Hi All!

I've been MIA again...I know!!!

House inspection went well on Friday. We have a very thorough inspector and ended up being there for almost 3 hours! We had some minor things that needed to be done so we sent our list over today and we are waiting to hear back if they are in agreement. We are due to sign the P&S by this Friday. Friday afternoon we had to run over to the mortgage office to drop off all that information.

This weekend we spent most of the weekend window shopping for new things. If you don't live in Mass...we have this massive furniture store that has a restaurants, a Jelly Belly store, a trapeze school, indoor fireworks, and an Imax theatre...oh and a Home Depot attached. So we spent most of yesterday there. We bribed Aisling with Night at the Museum on Imax! It worked well. Then we headed over to Home Depot to get paint samples for Aisling's new room.

The whole house has hardwood floors. Their sons' bedroom (which will be Aisling's) was recently was carpeted in light green carpet. Since it's in great shape, we are leaving it. So we need a color that goes with the green. Luckily she decided on light purple paint so that should look cute. Literally, this is the only room we have to paint.

We've been shopping for a new living room set and stuff for the bathroom. There is a pedestal sink in the upstairs bathroom so I need a cabinet and one of those over-the-toilet space saver shelving units. They don't give those things away! :headache:

So that's what's up with me. I also did some sewing last night and whipped up 2 simple dresses from my friend's daughter...they are leaving for Disney on Friday. i will post pics soon!!

Awesome news with the house!!

I don't visit Jordan's enough. Only when Harry Potter movies are released in iMax/3D :rotfl2:

I think the purple and green will be so cute! So have you told her about the new house? How is she taking it?

How does one "whip up" dresses? Thats talent! :goodvibes

We had the preview for Harry this weekend. I need to see it in Imax. The preview scared the life out of Aisling because of the butt-kickers in the seats when Voldemart appeared.

She knows about the house because she's been there. Since we still haven't signed the P&S, we told her we "plan" to buy the house and will know for sure this week. After the inspection went well- we figured it was safe to tell her SOMETHING.

If you could see these dresses...you'd guess how you can whip them up! They are pretty basic. But my friend was thrilled with them so that's all that matters.

I am so glad the house inspection went well!:banana::banana: Any idea on when you will sign the P&S yet? Still crossing fingers for you and sending pixie dust your way until everything is finalized.

You know - I knew we and the girls had a lot in common but this is getting a little crazy. Please see the photo below of Jordan's room.

Thanks but if you could have seen the inside seams you wouldn't have said that. One dress I had to tear apart so many times because I kept making stupid mistakes! Oh well...looked good from the outside.

I know, I know! Can you believe that I haven't even ordered my MNSSHP tickets yet? I don't like being consumed with other things :lmao:

House has been going "FUN" shall we say! If you haven't been following the little drama on my FB updates, the inspection went well with a few relatively minor things to fix. The only big thing is the chimney needs to be re-pointed. P&S is supposed to be signed tomorrow and TODAY the sellers tell us that they don't have enough time to fix the chimney before closing so they want to just offer us $500 back at closing. Without an estimate!!! :scared1: Uh, no. Sooo my awesome agent got a person out there as we speak to do an actual estimate  So once we get an estimate, we can counter-offer (because you know this is costing more than $500) and hopefully we can all agree before tomorrow!

They assure me that the "fun" makes the house that much more appreciated ;)

And if you all could send a thought/prayer for my mommy! She didn't get the best of news at the Dr. today. She is seeing a surgeon tomorrow. Given MY cancer history (isn't that a weird role reversal), they are concerned enough to get her into see my surgeon tomorrow. So it's freaking me out a bit. I'm now almost 7 years cancer-free so I know how well these things can go...but I don't want her to go through this.

First off, prayers for your Mom that all will go well. I also hope everything goes well with the house negotiations too, $500 and call it even...nice try. :confused3

I didn't even know you had a pre-trip report going already. Loved all the pictures, I wish I had the talent to get pictures like that. We have a d-slr. I guess I just need to learn how to use it. It just seems overwhelming to venture into changing lenses and whatnot.

We have our MNSSHP tickets already. We are going on Oct 29th, we've never been and we can't wait. :cool1: Your mini-trip report from last year was great. Now if I can just figure out costumes for the five of us...the kids want everyone to dress up.

I think a shade of purple would go well with the green carpet. Is your daughter a Tinkerbell fan? Those colors definitely make me think of the fairies.

Looking forward to following along.

Prayers for your mom.

I think light purple will look good with the carpet. Will her room have a theme? It does kind of scream fairies. I am not big into the fairies though.

Hope all goes well with the house. I see now why you liked it, big disney fans!

Thanks for the prayers for mom ladies. She, of course, is calm as a cucumber. Drives me nuts :confused3

Still haven't heard back on the house negotations. The estimate came back at $1000 so they are definitely going to have to sweeten the offer. I'll keep you posted!

I know that the purple and green screams "fairies" but I'm thinking that I'm not going to "theme" the room. I might let her do removable sticker stencils of Tink but I don't want to paint Tink on anything. You KNOW that in a year, she'll change her mind.

Good eye Jessica on the Disney things in the boys room. They have them everywhere! Randy told me that I couldn't ask for them in the offer ;) :rotfl2:

Laura- you have to use your camera! You have plenty of time to practice. Randy and I have a good system down with changing the lenses really quick if need be. You'll never go back to your point and shoot!

