I truly believe this was a night walking type incident. I had these when I was about 8 years old. My mom even audio taped it once so I can hear what happened. It was after my granny died and I started acting just like Aisling. Acting like I was somewhere else, looking out a window that didn't exist, screaming for no apparent reason. The dr told my mom NOt to try and wake me up and let it play itself out. I know it must have been scary for my mom but it eventually stopped after a few weeks. Some of the terrors were about losing my granny, but some were just as if I were somewhere else...like at my friends house. I hope that helps.

 That must have been so scary for you! I had night terrors as a kid and that sounds like what this might have been.

Tessa has weird episodes like this sometimes. She'll wander out of her room after she's been asleep for about an hour and she'll start doing weird things, like getting out all of her coloring books. Once she went and sat in the hall closet. She's never been screaming, but she doesn't respond to us when we talk to her. She almost always has to go to the bathroom when she does this, but she doesn't seem to be able to find the bathroom unless we physically take her in there.

I'm sure that it was just a night terror like everyone has suggested. However, I would probably give her only a half dosage of the benadryl the next time you give it to her just to double check that she isn't developing an allergic reaction to it. Just a cautious Mom & Nurse here.
Have you asked the camp if you had a written order/prescription for your physician. I know that our schools can't do chap stick unless they have a note from the physician. I'm not sure but I think that the pharmacy may even have to put a sticker on it even if non prescriptive.

Oh that's soooo sad!

After my dad died Aisling used to sit on the floor and "talk" to him. One day she was playing blocks and told me that she was doing it wrong. I pointed out that there is no "wrong" way to build block and she said that it wasn't how "Bob Bob" wanted it!

Kid likes to find ways to freak us out!!!

Why or why do they have to go to the bathroom?!?! Bad enough you have to deal with the scariness of it but now you have to be cleaning floors at midnight!!!

Thanks for the advice. My pedi said to try not to give it to her for a couple of nights unless the swelling gets really bad just in case.

I don't have a note from the doctor...he just told me to do it. Maybe I should get one. Really drives me nuts because you know the counselors are just being lazy. I really doubt that it's a state law that they can't put bug spray on someone!

Sounds like you've gotten really good advice on what may be going on.

One thing I don't understand- if the bug spray is a medical necessity (and it sounds like it is if she swells up) and you get a note from the doc saying so, I'm not sure why they wouldn't be able to apply it to your daughter after swimming. There HAVE to be kids at camp who need medications during the day, and a policy for administering them

Just something to think about.

I don't get it either! They have a nurse at the camp so maybe I should try seeing if SHE could apply it????

Oh my goodness! You must have been freaking out - especially with Randy not home. I am so glad to hear it doesn't seem to be anything serious. I agree with everyone - put on your mama bear hat and go get that camp. If Aisling needs bug spray, there is no reason someone - the nurse, counselor, whoever - can't apply it for her. Hope today is a better day!

You would think the camp can see that I'm not exaggerating her symptoms...I'm surprised nobody has filed on me....her poor legs look like she's beaten :scared1:

Unrelated. Where did you get the 4X6 chipboard for the autograph book covers? I don't feel like driving down to my scrapbooking place but I might have to. Haven't been able to find them.

I got them at AC Moore - Michaels never seems to have them.

Jordan's legs always have bruises on them - I think people probably wonder about her home life too. We will have to start a club - Moms of kids who look like they have been beaten but are actually spoiled little princesses.

Unrelated note from me - the house that we bought (assuming there are no inspection issues) is a four bedroom - which means a play room for Jordan and a craft room! Woo-hoo! I have a craft room/office now but it is tiny.

I have to agree with all the other people who have responded. It sure sounds like a night terror to me. My daughter who is 7 has had them all her short life. She kicks, screams, bangs the wall beside her bed, and fights me if I try to comfort her. She truly has no idea that she is doing these things. She doesn't remember having one but they are literally hell on me as a parent.

I have found that she gets them when she is over tired or something is bothering her tremendously. Both of those sound like what your daughter is going through. She is tired from camp and she is dealing with all of the bug bites.

I would still call your doctor and tell them what happened. Trust me they won't think that you are crazy. They have heard crazier things. My mom is a nurse and comes home with some stories that are doozies and yours doesn't even come close to those. If nothing else it will give you peace of mind that nothing is wrong with your child and give you ways to cope with them if it happens in the future.

If you'd like someone to talk more about them PM me and I would be happy to tell you how we have dealt with them. I hope this is an isolated incident. They really do stink.

:welcome: Thank you!!! So sorry that you've had to go through this! I did end up calling the Doctor and they have decided that it was most likely a night terror combined with sleepwalking. If it happens again, they will test her to make sure that it's not something else....like a seizure.

Thanks for all the support!!!

Hi Kristine!

I am new to Dis and I knew that I had to read your PTR because of how similar it is to our upcoming trip!

We are going Oct 19th through the 24th for my daughter's 6th birthday. We are also surprising her- not sure how yet though!

We live in NH and as I was reading your report I was amazed that we know the same people....

I went to HS with the wife of the author of MouseJunkies.... And I went to HS with Becky's husband Bill.
CRAZY SMALL WORLD!!!!

I have been to Disney only a few times and I can't wait for the day to come! We are staying at Port Orleans.

Happy planning!

Did you make all your ADRs for your trip????

You registered your DD's bday right???

Jealous about Port Orleans. It looks like a beautiful hotel.

Ok...going back to make sure I didn't say anthing bad about Bill on here ;) :rotfl2:

So I had a scary night with my baby last night. :guilty:

A little background info is that Aisling is extremely allergic to bug bites. When she gets one, she swells up like a balloon. All her joints swell up and she gets big welts and bruises. Needless to say, a summer camp in the woods in NH...on a lake...with all this rain...isn't helping the cause. Of course I practically drown her in bugspray in the morning but they counselors are not allowed to re-apply it after they go swimming. The poor thing is getting eaten alive. Her pediatrician told me to give her Benedryl to help with the joint swelling. Obviously, I need to give her the Benedryl at night because it would make her drowsy during the day.

So last night, I gave her Benedryl before bed like usual. At about 11pm I heard a crash. I was convinced that someone had broken into my house. Then I heard a little noise from Aisling's room. I called her name and she didn't respond so I ran in there. She was just standing next to her bed, not making a sound. She was just staring. When I started talking to her, she started to scream...LOUDLY. She didn't say a word just screamed. Then she ran to the bathroom. Of course I followed her but she seemed totally confused where she was. She ran back and forth between her bedroom and the bathroom screaming. Then she took off all her clothes. Eventually she decided that she had to go potty but instead of using the toilet...she peed on the floor...like she couldn't find the toilet :confused3

Mind you, she was still just screaming during all of this. No response to me at all. Then finally she started speaking but she was yelling about kids being in our house and having balloons and them not letting her play with the balloons. At this point, she had been up for 15 minutes. I couldn't figure out if she was sleep walking or having hallucinations from the Benedryl or what.

Finally after about 20 minutes of not being able to calm her down, I told her that i was going downstairs to call Randy to have him come home because I was terrified (not to mention that I was convinced that one of my neighbors were going to call the cops soon as a child screaming that late at night)

When I started to head downstairs she finally stopped screaming and grabbed my hand. She still wasn't talking to me but was able to walk downstairs. I called Randy and of course, right afterward, she kinda snapped out of it and was able to talk a little bit. We waited on the couch for Randy to get home. She wouldn't talk to him other than to ask him to tuck her into bed.

This morning...totally fine :confused3

So I'm still at a loss as to what is going on?!?!

Benedryl making her hallucinate? (I couldn't take it as a kid because I hallucinated on it)

Sleepwalking??? (Randy and I were both sleepwalkers)

Some kind of Seizure??? (didn't think of this last night until several people pointed out to me at work that it could have been a seizure)

Random other reason????

Now of course Aisling is leaving tonight for an 8 day vacation with my mom in Maine. Better make sure I send her health insurance card just in case!

