Whew! Things must be really looking up, because it seems like you are joining us again! That's a good sign!
Your plans look great! I think you and Sharon are going to have a nice time wandering around WS; maybe it will even grow on you. :cool1:
Never been to Sunshine Seasons- you'll have to tell us all about it!
OKW! I know you've mentioned that you're really attracted to this one, and I"m sure the beds will be a plus for you. :thumbsup2

I am here!
And I got a new computer at work. My old one was so slow and a doctor needed something and asked me to pull it up...and thought he was going to freak when he saw how long it took the computer to "retrieve" it...so today I got a brand new FAST computer! :)
I can get my work done even faster! And not have to wait on junk to "post" or "pull up!" Woo hoo!
It is amazing what a few nights of rest will do for ya. :thumbsup2 I think I got 2 full nights in a row and it feels pretty good! :)

I wish you could see my office. :cool2: It is a dream job. Really. Someone was trying to get me to interview somewhere else and I told them no. I won't even talk to them. The grass is not always greener on the other side. :sad2:
And it is like lightening! Even on the DIS!! Woo Hoo! :)
Having said that...I gotta go get some work done! So I can KEEP this dream job! :) And get to leave on time. ::yes::

Maroo :rotfl: Guess I can delete all the SS stuff I had saved for you!!! And find some OKW stuff!! :rotfl: Actually I'm glad you switched - I think OKW is better fit for you - you can take a boat down to DTD - and eat at Wolf Gang Express - and that Sandwich of Earl place! Stop in the Christmas shop and get some pixie dust!!
Epcot snack - hmm on dining plan? Then a Kaki Gori (snow cone in Japan) or not on the DP - get a funnel Cake in America!! YUMMM!!
Great Plans!! Glad things are settling down - thanks for posting the link - I'll hit it up later - I'm on vacation - drove to see my mom and dad at the lake (NE corner of Indiana) so I have to get off and socialize!!

I am so glad to hear everyone got a good night's sleep! It is amazing what a restful night can do for the body and soul. Keep us posted.
I joined Mya's Caring Bridge and posted. Thanks for saying something.
 Woo-hoo (again) for OKW! I think it will be a better fit for you guys too.
I think your first day looks good. The food is good at Sunshine Seasons and there is a big variety. Just make sure you grab FPs for Soarin before you eat. They go quick!
:cheer2: for a new computer so you can fight those insurance guys and DIS!

Also...is the funnel cake not on the DP??? :scared1:
Please, please...all of you guys check out the link!!!

It IS amazing! So amazing in fact that I definitely hope we get to meet again! Because I am not sure I was not sleep deprived? :confused3
Thank you so much for posting on that. For the first time I really don't feel like our MAW family is being supported...most of our kids tend to have a LOT of support around them before they ever get to our site...but it doesn't seem like they are getting a lot of posts over there and many of them are from other websites...so I hope we can really show her the love.
FP for Soarin is the very top first thing to do when we get to Epcot! FP it and ride it! Hopefully from rope drop.

have you checked out the honeymoon section of the DIS? They probably have great ideas of non-plans you can make.

LOL Maroo - I hang out on the DVC Board because of our Jan trip (staying BCV!! :woohoo:) and anytime I'd see a good SSR post/info I'd say to myself, "oh I should let Maroo know about that!!" :rotfl: no worries - its all good and fun!!
Funnel Cakes - MK ON ddp - Epcot(in American area) NOT on DDP :confused3 its a connundrum all right. best thing dis'ers have figured out is the stand in epcot is independent - as most of the epcot areas are independent and negotiate with disney for dp reimbursements...
epcot - BEST Snack NOW on ddp - go to France - walk back towards the Eiffel Tower - on the left side (there is usually a line out the door - always a good sign!!) FRENCH PASTRIES!! ON DDP :woohoo: Creme Brulle - chocalate mousse... *sigh... (both sides have same stuff - it helps move that line fast!!) then when you get your snack - walk to your left where the store is - there in an a/c area are seats to eat your treats!! :dance3:
Not that I'm a planner or anything!! :rolleyes1

20 Days and counting!!!
Twenty days left my friends! Just 20! In three weeks I will actually be IN DISNEY WORLD! :goodvibes
Day 2 plans...
Day of the Week: Sunday
Park: AK
Breakfast: in room?
Lunch: Flame Tree BBQ or Pizzafari
Dinner: Boma
Snack?? Any hints here? Maybe a lemon slush?
We hope to make this by rope drop. Safari FP and let me do EE until I get sick of it or the line gets too long...whichever comes first. This is the one ride I really want to do that Sharon may not want to ... but she will just have to shop...or be on "camera" duty. ;)
We plan to do an EARLY lunch to miss the crowds.
As with most of this trip - it is going to be relaxed. We will fit in Nemo and Lion King, but should have no trouble with this. And the Safari.
And see what other things we can check out, too!!
Any Animal Kingdom thoughts? What interesting things can we do in AK that you guys have tried?
Once we finish at AK we will head over to AKL and check out the Lodge before it gets dark. Then after supper, we will go back out there and check it out in the dark. We plan to find some of those night vision goggles, too!
As far as later night plans...depends on what we got done the day before. Maybe Illuminations? Spectro? MK has EMH, but we will probably avoid?

WooHoo for 20 days!!!!!:banana::banana:We're at 110 and I'm getting excited - how can you even sleep at night?!?!
Unfortunately, AK is the park I know least about. It always ends up being a short day or 1/2 day for some reason. :guilty:
When you go see the Nemo Show, try to sit on the inside near the part of the stage that goes up the middle. When they are twirling the sea animals around during the show, they go right over your head - it's MAGICAL!
Your plan for EE is exactly the same as mine! My favorite ride in all of WDW!:yay:
Is this not a Fantasmic show night? If you have to choose between Illuminations and Spectro, I'd go with Illuminations because of the crowds. MK will be busy with EMH and the last thing you want to do is be waiting 1+ hours for a bus after getting up early enough for rope drop.
Just had a thought - 20 days puts you in WDW when my 90 days for ADRs hits - what am I going to do without you?? :confused3:rotfl2:

Woo Hoo!!!
This is GREAT information. I checked out the snack thread yesterday and if I want a funnel cake, I will just have to get one at MK, huh!!
So...care to share the best snacks at MK, AK and DHS while you are at it? You seem the wealth of information...
Not that you are a planner or anything...:rolleyes1
Sunshine Seasons - when you check out the lines - like they have a sandwich place, an Asian place, ... as you slide your tray down to see what they have, then you wander pack and think about it - DO NOT BE FOOLED by the desserts in between (in the cooler pre packaged!) Go ALL THE WAY to the last station = BAKERY station!! Desserts YUM!! (Yes, dh missed that and just picked up a prepackaged chocolate cake - not that there is anything wrong with that!! )
Boma - Great Plans - we did it that way - but we couldnt fit in both Lion King Nemo, and Safari and EE and the Dinosaur ride!! So do be flexible - because you want to enjoy all that AK has to offer as well - Its Tough to be a Bug is an AWESOME show - and there is a nifty secret path back there... We usually get a fresh frozen Lemon snack - its down by where they do the Bird Show - we have to do the Bird show - we get the snack then wait for the show to begin, we snack on that awesome lemony goodness!! (most places have the pre frozen Minute Maid Lemon ice - and that's good too)
Boma - we did enjoy the animals outside - but honestly - if you do the safari, dont carve out more than 15 min at AK - we walked over and around the pool thinking surely there was more paths to check out - nope...
We loved Boma - the drinks come with the DP - so ask about that juice drink they serve at breakfast - we found it to be really yummy!! I read a report that they've downsized the buffet - not as good - so I look forward to your review - I heard they have a sirloin type steak roast instead of the prime rib!! and desserts are individual, not in that big bowl thingy! (but their desserts are unique and really good!!)
after Boma we went to the PM emh park and rode Toy Story Mania instead of looking for the night vision goggles - it just pays to be flexible!!
In AK - Flame tree may be good (I LOVE me some BBQ) but I dont like that I have to sit outside and sweat! a/c is very important to me so we ate at Pizzafari - I'll post pix if I can find it - we went all the way back in a back back room, it was lovely and quiet!
I know I talk too much!
gotta go help DD!!
Sandy321
08-15-2009, 08:30 PM
Well, dd no longer has RED streaks - all covered up! :goodvibes
Snacks in each park? - that's for you to find out!! :goodvibes
per the DIS -
MK - over the bridge to Frontierland (going to Hall of Presidents ) there is the snack shack that has the Funnel Cakes - The Bridge near Crystal Palace that's where you find Aloha Island and get the Dole Whip Float! (one year we got the Funnel Cake - split it, while watching the show in front of the castle - you can sit at the tables there and see the show! Then we walked over for our float and split that!)
DHS - We get a fresh fruit snack or the frozen lemonade (same machine as the one in AK btw!) down on the way to Beauty and the Beast show -
AK - frozen lemonade!
They also have some great ice cream snacks too!!
Epcot - there arent enough snack credits! LOL but everyone goes to the France Pastry Shop - and I truly love Japan's Kaki Gori (snow cones! I dont like to mix my flavors, so I go for red!) Germany has the pretzels, Norway the School Bread used to be a "must do" but since they changed it - not so much...

Ok...I have lots of AK and AKL thoughts. We stayed at AKL and have spent a whole day at AK every trip (so three days).
If you get to AK for rope drop, walk right to the safari and ride. There is no need for a fast pass if you are there at rope drop. If you miss rope drop, then get a FP for later.
Nemo does not have as many shows typically as FOTLK so pick the time for that if you definitely want to see it and get in line early. It is a bit easier to get into FOTLK and there are more times - the last show does not seem to be very crowded.
The trails are interesting but it is no big deal if you miss them. Sharon might enjoy walking through the EE queue with you - there is a lot to look at in it if I remember right. If you haven't seen Devine yet you should try to see her.
As for food, we like doing a late breakfast at Tusker House but I would probably pick Pizzafari over Flame Tree BBQ. The other option is that new picnic thing they are doing.
As for AKL, walking around inside and out is really neat but there are not that many animals to look at so it probably won't take more than 45 minutes or so for inside and out. The night vision thing is not very good. When we were there they had one pair of night vision goggles and everyone had to share. They do storytelling every night around the fire pit which is neat to do depending on what time your reservation at Boma is.
Did I bore you yet???
Lol
Yeah...I am having NO problem sleeping these days! I guess I am still trying to catch up! :)

I have an apology to make.
To all of the people that have land, homes, friends and loved ones in the Orlando area...
Sharon and I have a history. A history that I have told a few people in passing...but have never detailed for you guys.
Sharon lived in Jackson for several years, got a divorce and eventually moved to FL to be near her family.
Since she has been in FL, we have tried to find time for me to get down there to visit.
The first time was in the summer of 2004. But there was a hurricane headed to FL and I was too chicken to head to her house (in the Panhandle). That hurricane missed her and was no big deal.
The second time we attempted my visit, another hurricane came around - IVAN. Her area was hit hard by Ivan and I was glad I had not come to visit. It was then that Sharon said she would ALWAYS evacuate!
So...we tried again...for the third time. And DENNIS shows up. Now, I remember Hurricane Dennis, because where we lived there was quite a bit of talk about New Orleans and what would happen if Dennis hit. There was a point that they were talking about evacuating. And there was NO WAY I was going to travel to FL in that evacuation. Dennis missed New Orleans (by a hair) and I was glad I stayed home.
So...a fourth time...and I was quoted to have said, "Come hell or high water, I AM COMING TO FLORIDA!" Well, I suppose you can guess what happened. :sad1: Katrina. A horrible, horrible event in our nation's history.
So we decided...no more visits. We will plan no more.
I have seen Sharon twice since then. But both times we have not "planned" it in advance. Once I was in town with my friends and we had supper. The second time I was on my way to Disney in February and called her to grab a quick bite while I was on the road.
So...now we have planned a trip. In the MIDDLE of Hurricane season. And I really thought we were in the clear. That surely there would be no storms this time. :sad2:
And I turn on the TV to see Ana, Bill and a third one churning. And I didn't even laugh. It is so not funny. Not after Katrina.
But I don't care. We are coming to Orlando. Those storms will not stop us.
So...if you plan to be there around Labor Day. Bring a poncho.

I've only been in March and October so its never too hot, but Flame Tree BBQ is my pick for lunch at AK. The pulled pork sandwich is :thumbsup2:thumbsup2. DW
Right near Y&Y there is the Y&Y Beverage Company. You can get a different beers from Asia and they even have frozen drinks too! DW always remembers where this is because she needs her drink! She either had a Yack Attack (Mango Daiquiri, Bacardi Light Rum, and Wildberry Flavors) or a Everest Avalanche (Bacardi Light Rum, mixed with Banana, Stawberry, and Mango Flavors) I can't remember! LOL

Oh, Maroo! It sounds as though you two have had a fair streak of bad fortune.
Don't worry! It's so likely that those storms will change paths, head elsewhere, not be as bad as originally predicted that I wouldn't even give it a second thought. I've actually been to Disney during hurricane season many times, and actually once when they shut down the parks.
This was actually our very first trip with our DS, he was eight or nine months old at the time! We just stayed in our room, and they had Disney movies playing on a channel they set up specifically. Mom braved the elements (which really was a very rainy, windy day to us) and went to the food court for provisions, and later on, when the storm had passed, the parks were open later to compensate.
There was another occasion, actually, I think I was pregnant and a huge hurricane was set to hit Florida.
I've never been one to cancel my trips due to the weather, and do you know, it actually bypassed Florida and headed elsewhere, into the ocean?
I guess my long and rather convulated point is have poncho, will travel. :thumbsup2

what my dear is disney without a poncho? i have only been once when it was not hurricane season. we have been thru tropical storm jerry and tropical storm fay. as a matter of fact i even made up a poncho song about 10 years ago. i will sing it for you so you can use it too.
"life is lovely in a poncho
life is dandy in a poncho
i look like the head honcho
in my lil yellow poncho
what would you do?
if you were stuck with clear or blue
would you go boohoo boohoo
the colors make me gag
you look like a garbage bag
do do do do do do do"
and if you had not by now realized what a nutcase i am now you know
my family cant stand when the ponchos come out because they know i will start singing:scared1:

I am a v.e.r.y slow trip report writer! So, if I don't get to them fast enough, let me know and I can give you a review!
Well, dd no longer has RED streaks - all covered up!
Sandy...your hints are AWESOME!!! :) I have down for us to possibly go to EMH at the MK...if we get "bored" (that is what I wrote??) at the AKL. I will be back there in December.
And we won't be doing Dinosaur...so that should save us a little time!
You were fine but we should definitely meet again.
You don't like Fantasmic!!! I love Fantasmic! Not as much as Wishes but definitely better than Illuminations. Though we skipped Illuminations the last two trips so I do need to give it another chance.
yeah...last time someone "walked through the queue with me" she ended up riding space mountain and screaming my name the whole time!
And no, you never bore me!
Great hints...especially on Nemo! We just HAVE to see that...and I want good seats...so I hope to get there early. :thumbsup2
How is your sweet daughter?? (Can I say her name online? I need to know that before I post the first part of my Magic Meets TR - I am doing a TR for that!!)
Well Maroo, look at it this way. There is plenty of time for those three storms to be gone by the time you go. Of course.......who knows what will be behind them. :upsidedow
This is very true!
Can you believe how fast Claudette creeped up on us? :confused3 It's like Rachel said, "Since when does C come before A?"
She's back alright! :yay:
LOL
I like the ribs at FT, but I also love the pizza at Pizzafari!
Neither of us drink much alcohol. I am not sure she drinks at all. But I would be sick if I tried to drink alcohol in the heat. I am a wimp!
:thumbsup2
Definitely!
I am all about going...I don't care if there is a storm or not. Just more memories to add to life! We had a BLAST in the rain on Lauren's wish trip. I think it is all in how you look at it.
But I do feel bad for the poor people who chose the same week as us to travel!
Did you like how Claudette just slid right past Orlando! :cool2:
what my dear is disney without a poncho? i have only been once when it was not hurricane season. we have been thru tropical storm jerry and tropical storm fay. as a matter of fact i even made up a poncho song about 10 years ago. i will sing it for you so you can use it too.
"life is lovely in a poncho
life is dandy in a poncho
i look like the head honcho
in my lil yellow poncho
what would you do?
if you were stuck with clear or blue
would you go boohoo boohoo
the colors make me gag
you look like a garbage bag
do do do do do do do"
and if you had not by now realized what a nutcase i am now you know
my family cant stand when the ponchos come out because they know i will start singing:scared1:
Awesome!
:rotfl:
We want more!

Who, by the way, is doing GREAT! We all went to church today AND had enough energy to go out to eat. She is playing on her computer and I am playing on mine! :) Life is good!

Ok. . .that hurricane thing is a little scary! Though I agree with everyone else, everything will be fine but if not grab a poncho and remember that you are in WDW!
Jordan is good. Feel free to use her name, talk about her and post photos if you want to. Only good things though! J/K Feel free to tell how she couldn't stop pestering Miss Mary and Muffin. Though when you left and she was upset about not seeing Muffin I did tell her you would let her talk to Muffin on the phone - I hope you don't mind.

answers to prayers are SO wonderful!:cool1:
I love the poncho song!:rotfl2: I'm gonna learn it for my next trip. My family will just love me even more.:lmao:
I do understand that Disney is one of the safest places to be during a storm. We were there the October after Katrina. We decided to continue with the trip since it was paid for and we needed a break from all of the destruction when a couple days before we were to leave a storm (tropical I think) was headed for Florida. I asked a couple CMs if we should leave and they said definitly no. We were safer at Disney then anywheres else.

Girl!! Is there anything I could say about Jordan that would not be good??!?! She is PRECIOUS, smart, polite! She is awesome! And you can tell her I said that!
I am hoping to start on my Magic Meets TR this week. I hope to be able to get completely done before I leave for the Sept trip!
You guys can call me anytime! :) I would LOVE to talk to Jordan on the phone! And Muffin does a pretty good job of that, too, actually. She will sometimes whine on command (but let's keep that our secret until after it happens...just in case! ;))

I wish I could have stayed in Disney for Katrina. What an awful month.

Well, I missed a whole weekend of amazing posts and discussion. It's like looking at a golden bracelet studded with diamonds and other precious gems!
--Hurray that Ra is better!! :yay:
--You switched resorts AGAIN- naw, not maroo!:confused3
--Super fun hints and tip Sandy and Jen!! WTG!
--I'd say bring a couple of ponchos! Ours tore in several places when we went (getting in and out of rides with them is doesn't do them any good) and we were glad we had extras.
--I'm torn too about where to eat at AK. So, here's the deal, since they all sound good (I've only eaten at FT), I"m just going with the plan to eat at whatever place is closest to where I get hungry.
I just looked at your ticker!!! You are soooooooo close now. That means you are closer to seeing what you might score for our trip, as well as having a super fun time with Sharon!! I am excited!

I will have one poncho per day! :thumbsup2 I don't wear used ponchos. :rotfl: They get all sticky? So I get the $1 ponchos and purchase one per day of my trip. I realize I could use more than one per day, but that usually works out. I also have a small umbrella that I got at Magic Meets that will be coming with me!

I missed most of the post from yesterday and it was so funny when I opened it today to start reading them it was the hurricane talk. I was watching the news and seen the hurricanes brewing. I was thinking oh great we leave in about 19 days and look at the weather headed toward Fla. We have not travel muched but it always seem to be when we do plan something there is always some kind of a weather happening. We have timing like your trip with your friend. I guess we can brave it out together in Disney.

5 nights...at OKW 1 BR Villa...Free Dining for two...costs me:
$150 in 1 Day MYW Tickets (I will use $75 toward my AP renewal and Sharon will use hers toward tickets)
$82 per night for lodging. This includes Dining. So $410 plus tax?
The total is a little over $600 for the whole package. MAJOR pixiedust:

But the main event of the day is the 8:00 PM ressie we have at California Grill! :yay: :woohoo: We will be there for the Fireworks (at 10:00) hopefully able to watch them from the observation deck.

That is so awesome... plus a great deal!
Will Maroo ever reveal her secrets to getting upgrades?????
Only time will tell! LOL:rotfl:
Sure...I will tell you everything I know...really...right here...
1. Hang out on the Codes and Rates portion of the Resorts Board. They have lots of hints over there and most of what I learned was from those guys.
2. Register your email as many places as you can. Order a planning DVD. (Register all of your emails.) Also join the Disney.com site (not just Disney World, but all things Disney).
3. Play around with vacation packages on "My Vacation" on the Disney website. Make sure you are logged in under your email address. I usually only do "real" dates when I will be there and look at value vs moderate vs deluxe, with and without dining. And I just play with it. And then I try to "close" it without booking and sometimes it gives me a survey. If it does, check the dot that indicates you are looking for a better deal. If it comes up more than once, click it lots of times. I KNOW one of my PINs came from this because the email indicated that I had "not booked with us" and wanted me to "consider this amazing offer"...
4. Never hurts to ask. I used this for this upgrade. I knew (from the DIS) that there were people who got the same PIN I did and were able to choose a 1BR Villa...so I knew it was possible. The CM didn't really believe me (which is totally fine) and was stunned when she "priced it out for me" and my price didn't change. So...if you know it is possible...ask. Never hurts (if you ask kindly and innocently). I had asked about 4 more times when I was calling about other things. Always be nice - very nice. Don't mention the DISboards...but you can say "A friend of mine also got this PIN and she was able to _____" Some of them don't appreciate the DISboards as much as we do!
5. Check the Codes and Rates boards every morning. Sometimes they announce deals and they go VERY FAST. Both the 40% off deal and the special upgrade PIN were things I had to act on within the hour or they would have been gone. For my WL stay (40% off), I got the LAST room in the type I wanted. For the "upgrade to SSR/OKW" PIN - there were people calling 30 minutes later that were not able to take advantage of the deal.
So, there ya have it...Hints from Maroo about Upgrades. I might even make this a post....
I was right and That's Nice agrees with me.