I think kids seem to outgrow rooms so quickly now a days. Maybe a few accents of something (but not painted/wallpapered) would be cute! I am sure you'll have alot of fun decorating!

Does it have a sewing room?

No :sad1:

But if you want a yard in northeastern Massachusetts....you need to give up on the rooms! So no "man room" for Randy or sewing room for mommy! But the basement has really high ceilings so I think we might be able to finish it. If we do, I can get my sewing room! Or I can just dream of the day when I don't need a playroom anymore!!!

I'm with you on the kids changing their minds on their rooms. When we moved in my oldest insisted on a very pink princess room. We compromised with a salmon pink (thought that might be more appealing to an older girl later than cotton candy pink) then "decorated" with framed princess art. I framed a princess poster and several smaller princess pictures I cut out from a calendar my husband got at work (that's a whole other story :rotfl:). I figured it would be easy enough to change out what's in the frames when and if she changes her mind. So far so good. She was happy and so was I. :thumbsup2

I'm definitely strongly considering learning how to use our camera. My husband just starting looking at lenses. He's looking at a 50 mm lens. He has assured me that I am a smart woman and he has faith I can figure it out. :goodvibes Gotta love that! So, how did you learn? Any suggestions? I think I'm convincing myself to jump into this.

Bummer on the no sewing room...but the basement may have potential! I have a sewing closet. Our master has two closets. We are not clothes people so one closet is plenty of space. SO, I took the other one for sewing and craft stuff. Where there's a will there's a way!

How did I not realize you had a PTR?

I am praying for your mom, Kristine. That must be scary for you.

I think a light purple would be really pretty with the green carpet. Something with a hint of gray to it would look best. I had the perfect color of purple for that carpet in my bedroom in my last house. Henry wasn't too crazy about having a purple bedroom. But, when we sold it, that's one of the reasons the people bought it. She LOVED the purple walls! :rotfl:

I think the light purple would look nice with the green carpet!

Jordan's room has been purple and green since birth. We originally had a border splitting the colors that was butterflies and other bugs. It was very toddler-looking and I didn't want to repaint the whole room so in order to "age" the room last year we found the tink border that matched perfectly and just put it over the old border and added those peel-off tink clings to the walls.

Hope you get everything signed today for the house! And it sounds like you will get a craft room some day when you can finish the basement or when Aisling is too old for a playroom. Or maybe instead of a playroom you can talk her into a mommy/daughter craft room?

Sending prayers to your mom today!

Keep us posted on the house and your mom! (Cause you know that I would rather be on the DIS than doing the work that is sitting on my desk)

You should definitely get a 50mm before your Disney trip. If you click the links to my last two TRs, you can see the pics I took with them. The ride photos and all the fireworks are all taken with my 50mm. I got mine on Amazon. They don't cost a ton.

As far as learning, I took a photography course in college with a film SLR (counted as my "chemistry"...who could blame me!??! ;)). I stopped using it when we had Aisling because you really need digital with kids. I got my DSLR last year. I still had some basic knowledge from my course so I just kinda played with the new camera to get the hang out it. I would still like to take a course to get better.

Thanks Heather. Mom is having surgery on Tuesday. Keep the prayers coming.

The master bedroom is red in our new house. Nice dark red- not clown red. And it has white molding. We are keeping it. Here's a pic...try to ignore Randy being a total slob. This was during the inspection so he was climbing around with the inspector.

I think we are finally in agreement with everything on the house! They are writing up the final (95th probably!!!) copy of the P&S and hopefully we'll be able to sign it this afternoon!

I posted above but my mom is having surgery on Tuesday. She's a little freaked out now because they are doing the surgery so quickly but that's how this surgeon operates (in the literal and figurative sense!). She's done all of my surgeries besides my c-section and she's always done them within a week. She's fabulous.

I would love to have a mommy/daughter craft room but this child is spoiled...bottom line. My mother actually took her into AG Place when I was in Florida and told her to pick out "anything she wanted"...my mother likes to spoil like that! My mom plans to take her the weekend we move so I'm hoping I can make some of the toys magically disappear while she's gone!

Random question for mommies or people who know mommies...

Has anyone had to go to a training so they can volunteer in their kiddos classes or go on field trips? I got an email from Aisling's new school this morning telling me that I have to go to a 3 hour training class entitled "Protecting God's Children"- which I find ironic since I'm a child protective worker for the Commonwealth! I could teach the class!!! Anyone know what these classes discuss for 3 hours???

The real fun is when Randy has to go! I'm used to sitting through "less-than-stellar" trainings. Randy can't go with me next Sat so he's going to have to go to one of the fall sessions by himself ;) I would say that he's going to pull his hair out but we all know my dear husband doesn't have much hair left. ;)

That class is the silliest thing I've ever heard!! As if being a parent isn't training enough! I do think they need to talk with parents more about keeping a better eye on kids on field trips. But, it sure wouldn't take 3 hours to do it!!

I wholeheartedly agree. As a teacher myself, I know there are parents I prefer NOT to take with me.

Our Volunteers have to have a current criminal check on file but no 3 hour training. I can't imagine what they are going to tell you for three hours. Do you suppose there is a test involved at the end?