I read your post from the the disboards and I agree with the others & the DR about the Night terrors - but I wanted to add to what your dr said - let it play out don't wake her - UNLESS - she is going ot do something to harm herself. And it doesn't sound like any kind of seizure I have ever seen -I've been working in the ER for almost 9 yrs now. I haven't had anyone come in with seizures with those types of things.

She arrived safe and sound in Maine last night...immediately went to bed for my mom and slept until 8am with NO nightmares/sleep disturbances of any sort!!!:banana::banana:

Missed your night terror update somehow. Yep, my eldest used to have oodles of those. They were scary at first, but after a while, we used to joke that if she didn't grow out of them she'd have some interesting sleep overs. We'd hang out in her room until she laid back down. Sometimes we could get her to take a drink of water and that would wake her up enough to go back to sleep and sometimes taking her to the bathroom would work. Sometimes it would have to run its course. Hopefully Aisling is done with them. CUTE beach bunny pictures.:goodvibes

We are just staying at POP this time. My DH isn't very happy about that now that we've done AKL for the past two years! But, we just bought a house a month ago and this will actually be my 2nd trip to Disney this year (I went in February with other DISers) so we need to keep in on the cheap side! Aisling loves POP so she'll be fine with it.

Glad to hear so far so good in Maine! How's the sewing going?

Haven't started actually sewing yet. I finished cutting out all the outfits I'm making this morning, so everything is ready to go. I also finished Aisling's autograph book today.

So I promised a Mini-TR from our camping trip to Old Orchard Beach, Maine. And when I saw camping, I mean that it the very loosest sense of the word. We have been going to the same campground since I was 1 (so 31 years). At some point when I was a toddler, my parents became “seasonal” (which for non-camping people means that the camper stays there all the time). Our site because increasingly more fancy dancy. It now barely resembles camping and more luxury living! That RV is nicer than some of my apartments!

Anyway, so had promised my mom to “ babysit” her dog for the weekend while she went to a wedding on the Cape. And since her dog and my cat really don’t see eye to eye, it made sense to go to Maine. We drove up Friday night and got there in record time which was fabulous. My mother’s dog was a pain in the neck like he always is. He is the most spoiled dog. He gets carsick so he has to sit in the front seat with his head raised. And he cries when he’s not with my mother! So again, I repeat, it was great that we made such good time because that crying in obnoxious

Friday night we didn’t do much. Aisling and Randy fell asleep fairly quickly and I watched something stupid on TV. Saturday we woke up bright and early because of the stupid dog! He was crying again.

We got dressed, Randy cooked breakfast, and then we hit the pool. Well, mostly Aisling hit the pool and we stayed in the hot tubs!

http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg269/ksc565/OOB%20July%202009/109585980805_0_ALB.jpg

http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg269/ksc565/OOB%20July%202009/846406980805_0_ALB.jpg

Afterward, we went for dinner to our favorite seafood place. While we had been swimming, Randy got a really bad headache that made him revisit breakfast and lunch  He had been feeling better so he wanted to go to dinner. Well we all know what happens when you’ve been sick and you smell seafood. Just not a good combo. But Randy never complained. In fact, he got the food and went and got me a drink. A big drink. A drink that comes in a sandbucket. If you are on FB…you probably saw it!

Now, if you know me at all….i rarely drink. Very rarely. But it was hot. So I downed half this baby and then Aisling asked to go to the bathroom. I got up to take her and I could barely walk a straight line. I was like a cartoon! I got back to the table and Randy looked miserable. But here is the issue. I always drive. I get car sick so I drive everywhere. But there was NO WAY I could drive. I felt terrible since Randy looked so sick but he was a trooper about it. And since he was…I might as well FINISH the drink right??? LOL!

We got back to the campground without incident and from the fresh air, Randy was feeling a bit better. I told him that I was going to take Aisling downtown to ride the rides alone but he felt okay enough to go (I was still a little silly so it was probably in everyone’s best interest that he walk down with us).

Along the way, I took some pics of things that brought me back to my childhood. I won’t bore you with them all but these two must be shared!!!!

Who still buys these?!?!
http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg269/ksc565/OOB%20July%202009/101995980805_0_ALB.jpg

And just in case you think that they are left over from the 80s…they aren’t…

We got downtown and it started to rain. Of course right! So some of the rides shut down. Aisling was not happy. She now big enough for all the big rides and she wanted to try them all!!! She did get on some though

That looks like alot of fun! Camping is not camping unless it is in tent! New words need to be invented for all these cool campers! I would like camping alot better if it was done in style and if they had a pool vs some nasty lake!

I get sick at the smell of seafood just on a normal day. I cannot imagine not feeling well. Poor Randy!

I also drive everywhere or I get sick! It never started until Lin got his new car 5 years ago! Well, I should say I could usually handle short trips with him driving like to the mall but nope. Not after that car! Ick!

Can't wait for the next update!

But for Heaven's sake, Shhh! about the RVing!

Ed keeps telling me that when he retires he wants to sell the house and get a big RV and just travel around the country all the time!!

Glad you got the autograph book finished! But I think your mini-tr means you are procrastinating instead of sewing. :rotfl: JK - glad to hear you have all of the outfits cut out already! That will make things a lot easier.

My inlaws have a camper and are seasonal too. They have a whole big deck on theirs now and a golf cart to drive around the campground. They also have a very very spoiled dog who only eats people food so when we watched her for a week I had to cook for the dog. Love all the pics from the weekend and your drink sounds really good!

I booked the Halloween trip for me and Jordan - we will be at WDW from 10/30 - 11/3. :cool1:

When I last left you on my Mini-Maine-TR Miss Ash was finishing up on the rides and had decided that she wanted to model on the beach

OOPS!!!

Well after that...it was time to walk home. Now in fairness it's about a mile walk. But Aisling does it all the time without incident. But today she was wet...and covered with sand :rolleyes1 So, she wanted to be carried home. NOT happening!!

Well that started the meltdown to end meltdowns!!!

I know what you are thinking....Kristine you made this worse by taking pics. And you are right. But when you kid is sticking out her tongue at you in public- you have to do something so that YOU don't have your own meltdown ;)

Needless to say...she still had to walk home

That looks like alot of fun! Camping is not camping unless it is in tent! New words need to be invented for all these cool campers! I would like camping alot better if it was done in style and if they had a pool vs some nasty lake!

I get sick at the smell of seafood just on a normal day. I cannot imagine not feeling well. Poor Randy!

I also drive everywhere or I get sick! It never started until Lin got his new car 5 years ago! Well, I should say I could usually handle short trips with him driving like to the mall but nope. Not after that car! Ick!

Can't wait for the next update!

I missed this before!

Never go to Maine then...whole state smells like seafood! You don't like any seafood???

Don't you hate having to drive??? I hate it but I'm also not taking Dramamine everytime I get in a car. I was in a car accident with a coworker (I was the passenger) and I turned around and saw the car coming toward me and obviously as the passenger, there was nothing I could do. The truck hit right at the spot between the front and back seats- blew out all her windows- we were covered in glass but ok. But every since then, I get so worked up, I need to drive.

Nope, no seafood what so ever! I can somewhat handle raw shrimp (as in looking at it not eating it)!

It does get annoying to drive all the time! I do better on trips. I think because it is all highway and no starting or stopping but Lin usually wants to nap or we leave after he has worked so I end up driving anyways.

I am so glad you were okay!! I am sure if something like that happened I would never let anyone else drive ever!

Love the newest update! The meltdown pictures are hilarious! I can imagine you standing there and snapping photos! The playing in the water pictures are my favorite!

Love the new criss cross shirt!

Love the tantrum photos of Ash! So glad to know that I do not have the only almost 6 year old DD that still does that stuff! I will have to take photos of Jordan during her next one so I can show her how silly she looks.

I am thinking about starting a PTR for our trip (I've never done one) and so I can include info about Magic Meets this weekend. If I do, make sure you visit!

