We've got another room to add to my group! My Aunt is coming and doesn't seem to be getting on here so I'll register for her. So It'll be her, my grandmother, and DD9!!! So excited! We are down to about the 10 week mark!

I got it! Are they in their own room or yours?

This is for Angelia'sThree. You said your sister and family were joining us, and her children are 12 and 9. You may have already posted this, but are they boys or girls? Names?

Also Mancub. Your sister, I believe, and her family? Two children, 10 and 9...same questions.

Still need to know if the following people are interested in the FE or not? SheriB, Dreamscometrue, Lizardman, Angelia'sThree, Luvstink, Actuarian, Mancub, Lulu1996, Phred52 and Tink576. I apologize if any of you has told me already and I missed it.

Thanks!

Our list is starting to fill in! Anyone else??

We had already made reservations for tea for 3 of us (Jason wasn't interested in it), I'll see if my husband really wants to go to it or if he'd be okay with just "the girls" joining the tea party. I'll check with him and let you know.

My mom and I already have a res for 3pm on Monday the 11th, so if that's the day you are doing it and there was a way to "join in" and sit with "the group," we'd be up for it. :goodvibes

I have been unable to make any TEA ressies. If somone already has one and/or if a few of you have ressies and they are for similar times/days it might be an idea to ry to "build off that ressie and see if we can get a couple large tables

If this sounds good please post your ressies date/time. If we cannot pull this together we can always do Karaoke you know..

 I cant believe I have to write one of these posts for the second year in a row...

Due to my mothers health, we are going to have to put off our cruise till next year. She needed to have surgery before being able to go on the cruise, and because the hospitals are so full of H1N1 people they are canceling lots of surgeries and everything else is moving ultra slow. At this rate she wont get the surgery until sometime around Feb 2010 due to the shortage in hospital beds.

We were signed up for fish extenders, so please take my party off the list

Fawn: We were originally schedule to have our 2009 cruise together, then we got this one together... maybe we'll finally meet in 2011? :confused3

It was nice talking with all of you, have a wonderful cruise.

I envy all of you who are able to check in and "talk" often!! I know I am after the Dec. 1 date, but since I was on the original FE list, I hope that I am still on the final list, though my name was on a 'question' list as I read through all of the posts that I have missed! The ages of our second cabin children are DD10 and DS9(cabin 7037), names Allie and Cole, respectively. Our cabin 7035 children are DS13(Hoa) and DD11(Madison). I went to the google docs and printed out the list, but there were still cabin #s missing. Is everything on the facebook page? My DD has facebook, so I will be having her log on to the page, hopefully. Any other info would be greatly appreciated. So looking forward to a break in the hectic life - relaxing for a week on the cruise!!

See everyone in a few weeks!!

I am a huge fan of DCL pins. I have over 200 of them and am looking forward to getting some more :santa:

I have found however that the cruises are generally not that active in trading. The CM's in the shops have laynards and they have the nightly sale in the lobby with the officers trading the one night.

The problem for me was that there were very few DCL pins for trade. If I remember correctly, on my last cruise I only traded for 1-2 cruise line pins.

Here are a few pics of some of my DCL pins

Wow! Your collection is beautiful...I framed some of my pins...I just don't know how to put pictures on the dis to show them off.

I find it so annoying how little trading occurs on the the ship. We should definitely set a time to meet up and pin trade. My dad and I are seriously into pin trading and my siblings (9 and 13) are mildly into it (They have their books but mostly trade with cast members since we don't let them even attempt to trade with the sharks at downtown disney). I'm trying to think of a good time to meet up and trade...I'm thinking saturday wouldn't be a good day because obviously whatever general meet we have, plus boat drill and dinner...there isn't time...but does anyone know our first sea day? That would probably be a good day to set it up...

If anyone else or their kids or family members are into pin trading (weather serious trading or just having fun with cast members) speak up! and I'll organize a time and place for us to get together and trade and show off our collections...

For a general meet, in the past has been at 3 or 3:30 (I'm having trouble remembering when the boat drill is...considerably earlier then to boat drill starting lets say...) on the day we board the ship in the Promenade Lounge on deck 3... In general except for when a dis meet has been happening, that place is empty at that time. Anyone have other suggestions?

3 pm at Promenade Lounge usually works out well because it's far enough before the safety drill to not have to rush to get back to the room.

We're celebrating our 17th anniversary. I'm trying not to feel too guilty about leaving her, but I figure we took her and a friend on back to back Disney cruises on the Wonder in July, and WDW over Thanksgiving so she's not too deprived- lol.