Mom Update!!! My mom had great news from the Dr today. They think they got everything and no further treatment is needed! :yay: Thanks for everyone for their thoughts and prayers

This is going to be a crazy week again. Work has been completely nuts and I've been busy packing up my house in anticipation of our closing on the 26th :woohoo: The appraisal was done on the house today and my real estate agent went along and reported that all the work was finished on the house that we had asked to be done after the inspection!!! :cool1:

Other than that, I will be having a "birthday celebration" for my friend Becky on Thursday. For people who have not been long-term readers of mine- Becky is one of my two best friends. She passed away a little over a year ago. Thursday would have been her 32nd bday. Two of my other good friends who live locally made a plan when she died to have a yearly birthday party for her at a restaurant she enjoyed. Try explaining to a waitress that you are celebrating a birthday for a person who is not there! Plus we include two other good friends who live in California by calling them during the party for a toast. The waitress must have thought we were nuts! Thursday will be her 2nd posthumous bday party! It's a little odd but it helps me get through the sadness of the day- part of the deal is that nobody is allowed to be sad during the celebration...only good memories. She left behind two little girls (my goddaughters) so hopefully when they are old enough- I can include them in the fun.

So that's my week in a nutshell!! I'm hoping to get some squeezed in there too :thumbsup2

Hi All!!!

I actually have a trip update today!!!!

I came home tonight and guess what was waiting for me?!?! A PIN CODE!!! for AP holders!!!!! I didn't even realize it was just for AP holders until I called the number (it was the AP line). Which means I was able to rebook our trip onto one ressie. You may remember that I had to book it as 2 separate ressies to get the best rate when I first booked it. So now it's all one so no more danger of having to switch rooms after the 2nd night...PLUS I was able to add the DDP without having to buy any tickets :banana::banana:

OH and I got my MNSSHP tickets while I was on the phone with them!

WOO HOO! Much easier with just one reservation!

It's funny because I was just thinking that we hadn't heard from you in a bit and then you post! :rotfl2:

I'm alive...just in packing hell!!!

You'll appreciate this. Disney had the wrong address for me in the computer AGAIN!!! Seriously, I think they think I'm two separate people. They had my mom's address and email address AGAIN! (But yet the pin code got mailed to MY house) So again, I asked them to change it. But this time, I had them change it to my NEW address. So who knows where my stuff it getting mailed now :headache:

Thank you! Was the book set in Ireland??? Only place that the name is popular. We have a few here in Boston but even here it's pretty uncommon. It means Dream or Vision. Named my kid dream and she didn't sleep through the night until she was 2 1/2 ;):rotfl2:

Well the book was not set in Ireland. But they were descendants of a Celtic seer so they were of Irish descent. I never new what the name meant, but that makes it even prettier. princess:

It was a nightmare...let me tell ya! My DH works nights so I had every night shift with her. To this day, she still doesn't really sleep well. She sleeps through the night but requires very little sleep. Too bad I require like 9 hours ;) :rotfl:

Thought of you today...I did a NICU discharge.

ADR ISSUE!!!

Who wants to help me solve my ADR/park choice issue?!?!

So our plan is to get to Disney at some point Friday (I have flights booked but DD may have a 1/2 day of school that day which means I'll be rebooking for an earlier flight). We won't accomplish much on Friday. Sat will be MK all day. Sunday the plan is to go to AK in the am, go back for a rest/swim, and get back to MK at 4pm for MNSSHP. Monday we plan to do Epcot all day for Food/Wine (Randy is still dreaming that Cat Cora may be there!!!) and then Tuesday we were planning on going back to MK, lunch at Crystal Palace, and then heading home. I even spent $16 on overpriced fabric on :wizard: that had Halloween Pooh and Characters for Crystal Palace. BUT, now I'm debating if we should go to DHS....:confused3

DHS is our least favorite park (which is why we were skipping it) but Aisling has been talking (A LOT) about wanting to ride TSM "first thing" when she goes back to Disney. I'm afraid if I don't plan any time at DHS, she might be upset. And if I make a Pooh outfit and we got to DHS...I'll be upset ;)

Since it's our last day, we wouldn't be able to do too much at DHS (like any of the shows) and Aisling's still afraid of ToT. I'm not sure if I'd let her go on RnR yet (she's tall enough but I'm thinking she might get nervous). So it would be like going to DHS JUST to ride TSM (and we would probably have lunch at Sci Fi) I also like to relax in the am of our check out day but we all know that we'll have to be at DHS at rope drop if we want a chance of riding TSM!

What to do, what to do???? These are the issues that arise when you are planning a surprise :scared1: (didn't mean to rhyme there...sorry!). I know that I'm the mom which means I get to make the plans and tell her what they are but this is her birthday trip :confused3:confused3:confused3

Why not make it a real fun last day and RUN to DHS to ride TSM in her TSM custom. Then RUN out of the park and HOP on over to MK and eat with Pooh but of course you must change clothes first! Then you can RUN to the airport!
Aisling would be on :cloud9: but you and Randy might be going

Thought of that!! (because I'm crazy like that) BUT since we are only going for 5 days (only 4 park days really), I wasn't going to buy Ash and Rand park hoppers. Seems a little silly to pay an extra $110 for hoppers for one day! Then again, I just paid $163 for what boils down to 5 hours at MK for MNSSHP tickets!

jessica52877

I wouldn't buy hoppers either. Never really thought about that part of it. We always have had them up until February. The price is just too much. I haven't decided on MNSSHP yet. I say every year that it is our last year to go and somehow the next we keep end up going.