Still sewing...

When I was trying to figure out what to make for AK, I decided to do something different. I had gotten bored of doing animal prints but what else do you do for AK? My friend Stacy (sohappy) suggested that I think of Aisling's favorite attractions for inspiration. So I did! And I thought of FOTLK and all the bright colors! Then I decided that I wanted to try to do an applique of the simba drawing Rafiki makes in the movie....

Here is what I came up with...

The other big news is that we think we might add another day to the trip...meaning that Aisling will be missing 3 full days of school. Probably not the most responsible decision but turns out that the rules around attendance are only for grades 1 and up at Aisling's school since K is not mandatory in Mass.

SOOOO I tried to call and add another day but of course Disney's computers are down today. So I will keep you posted!

If we add the other day, the plan would be to:

Fly in Thursday- switch Chef Mickey's to Thursday (as of tonight- they still had ADRs available but I don't want to switch until my resort ressies are made)

Friday- go to DHS (since we were going to miss in entirely on this trip) and make a dinner ADR for Sci-Fi

Rest of the week would be the same.

What do you guys think?????

I love the dress. I love the fact that you did something different from the usual animal print Mickey Head. Very Creative!

I am taking my kids out of school this year too. Thankfully Ethan is in Kindergarten and I am not worried about it. I am worried about what Abby's teacher will say. She is an excellent student and I am not worried about her, but I am concerned that the school will be difficult to deal with. She is in third grade this year. We haven't told the teacher yet.

Aisling's school is super strict (private Catholic school). The principal was a teacher when I was a student there and I'm still scared of that woman :scared1: I did tell the vice principal that she was going to miss a couple of days in October but her teacher doesn't know yet.

She's going to miss 3 full days and be dismissed early another day. That's not THAT bad right???? :rolleyes1

Super Strict? Yikes. But since she is in Kindergarten I wouldn't worry about it. Do you know any of the other parents you could ask? What does her teacher say?

My Daughter went to a Catholic School for 1st and 2nd Grade. We really loved the school but couldn't afford it for both kids. Now that I lost my job we really couldn't afford it. She missed 5 days last year unexcused, two for our trip to my brother's wedding and 3 for a trip to Disney. Her grades didn't suffer at all and the school didn't seem to mind. They did count as unexcused absences though. Here in Georgia if they have 10 or more days of unexcused absences then the school will contact Department of Family and Children's Services. That is the part that scares me.

Same here but I figure why else would she need to take an unexcused absence during the year. The only other time she would be out if she's sick and those would be excused I'm assuming. The other parents I know at the school said go for it this year because we won't be able to do it ever again!

My own selfishness made me add the day! I got spoiled with our long trip last year and I keep thinking that 4 nights is going to be way too rushed! I mentioned it to Randy who had 1 more vacation day left that he could use and he said "add it"- he also encouraged me to upgrade the hotel if I wanted. I told him that while I'm normally the responsible one...in terms of Disney he can't say things like that and he HAS to reign me in!!! :lmao:

Save some days for a dismeet! Otherwise you are good! Dallas missed 4, the 4 days we were at the dismeet! I am hoping they have that whole week off this year. Rumor is that they are cutting days and extending the school day by 10 minutes.

The beach pictures look like fun, but I love the tantrum pictures. I'm so impressed that you are already sewing for your trip. Everything looks great! I haven't even started  and we are there around the same time (27th - 2nd).

Where is the candy store in Maine? My sister lives in Manchester, NH and is planning a wedding next summer so we are contemplating just spending a week or so exploring out around there. We were out there many years ago, but only had one little one at the time. Any suggestions for kid friendly places to go? Our kids really want to "see the beach."

AND...How did you find out Tiana will be at Disney and where will she be?? My daughter was just asking me about that today. She will flip a lid if she gets to meet the NEW princess while we are there.

On missing school, I think missing a few days in Kindergarten is no biggie. My daughter will be missing two while we are gone. I taught first grade and as a teacher I never minded when my kids missed a few days for family time. ;)

No I'm not...it's just that we NEVER get to see it. We literally have missed it every time Aisling has gone with us so she has never seen it. Which means that we haven't seen it in 4-5 years. We even missed it at DL too!!! It's always on the bottom of the to do list. And now that it's not playing every night...I'm sure we won't see it for awhile

I found out about Tiana on FB...I'm a "fan" of the movie on there ;) They are going to be doing a riverboat show with the other characters I guess and then she will be out for "limited" autographs.

The candy store is in Old Orchard Beach, Maine. It's not that far from Manchester as it's in southern Maine. Plenty for kids to do around there. The beach that Aisling is posing on is downtown and near the rides and restaurants. That beach gets really crowded but if you go a couple of miles down the road...there is plenty of nice places for the kids to hang out.

BTW....Hardest to get ADR of my trip??? Sci Fi!!! I switched around my ADRs this morning. Switched CMs first...no problem. Went to do Sci Fi figuring that it wouldn't be an issue...NOPE. No availability for dinner at all- unless you wanted dinner at 4:10pm! :confused3 . For lunch they only had 11:10 or 1:45. I took the 1:45. I figured we'll have a cooked breakfast at POP, have a morning snack, and Aisling will be fine waiting until then.

It's so weird. Stacy and I changed our ADR for Sci Fi THAT day w/o a problem in February so I figured it wasn't that popular. My only guess is that when you have 3 people- you need a full car right? You can't hitchhike in the back like Stacy and I did on our trip.

A Wishing Well someone had on their site.

So after Aisling had a nice long rest from that horrible meltdown- we spent the next day back and the pool and then took another walk downtown. Yes, Aisling is wearing the same shirt as the night before. She asked...we were camping...I went with it ;)

And had a very overpriced lemonade

And then we had to back to Massachusetts. The ride home was a nightmare. It took DOUBLE the time because of the traffic. And my mother's dog cried so much that we had to keep stopping to make sure he was okay.

Overall is was a fun weekend. I wish the weather had been better so we could have taken a few more trips up there this summer but it looks like this is going to be it. Aisling did just get back from a weeklong vacation with my mom up there. I'll share pics from that soon!

All right...back to the regularly scheduled Disney chat!

Cute lightfixtures. I enjoyed your pictures, even though I'm not an affecianado, like some people.:snooty:;)

Ugh about the crying dog on the way home! Don't they make doggy tranquilizers or something?

Ahhh...the 95 Crawl. SO much fun. I used to live right near 95 in Kittery and we would go walk up to the highway overpass and the traffic would be backed up for miles and miles between the York Tollbooth and the Hampton Tollbooth. Fun times!

Love the light fixtures! Very cute.

I wish!!! The dog gets car sick so he has to ride in the front seat too. Most spoiled dog EVER!

Here is my PSA of the day. I'm actually making this list for my friend Stacy but I figured that I would post it here for anyone making a personalized autograph book!

Here is the characters we met on the last trip:

Mickey
Minnie
Donald
Daisy
Goofy
Pluto
Chip and Dale
Pooh
Tigger
Eeyore
Piglet
Captain Hook
Smee
Peter Pan
Wendy
Ariel
Pinocchio
Gepetto
Mary Poppins
Mad Hatter
Alice
Cinderella
Prince Charming
Lady Tremaine
Anastasia
Drizella
Fairy Godmother
Belle and Beast
Aurora
Snow White and her Prince (she is apparently meeting at her new Wishing Well now with her Prince and Dopey)
Jasmine and Aladdin
Lilo and Stich
Baloo
Timon
Rafiki
Pocahontas
Flick
Mulan
Mushu
Mr and Mrs. Incredible
Handy Manny
Buzz
Woody
Jessie
(Mike and Sully do not sign)

None of the Villians at MNSSHP signed autographs last year...I don't know if that's normal or not.

Thanks for the list. Are the lines shorter in Sept? I refused to wait to see Darby or Ariel or anyone else that had a long line. I had most of those, but didn't have a few.

Does Queen of Hearts sign autographs at MNSSHP?

