food was great and we had a really fun time. I think Joe got a little buzzed because he was drinking sake like it was water! We got back to the hotel and watched a little tv and fell asleep.
On Saturday we woke up around 8 am and got ready to go to Busch Gardens. We were there by 9 (you could see the park from our hotel) and had breakfast at Squire's Grille. They serve the biggest breakfast sandwiches I have ever seen. :scared1: I was full for the rest of the day! We worked our way counter clockwise around the park, starting in Ireland. Our first ride was Corkscrew Hill which is a 4D simulator ride. That was rough on my back but a lot of fun. We were slowly working our way toward Griffon, this mammoth bad boy of a rollercoaster located in the France area. Before that, we went on Le Scott log flume and then decided to tackle this coaster. Oh. My. Lord. 90 degree vertical drop and they stop your cart to let you dangle and stare down the hill before you drop. You can't even see the track, that's how steep it is! I took a video of it once we got off which I will try to post in the upcoming week.
I have never been so terrified on a ride in all my life. I absolutely loved it though. We worked our way around the rest of the park and did 4 out of the 5 coasters. Loch Ness Monster, which I was really looking forward to riding because it's been there forever, was shut down! :sad2: It started getting really crowded and since we had done most of the attractions, we left around 3.
Here's some pictures from BG:

We hung out around the pool til about 4 and then got ready to go into Colonial Williamsburg. We had a ghost tour that night, after all! We got dinner at this place called Retro's, which was a counter service, 50s inspired burger joint. Yum! :thumbsup2 We walked around Merchant's Square for a little while and then met up with our guide around 7:45. The tour was about 90 minutes and took us all through town, on a walking tour. Our guide, Don, told us the folklore and of the spirits that linger in the houses and buildings of the William & Mary campus and he also gave us a little bit of history of the town itself. I took a picture of one of the houses and it looks like the outline of a person is looking out, watching. Creepy! :scared: If anyone is down that way, I definitely recommend it. It was really interesting.

On Sunday, unfortunately we had to leave. :guilty: We took I-95 back this time and it didn't take us nearly as long to get home! Next time we're down that way, we'll definitely take a long weekend so we can explore more of the town and Jamestown and Yorktown as well.
All in all, it was an amazing time! :)

I went on a little shopping trip last night to Old Navy and Kohl's. Found a couple of cute things. This was definitely a Disney trip inspired shopping trip. I'd rather pick up a few things here and there then do an all out spending spree before I go because I will end up getting way too much stuff!! Here's what I got:
These shorts

Both from Old Navy.
And then at Kohl's, I picked up:

Also got a grey t-shirt with a drawing of Mickey mouse and the pants & shoes are florescent red & yellow. I just had to get Disney shirts! :) They were only $6 each!

I wouldn't even call it a scenic route. It was a bunch of farm land minus the bay! :rotfl:

I thought I'd post a loose itinerary I've come up with for our trip. I won't know for definite what parks we're going to hit on what days until the official hours are announced.
Sunday 9/20 - DHS - hoping to get there around 1 since we'll be leaving the hotel in GA around 9.
MK - EMH. This seems to be the day they've been having it at night.
Monday 9/21 - Epcot Day!
Tuesday 9/22 - DHS again for the morning to hit anything we've missed
And then off to MK for MNSSHP
Wednesday 9/23 - AK Day!
Since this is the night before the cruise, we'll probably relax by the pool after and then have a mini-DIS meet at Jellyroll's. It'll be an early night.
Thursday 9/24 - We board the ship! The beautiful Disney Wonder. We'll be cruising until the morning of 9/27.
Sunday 9/27 - Epcot for the F&W Fesitval!
Monday 9/28 - Orginally, this was going to be a Universal day. But honestly, I don't really feel like going there. We went there for a week last November and I want to have an all Disney trip this time. Since we've never stayed at Wilderness Lodge, I really just want to hang by the pool and maybe rent a Sea Raycer. And possibly in the morning, go to Typhoon Lagoon. If Joe really wants to go to Universal, we'll do it, but as of right now :confused3
Tuesday 9/29 - MK in the morning before we head home. This is a tradition.
The MNSSHP tickets go on sale Friday so I'm planning on buying those right away. And only one more month to go until the September hours are announced! It's getting closer!!!

