Here are a few Wilderness Lodge Pictures that I took while on a recent stay there...:)
We had a Courtyard View Room #4013 and I loved it...We viewed the Pool each morning and watched the ducks swim! LOL...Here are a few shots of our view!
This was to the far Right of the balcony...

These next ones are of the pool...The WL, in my opinion, has the best pool because it is so warm!! As you can see, the Ducks loved the warm water as well!

GREAT pictures Beanie, that brough back a flood of memories. WL was my first Deluxe resort and since then I am spoiled. That first initial sight when you drive up the road to the front door was breathtaking. I am trying the Poly and BWI this time, I'll end up again at WL at some point, it is a gorgeous resort.:)

Wow! Your pics of WL are magnificient!!! We are staying there in August--I can't wait. It is good to hear positives about the pool-I know we will be using it a lot with the heat.
I also loved the pictures of AKL you posted yesterday--We drove up to the the lodge in Jan. while my DS was napping in the car. We didn't go in, now I wish we had! The front of the lodge doesn't begin to convey how beautiful the inside is in your pictures. They were the best shots that I had seen of the lobby!
thank you!
I am already plotting a Jan. visit to AKL!

Beautiful pictures, Beanie. WL looks like a very pretty resort. Do the ducks bother the guests, esp. in the pool? Thanks for sharing!

Patio...Not to worry about the ducks...as soon as you go near them, they will fly away! LOL...It is funny though to watch them land in the pool...they make such a splash...One night DH and I were walking down by the pool and it was really late, like 2 in the morning and there was a Mother duck in the pool with 6 little babies following behind her...as soon as we passed them, they all got out of the pool and laid on the deck!! LOL...It was so cute and I wish I had my camera then!! :)
Glad you all like the pictures, WL is one of my favorites and I loved staying there!! :)

beanie. your pictures are great.... Your room location was great... That is exactly what I am hoping for. Did you request any location??? Were you on the fourth floor? Did you think the stairs were a pain to go up and down??Were there stairs located at the end of the wing?? thanks again for those great pictures.... How long was the pool and pool bar open?? corvair

Corvair...Yes, we were located on the 4th floor...when we made reservations, we asked for a courtyard view, so when we checked in, the CM said there was a room with a view of the Villas/trees or a room with a view of the pool...she then proceeded to tell us the room with the view of the pool was a great view, one of the best, so it didn't take us long to decided which one! LOL
As for stairs, we didn't use any stairs...we walked out our door, took a left and walked maybe 6 doors up and there were the elevators...they went to the 1st floor right around the corner from Roaring Fork...If we wanted to go to the pool, we just walked out by there, never once going near the lobby! :) It really was the perfect room for us!! :)
The pool and bar were open until 12:00 midnight while we were there...I am sorry I do not know when they opened though...I believe it was around 7 or 8, but don't quote me on that! LOL

Thank you so much for the pictures. Being able to see a resort is a wonderful addition to hearing all the great things about it.
A picture is worth a thousand words!

Hi. Your pictures looked great. I was curious though as to which wing you were in, was it the north wing or south wing? I'm planning my trip but I want a room across the other side with more of a view of the lake.

Onlyme...Not sure about North or South, but if I was looking at the outside of the Wilderness Lodge, standing in front of the lobby, we were located on the left side....:) Hope that helps...:)

Corvair...I am sorry, I do not know what they serve there, aside from Chips and Beer as I could see them! :) I tried to find a menu with no luck, sorry!
Jademm...You need to download your pictures to your computer from your camera and then you need to get a hosting site like www.boomerweb.com which will host your pics for free...Once you get an account with a hosting place, you need to upload your pictures to that hosting site and then you will be able to post them on here! :)

Beanie, I am truly enjoying your great photos! Thanks for posting. We are hopefully spending 3 nights there this July( if parents can join us) we have 2 standard rooms booked, 1 bb and 1 Q....This is my parents 1st ever on site stay, and most likely their last. They are 80 and cannot travel much anymore. Anyway, we are breaking the budget as it is to do this and a standard is the best we can afford as we will be paying for 2 rooms. I am trying to avoid my parents hearing beeping trucks or basically any undesireable view. Can you help me out at all? I have read and re-read the WL facts thread but am still confused. The resort looks so awesome that I wish we had more time and $!
TIA!
Pam

Finfan...My only suggestion is to ask for a comp upgrade when you check in...Maybe they will give you a courtyard view? I don't really know, but I do know alot of people who have asked and they received one...My pictures are Courtyard view and I must say it was one of the best views we have had...but like I said, I would ask and if they can't maybe ask them for one of the better standard view rooms?
The first time we ever stayed on property was at the WL and we booked a standard room (of course I never knew about the DIS back then! LOL) We had a view of the parking lot and smoke house...It wasn't really all that bad...we had wonderful smells drifting up to our room everyday and it wasn't noisy or anything, but just not what I want to view anymore! LOL...
So maybe just ask if they have a standard room that has one of the better views? All you can do is ask, right? I hope they give you one!! :)

Beanie:
I too think that the Wilderness Lodge is beautiful. My DH and I absolutely love Artist Point and really love taking a walk around the Lodge before and after dinner. The only reason we shy away from staying there is a "disconnected feeling" from all the other resorts. I also realize that is specifically the reason people love to stay there!!!!!!
Having said that.... can you take a boat from the Wilderness to other resorts such as Contemporary or the Polynesian, Grand Floridian???
That would help with those of us who do not need that dis-connected feeling !!!!
Do you remember which stops the boat made?
Thanks
Beanie
06-10-2002, 05:19 PM
IAMaGR8DISMOM...Yes, you can take a boat to the other resorts on the Lake...I believe the boat stops at all the resorts on the lake including Fort Wilderness...you can also take a separate boat to the Magic Kingdom as well, which was really cool! :) I think I find the WL secluded, yes, but not too far from MK, which is my kids favorite park...
One night while we were there, we took a boat over to the Contemporary to eat at Chef Mickeys and on the way back to the WL later on, we hit a lightening storm, which made for beautiful video footage!!
Have a wonderful time staying there, I want to go back already!! :)

Thanks for the suggestion Beanie...I will ask for a comp. upgrade when we check in. It will also be my 40th the day we check in so maybe wearing my MK b-day button will help...I sure don't want to count on anything(especially since it is the week of July 4th) but am hoping for my folks sake. I will keep my folks prepared for the beeping trucks just in case tho!