Do you think Dopey will be offended if he is grouped over 2 pages as "seven dwarves"?

The lines are shorter in Sept. The longest line I've ever waited in for a character was with you!!!

Ariel we hit IMMEDIATELY when she comes out so we haven't waited in line for her either. But if I had boys...i would never wait for her.

Queen of Hearts did not sign at MNSSHP BUT i have seen her out at the parks before and she did sign then.

Don't think Dopey would be offended at all. The 7 dwarves are out at MNSSHP but we missed them last year when i was riding Splash Mountain over and over and over.

Since we are going to MNSSHP on our last day, I am hoping that the kids will be all ridden out (wow, no idea how to phrase that). Anyway, I am hoping that they will want to do something different.

LOVE the Maine pictures. Seeing pics of Ash brings a smile to my face. I just love her!

I am up for another dis meet as long as it involves our previous discussed stop at Harry Potter Land (or whatever it is called!). I will totally let you drive. I am the worlds worst driver, like seriously. I had an accident when I was taking my driving test- AND, they still gave me a license!!!

So, do you want me to send J's Sci Fi shirt (orange with Mickey in the car)? It is a 6/7 t-shirt. I am working on the Sally Vida, the Snow White outfit, anything else? Need me to do something chef-mickey ish? Oh, and she could wear J's pop shirt too if you wanted!

Harry Potter's Wizarding World :rolleyes1 There are pics of the contruction on Universal's website if you check it out.

Oh I'm definately driving! Or we can take a cab or something.

I think I'm going to do the Minnie dress that I made for my friend's daughter for CMs and use the Malificent Minnie for DHS. I can't really figure out if/when we are going to take a break (thus outfit change) that day. With the 1:45 ADR, maybe we'll just try to wrap it up before supper time and when we go to the hotel...be done for the day. What do you think???

:cheer2: Woo-hoo for adding an extra day! :cheer2:

I read that Princess Tiana was debuting the week we are going which is very exciting. I wonder where she will meet - at DHS?

Love the new Maine pictures!

The character list looks great - the only other regulars I can think of are Jojo and Goliath in DHS, Genie in Morocco and Marie in France (assuming they still meet). A few others we have met in the last year or two but aren't usually regulars are Bert and Mr Penguin from Mary Poppins, Cruella DeVille, Chicken Little and Prince Philip.

Princess Tiana is not "meeting" per se. She is going to be on the riverboat at MK doing a show with other characters. She will sign limited autographs for pre-selected guests according to the news listing. She debuts 10/26 at WDW.

We met Jojo a couple of years ago but I thought she was gone now??? Maybe not. I've never met anyone else on your list! You've done good! Cruella is also at MNSSHP but does not sign then.

Costume Poll!!!

Apparently, Randy is disappointed that Aisling gets to be Sally and I'll be re-wearing my Dorothy costume from last year to MNSSHP. I bought him a brand new Jack and Zero tshirt but he's not happy with it...he wants to dress up!

So let's play dress up Randy! What can I dress him in that will look good with the pictures, be cool enough for Florida, and can easily travel in a suitcase???

Hmmmm, well, you know I am not the one to ask about it. Can he be a tacky tourist? I have seen some people mention that. What about that baseball player he looks like (sorry, not a baseball fan).

We have had to rearrange our costumes. Jackson refuses to be Ferb. I was running the high waisted shorts by him before I bought fabric and it was a no-go. To be fair, the kid wears (and always has) his shorts sooooo low. I don't know how he keeps them up. So our new plan is for me to be Ferb, nice. I am going to wear purple shorts (not high waisted) a white tank top and dye my hair green. OK, so now Jackson has agreed to be Phineas. Cooper wants to be Agent P- not Perry, Agent P. Mom is going to be Candace (as in white shorts/skirt, pink tank) and my dad is going to be Doofenschmirtz. Can't wait.

LOVE it!!! Can't believe you are dying your hair green!! I thought of spraying Ash's hair red but I would have to bring pillowcase to the hotel because there is no way I'm going to get her in the shower after MNSSHP and i don't want to ruin POPs pillowcases.

So I completely forgot to share this story.

Aisling being the genius that she is figured that she should ask Randy what her birthday surprise is. She has narrowed down that we must be driving or walking or taking a bus because your bday is only on one day and you can't fly somewhere and back in one day :rolleyes1

Anyway, Randy said ok...I'll tell you....we are going to Philadelphia. Aisling was speechless.

Fast Forward to last week when she was in Maine with my mom. My mom calls and tells me that Aisling thinks she is going to Hershey Park :confused3 Where did she get that from? Well 1) you can drive there and 2) she thinks Randy was giving her a secret clue when he said Philly. She explained that Philly is in PA and so is Hershey Park so we must be going to Hershey Park :rotfl2:

Add to that that she saw something on the travel channel that Hershey Park has a spa (I told her that she couldn't cut her hair because her bday surprise might include me and her going to the spa- she wanted to cut it before schools starts and if she does....BBB just wouldn't work as well)

How funny is that?!?!

The baseball player is a good idea! So is the tourist - my DH was an old man/tourist for a party last year and it was easy. He had on a wifebeater tank top with a Hawaiian shirt unbuttoned the whole way, old man looking golf shorts, a straw sun hat, a fanny pack and white knee socks with sandals

Who wants to play "where should the Smiths stay on our NEXT Disney vacation???"

You all know that I can't just plan one trip at a time...i need to think ahead. I mean...what happens if there is a great bounceback offer??? ;)

I convinced Randy that since we can't pull Aisling out of school anymore but I don't think I could live a year w/o Disney...we should go at the end of August. We usually go at Labor Day so the heat won't be any different to us. We won't be able to do MNSSHP but that's ok....I'll get a trip

So we are at a loss as to where to stay. We love love love love love AKL and would definitely stay there again. BUT I would love to try all of the resorts some day! I know we can't afford a monorail resort (or more that I can't justify the cost for a room we are barely in). I would love to try WL but I wonder how much Aisling would enjoy it??? So that leaves the moderates. Who has thoughts on the moderates???

Who wants to play "where should the Smiths stay on our NEXT Disney vacation???"

You all know that I can't just plan one trip at a time...i need to think ahead. I mean...what happens if there is a great bounceback offer??? ;)

I convinced Randy that since we can't pull Aisling out of school anymore but I don't think I could live a year w/o Disney...we should go at the end of August. We usually go at Labor Day so the heat won't be any different to us. We won't be able to do MNSSHP but that's ok....I'll get a trip

We're going for CSR next time. All the rooms will be remodeled and they have QUEEN BEDS now. Oh, and have you seen the Dig Site?

I'd go with Wilderness Lodge but that's just me.

What about the Port Orleans Resorts? They are so pretty!

I really need to start reading up on the other resorts. I'm particularly concerned with the bus situation with the bigger resorts. There is a sense of comfort knowing that I know all about AKL and POP and where to request a room and all that.

I've never stayed at WL so I can't comment on that.

I have to say I'm not a huge fan of the moderate resorts. I actually like the values and the deluxes too. The moderates are very spread out-it can be a hike to get to the food court-and taking a bus to get there would be a pain. I have however only been POR & POFQ. The photos of CSR and CBR do look nice. CSR has queen beds. The food court is different there-you'll have to read about that-many love it but not all. CBR offers prefered rooms that would put you closer to the food court. The pool was redone and looks really cool. They also have Nemo and Pirate rooms. POR has lots of fans on the Dis but I'm not one of them. I did however like POFQ-it is the smallest moderate resort so even the furthest room wouldn't be too far. The busses mostly pick up there first. The pool is cool. There is a boat to DTD. It doesn't have a table service restaurant but you can walk over to POR for that.

Hope you get a super bounce back!:wizard:

OOOH this is the info that I need :) I'm very concerned about the size of the moderates and the walks. I know I sound totally lazy! I walk around the parks all day w/o issue but when i get back to my hotel at night, I want to minimize the time it takes to get to my room!!! We pay for preferred at POP :rotfl:

On our very first trip with the kids we stayed at POFQ. We loved it there. It is a very compact resort with a great pool and the boat to DTD is a lot of fun and a great alternative to the bus.

