I've used TTC 3 times in the past, but wanted to save a little money this time, so am using Mears for transfers. I've never used them before. Do you tip the driver? If so, what is an acceptable amount?
Thanks!

We used Mears last year, and I just wondered why would I tip the driver. (not meant in a bad way, I am just curious) My DH basically took the luggage to him and he placed it in the luggage space, Then he took it out of the luggage space and put it 2 feet over on a curb. So he did not really handle our luggage in any real way. He drove on an route, like your city bus. Our stop was 3rd. He didn't have any commentary on the trip or anything personal that seemed to demand a tip. I don't object in theory to the tip, but just wondered what service the driver gives that the 40 dollars doesn't pay for. respectfully, kim

Thank you both! We'll only have 2 bags, (besides our carryons, which we'll hold onto), so $1/bag doesn't sound bad! I guess I'll just see what others are doing, and act accordingly!

IMHO Even though it may not be within the driver's control, I still think it is fair to tip based on how expeditious and comfortable your overall experience was, on an absolute scale.

I have always tipped the Mears shuttle driver $1.00 a bag but I have also seen many people not tip the driver. It is really up to you.

The one time we did use Mears, about 1 1/2 years ago, the driver brought up the subject of tipping, and how its customary to tip service providers 10% and that he considers himself a service provider (or words to that effect). I was amazed at his boldness.