I'm going to try to catch up on reading this thread :) so if there's anything REALLY important that I need to know asap, please let me know! :thumbsup2

Also, I'll give it another day to see if our new members want to join in...so you may want to hold off on printing it out yet.

If you look at the google doc, there are three charts. First is everyone signed up on this thread. Second is just the people who are doing the FE. Third is a breakdown on the ages and numbers for the fish exchange for easy shopping!

If anyone sees I made an error or wants me to change/add something, just speak up!

Are you doing 1 gift per person per day? We tried this on our last cruise but everybody seemed to be doing different things so now I'm totally confused
I don't know if I will have enough time to get something together - how many people are doing the FE so far?

Gifts are whatever and whenever you are comfortable with. A lot of people do one per couple for adults. Some people do it once during the week, some people do it several days.

So far, I believe we have about 45 people in the exchange. I will post the link that has the list. I also broke it down by ages/sex to help people with their shopping!

Fawn - Where you have me & my DM on the list, you do show us as 12th & 2nd cruise but I notice on others you specify "Disney cruise." We ONLY sail with DCL - lol. After you make more important updates (new additions) would you mind editing us to 12th & 2nd DCL cruise? I feel awful even asking, but since others are listed "Disney" ....

Thank you, thank you, thank you in advance! And thanks so much for doing the list! :thanks:

Is everyone meting in the promenade at 3:30?

If so we can set up a time to meet in regards to trading then

I am so looking forward to this. :santa:

No problem and done! Those little errors are just what I'm looking for! Anyone else??

Also, I'm going to extend the deadline for the FE until Friday if that's ok with everyone. Since we have some latecomers to our cruise, it will give them a chance to read up on our thread and decide if they want to be included!

Is it 3:30 or 3:00? I think by 3:30 I will need to start heading back to the room with my elderly DM so she will not be rushed in getting her life jacket on and making her way (VERY slowly) down to Animator's for our safety drill before the stairways get crowded. :crowded:

Hubby and I will be on this sailing :) It's our second Disney cruise, second seven-night cruise, and our tenth cruise, in all. We are looking forward to a much-needed break before the new baby comes, and after 10 days at Disney with the children :) Looking forward to meeting you all, and I'd love to be a part of the FE, but we don't have a cabin assignment just yet...

We fly down so no car...but we have done the car in the past. Works great!

We do take the shuttle. Every once in awhile there's a delay, but it's usually not too bad. We go on the first or second one out...like to sit at the terminal and people watch. Sooo much fun to see the faces on little ones when they walk in!!

We tend to end up at the hotel bar in the evenings. If you get down early enough, join us for a drink! :woohoo:

I have read most of this thread and DW and I are anxiously looking forward to cruising with all of you.
This is our first DCL although we have 14 prior cruises with RCCL.

Our son is an entertainer on the Magic, and we are coming to visit with him along with his sister ( our DD ) and her significant other.

This sounds like a great trip and wonderful people.

We won't infringe on the activities that you have scheduled, but may stop in just to enjoy the commraderie and friendship. It's always more fun when you know a person or two.

We don't have a room number yet, as we are on a Cat 5 GTY.

OK, everyone...I'm shutting down the sign-up for the FE. As it stands, we have 15 cabins, and about 50 people signed up!!

I am waiting on cabin numbers from phred52, tink576, tink113smom and Brooke3L. If you guys could get those to me ASAP that would be great. I know some of you were waiting for cabin assignments, and if that's the case just remind me if you don't mind.

The spreadsheet has a breakdown of age/sex for everyone's convenience. Look and see if any of your information is missing or incorrect. I know I'm missing several first names, and this can be important for personalized gifts some people may make.

I guess I really should get started making my FE at this point, huh? Wish me luck!

My wife and I are new to this site and "threading" so I apologize if this isn't the right way to post our first entry. We have 4 children: two daughters (9 and 18 mos) and two sons (7 and 5). Just looking to meet some others and get some advice before we sail. We've done a 3 and a 4-night in the past; this is our first 7-nighter.

We haven't booked any excursions yet and were hoping to do one in Cozumel - dolphin encounter. It is very costly to book through DCL. We were hoping to make reservations with Dolphin Discovery but they told us they can't accept our reservation - we have to go through Disney. Can anyone help with this?

And welcome:welcome:Peterpan2010. We just booked the dolphin encounter the other day and we also looked at options of booking ourselves. There are tour companies out there but you have to be careful and check them out. Cruise critic had some reviews of some and in the end I thought we would just pay the extra for peace of mind. You can book on your own and just leave out that you are cruising but if for whatever reason the itinerary changes or because of weather we can't dock you are out of pocket. That is just my understanding of how it works, if it's different someone please correct me. Good luck on whatever you decide.:thumbsup2

I read our room is directly below one of the kitchens and it is constantly noisy room on the boat (2631). We're traveling with another party right across the hall so it might complicate it a bit!

Maybe try calling Disney or your travel agent...but look online and see where there are empty staterooms in your category to see (if they will let you move) what rooms you would want to possibly move to

I'm so excited. I ordered a FE off eBay and it arrived today -- totally gorgeous and worth every single penny.

I could never have made anything quite this pretty on my own and I can sew.

We opted for two pockets, so my husband and I will share and one for our daughter, the little princess, lol! It's yellow, red and blue, has Cruisin' with Mickey and the DCL logo at the top, a Mickey and Minnie on the top pocket, with our names (Joe and Laura) and a Minnie with a princess crown and Keighley's name on the bottom pocket. Look for us! LOL!

Can't wait to use it. Better stick it in the suitcase now so I don't forget to bring it.

Yes, I did!! LOL I ordered it very plain, with just names, no Mickey heads on the pockets...but one on the top. Everyone's favorite color for their pockets. I did this very last minute, and she is SUPER nice. Can't wait to see the finished product!

I am certain that you won't be disappointed. A quality product, nicely lightly padded (I'm guessing interfacing) so it's slightly stiff at the back. Very sturdy -- this will be going on many cruises with us.

I can't believe it's nearly time for our cruise!

Not to worry, it originally took me awhile to figure it out.

Outside each cabin door is a decorative Fish, which is used to hold notes, etc. from DCL to the cruiser. A Fish Extender is a hanging item with a series of pockets, depending on how many people are in your group, where fellow cruisers can leave little gifts and goodies.

I'm trying to attach an image from one on eBay. If it doesn't work, you can go to eBay and type in Fish Extender and some will pop up. I just purchased one, customized for my family, from gradysmommy and it's simply amazing.

A couple questions for everyone:
1. Is anyone else doing the WDW half marathon before boarding? Myself and a travel partner are doing it...so, look for me because I am SURE I will be wearing my medal for at least a day!
2. If anyone has booked a couples massage at Castaway Cay and decides to drop it...please let me know...I want it bad! ;)
3. If you get an upgrade after you get luggage tags how does that work?

Merry Christmas Everyone!

LAST CALL FOR TEA

I got a Lime Green Tommy Bahama Sweatshirt for Christmas so I will wear that when we board...and of course my green visor..anyone that wants to meet me at Rockin Bar D to try to get the TEA organized please join me.

I have the list and it has everyone's stateroom numbers. I will do what I can. You regular cruisers know that Palo has a back room for large groups and perhaps they will let us have that..it seats about 10 at least as I recall.

I will be requesting Laura from England as our server...because she is English and a very good server...my back up plan is Tomas who is fabulous as well. If neither of them are available does anyone have any preferences?

I will let everyone know by leaving a note on your FE and I hope to see you all at the MEET. I know its 3 ish and on the Promenade Deck?...is there a more specific location?..I am not sure exactly...my memory you know...

For those of you who are new to the Thread and welcome and if anyone in your party would like to join the ladies tea please let me know asap!

I can answer question #3..... as it just happened to us for this cruise!!

We were told to simply cross off the old stateroom number on the luggage tags... and write the new number on it. :thumbsup2 I used a bold black marker on the tags we've received so far. We are STILL waiting for 2 sets, there are 7 in our party and 5 of us have the documents so far.

We will be leaving tomorrow to head to WDW for a few days at the parks, DH and DD will be in the 5K on Friday. I made a FE using directions from the links given to us -- it was fun to do (I used iron-on transfers as I only have an old basic type of sewing machine). We will be looking forward to meeting everyone next week (and getting away from cold weather for several days---we live in east central Illinois and our temperature tomorrow morning will be -2 F). Safe travel wishes to all!

lulu1996 - Dress warm for WDW. It's been very cold for Florida. Forecast is low thirties overnight and low to mid-fifties during the day for the coming week. If the wind picks up, it gets a bit chilly. It's still FAR better than northern temps, but don't expect our usual "summer in the winter" warmth. ::MinnieMo

UGH...I know it's better then to foot of snow in my driveway that has to be shoveled but...come on Florida warm up! Packing the warm clothes takes up way to much room in the suitcase...I think this will be one of the first times we take our coats with us to Florida instead of leaving them in the car when we reach the airport...

I love the cooler temps here since it gives me an opportunity to wear some winter clothes - lol. In spite of living in FL now, I'm a cold weather person at heart. I don't think you'll need to bring much, but definitely a good warm jacket and if you plan to be outside early morning or late evening, maybe a warm hat and gloves. Then you can layer a lot of lightweight clothes underneath if needed.

Who knows? Maybe warmer days will return soon. Weather forecasters are not always right, but it's better to be prepared.

Hi fellow cruisers. I checked in many months ago and haven't been back till recently. I was wondering if any of you are doing any of the dive excursions in Cozumel or Grand Cayman? My DD23 is signed up for both, but no one else in our travel party is certified, so she's basically going herself. She's a little nervous about not having a dive partner or knowing anyone who's going. Anyone out there? Just to refresh, our party is me, DH, DD23, DS18, my sister, her husband, their DD13 and DS10. Also, since the last time I checked in, my sister's friend, husband, DD14 and DS11 have joined our group.
I know this is a last minute question, but I was hoping to find someone to help ease my daughter's apprehension. Thanks.

Luckily I packed some warm clothes. We are in Cocoa Beach at the Raddisson and it's very nice! We were going to stay here pre-cruise but since it is so cold we modified our ressie to tonight and are heading South til Cruise Time. It is supposed to gradually get better but expect cold, damp and windy at least for the first few days. Cozumel predicting 75 and Grand Cayman 79 for the respective days.

Once again I will head for Rocking Bard D as soon as we board and will try to get ressie for several of us for tea. Look for me , I will be very green and easy to spot...and see you at the meet..welcome to the new folks...we hope to see you at them meet as well!!

Yes, it's a bit chilly. This Saturday when we board, the forecast for the port is low of 40, high of 59, with probably a 15 mph breeze. So pack that warm jacket, folks!

A few days ago at WDW it was cold enough for me to wear a leather jacket and winter hat. If this weather continues, I may be wearing one when we board. :lmao:

BTW - It's supposed to get down to 29 tonight where I live, and I'm only an hour from WDW and less than that from Port Canaveral. Can we say "Winter?"

I have heard it's difficult to cancel Disney Reservations and specifically for Castaway Cay, so I have cancelled our reservation there for Jet SKiing. I don't think we will have trouble rebooking that if we want to. Our other excursions are not with Disney and they all have fairly relaxed policies according to the information we got when booking.

We have read 75 at Cozumel and 79 at Grand Cayman..since we are from Seattle and have been in Florida all week in the COLD ..I think 75 will be just fine...if not we shall jog !

I think it's Actuarian that said they always book 7120 or ? (sorry, can't remember the #), is that one of the cabins with the "white" blacony instead of the railing? or a "secret" balcony with the window cut-out? I was just curious...

I know everyone will probably think I'm crazy, but I just got a call from DCL offering me a free upgrade from Cat. 7 to Cat 4, and I turned it down. Yep. First of all, I actually PREFER the "semi-enclosed" Navigator Verandah (but not the white half-metal "secret" ones). I like the nautical touches, the comfort (love that cushioned bench), and the fact that I can still enjoy it even in slightly inclement weather because it is somewhat shielded from the elements. My mother also prefers it. But . .

For just a moment I considered happily accepting. The Cat. 4 they offered us was still aft (also my preferred location), but I am really fond of Deck 7 and don't want to move to 8. The deciding moment for me was when I remembered the current temps here lately. Until we get to Cozumel and Grand Cayman it is likely to remain rather chilly. I don't think my elderly mom would get much use from a regular "open" verandah in this weather. So I turned it down and we are remaining where we are. Maybe they will offer it to someone else from our thread. ;)

Sorry for the late notice. My TA just notified me that we have been upgraded from a cat 6 to a cat 4. Not sure it is going to make that much difference, but it's nice anyway:) Anyway, we are signed up for the FE. Our room number was 6616. It has been changed to 8572. Hope everyone can find me:) :confused3

FYI to everyone boarding this Saturday - The local weather forecast is now bringing the possibility of snow, sleet and rain, depending on how fast it heads down after it hits the Ocala area. Yep - You are reading correctly! Unless things change, it may be no more than 43 degrees (not counting wind chill) and either raining (showers) or snowing (flurries), depending on temps. I sure hope things clear up for the sail-away party. In fact, I hope the forecast is wrong and we get no precipitation.

Uhhhhh . . . Welcome to Florida - the SUNSHINE state! :beach:

At least there is a lot to do on the ship without braving the elements. :goodvibes

Not sure who is left around here, but I just got a call for an upgrade! :) So for those doing the FE, my new stateroom number is 2056.
I'm so ready to be on the ship now.

I hope everyone had/will have a safe journey home. We didn't make any meets because my elderly DM ended up requiring nearly 100% of my time/attention. Her slow pace was a hindrance, but we both enjoyed the cruise. I do think I may have spotted "the group" at tea. My mom and I were sitting by the window. We also had the pleasure of sharing a table on our dining rotation with fellow DISer actuarian and his wife Jackie. Nice people and it was great getting to know them. :chat:

I am still booked for the 4 Dec. 2010 Magic of course, but the discount and big onboard credit for Platinum CC prompted me to book the 3 Dec. 2011 Magic while aboard. Will anyone else here be on either of those?

Even though we had less than an hour's drive from port to home, I am SO exhausted and sleepy. Didn't sleep much last night. My brain must have been in "time to get off the ship" mode. :sad1:

We made it home too after 10 1/2 hours of traveling:crazy2: I do have to say that the kids were great though. We rebooked on board too but not until Oct 2011 and just with the younger kids this time as the older ones will be in college. I also booked my parents with one of my kids so they could get the discount and on board credit. I have to say though, when I told my parents I booked them my dad was surprised at how much more it was than this one was going to be for them. So I went to the computer to show him his savings, and if I booked myself on-line with no "10% discount" I would save $439.69 for just their room.:confused3 So I will be calling my travel agent on Monday to check it out and see if this is correct and if it is I will cancel my existing ressie and rebook with her. Either way I'm excited I'm going again! :cool1:

tow-mater-1 - Wow. Really? Is it possible that maybe one includes ground trans or insurance and the other does not? That does not sound right. If the onboard booking agent messed up (which can happen occasionally), you should definitely call DCL about it. I'm sure they would adjust the price. The only thing with DCL is that YOU need to stay on top of things. When the cost of our stateroom was lowered by a thousand dollars for Florida residents AFTER we had made final payment, I had to call to get the credit applied. And if the price they show online is lowered even multiple times between booking and your cruise, you have to call them to have yours lowered. Otherwise they only adjust the cost of changing surcharges and government fees. Still, I always prefer dealing directly with DCL myself. :surfweb:

Whoops my mistake not theirs. I forgot to add a kid in that room. I had filled up their room with 2 kids on paper only for the cheaper rate of cat11 with my hubby and I with one child in cat 6. They would have actually only had one staying with them and that's where I messed up. They decided against it anyway due to the time of year, so now unless we find someone to take their place we have to pay for 4 adult fares and only 1 child :sad2:

Thank you for orienting me to DCL and helping to make our cruise a truly magical experience---thank you for all the wonderful FE gifts, decorating our door and participating in the FE made us feel part of a special group and contributed a lot to the magical experience of the cruise. I am sorry to have missed the reception in Fawn’s room---I was dealing (via email) with a crisis that had arisen at work and did not understand what my son tried to tell me about the message, by the time he was able to tell me about it we had missed it. We enjoyed the cruise so much it will be a let down to go on other cruise lines in the future (although we may to get to other destinations). Our servers were so much fun (Shantol & Gideon)! We hope to go on other Disney cruises in the future and hope to be able to spend more time visiting and sharing experiences with DisBoard members in the future. Thank you again!

Just reserved today for next year, January 8 Western.

We had such a great time this cruise, we're going back for more.

The weird thing is, as we're DVC members, the total points needed are LESS than was required this year. I don't know quite why; only thing I can think is that they've re-graded the Category 11s into 3 levels (we booked an A as we'd prefer being on 6 or 7 as opposed to 2) and that somehow lowered the necessary points. Still, I don't care how, I'm just glad to be going again. Our 4th Disney Cruise! After one more, we'll be Gold, lol.

Hope you all had a MAGICAL time!!! I was wondering if you could share some insight into a few things for those of us sailing later this spring (April 3 - Western Magic):

1) How are the expansion projects at Castaway Cay coming along? What's done and what's still a work in progress? Did any of your kids try the new Animal Tracking Series activity?

2) Speaking of that new kids' programs, has the Magic implemented the changes to the kids' programs we've recently seen reported? (http://www.cruisecritic.com/articles.cfm?ID=1064) If so, what did you think about the changes, especially the mixing of the ages? Good, bad, no big deal? DD12 is excited by what she's read so far, but we haven't seen many first-hand accounts.

Thanks a bunch!

Hi Charliez, sorry I don't have any real answers for you. I did notice work being done on Castaway Cay but to be honest I was so taken in by everything else that I didn't pay much attention. As for the kids club my boys only went once and the new program according to the article isn't going to be implemented until spring. I kinda wish it had been up and running, my boys were separated, I have a 4 and 5 year old and I think they would have done better together. It was by far the best vacation we have ever had and can't wait to go back! Have a great time on your cruise:thumbsup2.