We have stayed at POR several times but we prefer POFQ but at times POR was the only moderate with rooms available. We stayed for 3 nights at Coronado Springs and we hated it. It is huge and spread out and we had a room in one of the preferred buildings. It was a long walk to the bus stop and their food court is different and it takes more time.

For our upcoming trip we are staying at Caribbean Beach. All of their rooms are newly renovated. We are paying extra for a Pirate Room, the other rooms have Nemo on the bedspreads and the wallpaper border. I hope we don't have to walk too much at the hotel, but the Pirate rooms are the furthest from the food court. We are looking forward to the pool and Pirate themed room, we don't eat a lot of our meals in the food court so hopefully it will work out well.

I don't have time to log-in one night and look at all the activity I miss!

I tend to agree with lovesdumbo in that I have not found a reason to try a moderate yet. If I am going cheap, we love Pop and if not going on the cheap, we like Deluxe. We have stayed at AKL and WL. I think Ash would like WL - Jordan did. She actually has asked to go back to WL. The things we liked about WL were theming, room size, boat to MK as well as bus, proximity to MK. Things we did not like about WL - the size of Roaring Forks (the CS rest), bus service to other parks was sometimes slow (not bad though), hearing the electric water light pageant thing every night when we were trying to put Jordan to bed.

From the research I did on moderates when we were considering those, it seems like POFQ would fit our needs best with size, buses, etc.

Hope this helps!

We stayed at POR and I hated the busing. The same bus picks up at all the stops and sometimes that includes POFQ. Although POFQ gets on first. I found it was best to go to the first stop because you were guarenteed to get on but it meant an extra 10-15 of stopping at the other stops first. If you waited at the last stop you might not make it on to the bus. Sometimes they sent a empty bus just to the last stop but that was only after you had waited and not got on a bus.

Of course this is just my opinion. The resort is beautiful and if I had a car I might try it again.

We spent a couple afternoons at POFQ and really like it. However, like I said sometimes those poor people get on a bus and it heads over to POR before going to it's final destination.

So i was downloading pictures for my mother (she still can't figure it out no matter how many times i write it down- woman runs one of the biggest hospitals in the state and can't download pics off a digital camera ;) :rotfl2:)

No...I'm not talking about the fact that my mother PAID for a DOLL to have a cup of ice cream! I'm talking about the fact that the DOLL is wearing a Minnie dress and my DD is wearing play clothes from Kohls! :lmao:

This does tie into my PTR, I promise! My latest issue is this. Aisling has historically NOT been allowed to take the AGs on planes. Something about a $100 doll at an airport and potentially getting lost freaks me out. But tonight I hear her having a meeting with the dolls about who was going to get to come on her bday surprise (remember...she thinks we aren't flying :rolleyes1) SOOOOO do you think that I should allow her to bring the AG doll now that she's older and can keep better track of it herself???

Oh and speaking of the plane- I've been having major issues with SW. One of the best things about SW is that you can change your airfare w/o fees. Well I've been watching the airfare and it just keeps going up and up (remember- my original flight 1) gets us there DURING our scheduled ADR at CMs and 2) IS NOW ON THE WRONG DAY!). Today it went down a bit. So I figured that I better bite the bullet and re-book it (still more than I wanted to spend but oh well). So, I go online, click to charge my flight from MHT-MCO and the new price comes up for the flight. BUT it's also changing my return flight price :headache: So I call. Problem is that the cheaper rate is a web only. Booking over the phone would cost me the increased fare PLUS $150! No way. I finally ended up with a FAB agent who solved it by having me start the process of booking a one way flight, pause while he cancelled my original outbound flight and thus giving me ticketless travel credits, and then having me finish my one-way ressie using the credit.:banana::banana:

So we now are taking the 12:55pm flight out of Manchester which means that I'll still be able to surprise Ash at school, she will only miss 1/2 day the first day and if everything goes well...we'll be arriving by 4pm-which gives us plenty of time to ME to POP, check-in, and get to Chef Mickey's for our 7:45pm ADR. If we are running late at any point, I'll just take a cab to speed up the time!

Hi Kristine!

I'll weigh in, since you're asking us to!

1) AG Doll at WDW: Tricia begged and begged; finally I gave in and said that ONE doll could go. She loved having her doll for the first day or two, then she left it in the room because it became too much trouble to carry her around the parks. She has since opted not to bring a doll....

2) If you are leaning toward a deluxe, I vote for trying WL; its not as pricey as the monorail resorts. We stayed at the WL villas in '07 and the kids loved the lodge!! :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 Transportation was good and there is always that boat option to the MK! Oh, and the pool does have a water slide!

Do you have two trips planned? Did I miss something??

The doll will NOT be allowed to go the parks. She'll be strictly to play with one the plane and when we are in the room. It's hard enough keeping track of Puppy in the parks....which I'm hoping to avoid this year. Since she has gone to camp and gotten used to puppy not coming with her everyday (he has gone EVERYWHERE with her since she was an infant!), I'm thinking maybe I can convince her to let him stay in the room.

Since you haven't read my previous TRs...I will let you know that there are actually 4 puppies. There used to be more. One of them now permanently lives on the MK ;) Two years ago, I luckily brought 2 of them with us. We came out of the laugh floor and went back to our stroller and puppy was gone (as well as our mister). Now puppy has to wear a collar and leash in public with our cell phone numbers on it but according to Aisling- it was "itching" him so she took it off! When she noticed he was missing- I told her that he had to go potty and ran back to hotel room :confused3 :lmao: When we got to the hotel, Randy distracted her for a second and i threw the backup puppy in the bathroom. Aisling then went in and congratulated him for going potty all on his own ;)

I am so glad you had back up puppy with you! Good job keeping it positive for her. We left Chantae's favorite blankie behind at a water park once. She cried for nights. Of course housekeeping had tossed it because it was so well loved it was more of a rag than a blankie. Things like these are just not replaceable.

Good idea about leaving the doll in the room... its fun to see what mousekeeping does with dolls, stuffies, and towel creations. Sometimes they make such lovely vingettes!

We always fly with a backup puppy! We had to order his replacements from the actual company online. She does not know there are backups. We rotate them about every 2 weeks so 1) wash them and 2) make sure they wear evenly. I was soooo scared when we moved that she would discover the box I keep the backups in!

No real plans. Aisling has no school Monday and Tuesday, only goes to 11 on Wed and Thursday and then no school on Friday and Monday is the holiday! I figured since i would only be able to work a couple of hours, I might as well take the whole week off!

Aisling wants to go window shopping at AG Place, go to the zoo, make a scrapbook, do some sewing, go to the dentist (yes, that's a request!), visit her old day care, have 3 playdates, and swim everyday! Hopefully, we'll squeeze it all in!

Did you make a decision on the AG doll? I don't think I allowed my girls to bring them although they bought outfits for them in WDW. My girls liked the IDEA of bringing the dolls places, but then they'd get tired of dealing with the actuality of it and guess who got stuck carrying Elizabeth or Kaya or Samantha or....

3 - I also vote for letting her bring an AG doll but leaving it in the room.

I already told you we were going to the party. I will take lots of pics. Cooper is over the moon excited. My kids don't really like dessert that much, but have recently taken to ice cream! Cooper has been tasting anything and LOVES cheesecake. He also likes key lime pie. I can't wait to see what he is willing to try.

We are doing the dessert party on her bday! Which means that you make a mickey bar, ice cream, lollipop design that would 1) mean that you made all her "costume changes" for the day ;) and 2) that she would be changing 3 times (Snow White to last year's Cindy for 1900 PF to dessert party)....although the idea is mighty tempting! What a perfect bday outfit it would be!!!