This skirt but in light blue denim rather than white.
I also got a pair of distressed dark blue denim bermudas that I can't seem to find on the site.
I saved a boatload of money with my sister's discount and then also an extra 15% because my sister had me apply for the Ann Taylor credit card. I need a credit card like I need another hole in the head but the limit is low and it'll be good to have. I do love their clothes.
In other Disney news, I want to buy MNSSHP tickets but they're not online yet. What's up with that? :confused3

Awesome pre-trippie so far! I just got caught up... sounds like you are going to have an amazing trip! You and Joe are so cute and I didn't realize that he is an aspiring director... very cool! Love what you bought on your shopping trip, I am heading to the website to look at that dress for myself, it is adorable!!!
What time do you plan to make your Ohana reservation? You could always eat at Ohana (which is one of my faves, btw!) and then head out to the beach with a pineapple drink and watch the fireworks there. They can be seen really well from the beach and the music is piped in out there.

I think they are called a Lapu Lapu, but I can never remember for sure. They are yummy! After the first if you want another, you can order just the drink to put in your pineapple (a little cheaper this way). It took a long time to get our table at Ohana, but once we sat down I think it only took about an hour or so to eat. They bring the food out right away.
I thought we would skip Ohana on the next trip but now that I am thinking about it we have to have a reservation here!!!

i love all those flip flops!!
I love the colors! :)
I think they are called a Lapu Lapu, but I can never remember for sure. They are yummy! After the first if you want another, you can order just the drink to put in your pineapple (a little cheaper this way). I just looked it up to see if it mentioned the Lapu Lapu; it doesn't on the menu page but I'll take your word for it. The DIS does not give it a favorable review. :scared: That won't stop me from trying it though!

I'm hoping for near 90 during the day and 70s at night. I'll take all the hot weather I can get because the last time I was down in Orlando, there was a cold front. 50 degree weather all week, 60 if I was lucky!
And I love, love, love that dress!!!! :)

I just got our MNSSHP tickets for 9/22! :cheer2::banana::woohoo::yay: I'm so excited! I've heard this party is an awesome time! I was thinking about dressing up but I don't think I have the time or patience to make a costume. I definitely want some Halloween themed Mickey ears though!
On a completely different topic, has anyone ever eaten at Chefs de France? I'm not very big on French food (they eat snails for goodness sake!) but I'm a big fan of Ratatouille and really would like to see Remy. Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks!
EDIT: I just saw that Remy will only be there until September 5. I'm gonna just miss him! :(

Have you been to MVMCP or P&PP? I had a blast at both of those but I hear MNSSHP is the best of all 3. I'm planning on doing something like that too: making Halloween shirts or wearing Halloween colors. Plus my ears! :)

I'm so excited you're going to MNSSHP!! We went 2 years ago and LOVED it. We made shirts because we didn't want to wear full blown costumes thinking that..
1. We'd be really hot (we would've been)
and
2. That we'd be the only adults dressed up (uhh, we definitely weren't!).
We made shirts that said Aurora (pink) and Phillip (blue) on them. And I wore a tiara. princess: We got so many compliments from the CMs saying that we had the right idea since it was so hot out. :thumbsup2 But, Jenny, you really should find a way to dress up. We will brainstorm shirt ideas!
I ate Chefs de France a while ago but remember enough to know that I probably wouldn't eat there again. It's not that it wasn't good, it just wasn't for me. I am not a fan of French food at all (except crepes) and would've preferred to go to another place for the amount of $$ we spent. BUT, I would go just to see Remy but since he won't be there I think you're better off going somewhere you liked the food.
Great update!! I wish the trip was like, tomorrow! :rotfl:

That's a cute idea for shirts!! Do you have pictures? Joe loves Wall-E so I was thinking of making shirts that say Wall-E and Eve. You can help me design them. ;)
Remy will be gone Sept 5 so it's not even worth going to Chefs de France if he's not there anymore. I don't think it would be my kind of place either. I looked at the menu and was just thinking 'what is this stuff?' :scared:

No, I haven't been to either of those. But the Halloween party is SO CUTE! :thumbsup2 The "Boo To You" parade is awesome. And it's a lot of fun just walking around. The kids trick-or-treated and got TONS of characters' autographs. Be sure to stick around...later on the villians come out for pictures, etc. It was one of my favorite parts!

We went to MNSSHP last year and it was awesome! You will have a great time! The kids dressed up for the evening and my husband and I each bought POTC tshirts, he bought a Jack Sparrow hat with dreads and I bought the pirate Minnie ears. It was silly but sooooo fun! The headless hoseman is very cool, but don't blink, you will miss him! I love Hallo Wishes. I thought it was amazing! We had so much candy last year that we left most of it behind! If we would have had room to bring it home I would not have had to buy candy for trick or treaters!
There are a couple of DISigners on the Creative DISigns board that have designs for MNSSHP if you want to check those out for tshirts. Another easy costume that we thought about was Mouseketeers. White shirts with names, black shorts and mouse ears.

Joe liked the Wall-E and Eve idea so we'll probably stick with that. He went shopping for summer clothes yesterday (for the first time in YEARS) and I tried to convince him to by a t-shirt with Grumpy on it and it read 'I'm Bringing Grumpy Back' but...no sale. Ah well.
Thanks!

Ok people, help me out with this! I've already changed from ASMo to WL and am thinking of going with AKL now. Any feedback would be great!
On the one hand, WL has the prime location. We always spend our last morning at MK, we're planning on going to Hoop Dee Doo (I'm not sure when yet), probably going to have breakfast our last day at WCC, and I like that they have a ferry. The hotel itself and the grounds are gorgeous but I'm not wild about the room decor. Seems a little rustic and dark. I think I read that the rooms are bigger than AKL though. Another positive is that Joe has never stayed here.
On the other hand, AKV is a little out of the way and has bussing to pretty much everything. No ferry. But it's a little less expensive and we love animals so it'd be really cool to be able to see the animals from our room. I keep thinking about having breakfast out on our balcony. :) And I love the way the rooms look. So bright and colorful! Joe has stayed here with his family before but I think it was only for one night because his dad wanted to check it out.
Opinions?

You had to pick two of my favorite resorts, didn't you? :rotfl:
Pros and cons for each:
WL - what is great is everything is self-contained, never have to go outside for anything. This works out especially well if weather is bad. The location is wonderful, but when it comes to the ferries, remember you have to share with FW, and it can take some time to get to MK because of this. We left WL one time for MVMCP and it took us about 35-45 minutes to get there! Also, you do share a bus with another resort, be it FW or GF. What is good about WL is if you are a runner or biker, there's a great path with rentals that runs between FW and WL.
AKL - yes, it is "out there," but here's something to think about ... one bus stop, no sharing with resorts. The time evens out in my opinion. I love the decor of the place too and when we stayed there in December, I found the staff was beyond friendly and helpful. The gift shop is great and you can't beat Boma. Only down side I see is the CS being outside, which stinks when it is cold out (rain not a problem since the walkway is covered). But the CS sells Zebra Domes and hummus from Boma. mmmm.
If given the choice, I go with AKL. I just love it!

Okay, if AKL is cheaper and you'd prefer a bigger, brighter room AND Joe's never been there, I think you should definitely do AKL. Yes, it's more out of the way but it's so much fun to try something new. Plus, the animals are great!
I vote AKL.

Thanks Angey! I appreciate the input, especially on the bussing/ferry times with WL. It will pretty much even out. Plus, if I do decide to make reservations for Hoop Dee Doo and WCC and we stay at AKL, I have my car so it'll get me there just as quick as transportation from WL. I'm really leaning toward AKL. As for the CS there, I doubt it will be cold out so no problem there. What is a zebra dome? :rotfl:

Joe's been to AKL before but only for a night. He barely remembers it because according to him he took a ferry from there to AK. :rotfl::confused3 I keep picturing myself out on the balcony in the morning, with breakfast, looking at the animals. :)

I think we're going to just miss you at AKL though! Aren't you guys checking out on the 26th? We wouldn't be checking in until after the cruise, on the 27th. Stay an extra night!
SAD!! Yes...we're checking out the 26th. :sad2: I wish we could stay an extra night, but Michael has to be back home for church on Sunday. He only gets to miss 2 a year. But I am glad that you made the switch!!! :thumbsup2 I'm so excited to stay there. Oh--and you should change your ticker now! ;)