It's a roller coaster ride....
Rachel is on her way to the ER this morning. She is nauseated and has a headache. They are now thinking maybe her shunt (tube in her brain that drains brain fluid) is malfunctioning (which could have caused all of this).
So she is on her way to the hospital.
I will let you guys know what is up from here.
Please, please pray for them both!

Prayers indeed!
Maroo - for your Cali Grill ressie - rest assured you will get to view WISHES from their balcony! This is the best place at letting you know when to head out - and if you have a window seat, they do dim the lights and pipe in the music - but honestly - you have to walk out to the balcony! Maybe when you come up the elevator while waiting for your table - head out there!!
Have you registered at gheridelli.com? I forget why, but its been a hint to do that!

No news on Rachel...except she just waited in the waiting room for hours. I hope she doesn't get something else! (She did wear a mask, but still.)
Just wondering what you guys think...
The rumor is that the Candlelight Processional will be 2 Dining Credits this year. And it is a fixed menu. They only have added a "special seating (actually standing) area for Illuminations"...
I don't think it is worth so much money to do that? Certainly not 2 credits?
Am I alone here?
Sandy321
08-20-2009, 02:49 PM
never did the Candle light - but I have read about it!! With the rumours of going to 2TS most say its not worth it -
I know you have to do the math - and figure out what your likes and dislikes are! and of course read all you can!! (with DD being a picky eater, using the DDP for Cali grill isnt worth 2 TS for our family - we pay OOP for that (DD gets a flatbread pizza, and that's it! So dh and I will usually get an entree and just water -I think last time we paid $70 for the 3 of us) - and for some - that would be crazy!! It just depends!!

We won't be doing CP. I was so looking forward to it. Was still considering it as a 2TS, but when the fixed menu was "announced" I decided againist it. My family won't like the fixed menu and I have heard from others about the special area for Illuminations and they say unless you are at the front of the area, it's the same as being any wheres else. Just not worth it in my opinion. Especially since I had it planned for lunch.

Wasn't it 2 credits last year, too?
Also, there was an issue with DDP and CP and tipping last year. I believe that there was a mandatory 18% tip on the cost of purchasing the CP oop, but, with the DDP they didn't give you an appetizer, so, you were expected to tip on a cost that was higher than the food you'd ordered. It was weird.
I doubt I'd use DDP credits for the CP, but, then, I didn't think that DxDP credits were a good deal for HDDR and I ended up using them that way simply because it fit my vacation plans.

Rachel Update:
Rachel WAS feeling better when they released her...but as we were about to leave Olive Garden, she had a "spell" where she got really hot, her face went pale and she got real nauseated. It was very strange and pretty scary for us all. We have no idea what happened. But we did get her home (which is a long story and my car is hopefully still in the parking lot of Olive Garden) and to sleep.
We have no idea what is up. They totally cleared her to go home. There is a virus going around. Several of our good friends from church have it and I guess it is possible this is unrelated to the rest of the stuff and just a virus? Time will tell, I suppose.
AND
Tuesday Plans!!
Park: DHS
Breakfast: In the room
Lunch: Brown Derby
Dinner: Counter Service wherever we are! :)
The major plans for the day.........
*drumroll please!*.......
Sharon is...
Trying out for American Idol!!!!
She is a pretty good singer! So hopefully she will make it!
We have no plans for the evening. We will gas up her car and get all packed, because we will both be heading out the next day!

Continued prayers for Rachel - May God continue to watch over her, and heal her!!
Best AI Wishes for Sharon!! :wizard:
For Counter Service at DHS - the best is over by Indiana Jones - called Backlot Express - the worst (and I'm not alone here!!) Is ABC Commissary - now BE is hard to find - and ABC is easy to find - so it gets the most traffic!! Do yourself a favor go to BE (and it is kinda as you are walking towards Indy and Star tours - BE is set back between them - and timing is everything - if you get there before Indy lets out - no lines, a show at Indy lets out LINES!!!
Never been to Brown Derby (2TS on DDP - we'd rather eat at Cali Grill, Yachtsman etc) but my friend swears by it - they are well known for their Grapefruit cake!!! (and the Cobb Salad - which seems really weird to me btw!!)

We also like the Pizza Planet Restaurant for CS in Disney Studios. If you go upstairs above the arcade it is not so noisy. You get a personalized pizza, drink, salad and a large cookie for your CS credit. It has a Buzz Lightyear theme with large little green aliens hanging from the ceilings.

Hey, I have to go back and catch up on everything I missed, but did read the update on Rachel and her spell at Olive Garden. MK Wed - Honestly if we were near Tomorrowland station - we'd eat there (it can be confusing there are 3 different areas of food - one area sandwiches, one area chicken, one burgers) and if we were over by Pirates, or Splash we'd eat at Pecos Bill - then... I read THE DISBOARDS!! :rotfl2:
over by Haunted Mansion is Colombia Harbor House - get your food and head upstairs!! DD gets chicken strips, I think dh and I split a CS combo platter of fried fish - but its the good crunchy beer batter kind (I so dont like fish!!)

Well...it got rained on today. :sad2: Yes...it rained...in my office! I'm not going to multi-quote because that would just take forever! Here are some thoughts (and I really should be working right now).
:banana: For the one bedroom villa with a hottub! You are the upgrade queen!
Did the secret Wish thing work out or are you still working on it? Some time at DTD would be nice. We enjoyed Wolfgang Pucks express. Calif Grill and Wishes sounds great! You can always slip in some park time at the MK or Epcot before Cali Grill if the mood hits you.
That was our Maroo mentioned in All Ears. In fact, when I read it I dropped everything and texted her in case she had not seen it yet and she hadn't. She is famous! Everyone at Magic Meets knew who she was. I was very lucky to be her one woman entourage when we were there.
I hope Rachel is okay! Do you have an updates? I assume no news is good news.
I don't know anything about CP.

Hi All,
Here's the scoop.... maroo is pretty darn sick!! In fact, she saw the doc. yesterday, and not only does she have a fever and abdom. pain, she has an elevated white count. She have another test tom. and if the levels are still high or higher, they will look more closely at what's going on.
The upshot is that she has really become "blah" (her own words) and unmotived about her trip!! :scared1: She says she doesn't want to go if she is feeling this bad.
Please pray for her!! She HAS to go to work tomorrow or she says she won't be able to go to WDW in Dec. with Rachel!!

