We curruntly hold annual passes. We are visiting the parks in July when the passes are still active, then we will be going on a cruise. We were going to stay in Orlando the day we return from our cruise and jumped on the AP deal at the Animal Kingdom Lodge. We made our reservation weeks ago, but I just realized today that our APs will be expired by that date (they expire a couple days before).

When we check in will they notice that our APs have expired?

If so could we purchase new APs at the Disney store and show them the voucher without activating them?

We use our annual passes for 2 years so we do not want to activate the pass this year as we would only be getting one day out of it.

Anyone know if having the voucher at check-in would work, or do we need the actual AP?

Thanks so much for any advice -- we truly appreciate it.

You are supposed to have it but I have never been asked to see it. I do however have one so you may get away with it you may not.

The CM's are very inconsistent about asking to see the AP at check in but some do. You may not have a problem, then again you may. Some accept an AP voucher, some do not.

It's a really tough call due to the "Carousel of Policy" that Disney goes by. If I were in your shoes and could afford it, I would get one AP voucher from TDS just to be safe. But even if you didn't, your worst case scenario would be renewing just one of your passes at WDW. You only need one to get the AP discount.

The AP discounts are only for people who have AP's. Since you will not have current AP's at the time of your trip, you aren't entitled to the discount.
