Well on one of the other threads, one person reported that their AAA agent said they would rebook their package with free dining when it comes out 4/6-4/9. I know that others will be critical since it didn't come from an inside source but it was a good enough glimmer of hope for me...:thumbsup2

I was hoping for more rumors soon too. :(

I just can't imagine that Disney won't offer Free Dining again in these economic times, so we'll just have to keep waiting and hoping.

Just got off the phone with my CAA travel agent. She talked to marketing and they said next week they would know for sure but they felt it would start Aug. 16. That works perfectly for me.:wizard:

That makes sense because I received a pin number starting that date for free dining several weeks ago. We are going Aug. 17-19 !!!
We are also leaving this Sunday for 3 days for my birthday!! I can't seem to stay away.:rotfl:

There is still nothing on the Disney Visa site. From what I understand, it is offered to credit card members first.

Anxiously awaiting here as well. Hopefully they'll do either the free dining or extend the 4/3 deal (both would be even better :lmao:)

I figure if they do the free dining, we'll stay moderate (POR) again - which would be the best deal. If they extend the 4/3, I'm thinking about the Fort Wilderness cabins.... Either way, just want a deal!!:worship:

There won't be anything on the Disney Visa site until the day it comes out. The code will most likely appear on Mousesavers and here on the DIS before Visa puts it up.

How in the world does the Dis and Mousesavers get the info before the Disney Visa website??? Or is that strictly confidential? lol

OMG I really really hope you are right! If Free Dining starts Aug 16 (which just happens to be my week off work) then we are going to Disney. Otherwise no trip as this was not "a plan" until now...LOL.

I am hearing some places the rumours are Aug 23 and I really hope that is wrong.

Travel Agents get the info before the public and it usually gets leaked and it just snowballs from there.

I was lucky enough to receive a pin code for free dining...

I agree with OP, in years past by now there seemed to be a buzz all over the boards, mousesavers and UG regarding free dining. IMO, I do believe Disney will definitley offer it.:)

This is what I've found on Intercot, in a thread started yesterday:

Just checked the uk website for disney offers and found out that the value resorts are not included in the free dining this year. The moderate resorts are for the counter service plan and the deluxe/villa accommodations will have the TS plan.

I would assume the same would apply for the u.s.

I would not assume that - the bounceback offer and pin code offers for free dining here included the basic (TS) dining plan and was offered for all resort categories.

The UK offer is always different to the US offer and that does not apply to the general public offer that will be coming out in April.

I agree...last year it was a similar plan for the UK and the same as always here.

I'm hoping they announce soon. My trip depends on it :(

Can someone explain to me exactly what the Free Dining plan is? I have booked 5 nights at All Star Sports from 8/31 to 9/5 and got a military discount. Would I even be eligible?

The free dining plan in the past has been the regular Disney Dining Plan (1 table service meal, one counter service meal, one snack per person per night - not day - of your trip).

I don't see any reason you would not be eligible if it is like it has been in the past. You might possibly have to give up your military discount, but I'll bet you would come out ahead with the free dining if you do.

I saw a post somewhere that mentioned possibly 3/26 for a release date for Disney VISA and 3/31 for General Public. I emailed my TA to see if she has heard anything like that. Waiting to hear from her.

We are going 8/23-8/29 and are booked on the 40% PIN right now but would like to move to FD if possible.

I am enjoying all the speculation and rumors. Here's hoping for Free Dining or some other fantastic discount. :cool1:

I would have thought, though, that since Disney offered the 4/3 deal for peak season, that the free dining offer would be "enhanced" to attract more people for the off-peak season. Like Free Dining plus room discounts, Free Dining plus 4/3, Free dining plus park ticket upgrades, etc.

But hey, I will take what I can get....

I have no plans in the works for a trip, but all the excitement around FD makes me want to go ahead and just plan one anyways. I asked my husband already and was shot down, but it doesnt hurt to book in case he can be convinced!

Since 2005, Disney has been offering the Free Dining promo for Magic Your way packages with a 3 night minimum and a 14 day maximum (Basic Dining Plan; 1 TS, 1 CS, 1 Snack per person per night) during the last part of August until the end of September, give or take a few days. The free dining offer is usually announced during the first week of April. The first couple of days it will only be open to Disney Visa holders and then will open up to the general public. The booking dates for 2008 for the general public were August 24 through September 20 and you had to book by June 22 to receive the FD offer. The speculated (is that a word?) dates for this year are August 16 - September 30 and that the general public code will come out on March 30.

As for the military discount, typically you can not stack codes, you need to pick one or the other, never both. Someone on another thread reported that they were able to purchase the dining plan at a discount along with their military discount, but that offer had nothing to do with free dining. I woudl call Disney reservations and ask.

FINALLY!! I realize it's just a rumor but I was growing a tad concerned there was absolutely no rumors out there as I am sure there was last year at this time.
Thanks:)

Now the question is--do I book the flight? Airtran has deals, but they end on March 26--why do they do this to us? 4 days before fd?

any idea if/when Disney Visa holders will be able to book free dining? I know last year it was a few days earlier than the public; I saw it here and on Mousesavers, but never received any emails from Disney Visa so I know I can't rely on them to let me know. I haven't seen anything on this board about an earlier FD release date for Disney Visa holders

JerseyJanice

Now this is the kind of rumor I've been wanting to see.

If it's true (knock wood with crossed fingers), we'll be able to book a full week ahead of last year's booking dates. The sooner I can book, the better for choosing our flights. :)