You guys are so sweet. Thank you for all of your well wishes! I am truly sorry I made any of you guys worry.
I am feeling pretty bad. Actually, I woke up feeling better this morning, but less than an hour or so after being up and walking around, I already feel crappy. Not sure what that has to do with anything.
I really am bummed about my trip. I have not felt well for days...started last Saturday. Just tired - feeling run down. (Probably am run down.) But yesterday it got worse. I have no idea what is wrong at this point. :( Kidney stone? Appendicitis? Just the stomach bug. Don't worry, no flu like symptoms!
Rachel is MUCH, MUCH better and basically back to herself! We believe, because of this "comeback" that it was probably the sodium levels that caused the illness. She has had some progression of her lung disease that comes with the genetic condition she has, but overall is doing much better than we ever expected.
Matt0126 is actually a MOM of one of our wish kids. One of her sons is named Matt! I just figured you guys would wonder and then thought I would mess with you guys a little bit. I will get to meet her when I am in Disney, which will be beyond cool - and I can't wait to tell you guys about that when I get back.
Totally unrelated to Disney, but definitely related to our life around here with Lauren and Rachel is that we have lost 3 kids to the swine flu in Mississippi. :littleangel: :littleangel: :littleangel: Ages were 7, 12/13, and 15...otherwise healthy kids. This is disturbing to us - as both Rachel and Lauren are susceptible to major complications if they were to catch this flu. Rachel's Mom is restricting Rachel from going to the store or any place where there is a pharmacy. Rachel basically gets out for church, to go shopping, and other things - but no major contacts with school age children or anything. Lauren, on the other hand, is in a large high school, involved in all sorts of school activities, and there is very little we can do to protect her (aside from the normal washing your hands junk). This has been a major topic of discussion around here today and we are even considering what we will when Lauren's classmates start getting the flu - take her out of school for a little while? Until she can get vaccinated? It is a serious discussion around here.
So...there ya have it.
On a lighter note...
Both Lauren and I are on a podcast today called All About the Mouse. :yay: You can find it herehttp://www.allaboutthemouse.com. You can listen from any computer. They interviewed both of us about our experience at Give Kids the World. It was fun to do the interview. I have not listened to it yet...I guess I should before I tell all of you to go listen...but if I sounded stupid, we can all laugh together! I love the podcast as a whole and really would encourage everyone to listen to it weekly, honestly. Lots of good information and they are just fun to listen to and are genuinely nice guys.

I need to make a correction to something I posted earlier about the swine flu...
The 7 year old did have other complications...they are not saying what...but he had other medical problems. Not that it gives us much comfort as it relates to Lauren and Rachel - but it should to any parents to "typical" kids some comfort.
Enough about the swine flu....

Hey Mary, glad you are feeling better. Throwing some pixie dust your way. :)
Will try and listen to the podcast tomorrow, I'm beat, it's been a very long week.
Latest on swine flu information is they think it isn't airborne since they ran some tests on animals, so as long as Lauren keeps her hands clean- all should be well. Though the news has had me debate putting my Jack in school at all since he is only 4 it isn't necessary yet, just wanted him to be ready for Kindergarten. BAaack to Maroo!! :cool1:
Well....I think she calls it that because I call it that!
It will always, always be the electrical parade to me! :) That is one thing from my childhood trips I do remember!
Thanks for the compliments! I really like that podcast and they are really nice guys. It will be fun to meet them and hang out in December!
:rotfl2::rotfl2:
I believe (dont quote me on this! :rolleyes1) The Electric Parade - is the name of the parade that is on the 7 Seas Lagoon - it is a series of lighted moving lights on boats - it goes by Grand Floridian, then Polynesian, then Contempory (and can be seen while dining at Cali Grill!! I know!!) the Ft Wilderness, then in front of Magic Kingdom - then back along the canal - its a rusty scrappy boaty looking thing if you are on the monorail from GF to MK - and look out you can see where it hangs in that canal!!

And he puts his hands in his mouth a lot.:confused3
Since Lauren doesn't really put her hands to her face (she can't do that easily anyway) then she is clear on that. But she puts pens in her mouth to write...so that is something we are trying to figure out a way to clean. And those of us that take care of her (picking her up, etc) really need to be careful, too. :)
I hope you have been able to listen to the podcast! :)
Oh, Maroo!
I am so glad to hear you are feeling better, and I haven't been on the DIS, so I missed your being sick, and being able to pray for you! Will you take some late prayers now for continued health???
I'm glad you're feeling excited about your trip again. So CLOSE!!!:banana::banana:
I will take ALL prayers!
I have not been on the DIS much this weekend...busy weekend and busy week ahead - PLUS I am leaving for Disney in FIVE days!!!!!!
Hope you're feeling much, much better...I so enjoy your TR and NEED another one soon! ;)
You and Lauren are always in my prayers,I will say some extra for y'all and Rachel too! :grouphug:
Aw! You are so sweet! Thanks for posting!
I owe you guys a Magic Meets TR AND a Sept TR when I get back! Behind and I have not even left yet. :rotfl:

You must be getting super excited.. You are almost home!!!:goodvibes

Congrats to your son! Triathlons are hard!!! :) OMG...cold water! I could not do that! NEVER.
Ok...I totally had to look this up! Because I was thinking...the ONE thing I remember from Disney World when I was a kid and I remember it wrong? Uh oh!
The current Electrical Parade IS the Electrical Water Pagent, which has run since 1971. But there was a "Main Street Electrical Parade" that ran from 1977 to 1991. ;) I am very thankful there is such a thing...I thought I was crazy. :rotfl:
I love your posts! :) Keep praying! Don't stop for nothing! (Did you catch that Southern draw?)

So, in this update, let's review my transportation plans...
I leave on Friday evening from Jackson. I fly BACKWARDS to Houston. :confused3 And then to Orlando. I won't get there till 11:30.
The plan is for Sharon to pick me up from the airport. If she is running late, then I will catch the Magical Express. I am only bringing a carryon since I have a washer and dryer. I am already worried that I will be spoiled by this DVC room... :rolleyes1
Of course, Sharon will have her car during the week, if we prefer to take a car vs the bus.
Since Sharon is not leaving until Noon or so on Wednesday, we decided she can drop me off at the airport, which will save me from getting a towncar or anything.
So...there you have it! I am excited folks!!!!!

Are you guys taking lots of precautions while you are there so you don't bring it home?
We are planning to bring bleach wipes (Sharon's idea, she is a teacher) and lots of hand sanitizer to use while we are at the parks.
And I plan to stay away from both Lauren and Rachel for a few days after I get back. Just to be sure. Since I am flying and will be around lots and lots of people.
But we have lots of cases around here, so we are trying to take those precautions at home, too.
It isn't too bad here yet. Just a few cases here and there.

I think Mongello would be proud I knew a little Disney history... :rotfl:
Podcasts that are good....In ALPHA order...as to not offend anyone....
All About the Mouse www.allaboutthemouse.com This is a great one! Usually long. They play good games. Have great interviews.
Be Our Guest www.beourguestpodcast.com This one is more informal.
DIS Unplugged www.disboards.com Usually a long podcast and lots of banter back and forth. Very fun to listen to - more editorial in nature than just news and info.
WDW Radio Show (I think this is the name of it?) Lou Mongello He gets a lot of podcasting awards each year. He is into the history of Disney and his podcasts are long and very detailed. Not for the faint of Disney heart!
WDW Today www.wdwtoday.com These are SHORT podcasts - usually less than 30 minutes and chock full of information.
My DIS time has definitely been down too. I've been subscribed to TK's TR and PTR and That's Nice's PTR and haven't had time to read any of them. I am struggling to keep up with the ones I've been active on for awhile. And I want to start my own PTR before my trip is here already. :lmao:

I've been gone all weekend so I need to multi-quote to catch up on your PTR Maroo!
Hi All,
Here's the scoop.... maroo is pretty darn sick!!
Please, Lord, heal Mary!!!!
So sorry you were so incredibly sick. What a bummer to be "blah" about Disney - so unlike you!
Ages were 7, 12/13, and 15...otherwise healthy kids.
Yea for Rachel doing MUCH better! All those prayer warriors have been heard!
Is Matt the possible recepient of some Make A Wish magic that you previously mentioned?
The whole swine flu drama has me losing sleep too because of Bella. I am so excited for her to start kindergarten tomorrow :cool1: but at the same time so worried that she will catch it. Thankfully, her teachers know she has a decreased immune system and I think (read: PRAY) they will take every precaution I would! I hope Lauren's teachers do as well.
I am going to listen to Lauren's podcast debut later on. My list of autograph requests has just grown by one more! One from the famous Lauren please! I also need to start bookmarking and listening to podcasts while I am cleaning the house. Which would be the best one for rookies like me?

For the sake of speed at this point, I am only going to use my PINK writing to quote back...I am so sorry! I am thread overloaded right now, thought! Speed is very important these days!
So sorry you were so incredibly sick. What a bummer to be "blah" about Disney - so unlike you!
Thanks for the well wishes! I was blah and it was certainly not like me! More on the sickness in a bit...
Yea for Rachel doing MUCH better! All those prayer warriors have been heard!
No joke!!! This has been a wonderful, wonderful answer to prayer! We really have the old Rachel back - which is awesome!
Is Matt the possible recepient of some Make A Wish magic that you previously mentioned?
Matt0123 is the Mom of Lucas. And it does seem like Lucas is going to get some pixie dust on his trip! I have no idea who all is "listening" so I will leave it at that! But it has the potential to be one of the COOLEST things I have ever gotten to do. Granting a child's wish has to be a highlight of life!
There seems to be a lot of people around here that don't seem to care. I did find out today that they do have cases at her school. The main thing for her is that her assistant (who hands her things, etc) keeps herself from getting it. That is vital. And I told Lauren no hugging on boys! (I am sure she will straight up ignore that request!)
I am going to listen to Lauren's podcast debut later on. My list of autograph requests has just grown by one more! One from the famous Lauren please! I also need to start bookmarking and listening to podcasts while I am cleaning the house. Which would be the best one for rookies like me?
I will let Lauren know you want her autograph! You are so funny!
The All About the Mouse podcast is really long...if you are looking for long and entertaining.
WDW Today is shorter and each episode stands alone...so you don't have to "know" the podcasters as much to keep up.
The DIS podcast is great, but I listened for months before I started to catch on to some of the jokes and banter. Very entertaining, but you have to be in for the long haul.
Be Our Guest Podcast is fairly long and stands alone. They are very conversational. It really seems like they are just like you and me going to Disney...if that makes sense.
WOOHOO for feeling better!!! Did you ever get a diagnosis?
I did just today...I will update about that in a sec.

3 DAYS!!!!!
:cheer2: :yay: :woohoo: :cool1: :dance3: :woohoo::yay: :cheer2:
That is right folks... Friday night I will be in DISNEY WORLD!!!
I can't wait! I am getting more excited each and every day. I also can't wait to get home and tell you guys all about it. It has the potential to be an awesome trip!
I do have a prayer request before I go, though.
I had a doctor's appointment today because I continue to have these "spells" where I am feeling really sickly. This has been much worse over the past two weeks - so we thought it was appendicitis or something. But - we now think it is a kidney stone.
I have a history of kidney stones and we know I have 2 waiting to pass. Historically I have had very long hospital stays due to complications from kidney stones, but have not had one in quite a while.
This makes sense - as they usually pass when I am dehydrated and I have not been drinking as much water since I was staying at Rachel's house. They have Diet Coke and I would rather drink that! I tend to drink more Propel when I am at my house.
Anyway...long story short. I have antibiotics to take on my trip. Some anti-nausea medicine and a little pain meds. But if it actually starts to pass on my trip - that would be very crummy! So please pray for me - for good health on my trip! I can deal with the rest after I get home.
I am feeling better in the past day or so because I have been drinking a lot more water. So, the plan is to drink lots of water on my trip and take it easy.
Sharon has had a very hard week...just starting her doctorate program and school started - so we are both sorta planning a very relaxed trip to Disney! So that is good!
3 Days!!!!!:cheer2:

hmmm - ok Lord as we look at the map - I know YOU have the power to blow that storm away from Florida!! Praise be to God!!
My brother is in Houston, not me... I'm in the cold frozen north - near Chicago!!
Kidney Stones - :scared1: My first born DS btdt... :scared1: so yes, you'll have my prayers!! God is good!! Believe!! Also drink more lemonade - add fresh squeezed lemons to your water!! I've done lots of research and Lemons and lemonade helps to prevent some kidney stones from forming!! You need to be drinking at least 3 liters of water/fluid a day - 4 liters in Disney!!
Lemonade increases the levels of citrate in your urine, and citrate helps prevent stone formation. Avoid the powdered lemonade mix - the frozen is just fine or liquid lemonade is fine! Drink at least 8 - 16 ounces a day!!
There was also stuff about diet - calcium is fine - drink your milk, eat your yogurt and cheeses!!

3 DAYS!!!!!
:cheer2: :yay: :woohoo: :cool1: :dance3: :woohoo::yay: :cheer2:
I love it so far - from the stuff I have done just around here and in PA. But the real test will be in Disney!! :)
Thanks......
And has anyone seen this?

I actually went through the whole "test the kidney stone" thing and mine are caused by phosphate? Or something like that. Not the normal stones. I have a list of things I can't eat or drink...that is quite long and include bread, donuts, tea....bunch of stuff. That I eat anyway. :rolleyes1

Hey guys.
I brought back a souvenir from Disney....
The flu!
I started feeling bad yesterday - headache, fever. And a cough.
I went to the dr and tested positive for the flu. The swine flu is so widespread in MS now that they are not sending off samples anywhere. The dr put me on Tamiflu and I am stuck at home for the next 5 days.
I feel pretty crummy. Very sore! Massive headache.

I am feeling much better...and I am kinda bored.
The dr said I have to really try to stay away from people until WEDNESDAY! Goodness!
I don't feel great...but if this was not something I could spread, I would feel ok to go to the store or something.
So...I am going to try to work on some trip reporting! I am glad to report that this swine flu is not hitting me too bad at all! :thumbsup2
So...I am toying with doing a trip report a little differently. I am thinking about NOT doing it in chronological order, but instead doing reviews on different topics...
I thought about maybe:
* Transportation
* Lodging
* Food! (Of course!) and Snacks
* Epcot
* AK
* MK
* DHS
* American Idol Show - Auditions and The Show
* The BOY - This will be an interesting chapter....:rolleyes1
* Lucas and Family
Not necessarily in that order.
What am I missing? What else would you guys like to know from the trip?

