Its my understanding that if two people are dining and u order an appeteizer or dessert for two then thats the appeteizer or dessert part of both peoples meal
I guess if you're alone (like i'll be the first few days) then those desserts are just off limits :confused3

yes you can do that...we got the dessert sampler tray at Grand Floridian Cafe as a "dessert for 2" option. Was wonderful way to try all 4 goodies there.

Please do yourself (and all of us on the boards) a favor, and ask your server about this. I think it's a shame Disney has reduced the options in their favor by directing two people to blow their app or dessert choices on one dish. If you are a single diner, see if you can get the onions rings at Sci-Fi or the brownie sundae at Yak & Yeti all for yourself. You know they could make a smaller portion. I'd love to hear their explanation against this.

Sci fi is actually the one that i'm a little upset about, I know i'm going to want an order of onion rings but i've planned DHS for one of the days before my mom gets there :confused3 I read in another Dining review that they did it for a cobb salad at HBD but gave the person a hard time , and i've been planning to have restaurants with the something for two that I may want when my mom does get there-she's forfeitting her appeteizer or dessert choice she just doesn't know yet :rotfl:and I think Sci-Fi is the only definite upset still, Jiko is a maybe
i've worked in restaurants I know that it not hard to just do half a portion especially for stuff like onion rings and salad  the brownie may be harder because most times desserts are premade but still not impossible, the GF dessert probably wouldn't be possible since its mini portions
I don't want to make too big a deal out of it though I am going to be in WDW afterall!:yay:

I love Tutto Italia, but I know I was not allowed to order the antipasto platter there when I ate there solo last year. I specifically asked if I could order a smaller version of it with just a few meats and cheeses on it and was told no.

I also don't like the fact that they do this. I am not a single diner as DH is usually with me but the two of us do not like to eat the same things....our taste are very different. Many of the things that I would like are on the Appetizers/Desserts for 2. So either I forgo orddering what I like or I have to "force" DH to eat what I want (or vice versa).

Just got back... in general, we were able to do just this -- order a "for 2" item using both adult entitlements that we had. However, our waitress at Sci Fi Dine In specifically told us we could get the onion rings (for 2) and still order another appetizer which we did. Everything still zeroed out at the end.
Also, for those who have been asking, DxDP does not seem to separate credits by adult/child. Instead of 42 adult / 21 child, we had a pool of 63 total credits.

interesting.. so if my 5 year old wants something off the adult menu I can just say he has the same disease as Benjamin Button is really 80 and get him the meal he wants :rotfl:

No, because the card still says 2 adult / 1 child on it. But you could, in theory, pay OOP for your child and use the extra credit somewhere else. Personally, I'd consider that abusing the plan, and we took great care to make sure we used the right numbers of each type of credit.

lol I was so joking 1. because my kid likes all of the stuff from the kid menu some of the kid menu stuff I want like the small fruit appeteizers! 2. who in their right mind would believe my kid had the same disease as Benjamin Button?! :rotfl:
plus if someone starts trying to abuse something I think it will catch up to them eventually