It's too bad we're not going to be there at the same time. We're missing each other by a day! Boo! We're still staying at POR during the first half of our trip (the land & sea part) but I could add an extra ticker to countdown to staying in the villas...if it will fit. :rotfl: I was a little sad changing from WL for the last two nights but we're going to do WCC so we'll still get to see it. I know. It would have been so much fun to be there at the same time. Oh, yeah. I forgot that you'll be there earlier. Who knows...we might still run into each other in the parks! Yes, the "land" portion is 9/20-9/24 so we will be there the same time. If I see you in one of the parks, I'll be sure to say hello. :) Or you'll hear me saying 'I think that's the girl from the DIS boards.' :rotfl: I have a tentative schedule of what parks we're going to be in on what day but I won't know for sure until the hours are released.

Hi! Thanks for reading. :) Kohl's is definitely the place to go! :rotfl: I always find Disney shirts there. They have two more Mickey and Tink shirts that I want! And they're always on sale super cheap!
I switched to AKL. I love animals and that seemed like the logical choice. Plus it was saving me a little bit of money. :thumbsup2 I would LOVE to stay near the Boardwalk area....Yacht & Beach Club :faint: One day I will...it was just too out of my price range for this trip!

Taking a page out of Stacy's (FutureDis) book, I just ordered this from Vera Bradley. http://www.verabradley.com/Site/Store/ProductDetail.aspx?Sku=246& I have a million lanyards from AAA so I'm probably going to attach it to one and put our room keys and whatever cash we need in it. :thumbsup2 I got it in a retired color (peacock) and the shipping was more than the case itself!

Ok, since I have something to work with I figured I'd post! It's been awhile. Even though the park hours aren't "official" yet, they're the best I got. So here goes with the planning!
9/20 - We'll be staying in Brunswick, GA overnight to break up the drive. We'll probably leave there around 9 and try to get into WDW between 1 and 2. Maybe stopping for lunch along the way. After we check in at POR, off to DHS we go!
Dinner at Sci Fi (Joe really wants to go) or 50s PT. Whichever I can get.
EMH at MK if we're not too worn out.
9/21 - AK Day! Breakfast at Tusker House. Donald, here we come!
Lunch will probably be counter service. Can anyone recommend a good CS spot in AK?
Dinner at Ohana's
Over to MK for Wishes
9/22 - DHS in the morning to hit anything we didn't do the first day. I want to get over to MK afterward so I can see the new parade and then it's MNSSHP!
Lunch and dinner will most likely both be CS. We always do Pecos Bill's at MK. Any recommendations for DHS?
9/23 - EPCOT! CS lunch at Sunshine Seasons because I've heard so many good things about it.
Dinner at Le Cellier. Keep your fingers crossed for this one.
9/24 - Breakfast at Captain Cooke's. Joe has no choice but to order Tonga Toast. :rotfl: Then we head on over to the Disney Wonder!
9/24-9/27 Smooth sailing! :cool2:
9/27 - Check in AKV!!!!
Blizzard Beach and/or Typhoon Lagoon. Probably mini-golfing too! This is our relaxing/recreational day.
Dinner at Hoop Dee Doo Review. Question, will they let me park at WL for this and take the ferry over to FW? I want to take pictures of WL since I was looking into staying there too.
9/28 - EPCOT for F&WF. Lunch at San Angel Inn. Joe will never forgive me if we skip that one.
9/29 - MK in the morning for a couple hours. It's tradition to go there on the last day. And then we leave. :guilty:
I'd appreciate any suggestions and/or feedback!

AK has really great CS restaurants. I went to Flame Tree BBQ last time, and it was yummy--but a little on the heavy side in my opinion. This time, we're either going to Pizzafari (I hear the sandwiches are awesome) or we'll try the picnic. Good luck getting everything you want!! :woohoo:

Well, today was my 90 day mark for ADRs. I have to say, I am a little disappointed in what I got, but what can you do about it? I couldn't get Le Cellier AT ALL. For any day of my stay. Lunch or dinner. Here is what I got:
9/20 - Sci Fi @ 5:40 pm
9/21 - Donald's Safari Breakfast @ Tusker House 8:10 am
Ohana 9:30 pm
9/23 - Coral Reef @ 2:25 pm
I don't know if I want to keep that Ohana reservation. I've never been there so I really want to go but I'm bummed I couldn't get anything earlier. I wanted to watch Wishes afterward so I was aiming for around a 7pm time and that was the only thing I could get. I picked Coral Reef because I couldn't get a res at Le Cellier.
I have a couple more to make but since the other reservation is after my cruise, I have to wait until next Monday. Those should be fairly easy: Hoop Dee Doo and San Angel Inn.
2 out of 4 isn't bad right?