Aisling went through her pins and decided they were all too "girly" for C and J. So she wants to buy them pins. Better send me a list of what they want (perhaps something they show interest in after you set a limit during your trip!!!). Aisling is on a mission to find them a perfect pin.

Woo Hoo for the dessert party!!

I am so excited for it. I don't know HOW I'm going to eat at 1900 PF and then go to that 2 hours later but I'll suffer through it :rotfl2:

So 4 days before school starts...Aisling wakes up screaming in pain and holding her ear. I didn't think it was an ear infection because she didn't have a fever. But between the lake at camp and our pool...I was thinking swimmer's ear.

Luckily I'm a social worker....not a Dr! We went to the emergency on-call Pedi yesterday. She checked the "good" ear first. Ear infection in that one. She checked the hurting ear...MAJOR ear infection. She could not believe that she hadn't felt pain before that morning. I guess it's really really bad. She gave me the good antibiotics and told me to immediately start giving Motrin alternating with Tylenol to stay on top of the pain.

Aisling was iffy yesterday. She complained a lot and didn't want to play or eat (you know she's sick then). Last night was a nightmare though. She didn't fall asleep until 4am!!!! :scared1: And that was with me sitting up and holding her against my chest! :headache:

She's still not herself today. THANK GOD she got this yesterday and we had a couple of days to get her back in shape before school.

We went to the dentist this morning for our regular appointments. Aisling needs another sealant :sad2: She has these colored spots on her molars that apparently were caused by medication I took while pregnant (I had pre-eclampsia!) FABULOUS! We decided to seal the teeth with the spots. But she's getting more and more of them. It drives me nuts while I'm brushing her teeth because it looks like she has little cavities..nope...not soft at all the dentist keeps telling me. She had one tooth done last year and it was breeze so we are doing another tooth now. We also got the great news that one of her 6 year molars appears to be growing in sideways. Since she's still 5 they won't due xrays so they won't know for sure until our next appointment. If it still looks crooked, we'll have to see an orthodontist and they'll decide what to do about it. My poor baby!!!

Not quite sure what we will do tomorrow for our last day of freedom before school starts. We'll see how the princess is feeling in the morning!

Okay, finally caught up. I figured I had better get myself on here to catch up BEFORE you actually leave! First off, just mentioning eating at yak and yeti makes my mouth water. I loved that place last year and cannot wait to eat there again. I'm majorly jealous.

Also, dissapointed that I missed you asking for a burger recipe. My favorite is to mix in blue cheese or bacon and cheddar into the meat before cooking. Yum!

Sorry to hear about Ash's night terrors. Makes me even more apprehensive about having kids! I'm glad that she's not having them on a regular basis. That would be awful!

Very cute Pooh custom and awesome AK custom! Maybe I should send you my measurements before our next trip.

I'm also inviting myself on your future Hershey Park trip. I only went once around maybe age 9 and would love to go back and stay at the Hershey Hotel with the spa. :cloud9: Hey, you would get a built-in babysitter!

I hope your enjoying your new home and that things are going well with Ash starting school.

Wondering what happened to you! We better start planning our Christmas shopping trip now before you disappear again!!

You are certainly invited to Hershey Park! I haven't been since I was 10 so it will be a whole new experience.

How are wedding plans coming?

We did a bleu cheese burger last year (Turkey Buffalo Burger). We ended up doing a Hawaiian burger this year. It was delish!

Poor Aisling! I hope she's feeling better. I've had one ear infection ever and it was as an adult. I think I had it so that I could sympathize with the couple of ear infections my younger 2 have had. OUCH!!

Sealants are good. My older 2 got them on their permanent molars as they came in. Extra insurance.:) Orthondontics at 5?! Oh my! I hope it doesn't come to that, poor kid.:sad2:

I used to have ear infections all the time as a kid. Let me tell you, you never forget that pain. I got one as an adult and called my PCP and told her I had an ear infection. She thought i was nuts. Guess who was right? :rolleyes1

I don't think changing 3 times in one day is excessive (as evidenced by the huge batch of shirts we are packing up now!). I will see if something happens to make its way into the bag.

So what type of pin should I look out for Ash? Jackson and Cooper are excited to "trade with a real girl". yes, my kids are weird.

She looked ADORABLE on her first day! And I agree with her, those are BOY clothes! My kids are the cousin in the picture. I ran into a college friend (that I didn't realize lived here) today and met her son, who was a full head taller than Jackson. Turns out he is just a few months older, both in 2nd grade. I am positive Ash is taller than Jackson and he is 2 grades (yet only 13 months) ahead of her!

It's funny you mention shopping because lately I've been thinking that we definitely need to get together this year and do that! You can always harass me on FB too if I disappear.

Wedding plans are pretty much non-existant except for a couple of ideas in my head. I'm in no rush whatsoever but it will probably be in 2011 so I have plenty of time to plan! It will NOT be at Disney though.

Glad Ash liked school. I saw her pics on FB. She is just so pretty!

Your projects look great.

I can't believe Ashling has started school already. We don't start until next week. But the teachers (me) had to work this week. My kids are starting to get excited. We were sharpening pencils last night.

I just convinced Dh to take me back to WDW in October. We're heading to MNSSHP on the 18th. Since you're the creative type with all your adorable sewing projects any idea for costumes? I need some help.

This week is actually LATE for most of US. The South has been back for weeks already. But I wish they could have kept it after Labor Day (next Monday) like they did when i was a kid. Makes the summer a little longer.

My only costume tip is that its must be comfortable, must not include face makeup that will just sweat off, and must be something that you can wear in Orlando heat. Toronto probably has similar weather to us for Halloween so most traditional costumes are WAAAAY tooo hot for Florida. A super easy one is to go as Mouseketeers. White Tshirt with your name and get a set of Mickey ears at the park. You could wear a skirt or capris with it.

My other tip is to go to the park at 4pm- not at 7pm. Get all the rides out of the way, eat dinner, and then when the party starts at 7...you are ready to roll!!!

Sewing projects look great - and you say you can't sew. I think you claim that you can't so Stacy will sew for you. ;)

I hope to use my newfound skills to make Jordan some outfits for our trip.

Jordan just got Ruthie for her bday (early present from Grandma) so she is so excited. She is having a AG tea party at a local tea room with her friends next weekend for her 6th birthday. Can you believe our babies are turning 6???

Dont' get me started. My mom was telling me that she read this thing that you are supposed to treasure the first 5 years especially because everything after that flies by! Great!!! At the parent night at school they had to bring up that you'll blink and they'll be graduating 8th grade :scared1:

Ruthie huh? Love her but scared of her hair upkeep!!!! Same with Rebecca! Glad Aisling decided NOT to ask Santa for a doll this year.

DON'T GIVE AWAY MY SECRETS TO STACY!!!! She'll never sew for Ash again! :rotfl2: I let her do all the things I can't do....good appliques, ruffles, and patchwork!!!

Someday I'll have an embroidery machine and will be able to do better appliques. Stacy tried some of Heathers and said that they are fabulous. They all line up perfectly the first time I guess....no babysitting the machine!

Departing : Tuesday 10/27/2009 for 5 nights
2 Adults,1 Child

Package Type: Pirate - Water View

WHAT is a Pirate- Water View Package???? :confused3 I called CRO and they couldn't tell me!

I posted the question on FB and the best answer I got was from my friend Jeanne who suggested that Johnny Depp might be in my tub at POP!!! :cloud9:

AND to add to the fun...tonight i checked my flights for the heck of it and my outbound flight went down $90!!! So now I have a $90 SW credit for a possible Disboutique reunion this winter!!!

They do grow up too fast! Jordan informed me the other day when I wanted her to use her Disney Princess lunchbox for school that princesses are a little babyish! :scared1: There seems to be an awful lot of mature girls in her grade that are allowed to dictate what they wear, etc.

She wanted Ruthie because she has Kit and Kit and Ruthie are best friends. Plus, Jordan looks like Kit and her best friend IRL looks like Ruthie.

