I was surfing the channels tonight and saw this new TV show. Anybody ever see it? It's got a bunch of young singers all apparently competing to be the best. Some of them are pretty good. They have this panel of judges, but I only knew one of them - Paula Abdul, who I thought was pretty much a has been. I have no clue who the others are. One is even an English guy who's kind of a wise guy and apparently didn't have time to get dressed for the show since he was still in his T shirt. Not really sure how any of them are really qualified to pass judgement, except maybe Paula who I think maybe once made a living singing. They had a guest appearance by this guy Ruben who could sing okay, but I think some of the others are better, and everybody seemed to know him but I have never heard of him before so he can't be very famous. I am pretty sure there is a new attraction at Disney Studios like this show so it looks like they got the idea for this show from Disney. Thieves. Anyway, I got bored with it and switched over to a Batman movie. I don't think this show will ever really amount to much.

I watched the first season, and was really into it. Then i started only watching the 'audition' episodes of ALL the seasons that followed. This year my daughter is really interested in watching it. I'm guessing because she heard all the kids talking about it at school. Although I have to admit, there are like 4 episodes on the DVR that we haven't watched yet.

The guy in the T-shirts, well watching this season I believe his heart has softened up a bit! If this is your first time seeing him....you should've heard him YEARS ago!!

Jim-

I think I saw the same show you are talking about.

But, it was last week, on Tuesday night. I thought that it was a remake of the Gong Show. But, the only problem was, there was no Gong! And, boy did they need one! I saw a guy (at least I think it was a guy) dressed in leather and looking like a cross between a vampire and a trannie, sing a country song. And then a girl with tattoos, and a girl with a scarlet-colored fright wig, sing. I think the point of the show was for them to sing a badly as they could so the Englishman could insult them. It was a very interesting concept. Instead of Chuck Barris they had some effeminate man as the host. And, they were missing Gene, Gene, the dancing machine and the Unknown Comic, but I thought this show might have potential.

The weird thing is that when I tuned in on Tuesday of this week to watch it again, that new African American comedian who was on Jay Leno last week (you know, the one who cracked on the Special Olympics) was on. I don't know the guy's name, but I'm sure you know who I am talking about- I have seen him on TV and in the newspapers quite a bit lately. The thing I don't get about this comedian is that he is not very funny. In fact, he kind of scares me. He certainly is no Richard Pryor or Eddie Murphy. Or even Nipsey Russell. Or Flip Wilson. Anyway, I thought that new show you saw was already cancelled, and that they replaced it with this comedian.

Now, you are telling me that the new show was on again?

How do these networks expect us to keep up with this?

And, I don't know anything about a version of this show at Disney World. You must have bad info. Disney would never stoop so low as to plan an attraction around amateur singers attempting to entertain folks who paid 75 bucks to get into their theme park. That is crazy talk!

I, for one, enjoy American Idol! It reminds me of a twisted Ted Mack Amateur Hour. I'll bet Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood & Chris Daughtry like American Idol, too!

The best part are the auditions! I can't believe there are so many people out there who actually think they can sing well enough to achieve stardom! :scared1:

LOL! Oh you missed the best part of American Idol, the try-outs! This happens before the real show starts, but it's hillarious. The show travels the country (this year they even went to Puerto Rico) and that same panel of judges have people sing for them. Those they like go on to Hollywood Ca., those they don't well I for one enjoy watching them making total jack-***'s of themselves and boy are their usually some dozzies! LOL!

After that I kinda just check in to see who's still in the running. I have been watching the show for what 4 or 5 saesons now? So, I'm a bit over it all now, hence I don't watch the whole show anymore.

Hey , I've seen that comedian your talk'n about !! The networks must REALLY like him cause theres not a day go by that he's not doing his stand-up. And your right,,HE REALLY NEEDS NEW MATERIAL, cause his current stuff really sucks. I haven't laughed once.
Maybe if he used a telepromter, he would be funnier?? Naah, he'd still suck.

Actually Paula is the least of any of them who should be juding. Her real job was a Dance Choreographer but then she had a 1 hit single that made her an expert to be a judge I guess. I don't watch it like I use to do the first couple of seasons. Now I TIVO it and skip through all the drama and the crap.

I think Tatiana should win!:scared1:
