We are planning our first trip ever to WDW and I recently purchased some pins from ebay. After receiving the pins I found info on this board concerning fake pins. I checked pinpics and at least half of my pins were reported to be nable to authenticate due to knock offs from China and 2 specifically met the criteria for being fake. I e-mailed the seller concerning this and she stated that she has rack pins and that she will trade me back the questionable pins. What are rack pins and is it more likely that these will be legitimate. I am really not sure what to do.
Thank you

Rack pins are pins you can buy off the rack at the Disney parks. Many times when I purchase in lots I ask for all rack pins, a few times I've received scrapped rack pins but in general I have good luck with the rack pins. If that resolution is acceptable to you please do it, if not let her know you'd prefer a refund and you will return the pins to her. Did you leave feedback yet? If not please leave feedback stating you received scrappers but the seller was willing to work with you. Good luck!!

If you get scrappers from eBay, can you still trade them at the parks? Scrappers still have the "Disney ears" emblem on the back, don't they?

That's a moral question really. As a trader I am very upset when we get scrappers from CMs, most CMs don't even know they are bad pins. Most of the times the CMs will accept them but then they get passed on to some other trader or their kids and that's not really fair. That's why it's not a question I can answer for you, but one that you should ask yourself. How would you feel if you gave a good pin away and got something inferior in exchange.

I would contact the seller and ask for a refund on the questionable pins..I bought pins from someone and one of the pins wasn't even released yet! She sent me a refund and I threw the pin away.
