Could use some help. Did not get ADR to Tuskerhouse - now what?

Hi all:

This board has been amazing to read and I have learned so much, but I could now use some help/suggestions.

I was able to book my ADRs this morning as we are arriving on June 24th. We have the basic meal plan. I had everything planned out (as so many of us do) and got most of what I wanted, but did not get Tuskerhouse Character breakfast which was supposed to be our very first meal in the park!!!

I would love some suggestions as to what to do now. Our plan was to eat at Tuskerhouse at 8am (before the park opens) and then head right to the safari and then continue on with our day in AK. We are a group of 11, which includes 4 kids ages 1,5,5, & 8.

Here are the rest of our reservations:

6/26 - Tonys Townsquare at 6:40pm
6/27 - Hollywood & Vine Character meal at 11:40am; 5:50pm at Teppan Edo
6/28 - 50s Prime Time Cafe at 6pm
6/29 - CRT at 12:05; CM at 5:30pm

We planned to pay for CRT out of pocket since we are all not going - just the girls, so I need one more TS anyway. Where should we go if want to spend 6/25 in AK....or should I switch everything around?!?!?!

Did you try for Tuskerhouse for lunch or dinner that day? We've been there for dinner and really liked the food & service (which is not a character meal, though) I think you might be able to get a Nemo show/lunch package at Tuskerhouse?

Tried for both breakfast and lunch. I did not ask about dinner because we were really wanting a character experience for our first meal, though now I guess that doesn't matter much. The thing is we were planning on eating dinner at DTD that night. Thank you for your suggestion, though. It was a bit frustrating because I got through right at 7am this morning but their systems were working so slow and my CM was a bit on the slow side that it took almost 20 minutes just to get our first two reservations for CM and CRT, that by the time we got to the third one it was all booked!!!

We like to go to Boma. We schedule an early dinner 4:30-5pm and take the bus from AK to AKL. It works out perfect b/c we are normally done with AK around that time and we leave right after the parade ends. The food is so different and delicious and something for everyone. When we get there at that time it is still light out to see the animals and check out the resort.

Maybe you can book like the other posters are suggesting, and keep trying for Tusker breakfast. Ya never know what may open up. Now, this may sound crazy, but since you have a large party, maybe you can ask for a table for 5 or 6 if it's open and keep trying to call back and get another table for 5 or 6. Let them know that while it's separate ressies, your group is together and you should be able to be seated near/together when arriving. Just a thought. :confused3

It's not AK, but since you qualify as a grand gathering, you might try the Good Morning character breakfast at Tony's in the MK, and drop the Tony's dinner in favor of something else unless you want to go back a second time (for admittedly a much different meal). Possibly do the safari dinner GGE at AK instead? (Though that's a 2 TS credit GGE as opposed to Tony's, which is 1 TS.)

I had the same disappointment; the only time they had was 9:30, and I wanted to enter the park early and then hit the safari. I called back later and took a 11 am at Yak and Yeti; I figured I'd do some rides and then take a cool break in the a/c which is always appreciated at AK. I'm getting excited about seeing Yak and Yeti; the food at Tusker House wasn't the reason I wanted to eat there, so going later didn't make sense.

Thanks for the suggestions. I did call back today and was able to get a reservation at Tuskerhouse for 11:50 for lunch. I took it even though it is not what I wanted - at least I have something booked. The reason we wanted to go there was for the characters. I did not look into Grand Gatherings at all - actually did not know we qualify.....are they worth it???? I am going to look into these other options too - I was not sure about Boma - if that would suit everyone's tastes, but I LOVE the idea of getting there early and maybe seeing some animals, then we can head over to DTD afterwards. Lots to think about. Thanks, everyone.