Hmmmm. What to do, what to do. Tell her it's broken? ;)

I think it would be silly to add park hoppers for just this one thing. Do you think that she would even remember with the excitement of her birthday surprise?

We've always had them too but going this short of time and not planning on going to DHS, I figured we should save the money. Since the only other day we planned to hop was the day we are going to AK and then MNSSHP, we won't need the hoppers because of the separate tickets for MNSSHP.

I would hope that she wouldn't but you never know with this kid! We usually spend 3 full days at MK so that's why I was thinking that we'd go back there on Tuesday.

When we asked her if she ever went to WDW for a weekend- what two parks would you pick- she said MK and Epcot but then she threw in the whole TSM curveball!

Good idea about telling her it's closed!!!

I honestly think that it will be such a suprise to her that she will be happy with whatever you do. I wouldn't add on the hoppers but that is just me. Magic Kingdom has the most things to do for you guys it seems, so I would stick with going there. :thumbsup2

Three days at MK does seem like a lot. I figure you'll get most of what you need to get done during the party anyhow so you might be able to cut out some time there.

Then again I never do park hoppers as with five people paying $250 to hop seems too great a price especially when you are already paying for the halloween party on top of the tickets.

I think I would consider doing the studios because TSM is such a great ride and the sci fi dinner really is super fun as well. I'm not all that fond of that park overall but you could always find something to fill the time with. What about the new AI show. Would she like that too?

I was wondering why I hadn't heard from you. Turns out my subscription was undone! All better now.

I agree with others, don't bother with the park hopping. Do you think she'll remember TSM once you get there? I doubt you'd want to waste a whole day at DHS just for one ride. I'd say skip it and tell her its down due to technical difficulties :thumbsup2

How many days do you do at MK??? Clearly your kids don't ride every ride 25 times like mine does! POTC, HM, Splash Mountain, Space Mountain, BTMRR, People Mover, Buzz, and the Laugh Floor she had to do MULTIPLE times. Thus the 3 days!

It's been another crazy week and I'm sure the weekend will be even more nuts! Today is Aisling's last day at Day Care. She's been there since she was 3 months old so it's very bittersweet for us. But, it's time to move on.

Tomorrow night I am getting a packing break :banana::banana: I'll be "Hangin' Tough" with some local boys :rotfl: That's right...I'm 32 and going to a New Kids concert!!! I am so excited. I'm going with my cousin who I went to my first New Kids concert with like 20 years ago. Now if the Boston weather would turn around...it would be a lot better. Concert is outside and it's been cold and rainy for almost all of June (the average temp for the month was in the paper yesterday...62.2!!!) Luckily, I have plenty of rain ponchos for Disney so I think I'll be dipping into my stash!

I found a funny flair on FB today that I thought I would share:

Boy Bands or Disney: I don't know which one messed me up more about men :lmao:

Hi there!

I have not been DISing for a few weeks so I am slowly catching up on all my threads.

I know I posted a quick note on FB but wanted to say congrats on the house again! Hope you are getting settled in. Moving stinks! We had to move a bunch of stuff around yesterday since we are getting some painting done and that was a pain - - I don't even want to think about when we find a new house.

:banana::banana:So glad to hear your mom is doing well and does not require any further treatment.

What a great way to honor your friend and to keep her memory alive. When they get older, I am sure her daughters will really appreciate that.

What great news about the pin code! I received a pin code too but it is the same time as free dining which I think would be a better deal. Plus DH says no Disney for awhile.

That is crazy about Aisling's school! We have to have a background check - both criminal and child abuse and if you are going to volunteer a lot you have to have the TB test but that's it. I have never heard of three hours of training. Maybe that is the difference between private and public school?

That's a tough decision for your trip! We always spend the most time at the MK but on our last trip we actually did two days at DHS instad of one since there are so many shows/times you have to worry about plus rides. Since we had two days there, we actually did things we didn't get to on our first two trips like One Man's Dream, the Animation Academy (which was fun), Lights Motor Action, HSM, The Great Movie Ride, etc. Plus, we loved Toy Story Mania! Either choice will be great and I am sure Aisling will have a great time no matter what you do.

I know you had fun at NKOTB (except for your injury). I can't believe they are touring again. I used to love them when I was in high school.

