We've been members since 93. Since then, we've invited 46 different family and friends as our guests at OKW. That's right 46 different people.Believe it or not, we returned from SSR today, completing our FIRST EVER solo trip, just me and DW.I gotta say we had a blast. Everything about the trip went perfect, not one little thing went wrong. I guess all that good will payed off because the room was great, the weather was perfect, the CMs were wonderful, and the food was outstanding. We decided before we left to make no requests and go with the winds of fate. Well the winds of fate put us in Congress Park in a 1BR looking out over the water. Fate also allowed us to eat at the Turf Club, Raglan Rd., Kona,Artist Point, and believe it or not, when I called and asked about availability at Le Cellier, I was told that there was just a cancellation and they could squeeze us in.Every meal was a first for us, and all were outstanding. As for what we did, ABSOLUTELY NOTHING, and it was GREAT!!!!! So great that we will be doing this on a yearly basis from here on out. I guess an addon is in the making. This will be our first addon since we added on in 93.As you can see I don't post that much, but I JUST HAD TO SHARE:) Thanks for reading:)

Sounds like you had a great trip! DW and I stayed at a studio at VWL in February of 08 for our first "just us" trip and had a super time as well. We pretty much did the same as you, just kind of cruised around. We did a handful of attractions and used every form of transportation Disney offers. I thinking our next solo trip will be early March 2010.

It's great to read your story! :goodvibes How nice that you've been "selfish" and had a trip all to yourselves ;)...something we're looking forward to sometime in the future.
The "non-park" trips that DH I have taken over the years have been the BEST.
What a joy! Glad you've experienced it firsthand. You'll never go back!:thumbsup2

Sounds like a very relaxing time! My only regret with DVC, that I didn't buy sooner just as you did in 1993!

Aww, congrats on a lovely solo trip for just you and DW! We're a couple with a 13MO DS so we have plans to take family and friends on many trips. This makes me want to plan on a HHI solo 4 day weekend in June in 2 years though for our 5 year Anni! Hope you continue to have wonderful yearly trips for just you and DW!

I would love to do a "just us" trip. I might have to lie to the kids and say Mom and Dad were going somewhere else!

I could get away with it with our two older kids ages 18 and 15 but not our youngest son age 10. I would feel so guilty probably. :guilty: One day...one day. I can dream right......:cloud9:

We were just having this conversation 2 days ago. I jokingly said that my DH and I would try to book a trip for the two of us and my DS9 got really upset :sad1:. He actually started tearing up at the thought of us going to WDW without them. To be honest, I wouldn't go without them while they are this young - I'd miss them and feel guilty, too, but that's just the way I am. I think it's because it's someplace we've always gone as a family. Now, a trip to the Bahamas by ourselves....that's something I could do guilt-free ;)

I feel the same............I could not go without my 10 year old. As they have gotten older....my two older ones would be fine though if we went without them. Our dd will be at college the end of Aug. so I see this happening sooner than later. :scared:

Perhaps your trip confirms the saying, "good karma begets good karma". I am glad you had a great trip. It sounds like you were entiled. :goodvibes

Alone trips are the best. I love going with other people and seeing Disney thru their eyes...BUT... When it is just me and my husband our trip are just so wonderful. No stress, we get to do what we want.
What a nice report! Glad you had such a nice trip-I think you had plenty of good karma in reserve! :) We bought DVC as empty-nesters and although DD and her husband have joined us once and will travel with us this summer, most of our trips have been just the two of us. Although we've had some lovely visits, I'm just DYING to have a grandchild to take along one day!

I'm glad the karma gods shined on you!! Although we have not nearly the experience and visits as you, I am surprising my DW with an adults only in Oct. I hoep you left a bit of that magic for us!!

DH and I will be spending a long weekend alone beginning on Thurs, and our DD who is a freshman in college is in a pout because we are going, even though we just took her in Jan and all she did was complain because we didn't race from ride to ride! :confused3

A prayer to the Disney/DVC gods.....PLEASE let our trip go just like this one! DH and I are headed down for our first REAL getaway without the kids, our first DVC stay, and certainly our first ever trip to Disney without the kiddos (well, since they were born anyway). We will be there for opening weekend at Kidani, and we'll be celebrating our 8th anniversary, and I am SOOOOOO hoping for a great weekend. We would love to have good weather, a good stay at Kidani, a lot of R&R, and just a great weekend of quality time as a couple. Just like YOUR trip!!!! Thanks for posting. It gives me high hopes!

We may have crossed paths GoofyDVC. We arrived at SSR (Paddocks) on Wednesday and left on Sunday as well. (By the way, checking in online does wipe out any room request you had made. The CM stated this was becoming a big issue). We too had a 'just us' trip to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. As you stated, weather was great and although the crowds were large, we were in no hurry and took our time to see what we wanted to see. Here's hoping everyone else doing a 'no-kids' trip has as great a time as we had.