Sorry you're sick - did the dr actually confirm it was the swine flu? If so, you are the first person I *know* that has had it!
I'm home in bed with an ear infection myself (luckily? I can work from home), but reading your new TR sure would make me feel better!

Here in MS the flu is considered "widespread"... So much so that they are no longer sending off positive "flu" tests to see if they are swine or not.
So...they are just testing us for the Influenza Type A...if you are positive, then they assume it is the swine flu. 98% of all flu samples in the US are testing positive for the "swine" variety. Later in the year, when it gets colder, it will be harder to tell what kind you have.
Because I have asthma, they did give me Tamiflu.
I was feeling MUCH better yesterday. But I did a little laundry and picked up my house some (it really needed some attention)...and I think I did too much.
I was planning on going back to work today. But when I woke up this morning I was in a full blown asthma attack. So...back to bed for me.
I wish I could work from home. At this point...my whole December vacation is suddenly up in the air since I have missed so much work. :sad1:

This is sorta strange. Makes me wonder if I get up before dawn for no reason?
I called...and got a GOOB CM. You guys know I love my CM's! But Really.
Normally, I would jump online. But since I am sick. And didn't have to hold....
I called.
Party of 7. One child.
CRT? No. What about another date? No.
Crystal Palace? No. Nothing for the night we wanted.
1900 Park Fare? No. Nothing for either night.
Yak and Yeti? NO! Nothing for the whole day????
WHAT???? No Yak and Yeti?!?! Something is WRONG!
So...as I was on the phone with him, I jumped online. He was right. No party of 7 for CRT. But when I booked a table for 4 and a table for 3....I had NO PROBLEM. 8:05 and 8:10.
Now...that is not a genius thought, is it?? :confused3
Long story short. I got everything I wanted. The only time I had to split us up was for CRT. I think it helped that the hard ressies were toward the end of our trip. :thumbsup2
I got off the phone quick with that CM. I was not rude. But I did express my disappointment that I was able to find party of 7 at Crystal Palace with no problem. He was pretty frustrated, too.
It was almost as though he was trying to push "easy" restaurants?
"You could do Liberty Tree Tavern. It isn't a character meal, but it will be able to take you."
Whatever. Nothing against LTT. But we wanted CRT. Big difference.
Phew.
Here are the ADR's.
Tuesday, December 15: Le Cellier Candlelight Processional Package (I got this one the other day when I did call early!) This is just for Rosemary, Rachel, Joyce (Rachel's Mom) and I. Before Ellie's family gets there.
Thursday: Yak and Yeti for lunch. 12:00. Honestly. I don't know if we will keep this one. I just wanted options. We will either do Rainforest (no ressies), FTB, Pizzafari or Yak and Yeti. We will decide once we all get a chance to talk again and release this one if it doesn't appeal to everyone.
Thursday Night: MVMCP - No Ressies. We wanted to be free to roam this night. I wonder if I should try for a Plaza ressie? Just in case they want to sit down for supper? Hmmm....
Friday: Late Boma Breakfast.
Friday: 1900 Park Fare for supper 6:00 PM
Saturday: CRT 8:05 for four of us. CRT 8:10 for 3 of us. Hopefully they will be able to actually seat us close together. But there are really two groups of us anyway, so it will work out fine. :)
Saturday PM: Crystal Palace 6:00 PM
Not bad at all!
Maybe I got a little pixie dust for feeling so crummy.

WHEW! Had me going there for a minute. Glad you got everything you wanted. :cool1:
I have always had CMs split us if the big group number wouldn't work. Heck, I even had a 2 & 3 at Brown Derby last year, but then we all sat together.
You'll be okay, maybe you need another day off to recuperate from the near heart failure.

I understand about CM's who "can't (or won't) work the system", but let's be real here. Forgetting to make your ADR's- GOOB-city, woman!!!! We will conveniently chalk this little "mishap" up to being sick and whacked out from Piggy Flu. Only once. :lmao:
But as they say on Little House on the Prairie, "All's well that ends well." Ha!
See, you can work the magic!! :wizard: Is it not a no-brainer to split the party? Why didn't he think of that? Something fishy is going on around there.
I would keep the ressie at Y&Y until that morning, then decide. That way you have options. Options are good!

I have to laugh too, to each their own right? I'm dying to get into Yak and Yeti and I can't for this trip! And you're thinking of cancelling. :lmao: I don't mean that disrespectfully at all, I just love what makes all of us tick, you know? :goodvibes

Hey guys!
Sorry so long since an update.
I have been in a funk for the past day or so...and not really DISing much.
I have missed so much work that I am not going to be able to do the trip I was imagining in December. So...now I gotta figure out how to spend the few vacation days I have left this year.
So...for now...this pre-trippie is pretty far up in the air. I know I will be doing something in December...just not sure what that looks like now?

Ok...
This is what I am thinking.
First...I am definitely going with Rachel's family on the last part of this vacation. It will use at least 2.5 days and I have three left. So...that part of the trip is safe! :dance3:
Now...I just need to decide what to do about the DAP portion. Which...technically means this title should change to how TWO trips became FOUR...But I digress. :faint:
It is a complex problem.
I COULD:
Fly out on Friday around noon and fly back on Sunday around 6:00 PM.
If I did this...I would be able to participate in the following activities - without going into too much detail:
MVMCP on Friday evening
Jellyrolls on Friday evening with All About the Mouse Podcast team.
Back to room around 1AM.
Volunteer at GKTW from 8:00 AM (which will mean leaving the resort by 7:30 at the very latest)
Rest a couple of hours at the room
To Epcot for Kim Possible meet with All About the Mouse Podcast team
To Yehaw Bob meet with WDW Today Podcast Team
To Toy Story party with the DIS Podcast Team (if I can get tickets)
back to room around 1AM or later
9:00 AM MK - Very Special Trip to Harmony Barber Shop *see below*
11:00 AM MK - Disney Pyramid game with All About the Mouse Podcast team
Hang out at MK until 3:30 - then to airport to return car (I will have to have a car to pull this off)
The Harmony Barber Shop thing is hard to explain...But basically the guys from All About the Mouse have been helping raise money for GKTW and it was my idea for the host, Bryan, to get his hair done at Harmony Barber Shop (with color and pixie dust) to benefit GKTW. To date they have raised over $1100 to support this cause. And have challenged ME to get MY hair done, too...if they can reach $2000 - which I have no doubt they will. And I have said I WILL do this. :( I don't want to let them down, too. :(
If I miss that weekend...then I miss this event altogether. :(
Money doesn't grow on trees...and this is going to cost me about $1000 to be there for two crazy, long, but good, days.
I am trying to decide if it is worth it?? Should I just make a donation to GKTW instead? And stay home? And maybe use that third day to get an earlier flight out for Rachel's trip?
Decisions. Decisions.

If you can swing the money, I would go for the weekend and then go back for Rachel's trip. Are you sure there isn't any way they would let you take that extra day? Maybe if you explain about the fundraising for GKTW and that you will be helping Rachel they would understand?
Good luck deciding! I also don't have any advice for the marathons. Just make sure you are saving plenty of days for the TC3 trip! I don't want to follow a PTR for over a year and then have the trip not happen! ;) We went in January before and did enjoy it but there are a lot of refurbs and there were a lot of tour groups.