Hope all is well and you are not pulling your hair out. Thanks for helping my avoid all of the piles on my desk for a little while!! (Because we all know that procrastination will make the issues go away - lol)

I THOUGHT my computer would be back up Tuesday but my internet service provider (not naming names ;) COMCAST) had other ideas! We JUST got internet back. My husband's friend who does IT work came over and figured it out. I spent 3 hours on the phone with Comcast yesterday trying to solve the issue. He was able to manually reboot everything that Comcast supposedly does remotely and figured it out in 20 minutes. They kept telling me my computer was broken. Um no...its up and running...it's definitely not broken. But they wouldn't believe me :confused3

Look at my ticker!!! My ADR date is almost here!!!! Do you think my DD's school MIGHT give me a hint about the school schedule???? I ended up caving in this morning and emailing the vice principal and let them know that Aisling would be missing a few days of school in October but we are trying to "minimize her time out of class" so I need to know if the Friday before her bday is going to be a half day. Aisling's cousin already attends the school and the past 2 years, that Friday has a been a half day. Which means, if it is, we are changing our flights and flying out earlier so we can actually do something on Friday. She is missing Monday and Tuesday so I don't want to pull her out Friday. But if there is a half day :rolleyes1:rolleyes1:rolleyes1

Doesn't that silly school know that I NEED this info ASAP??? :rotfl:

So as we can see Friday is still up in the air. But if we get there early enough- I'd like to do Chef Mickey's. Anyone know what time CMs serves dinner until?

Sat is Aisling's bday so we must do MK. I'm planning to make her an ADR at BBB. Question is...do we do breakfast beforehand? In theory, if we can't do dinner on Friday at CMs- that would be the best logical choice for a bday breakfast. But since this is such a short trip, I don't know that I want to spend all that valuable park time eating/doing getting BBB-ed. So now I'm thinking breakfast type snack in bedroom, early BBB ressie, rope-drop at the Castle, hitting up Fantasyland, then going to the Plaza for a real breakfast. THOUGHTS???? Does anyone know if you can get your bday card before park opening? I'm assuming that you can since you need tickets to get into the park if you have a morning ADR.

Sunday the plan is to do AK in the morning, lunch at Yak & Yeti, back to the room to rest/swim, get ready for MNSSHP, MK for MNSSHP.

Monday we plan to do Epcot all day. Food and Wine will be going on. Do you think I should aim for lunch at Le Cellier and then dinner somewhere else in Epcot or just try to get dinner at Le Cellier? I'm having issues with Food and Wine. I think the "food" is more like little bites of stuff so not really a meal. Anyone know for sure?

Tuesday was the day I was having an issue with but i think I'm going to take everyone's suggestions and pretend that TSM is down for service if Aisling asks and go to MK. We fly out at 7pm which means ME will be picking us up around 4pm. Plenty of time to do whatever "repeats" she wants to do at MK.

Schools in my area have their schedules done a year in advance, so it should be really easy to tell you if that day is a 1/2 day or not.

Chef Mickey's serves until 9pm. I don't recomend an 9pm if you really want to eat. The 2 times I've tried 9pm the food wasn't good, but the character interaction great.

You can get the birthday card before park opens. As long as the guest services is open at the parks (I think they open at 7am)

the food at F&W is little bites from 4-7 a pop. It's crazy to plan a meal on that. So much of it is exotic food that if you're a picky eat at all, you'll have a tough time finding food and the lines get long at certain times of day.

If you don't mind starting your day early you could try for a 7:30am Chef Mickey's Breakfast and then a 9am BBB. Since you plan on going back to MK later in the trip you can get the rides that you miss.

Thanks for all the advice!

9pm at CM's??? Ya, I wouldn't be going that late. I was thinking of making a7:30ish ADR just in case our flight gets delayed. There is a MNSSHP that night so no WISHES or anything afterward.

Ok so definitely not planning to eat "lunch" at Food and Wine. Le Cellier it is...now...what for dinner? DD is SOOO picky. We could always walk to the Boardwalk and come back for Illuminations....hmmm. :rolleyes1

Timing everything for this trip is really making this more challenging! Our last trip was 9 days...way easier to get everything in!!! Plus, DD has always been a child who goes to bed very late and then sleeps in late. We've never made it to rope drop as a family! BUT now that she's in camp, she's kinda operating under normal kid schedule bed by 8pm/up at 6:30am. Don't know what she might want to do for vacation! Certainly can't ask her ;) I'm going to guess that she is going to be well used to waking up early after a summer of camp and the beginning of the school year. Maybe we could do a breakfast at 7:30???

She's baaaccckkk!

Your school should know the schedule already for October (call/e-mail the secretaries - they usually know more) and should be able to tell you but I say pull her out of school Friday even if it's not a half day. It would only be three total days out of school and it's kindergarten - how much could she miss? Plus, she seems like a smart girl so she probably already knows what they will still be going over in October. We pulled Jordan out of kindergarten for a week last year with no issues.

As for schedule, after a summer of camp and two months of school, I agree with you that Aisling will probably be on the get up early go to bed early schedule for good so I would plan for that.

BBB and meals - that's a tough one. We have had long experiences at BBB and short ones. The early appts do seem to move pretty quick especially the ones right at 8am or so. It also depends on the FGIT and how good/experienced they are. I would say do the BBB and try for a character meal Friday night. We often do a snack in the room/at the bus stop for breakfast and then a late real breakfast/lunch at a character meal/restaurant and that plan has worked well for us.

Le Cellier for lunch sounds great! We loved our lunch there. I would say do that for lunch and wing it for dinner. I know we were very full after our lunch there so you may be happy with snacks from food and wine for dinner. You could always make a dinner ADR and then cancel it if you change your mind or there are good CS restaurants at Epcot if you don't want to do the Food and Wine thing or ADR thing.

Okay...after all that rambling I think I was no help at all! :rotfl: Good luck with the planning!