I am just jealous! I need a Stacy to sew complicated things for me too!

I barely got the back to school dress finished in time. I just started her birthday party dress - I am using the red and white minnie dot so it can also be a trip outfit. Since I am new to this sewing thing and not very good I need to get as much mileage out of every outfit as I can! :rotfl:

Let's combine all the ideas shall we???

OK...DAY 1

Plan is to pick Aisling up at school at 10:30ish. We are telling her that she's being dismissed for her physical. She knows her physical is around her birthday so that won't be that weird.

The plan is to have Tink leave gifts in the car...perhaps in her car seat. I bought a reusable bag at the Disney Store that is decorated for Halloween. I figured it would play a dual purpose (holding Tink gifts and can be reused for MNSSHP)

I plan to have the actual camera...Randy the video camera. I really want to capture her response from every angle!

A quick stop off at our house to change out of her uniform and into her traveling outfit, consisting of:

These horribly appliqued jeans

http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg269/ksc565/Aisling%20Bday%20Trip/7735_1239580107755_1176866175_30775.jpg

This design on an iron on Tshirt (I still need to make the iron on Ts)

And these bows

Randy and I would most likely be wearing Ts with THIS design

After a quick change...we'll be on our way to Manchester Airport for a 12:55 Southwest Flight to Orlando :woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:

And then it's off to....

6 weeks left!!!!! :banana::banana::banana:

Here is the pic of the day! Monday is me and Randy's 7th wedding anniversary. For those of you who can do math...this means that I was very pregnant at our first anniversary ;) so we couldn't do anything too exciting. For our 2nd anniversary we took our first ever WDW vacation together. 11 month old Aisling stayed home with my mom and we battled WDW for the weekend. When I think of the craziness now. We only went for 3 nights! We only had two full days and one half day to tour! We did AK and MK the first day and Epcot & MGM (as it was then) on the 2nd. For the 1/2 day we went to DTD. We didn't have any ADRs and no touring plans! And the most shocking?!?! I only took 24 pictures the whole trip!!!! (I took over 2000 last year!)

Here is a pic from that trip!

Love the first day plans so far and can't wait to see and hear about Aisling's reactions! I think the jeans look great - the thought of trying to applique makes me go - :scared1:! Love the t-shirts too.

Miss camera queen! I can't believe you only took 24 photos on your first trip! Also, no plans, ADRS, etc! I have to admit - our first trip I had some ADR's but not all of them and I had basic plans but nothing too detailed. Now, on the other hand is a whole other story!

Looking forward to hearing about the rest of day 1 plans and seeing the photo of the day.

41 Days

Anyone ready for the rest of the day 1 plans? When i last left you...we were heading to POP.

http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg269/ksc565/Disney%202008/PopStar.jpg

Aisling made a weird request that she wanted her bday surprise to have something to do with PlayDoh??? Huh??? :confused3 :rotfl: Anyway, that works with POP so I've requested the PlayDoh building. Let's hope it works. I've stayed at POP for times and have never requested a certain building. Each time I've been in the PlayDoh building...so you know this time, I'll be in the 50s somewhere ;)

Plan is to check in at POP, get settled in, and head over to the Contemporary. If we have extra time, we might hit up MK beforehand to get Randy and Aisling's tickets (they don't have them yet). If we are going to CR...you know what that means. We are getting this party started to Chef Mickey's! :woohoo:

http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg269/ksc565/Disney%202008/ashdadmickey.jpg

We have a 7:45 ADR so hopefully that leaves plenty of time if our flight gets delayed.

Aisling will be wearing this

Bonus...the amazing shrinking Randy!!!

Randy is convinced that you can't tell that he's lost a lot of weight because he's so broad shouldered. I disagree! So I present you with the amazing shrinking Randy...taken at all our Disney anniversaries! Let me know if you see a progression

Well I was thinking of going the very last week of August (right before school starts). That way Aisling won't miss any school and we can go for a long trip (probably 9 days again). We won't have any cool parties to go to which will make me sad :sad2: The weather won't be that much different that the 2nd week of Sept when we normally go so I'm not that worried about that. I think the parks won't be as packed as the rest of the summer because most of the South is in school by then.

My biggest worry is that would mean a two week vacation from my job. I know that I'm going to keep taking off the first week of Sept because of Aisling's crazy school schedule the first week and because I have WAY more vacation than Randy does so it will always be me taking the week off.

It's REALLY difficult to take two weeks off here in a row. It's not an issue getting it approved. The issue is the prep work beforehand and the insanity when you return! I have to see all my clients at least once per month...you miss two weeks and that means two weeks to see everyone (which is impossible). Since it would be two different months technically...that would be somewhat easier. The bigger problem is supervised visits. When children are removed, part of my job is supervising their visits with their parents. Me not working for two weeks means that they don't see their kids for two weeks. You can imagine how thrilled people are to hear that! :rolleyes1

The other issue is that I'm banking on Aisling's school starting the Wed before Labor Day which is always does... but throw in a couple of good snow days this year and they may change that. I think you can amend your days and keep your code as long as you book WHILE at Disney but I'm forgetting. It's been awhile since I booked a bouncback.

AND I have to make a decision about where to stay!!! WL is in the running LL. I just don't know if it has enough to hold Aisling's attention.

Whew. That is a lot to consider. I used to work at a Foster Care Agency and I used to supervise visit so I know ALL about people not being thrilled when they can't see their kids. :headache:

It would be sad that you would miss out on MNSSHP but awesome that you can still go for another 9 day trip. When we went last year we were there for labor day weekend and the crowds were awesome, I'm sure it would be the same the last week in August.

I bet WL would keep her attention. The pool is a lot of fun, at least to me. Who knows though. You did AKL last year, right?

Glad you see are supportive of my craziness! I think that I'm going to do it. I can technically take a day off of work but go in for an hour and do my visits while Aisling is at school- does that make sense???

We stayed at AKL the past two years. We love love love it there but I really would like to try different resorts. I'm having a problem finding a Moderate that thrills me. The size of CBR and CS scare me. The Port Orleans hotels look pretty but something is not thrilling me. WL is definitely in the running and I think Randy and I would love it (and I'd be thrilled to be that close to MK). But then I was thinking....what about Beach Club???? ;) As you can see I'm losing my mind! Those Disboutiquers should NEVER have let me check out the Boardwalk when I was at WDW in February!!! :rotfl:

A few glitches to work out, yes, but the Free Dining bounceback is soooo tempting!! :rolleyes1

Kathy

It always is....bouncebacks get me every time. IF you cancel or change it, you know you have that free dining locked up! For two adults and 1 child for 8 days is $672 savings...not bad! We've lucked out with a couple of 40% off codes (which is a better savings than free dining at Deluxe hotels) so we've booked on bounceback and then changed it to the 40% off code. :yay:

Oh that does make sense, to go into work just to get visits done. I used to do that. It stinks but it's better than getting WAY behind.

You know where I really want to stay? BOARDWALK INN. I just love it, even the creepy clown pool. I just know it's way out of my range right now but I do price it out every so often. ;)

I think WL keeps my attention because it is so close to MK, it's fabulous to hop on a boat. And when we stayed there in September, we didn't have a problem with the bus transportation like others have complained about.

Aisling would love Stormalong Bay. :rolleyes1

New day...new idea!

