Just curious about this. There are states here in the US that won't allow you to carry a plant across the state line because of possible pest and/or disease contamination (Arizona and California are two states like this).
If I were to drive across the bridge at Detroit and find a plant I like, does anyone know if I can transport it back into the US?

It is my understanding that no plants/flowers, etc. can cross the border.

I tried the American Consulate General in Toronto, and they gave me lots of numbers to call, that no one is answering......lol!
I suspect that Justjulie is correct Kath. Try giving your U.S. Customs office a call, see what they say.
Sorry I was unable to give you an answer!

My mother travelled from Toronto to Buffalo recently and they were so picky about plants and fruit crossing the border that she was instructed she HAD to eat her banana before they crossed the border and stood there to make sure!

I suspected as much, Julie. Thanks for the advice. I won't try to bring any plants back, now watch me find something extraordinary in Ontario :(