I would do this...and trust me, my DH is voting for this option too...but Aisling is going to one of THOSE schools. You know the ones. The ones that apparently don't trust your judgement as a parent. The ones who will FAIL a 5 year old rather than let you take a family vacation. Yup, that kinda school. Frankly, for the almost $8000/yr I'm spending to send her to the school and their afterschool program, you'd think that we could decide to pull her out of school for a week if we wanted. I haven't gotten the actual paperwork but I think she can't miss more than 5 days. If I pull her out in October for 3 days, that only leaves 2. :confused3:confused3:confused3

And now that I'm burying myself out of boxes...I have sewing to do!!!!

I still have to come up with something wonderful for Epcot and AK. I have to make a traveling day outfit but I think I'm stealing an idea from a fellow Disboutiquer (she gave permission...don't worry!), I have to make something for Crystal Palace (planning to do lunch there our last day) AND I have to make Snow White's rag dress for pre-BBB!

Luckily my sewing partner in crime Stacy is making Aisling's MNSSHP outfit and her BBB Snow White outfit. I'm hoping that her Cindy outfit from last year will fit again for 1900 PF. I need to find something for her to wear it to so I can try it on! Got to be as sneaky as possible

Gotcha! Jordan's school only allows for five days of excused absences for family trips. However, she can have any number of excused absences for illness and of course a few unexcused absences before they give you too much trouble.

Good luck with that and all of the sewing! Aisling sounds like she is going to have more costume changes than Cher!

I made my first two dresses ever over the weekend! They are nothing compared to what you Boutiquers make but considering I haven't touched a sewing machine since 8th grade until these dresses and I am pretty sure I got a C in the class I am pretty proud of them!

Looking forward to how you get everything worked out - don't forget you have to fit a DISmeet in there too!

Oh and "Cher" changes twice per day at Disney. On her bday she'll change 3 times- our most excessive yet!

You are making a preBBB Snow White rag dress? Will you adopt me? :rotfl2:

So what are you going to do next year? Are you going to vacation with the masses?

I feel for you not having Aisling's school schedule. I'm lucky that we get Billy's a year in advance and Tricia's three years in advance!!

Gosh, if only we could get our park hours and EMH schedules like that! :thumbsup2

What a lucky girl Aisling is!

Here is my first dress - not the best pic to showcase the dress but the only one I took so far.

I do plan to make a PreBBB snow white rag gown. Because I'm that crazy. She will literally wear it on the bus and walking down Main St. Needless to say, it's going to the bottom of my sewing list. If I have time, I will attempt to make it. Issue is that I need to sew when she's not around since she will certainly question why I'm making the outfits!

So jealous! They gave us the schedule for the first week, the summer reading list, and the school supply list for the class room (yes I did say summer reading for a child entering K!!!). That's all we have so far. Nothing about afterschool program, lunch program, etc. I can't be the only obsessive planner around can I???

Posted this on Kathy's PTR today. Decided to post it here too and have a poll what on this list I should do on this trip

Confession time...I have NEVER done the HOP. Unless I did when I was little but I definitely don't remember it!

Other things that I've never done at Disney as an adult

Country Bears
Main St Vehicles
Tiki Room
Tom Sawyer Island
Astro Orbiter
Race Cars
American Adventure
Ellen's Energy Adventure
Movies in China, France, Canada
Circle of Life
Lights Motors Action
Journey in Narnia
Sounds Dangerous.

Also never been to the waterparks or the mini golf courses!

This year I finally- made it to the Boardwalk, rode the Riverboat, rode Living with the Land, and rode CoP so there is always room for improvement on every trip!

Any thoughts on which one I should pick to do on this trip as my next "First"??? In fairness, the ones at DHS, waterparks, and mini golf are not up for discussion. I need to stick to some part of my original plan

Since our DD's are almost the exact same age, I will tell you her favorites off of the list -

She loves Tom Sawyer Island! She also really enjoyed the horse drawn carriage down Main St (Main St Vehicles) and she likes but I would not pick Country Bears and Tiki Room.

:headache: So mad :headache:

Heard from DD's vice principal this morning. There is a brand new principal coming on board this year and due to this- they haven't made a schedule. And anticipate that they won't have it ready until Mid-August!!!! :scared1: Are you kidding me? I told her that I would be making plans w/o the schedule then.

So what does everyone think...should we:

1) Keep our original dinnertime flight on Friday anticipating a full day of school

2) Pull her out Friday COMPLETELY (although thus missing another day of school plus the whole surprising her at school thing) Flight is at 8:00am so we'd be to Florida at 11am and would have a whole additional day

3) Let her go to school Friday morning and pull her out early for the 1pm flight (she'd have to leave about 10:30ish)- we'd be there at 4pm and would be able to do a later dinner at Chef Mickey's

And to think I am upset that I can't get next years schedule! That is rediculous!

My answer was going to be to send her half a day so it counts that she was just there and just a tardy vs a missed day but it seems as if flilghts don't cooperate for that. SO, change all your plans and come earlier in the month!!

I don't know how your school works, but if a child is present at 10 a.m., they are counted present for the day. If they leave early, it is a tardy. So, I'd pull her at 10:30 for an "appointment" (you don't have to say it is with an airplane!)

I think that I'm going to take Piper's suggestion and take her to an "appointment" (that lasts a couple of days!!!) and dismiss her early. I think it should count as her being present. I think surprising her at school with all the bags in the car would just be so much more fun.