So I've been thinking about the actual surprise. I've played it out in my head many times and I'm trying to think about the best way to make it work. As you know, the plan is for Aisling to go to school. Then we are going to pick her up- telling her that she has a physical and head to the airport. Now, two important things needs to happen in between. One...she needs to change out of her uniform! And 2...she needs to have her Tinkerbell surprise. It's totally part of our WDW traditions...as you may recall

http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg269/ksc565/TinkBasket.jpg

http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg269/ksc565/Disney/700474401405_0_ALB.jpg

http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg269/ksc565/Disney/400794401405_0_ALB.jpg

The plan was to have Tink's presents be in the car and for me to have my camera and Randy the video camera and catch the surprise. Two problems with this. One...it's really hard to take a pic/video of someone from the front seat to the back seat...holy closeup :scared1: And 2...it doesn't give us a good place to get her changed. We can't go back in the school because it's locked. So my plan was just to go home and have her change there (we live 2 minutes from the school). But that got me thinking :rolleyes1

WHAT if I kept up the game a little while longer? ;) What if I picked Aisling up from school, told her that she was going to the drs, and I casually "forgot" something at the house that I had to run in for? Randy could be inside with the video camera, I could have my regular camera right inside the door ready to roll??? I was also thinking that perhaps I could leave a note from Tink in her carseat saying that she's "bummed that Aisling couldn't come to Disney this year but wanted to leave a bday present for her at the house" and when I "forget" something we need for her "dr's appt", I say: "Well Ash you might as well come in with me and see what Tink left for you"

What do you think??? Do you see any holes in my plan????

I don't think I would put anything in the car. What if she figures it out in the car that she's going to Disney and you won't have your camera. Just tell she has to go in when you get home.

I think my ME docs always arrive before other documents. I wouldn't panic yet.

For next year-couldn't you just book 2 weeks at Disney and then change to "real" dates when you know them-well before the 45 day out time frame.

OK...won't waste a call to CRO then!

I could do that for the dates...didn't even think of that! I think I"d be terrified to see the final bill (even though I wouldn't be paying it...I might pass out from the shock!)

We like to hand them out to other kids who are looking like they need something to distract them! I also got a cheap Happy Birthday banner for a dollar and a glittery "6" candle.

Anyone have any suggestions for hanging up the banner? Should I get some of that putty we used to use in our dorm rooms?

Happy Sunday!!! We are now at T minus 32 days!

We had a busy weekend. On Sat, Aisling and I did some running around, went out for a girls breakfast (where I resisted the deLISH sound pumpkin pancakes for a boring omlette!) Then we were off to dance class. When Aisling came out of dance...she looked drunk. She was exhausted. we came home and she slept all afternoon. Should have realized that she was getting sick. We had dinner plans with my cousins. They are building a house in NH so we went to see the house. We made a fab dinner and brought it with us as a thank you (my cousin is a contractor and when the outlet to my pool filter went dead over the summer...he fixed it at no cost).

We had planned dinner and a Wii tournament. One game into Wii Bowling...Aisling was screaming in pain. She had a headache and stomach ache and was burning up. By the time we got home...she had a 102.2 temp. :headache:

She was up all night but got up this morning begging to see Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs. i told her that if she could make it though Mass okay...we could go. She made it through Church so we went to see the movie this afternoon. It was very cute.

In between Church and the movie...I ran to Target for some undercover "Santa" shopping. Aisling has seen a Princess set the other day that went on the list so I figured I better get it now. Toy Story Mania for Wii was also released this week. Both things you KNOW are going to sell out closer to Christmas...so I went and got them now

Now just a quick trip down to AG Place and Santa will be all done his Christmas shopping (I pick up little presents throughout the year so that the end of the year isn't one giant sticker shock!) :rolleyes1

Continuing on with my daily plan updates: Here is the plan for Day #2

This is technically the day we added on. If you remember, our original plan was to skip DHS entirely. We aren't getting park hoppers this trip. The only must do for Aisling at DHS is TSM. We've done the shows a lot and I'm not brave enough for her to try ToT and RnRC yet. She wants to go on them but we'll see ;) I'm afraid of her freaking out!

Sadly, Fantasmic is not showing this night. Which makes it even stranger that when I added on the day about 75-80 days out...i wasn't able to get a decent ADR for Sci Fi that day.

Let me say that DHS is my least favorite park. Because of that...we really haven't eaten TS there. Randy and I ate at Mama Melrose's years ago and it was terrible. With Aisling, we always end up at Pizza Planet. During the DISmeet, we ate at Sci Fi and I was pleasantly surprised. I've decided to stick with what I know for this trip.

BUT the only time I could get ALL DAY was a 2pm lunch when i first booked it :headache: I took it hoping to get a better time. I checked a couple of weeks later and still no dinner times but they had a 1pm lunch. So I switched it. I've checked a couple of times since then and nothing better came along. Again...really odd since there is no Fantasmic!

I noticed on Kathy's TR yesterday that she was able to change her times at DHS this week so I checked...Sure enough...they had a 5pm time  Early for dinner and this means that we won't be taking a break mid afternoon but that's ok. We'll hang out at the park all day, eat dinner, and then head back to the hotel for early night.

I really don't have much of a game plan for the day...other than I'm hoping to be at rope drop. Really hoping that we can grab TSM fast passes, hit the standby line and be able to save our passes for later in the day. Let's hope it works!!!

This is what Aisling will be wearing

With these bows

I didn't make it...another DISer did. I won it on a site that must not be named :wizard:

Well there you have it...our day 2 plans.

I love the Princess Dolls...though where is Mulan? Poor Mulan is missing.

Toy Story Mania for the Wii is so much fun. Marc, BIL, FSIL and I were playing last night. Too much fun!

I love Aisling's outfit, it's so beautiful. I need to have a kid so I can sew clothes. It's no fun when you don't have any to model them.

Mulan got the boot for Tiana. We actually have Mulan and Tink "barbie" dolls already so it works in our favor! I can imagine the parties we are going to have now that we have the whole gang!

Oh I'm glad the game is fun. It looks so fun. I want to play it now. One problem with Christmas shopping early!!!! ;)

I'm actually going to have a matching Minnie as Malificent Tshirt for DHS day. The outfit is GORGEOUS. I wish I had that much talent. I just don't have the discipline to practice to get any better at sewing!!

Be careful what you wish for on the kid front :rolleyes1

I hope Aisling is feeling better!

Wow on the Christmas shopping! I thought I was an early shopper! I will have to get TSM for Wii - I forgot that it was coming out soon.

Jordan rode TOT when she was a little over four and again at age 5 and was fine both times. I just explained that the pre-show stuff was just pretend and that she could close her eyes if she didn't like it. She loves the falling part. Have you ever done the Animation Academy? We really enjoyed that on our last trip. If you ever need another DHS restaurant suggestion, we really liked 50's Prime Time Cafe. The food was very good with large portions and the atmosphere is fun!

Aisling is doing ok. She woke up sining Mamma Mia so off to school she went. I hope she lasts!

Black Friday is when I usually wrap up all of my shopping (no pun intended). My family is so spread around that we celebrate early December with most of my family. The only people I can give presents to ON Christmas are Aisling and my inlaws :headache:

Aisling ran through the Animation Academy last time. There was a huge wait for the art lesson so we didn't do that. She enjoys the Movie Ride and the Backlot Tour so we'll do those. She LIKES the shows...don't get me wrong but if I had to pick a park to skip...this is definitely it. We haven't tried 50s Prime Time yet. I toyed with that for this trip but I thought she might think the car thing was pretty cool. And I didn't want to make a poodle (Pluto) skirt and you MUST wear that to 50s PT :rotfl: I'm sure we'll do ToT this year. I'm still nervous about RnRC. It really slams your head around. But Randy wants to take her on it so I'm sure I'll lose that battle :sad2:

Has anyone registered the Photopass Card they now send you with your travel documents with your name on it? It says if you register before you trip, you are eligible for special discounts...just wondering what the discount is???

Gosh, they get sick so fast and then bounce back just as quick! Glad she's feeling better.

"Weekend Update" gave me a smile... reminded me of the old SNL Not-Ready-For-PrimeTime-Players! Chevy Chase, Jane Curtin, & Gilda Radner used to do that skit ... so funny!

You young 'uns probably don't even remember them...

Ya it's weird...it's a regular PP card but has my name on it. It says to go online prior to your trip to register the card. BUT if I register it NOW, doesn't that effect my dates of when pics are available etc? The offers aren't sent until "during and after your vacation". My guess is that it's only worth it for the people NOT pre-ordering the CD.
