Oh I nearly had a heart attack. I thought I was going to get free dining because I booked through CAA - but I'm going in May.

I talked to my CAA TA yesterday and she said to call back next week. This is even more promising. Has anyone else got a Canadian email???

Can I ask how substantial the savings are that you get by booking through CAA? Is it worth the membership fee just to try and save money at Disney?

You can get between 10% - 20% off the room only. The tickets are discounted, literally, a few dollars.
Last year we stayed 14 nights at POP with the CAA discounted room. We saved around $175. You can easily save the membership cost on a 3-4 night stay.
In the past the FD offers have required that you pay rack rate for the room.

We've booked at POP 2 years in a row at the CAA rate. Both times was during value season, the week after Thanksgiving (U.S). it saved us a nice amount...I think we paid $80/night???

Hi,
I am thrilled there is free dining in August!!! Here we come! Caa membership is definately worth it. We have an "a la cart membership" no roadside but all the rest of caa benefits. If you are driving you can get free maps and coupons, many stores and restaurants give a 10-20% discount with caa. There are also other perks when you book through caa--free parking, fireworks veiwing area and storytime with a princess. I think our membership is less than 40.00 a year.

In the past discounts could not be applied to the free dining...does the BONUS imply that it may be different this year?

It won't only be available to CAA members....it will be available to everyone. You don't have to book through CAA, you can use an TA, for your own sanity make sure it is a disney specialist.

I paid $64 for my membership, but they also give you a coupon for $50 off your first vacation booked through them. So I count it as paying 14.00. Since Disney had a deal on rooms, I saved nothing by booking with them (and tickets are cheaper at the Disney store) but for $14 I was able to have them make all the calls to Disney instead of me doing it - plus I already used it someplace else to save 10.00 off a hotel stay. I probably won't do it again, at least not in years when I'm not planning a trip but I'll end up breaking even anyway.
Its just too bad that the CAA deal couldn't be on top of the Disney deals.

I just talked to my CAA agent and she has me at the top of her list for a call to Disney on Monday morning to try and lock us in for Free Dining. :)
Hopefully she can find a FS at ASMu for us, otherwise, off to connecting rooms we go.
Has anything been announced to the general public as of yet (I always come to the Cdn board first...)??
My CAA agent said that the CAA discount CANNOT be applied to your package. You do still get the other CAA perks though. Have others heard the same thing?

I had CAA and free dining the first 2 summers it was out. I got the CAA dicount on the room price as well as the free dining. The only way to do it was to go through a CAA travel agent though. I am hoping it is the same this year.

Don't think so...you cannot stack discounts and even the "normal" CAA room discount. Free Dining means rack rate...that is why most people like to go to a value resort with FD.

That remains to be seen. The OP is saying this is something for CAA members.
Until this deal is made public know one knows what it's all about.

Not unless they are traveling with you. There has to be one person on the ressie with a membership. They will tell you that you must be prepared to show the membership card at check in.

Firsttimedisneydad, I did do it in 2006 and 2007 could not go in 2008. The TA said you could do it if you went trough a CAA TA and I did. I checked the math and the bill and I did get the value 15% off room AAA discount for a value resort and free dining. Maybe not this time because I have 4/3 booked and she could not stack but she has for free dining two different times. Good luck to all in the next week for free dining.

I only meant that I received notification via an email from my local CAA travel agent - not that it was CAA exclusive. Sorry for the confusion. :flower3:

If you just book rooms with CAA (Disney) can you use the $50 for first time bookings?
Many Thanks

CAA does book flights but they offer no discounts, and in fact charge you a booking fee. It's far cheaper to book your own flight online.
As for the dining plan, I just booked my August trip to Disney with my DW a few days ago and our travel agent didn't say anything about it. We opted for the free 3 day promotion they have going on. In the end, free dining would have been the better option...
If this is legit through all CAA's, I hope i'll be able to switch.

No kidding! Sorry to be OT but maybe others can benefit. We're going at Christmas but we booked our own package with Disney and found our own flights. The WJ Vacations package came out about $2500 CDN higher than what we're paying.:scared1: I also do not like the way they don't give you a breakdown of what air costs, room price, etc. It's just all lumped into one quote.