Well...
Turns out some decisions are a lot easier than they appear. Especially when there are huge pieces of information that we are missing.
In this example...I am glad this all happened...even that I got the flu. Because I am not sure I would have realized what all I would be missing the weekend I was gone. Having to make this decision caused me to really investigate what I would miss that weekend.
We have a Christmas program at our church. It is called Best Gift. I go to a large church and our Christmas program is not just a small program...it is several hundred people in a large choir, live music, drama, dance, INCREDIBLE worship and an incredible youth portion with the full youth choir. We have to have 5 performances over one weekend to fit all of the people that come to see it (for free, of course!) (in a 2500 seat auditorium)...so it is a big deal!
I was IN Best Gift in 2005. Then they did it "on the road" in 2006 - and went to some areas torn up by Katrina. In 2007 Lauren got to be in it. We covered her wheelchair in blue LED lights that turned on and off and she was one of the stars of the show when she went out on stage with the "Blue Men Group" and "danced" in the pitch black with just her wheelchair outlined. She got a standing ovation. It was awesome.
It was VERY cool, if I don't say so myself!
In 2008 - it was again an "on the road" event.
So...now we are in 2009. And THAT weekend is THE weekend. Of the program.
And Lauren is a Junior. Which means...it is her last time to be in it. As they now do it every other year...one year at the church and the next "on the road"...
Which I can't miss. For anything. Disney. DAP. Even Harmony Barber Shop.
SO...I am happy to say...I am staying home for DAP so I can help with Best Gift and see Lauren perform!
I also talked to Rachel and her Mom last night. We had a great dinner at Outback Steakhouse! YUM!
Since I am not going to DAP - I now have three full days I can take off for our trip. So we are all going to leave on the same day...which means I get to just ride with them to Disney! I am so excited about that!
So...I can save my money....for my next adventure..........
Which...maybe I should start a new pre-trippie for...but I know I won't be able to keep up...so...let's just talk about it ... informally ... for a second.
I talked earlier this year about doing the Half Marathon. I got excited about it. I lost some weight. Then... I don't know what happened! But I lost my spunk. And got off track.
And ... Let's just say...I was...shocked. Stunned. Amazed. HORRIFIED. When I stood on the scale at the doctor's office.
So...I gotta get back on the wagon!
Since I saving all of this money for DAP (and even my Rachel trip)...I bought a treadmill yesterday. :thumbsup2 It is new. My old one was broken. I know me. I know that I am MUCH more likely to walk on my own treadmill than most anything else.
I went to a Team in Training walking training session very early this morning! They are all very nice. I walked 4 miles. From 0 to 4 miles...probably not a great idea. But I was excited to get started and I am behind on their training.
I have major blisters. Which I need to fix. But other than that....I am game.
To train.
For the Half.
In January!!!!!!
Whatcha think?

I'd love to be able to see your Church's production!! One day at a time - take God's hand, and see where He leads us!! :littleangel:
So now, you need to spend some time in my pre-trip report!! :rotfl2:
BTW - I redid my first posts - they make a bit more sense now!! :wizard:
so where are you staying? I vote for Pop in January! How long is your trip? How are you getting there? I vote for a plane - because I have to tell you - if you have blisters now, you might get a blister, and you might be sore Saturday Jan 9 - esp around noon!
Is anyone going with you?
not that I'm excited or anything...
and I LOVE how I posted eande's Shel's poem - and then you posted!! you did listen!! and then look what happened! ANYTHING CAN HAPPEN!!

You are so funny!
Ok... So... Do you want me to hijack your pre-trippie? Because I just can't do my own. Have way too many going.
I am doing this with Team in Training.
Which basically means three things...
1. I have a group to train with.
2. I have a ton of money to raise. (Which I will, of course, not be doing on the DIS!)
3. They make all travel arrangements.
We usually stay in a Mod. But that is about all I know. I will come on Wednesday and probably go home on Sunday...unless for some reason there are major things I don't want to miss and am willing to "spend" an extra day off for the Monday.

Please do hijack my pre trip report!! :cloud9: you'll bring life to it!!
Does Team in Training have a schedule? I've been posting my weekly schedule - you did your 4 miles today - I do my 4 miles tomorrow -
Will you set up a website for donations? You can ask the moderators on the dis if you can add a link for Team in Training, sometimes they let some people do this...
I forgot they make ALL travel arrangements!! Thats a GOOD thing!! When we went in '08 there were a lot of purple shirts (purple shirts = team in training! They are everywhere!) I think they stayed at POR! POR is really close to the start line!
I'm coming in on Thursday - and staying for a vacation after! On Monday there is a dismeet on the Boardwalk - in '08 we came in on Friday left on Monday - Monday was chilly! Downright cold with the wind!! We ate at the Boardwalk Bakery - then DH and I went and did the "mountains" EE, Rocknroller coaster, Space Mountain... before we had to go home!

Without being overly sappy I think
He listened.
YOU listened
and beautiful things happened.
which just seems, from what very little I know,
very
YOU.

I am so glad it all worked out in a way that you seem very happy and at peace with! It must be some Christmas program if you are happy to not be going to WDW! :rotfl:
I am so glad you will get to see Lauren and travel with Rachel and her mom. The January trip sounds good too! I am trying to get my butt in gear to lose some weight but right now with the move it is so hard. Just don't do too much training too soon - I don't want you to get sick again!

Hmm....
Let me think on this...
You do win something.
Do you know TK? TarsansKat?
She makes these cool shirts...how about one for each member of your family?
They are tie dye with Mickey heads...like the one I had on that magical morning?

I'm glad you've come to peace with the decision to stay back and do the Christmas show. I know it'll be great and uplift many. I'd love to see it myself!
I need to have something exciting enough going on at home to not want to go on a spring break trip. Jill and I are thinking about meeting up with some other DIS friends in Atlanta to see Mary Poppins, so maybe with that and if I can think of one other 'consolation prize', I can be strong and hold out until the summer trip. Maybe we could do a long weekend in Gatlinburg, since we haven't done that in forever. Financial responsibility is not fun sometimes. :sad2:
As soon as this knee heals, I'm going to be walking again, too. Maybe the next time we meet at the hippo, we'll be all fit and toned! :thumbsup2
Good luck in all of your efforts to help so many people in so many ways. You are a special lady!

Wow, you have had a lot going on....
Glad you are feeling better, I think you made the right decisions :thumbsup2
And way to go on the half marathon :woohoo::dance3::cheer2: I was suppose to do the princess half, but have decided to wait a year... but with that brought about other races for me to do... I'm doing a 5k for Autism next week, a walk for Autism next month, and haven't decided if I'll be doing a 5k or 1/2 marathon in December for St. Jude Children's Hospital.
BTW, did you know there is going to be a Make a Wish event in Memphis the end of this month. I think tickets are $50 and all proceeds go to the Make a Wish foundation, they talked about it at our church since we are so close.
Can't wait to see your trip plans, and read the rest of the trip you just took popcorn::

Me too!!!! I love the float. It is so refreshing on a hot day. Before I even knew about the DIS, my mother and just happened on Aloha Isle one day and decided to try them. My DS was konked out in his stroller, and she and I convinced my husband we "needed" to try these.
It was instant love.
Little did I knew a couple of years later I'd belong to an internet message board where they were praised with reverence reserved for the likes of...well...Jack Sparrow. ;)