The Tusker House res I don't mind. I wanted it on the early side. I was thinking of switching from Coral Reef to Yachtsman Steakhouse. Has anyone ever eaten there? I'll keep checking back just incase something else opens up.

The same thing happened with us with 'Ohana and Le Cellier!!! We are going to Coral Reef instead of Le Cellier, and Michael actually sounds more excited about it. I just couldn't do the 9:30 'Ohana ressie. It was open for us too... We're really early dinner people. We'd be sick if we had to wait that long. I'm a little skeptical of the online ressie thing. I successfully made two the other day (for dates we don't have) and it confirmed it, but didn't ask for my ressie # or name or anything! So I hope they aren't double booking a lot of people and screwing up our dining system while we're there :sad2:

We're going to Coral Reef instead too! I got a late lunch reservation there instead of dinner. I'm going to cancel the Ohana reservation. I got an ADR at WCC instead at 7:30. I really wanted to do Ohana but it's just too late for dinner. I wonder why they booked so fast!
You don't need a confirmation number to make an ADR. That's only used for the 90+10. It's weird that they didn't ask for your name though. I really wish they would have rolled this out AFTER we made our reservations. It was better when only the TAs could use it!!

Just found your PTR through Lynn's TR. Lovin' it so far.
Don't you love upgrading from a value to a deluxe? We did that for our trip in August and I can't wait!! We were debating on AKL or VWL, but I decided to do VWL b/c I love the whole National Park theming. Can't wait to hear what you think of AKL.
That Vera Bradley wallet/ID holder is really cute. I just the Little Betsy tote in Peacock and I love it! Unfortunately, now I'm hooked on VB stuff which is something I swore I'd never do -- d'oh!
Your NKOTB pictures were really good, especially the one of Joey. Ah, memories...:lovestruc

Hi! I've seen you around Lynn's TR. :)
We were debating on WL and AKL too! Orginally, I had WL booked but found I could get a studio villa in Jambo House for less so I jumped on that. I definitely want to stay in WL next year (or whenever we go again!) even if it's only for a night. It's beautiful!
Ever since I got that wallet, I've noticed VB EVERYWHERE! So many people have those bags, it's unreal.
I am a Joey girl, always. I've loved him since I was 6 years old lol. Never changed!

Hi Again!
Love your PTR!
I definitely need a pre-Disney shopping trip. You have inspired me! Kohl's here I come! :thumbsup2
What's your favorite thing to get at Pecos Bill's? We have never been there, we usually do Cosmic Ray's, but I would love to try it this trip.

Hi! Thanks!
Kohl's has a whole bunch of Disney shirts. And they are almost always on sale! I got those two I posted in my PTR and when I went back to weeks later, they had 3 more I wanted!
I usually get a burger or the taco salad at Pecos Bill's. They have a toppings bar so they give you everything plain and you can put what you want on it. My DBf usually gets the chicken wrap and it's the size of my arm!! It's also a good place to catch the parades from Frontierland. There is an outdoor seating area in the back. I've never been to Cosmic Ray's so we may stop there this trip! :)

Isn't it crazy how many VB bags there are out there? It's like they are invading the world, one bag at a time. I really thought they were unfortunate looking the first time I saw one, but now...I'm totally hooked. :thumbsup2
Are you renting DVC points by chance? That's what we decided to do. I couldn't believe how much $$$ we saved -- like $1300 or something crazy like that. So cool!!
Ooh, Kohl's sells Disney shirts? How have I missed them?? I'll have to check that out this weekend.
I can't believe you've never been to Cosmic Ray's -- it's a must for us! It sort of became a tradition for lunch on the first day and now I just HAVE to eat there at least once a trip. You should definitely try it. I really like Peco Bill's, too. Their taco salads are yummy!

