My favorite Uncle passed away

I've spent the last three weeks taking the train into NYC on my day off to help with my Uncle's recent health issues. (He was first in a hospital then transferred to a facility for therapy.) Sadly, he passed away last night.

It was a lot sooner than any of the Doctors anticipated but it's really for the best.

It's funny, when I left him on Friday, I went over and said "let me kiss your little bald head". At that moment, the thought "this is going to be the last time you see him" flashed through my mind.

My Uncle was a "bachelor" and his nieces and nephews were all he had left. I met my sister today and we picked up his personal belongings, found some of his important papers and made the funeral arrangements.

He drove us all crazy but I'm going to miss him. :sad1:

You were the first person to care enough to send me your kind words. I just wanted to let you know how sorry I am to hear of your uncle passing away. He was very blessed to have nieces and nephews who cared so much about him. My prayers are with you.

It's been a sad few days. It was nice to hear his friends/neighbors comments about what a gentle and kind man he was.

He was the last sibling on my Dad's side. It's very hard to lose the final link to that generation of family. :sad1:
