We are planning to go to WDW in mid-July. What are the best car rental deals that you know of? We'll need it for about 11 days.

We are going in about a week and will be renting a car. After checking various rates and discounts we decided to try Hotwire. They ask you what you want, how long you'll need it and then give you the best price.

We liked the price they quoted (about $75 less than any other quote) and accepted the deal. They then inform you which company you'll get the car from. We got Avis, which is onsite at MCO airport.

Try dollar.com. Dollar Rent a Car is located onsite at Orlando Airport (MCO). Are you renting from the airport? It is located right outside of baggage pickup at MCO. If you go to there web site, try these different codes in the promo code box to see which one gives you the best rate; MCC, FVG or FISH. Try them all to see which one is best on whatever car you want to rent. Good Luck!

I agree. Dollar has the best rental car rate. The MCC code was one of the cheapest rates about two weeks ago. I booked two weeks ago using code GMF2910. I got a minivan for $209/wk. Unfortunately, it's not working anymore. Try calling them and asking if those two codes are still valid at 1-800-423-4704. I think they were good for all types of cars.

The code GMF2910 is from Florida Tickets, Inc. and I heard a short time ago they were going out of business, but their web site is still up and running. I would call Dollar directly to see if they are still honoring that code. I canceled my reservation using GMF code and used a different code. Just didn't want problems at the airport pick up.

We used this for our trip last summer, after finding very few "deals" with the major companies. I was a little worried at first, having never used Priceline before, but can honestly say that it was one of the most gratfying parts of our trip.

I bid $18.00 per day for a full sized car, fully expecting it to be rejected. (I had a back-up, fully cancellable ressie w/ Alamo, just in case!) It was accepted by Hertz, and we were extremely pleased. We were even more pleased when we were upgraded to an SUV (a Mitsubishi Montero), as they had run out of full-sized cars. What a deal!

I'm not sure if this type of deal is always available. I do know that there are often more cars than customers in Florida, and that the companies will compete for your business -- you just have to know how to play the game.

For this July, I use FISH for Dollar. $121 for a week, compact car, which is the cheapest I have gotten on site. I may go back and try Priceline though.

I think it is worth going with Priceline. I got a convertible for about the same price as a midsize. Do your homework though and make sure you know the going rate for your car. Also, don't plan on using any "free" upgrade coupons if you book on priceline.

My biggest advice is to book the size car you need! If you have a family of 4 or 5 you are NOT going to fit is an economy and it can cost you A LOT to upgrade at the last minute. (I know the guides say that you will probably get upgraded, but in Orlando I am not sure that is as true. They have large fleets and lots of smaller cars.)

I tried Priceline.com for $5 less a day than what I have at Dollar. I guess I priced too low, plus Orlando is busy at the end of June. Priceline didn't accept my offer.

I called Dollar, and they said they would accept my GM code. They even faxed a confirmation to me. Dollar turned out to be the best deal for me.:Pinkbounc

I do short email surveys online with erewards, which is through Hilton and Hertz and some other big travel comapnies and you can earn certificates for travel there. They send an email and you answer like two questions and you get between .35-1.00 per email u answer, its the easiest thing and in no time I earned enough to get a $25.00 off Hertz certificate, you just need 25.00 to qualify for rewards.