No, we didn't rent DVC points. I thought about it but from what I know, people aren't too keen on renting them unless you're staying for a longer period of time. We're only staying there two nights. I got a travel agent rate though and saved myself some money. I'm paying less for that than I would have for a Woods View room at WL.
Yes, look for Disney shirts at Kohl's. I think you can even find them online via their website. They have a lot of Tink and Mickey shirts.
I've heard a lot of good things about Cosmic Ray's. It sounds really cool. I will definitely have to check it out!! Pecos Bill's is a tradition for us. I guess we have it reversed. :)

So I've made all of my ADRs, finally.
9/20 - 5:40 @ Sci Fi
9/21 - 8:10 @ Tusker House for Donald's Safari Breakfast
9/21 - 8:20 @ Ohana with my cruise tablemates OR if that doesn't work out, 7:30 @ WCC
9/23 - 2:25 @ Coral Reef
9/27 - Hoop Dee Doo Review @ 7:15 Cat 1
9/28 - 2 pm @ San Angel Inn
Now all I have left to do is to book my shore excursions in a couple weeks. And make my final payment of course. ;) I can't believe how close the trip is getting!! :woohoo:

I have no clue why 'Ohana filled up so fast! I guess it's about as popular as Le Cellier now :confused3 Maybe next time we can get in there.... WCC sounds yummy though! I wonder if they just took my info from be being signed in on WDW website?! Who knows. I canceled it online, but I don't know if it counted b/c the CM I talked to to make our ADRs said that you can't cancel online... :confused3 It's all confusing. Yes--I wish they would have waited. Oh well... It's over and now I can move on to planning outfits! :upsidedow

One of my tablemates from my cruise meet thread booked us an ADR at Ohana for 8:20 which is better than 9:30. I think we're going to do that if everyone can get there so we can all meet before the cruise. If not, Joe and I will just go to WCC!
I've cancelled ADRs online. I wonder if the TA site is different than the public one? :confused3

I went shopping again! :rotfl: My new wardrobe is going to rival my vacation cost pretty soon. Just kidding! I have an Ann Taylor Loft card and when I signed up for it, got a certificate for 20% my purchase that had to be used by 6/30. So I figured I'd pick up a few things. And since there isn't much to update on until I make my shore excursions, here is a shopping update. ;) The third of this PTR. Sorry to any guys reading this! I'm sure this is not interesting!
I got this dress
http://anntaylorloft.richfx.com.edgesuite.net/image/media/233203_7893_productdetail214x278.jpg
This top in yellow. I have another one in coral from a previous Ann Taylor shopping spree. ;)
http://anntaylorloft.richfx.com.edgesuite.net/image/media/233905_9000_productdetail214x278.jpg
T-shirts were buy one, get one! I got one in white and another in brown.
http://anntaylorloft.richfx.com.edgesuite.net/image/media/233408_9000_productdetail214x278.jpg

YOU GUYS!!!! I am so, so, SO excited! :yay:
I was on the Disney TA website and they have ads for their promotions that change every few seconds. I happened to see 'Fall Travel Agent Appreciation Offer' Hmmmm....so I click on it and it's good for the dates I'm traveling. I would just be required to add on the water park option and more to my ticket. So I priced it out for WL...
It comes out to basically the same price I'm paying for staying at POR. So what do you think I did?
I JUMPED ON IT! I'm staying at WL! :yay::yay::banana::banana::dance3: All I had to do was fax them a copy of my card (IATA card that proves you work in the travel industry) or else it converts back to rack rate. I'm going to call tomorrow to make sure they got it.
Earlier in my PTR (for those who read all of it!) I was debating between AKL and WL for the last two nights of my stay and now I get to stay in BOTH! It's going to be awesome!!!
I haven't told Joe. This is ALL a secret from him (so cruise tablemates...shhhhh). He's going to be so surprised!
I can't wait, I can't wait, I can't wait! :woohoo:

I plan on going on my first cruise in just over 2 years!! I want my son to be old enough to enjoy the little adventurers club (or whatever its called). You have to pay for childcare if they aren't 3 and I wouldn't want to do that. I would rather pay for him to be a passenger and be able to leave him for free and not have to worry about that and booking times....
