View Full Version : Room rate spike at CR (et al?) for '03

I just reserved a CR Tower room for Value season '03 at a rack rate (discounts aren't out yet) that seems way high--$360/night, up $35 from this year's rate, which was up just $5 from '01! (The CRO CM told me they were in the midst of inputting the '03 rates for CR, which won't appear on the WDW website for another day or two; several other WDW resorts have already been input, though I don't know if they're on the web yet.) This kind of price hike seem out of whack, especially these days? Is it merely a CM or computer error I'll be able to correct later on? (The system was partly down while Disney's webbies were updating the info.) Any inside dope would be appreciated (especially before I tell the DW;)).

Are you sure they gave you the rack rate for value season? One time when I booked my trip before the next year's rates were official, they booked me at the rack rate for the regular season. The logic is that they could change the seasons when they announce the rates for the new year, so they assume it will be the regular season.
I wouldn't worry about the rate right now. You should be able to find a discount and change it before you go.

I just received my confirmation today for POR and the February rate (offseason) has gone from $133 to $148 --- $15.00 seemed like a big jump for us too!!! Hope they get some codes before then.

Are you sure they didn't book you a Water View or King Bed because that would be a rate of 148.00 for Value season this year and someone else posted that they were told rates wouldn't be going up. ~~

A travel agent told me a few years back that WDW raises their rates about 10% each year. Maybe that's what happened.

Sorry for the confusion, I called DC today and was told that they held the rates the same as last year for the All stars and Moderate resorts. The deluxe prices are not out yet. My rate was higher based on a trundle bed, which they did not include in the price with the original reservation. They told me DC rates will not be available until July/August. The deluxe rates will be out around that time too.

Kermit, yes the CR assured me--twice--the rate is for value season despite that it's the same $ figure as '02's Regular season rate (but at the same time, he said the new rates were being input into the system literally as we spoke--ie., "no, the rate's not here yet--wait a minute, here it is....", that sort of thing). I guess I'm just disappointed that the rate (apparently) went up 10.7% given this economy, the travel industry's woes, and the fact that the same rate went up just 1.5% last year. I'd think they'd want to offer greater incentives these days, not less. Also, based on other postings, it seems as if new rates (or at least the info trickling out about them) are all over the map. Presumably it'll all get ironed out in time, but I wanted to make sure I got the ressie in my pocket now, then worry about the actual cost later.

Guess what! I just checked w/CRO, and the room rate I'd originally been quoted was unconfirmed and--yes--wrong. Turns out the CR has confirmed its '03 Tower Value season rate as $335/night, not $360 (making it a mere 3% rise over current rates and making any eventual discounts that much better). Looks like Uncle Walt is watching! :bounce:

Just received value rate of $77 plus change for Jan. 1 - 6, 2003. I know I can do better but am curious how this stacks up to last year.

Doesn't look like that increased at all, rack rate for standard view in Value resort during Value season 2002 was also $77 plus tax. ~:)~