Question of the day! Of course, ticket prices are going up in August again. I have my AP so I'm all set but Randy and Aisling need tickets. I can't add tickets to my package because I have an AP package. SOOO I need to either buy tickets in person at gate prices or buy from Undercover Tourist or the like. Anyone use ticket agencies before? Is it weird that I'm annoyed that we are all going to need two cards to get into the parks? I love the concept of KTTW cards having EVERYTHING on them!

Lady Lallie

More thoughts....

If we get in at 4pm- would you chance at 7:30 ADR at Chef Mickey's? This would require getting there (hopefully on time), ME to POP, check-in (which we would need to get our DDP credits), and getting to CMs (we would probably take a cab to cut the travel time).

Yes..I mean our flight is landing then. Last time Sept it was 2 1/2 hours from landing to arrival at our hotel. February I was there in under 45 minutes. Stupid ME can be a gamble. But I really don't want to pay for a cab from the airport.

Even if it is 2.5 hrs this time, that still gives you an hour to get from POP to Contemporary. I still say do it. If it gets too late you can always call DD and tell them you are stuck at MCO and have to cancel your ADR.

I definitely say chance the 7:30 ADR - you should have plenty of time.

Have you given any though to hiring a car service to pick you up at the airport and to take you back to the airport? This will give you a lot more WDW time on both ends of the trip and it is not very expensive. We did this our last trip and it was great! I think we paid $130 plus tip but we needed a van for five people plus luggage - you guys can fit in a car and I remember cars being cheaper than a van when I was pricing it out.

We used to do the towncar thing before ME came to be. I did like it. Best part was the grocery stop. I loved being able to go to a store and get some stuff for the room at non-Disney prices. BUT, I do like having the extra $100 plus in my pocket for spending too :)

Aisling just said last night "next time we go to Disney we can take the bus to watch the movie right?" No clue why she thought of it but I think she'd be pretty disappointed in the towncar after ME!

That being said, we did have a towncar service at HOME after our last trip. It was great. They sent an actual limo. Cost $70 with the tip but well worth it. Parking at Logan is $25 day. So for a 9 day trip, that saved us a bundle of cash. My mom dropped us off but we flew in late night and I didn't want to ask her to do that.

Thank you! It's mostly unpacked. Still some boxes of stuffed animals in the playroom that I'm waiting to unpack until Aisling notices that they are unpacked!

You moved 8 days before having a baby???? Yikes!!! My BFF did that. She actually went into labor last year when she was moving and didn't tell her husband until after everything was moved in and all their help went home!!!

Love the house and what a nice big back yard!

Thank you!

Thank you...we are actually going to be doing wainscoting the kitchen to go over that brick. When the previous owners renovated the house- that was the last project that they never got to.

OK...so so far we have:

Friday night- late dinner at Chef Mickey's

Sat- early ressie at BBB (after we pick up the bday card to pay for it ;)) , breakfast and lunch CS at MK, dinner 1900 Park Fare

Sunday- breakfast in room, lunch ADR at Yak & Yeti (paying "oop" with Mypoints points), dinner CS at MK, MNSSHP

Monday- breakfast in room or CS at POP, CS lunch at Epcot, Dinner at Le Cellier

Tuesday- breakfast in room, lunch at CP.

Looks great!! :thumbsup2

I'm with the others... if you're running late, you can always cancel your Chef Mickey's ADR. Just don't tell Aisling about it ahead of time in case you do need to cancel.

What a fantastic birthday surprise! My son is turning 6 this October too. None of my children have been to Disney yet, so this fall will be amazing for them. I have been reading lots of trip reports, and getting all kinds of ideas. Probably too many ideas for three days, but it's fun to imagine anyway! I am looking forward to reading about your trip as it unfolds. Thanks for sharing it!

I'm in a Disney shopping RUT

This is usually the point of the year that I start going nuts buying stuff for Disney. But I think that I officially own everything I need: Multiple pairs of Crocs (check), Bagallinni (check), O2 Cool Personal Misters (check), DSLR and all the bells and whistles (check).

I can't find anything to buy and shouldn't I be excited about that in this economy? :confused3 Nope...I'm disappointed. :lmao: I truly need help!

I would love to come when you guys are there especially since it will be just me and Jordan!!! I think the girls would get along great! But we were already planning to pull her out of school later in the year for another vacation (one for my non-Disney DH) so if we do WDW I probably need to hit at least one day where school is closed. I can pull her out five days per year no problem - but after that they are unexcused absenses (or you call them off sick). I was looking at right after you leave (10/31 - 11/4) because her school is closed Tues 11/3 for election day (the schools are the polling places in our town) and I really want to go to MNSSHP - we have never been to it or WDW that time of year. I don't know what to do!!!! Plus we are in the process of buying a new house and listing our house for sale which will then mean moving! I'm done rambling now!

Thanks for dancing with me ladies...you know how embarrassing it is to dance alone ;)

Jen- That's a hard call!!! I don't know what I would do. MNSSHP will be very packed on Halloween but what a great night to do it on! How is the housing market in your area? Would it be possible for you to sell your house and find a new one before October?

I think the last MNSSHP is 11/1 so I would probably go to that one. Too much missed school is the main reason we wouldn't go. I promised DH a trip this winter and don't want to short-change him so we can take another trip to WDW. Why oh why could I not be married to a Disney lover!!!

We are taking a second look at a house we like tonight and are listing ours next week. I think our house will move pretty quickly because we live in the most desired school district in the area and we have updated everything in the house. Problem is we need to sell ours to buy a new one and we can't offically make an offer on the one we like until someone wants ours so it will be all about timing. If someone buys the one we like out from under us, we have to find another one we like (which took two months the first time). So I am guessing that was way more information than you needed! :lmao:

I have been dying to try at fish eye at Disney and this sealed the deal. I'm going to rent one!!! The lens costs about $1000 but you can rent it with insurance for $100 for 2 weeks. Wonder what else I could rent??? (where is the chin scratching smilie???)

My mom took me to NYC when I graduated from HS many moons ago. It was awesome. We saw Les Miserables and Into the Woods with Bernadette Peters, ate at Tavern on the Green and the famous deli, I can't remember the name now and of course shopped. I'd love to take my family someday. Luckily, we live about 2 1/2 hours from Chicago so we get out big city fixes there. I wish we'd seen Wicked when it was still open there.

I didn't know you could rent lenses either! My main one is giving me trouble so I have been thinking about replacing it. Could it be because it gets way over-used/knocked against things/etc?

I'm so excited. My Goddaughter's bday party is Sat so I thought: perfect excuse to convince Aisling to try on all her Disney dresses. I said "oh let's try on all your dresses and see what still fits so we can pick the best one for the party" I threw the Disney dresses in the try on pile.

Woo-hoo for dresses that still fit! Very nice dresses too! BTW - I liked Piper's idea about measurements.

It is closing in August :(

I am still sad about this! It is such a good show I am glad we got to see it. I have been watching for deals for Mary Poppins but none have come that were cheap enough and at the right time for me to pull the trigger. Plus I am thinking about the Radio City Christmas show this year.

I guess I am one of those lurkers who has never said hello! I get so taken in reading PTR's that I forget to post anything. Since this will essentially be our first trip to DW, I have so much to learn and plan. I went once 11 years ago as a nanny for a one year old. We spent most of the time in the cabin at Fort Wilderness. One afternoon I took him to MK with his dad, and one afternoon his grandmother and I explored DHS. That's about all I saw there. This time will be so different!

Anyway - I am enjoying your PTR. Enjoyed the bonus mini-report on NYC. I had a great week in NYC once when my friend's daughter played Young Cosette in Les Mis. I'll get back there one day when my kids are old enough to enjoy it.

I think you have an incredibly fun birthday celebration planned for your daughter! Great that the two dresses still fit! Awesome options for birthday cakes! And how fun that it's still a surprise!

I have to make my ADRs on Sat and I'm still debating!!!

Friday night I'm still planning on Chef Mickeys
Sat I'm still thinking BBB in the AM and 1900 PF for dinner
Sunday - Lunch at Yak & Yeti
Tuesday- Lunch at CP

Monday is still a toss up. I keep thinking that while I'm in Epcot all day, we should be doing two sit downs. I'm def. going to try to get Le Cellier for lunch or dinner. BUT, I'm trying to figure out if we should both and just sample our way around the world at Food and Wine???? Issue is that I think Food and Wine is pretty pricey for a sample and I'm not going to want to fork up that much cash to fill me. I would rather just pay for a meal OOP.

Thoughts anyone????

(BTW, mini-TR coming up from our weekend in Maine).

Ok, I'm finally all caught up!:yay: Let's see.... You're house is just beautiful! Is it arts and crafts style? I love the style of the front. Also, the backyard? WOW! I'm officially jelous. I'm sure Aisling is loving the swing set and pool.:goodvibes

I got a little choked up reading about your birthday celebration for your friend. What a great memorial.

Your ADRs look good. F&W would be such a fun time to go. I guess I would probably make two TS ressies and see how everyone is feeling by dinner time. Sitting down for at least one meal is probably a good idea, especially in Epcot with a child.

My thoughts are that I don't really like any CS at Epcot too much, sometimes the Mexican is okay. So what about a CS and a TS and then a snack or two from F&W.

I think 2 TS meals would be a fine idea for your Epcot day. I get overwhelmed and the idea of 2 TS is very appealing so you can rest. :thumbsup2

The house is an arts and crafts. Really weird style for Mass but I love it. The backyard is what sold us though. Although with the horrible weather we've been having we haven't been able to enjoy it too much!

The bday celebration went well. This weekend I had the birthday party for my goddaughter (her daughter) where dad introduced us to the new girlfriend. It was a little hard but I got through it.

We def. need to sit down at least once at Epcot. And we'll probably go back the resort for her to rest if she wants to see Illuminations. So we can do an early lunch and go take a break around 1ish and come back for a later dinner. The issue is that I wish I had a schedule of events for Food and Wine. Randy is the family chef so he's so excited about meeting some real chefs and he'll be so sad if he misses someone good!

My thoughts are that I don't really like any CS at Epcot too much, sometimes the Mexican is okay. So what about a CS and a TS and then a snack or two from F&W.

I don't think I've ever eaten CS at Epcot. Plus I'm concerned that Aisling is too picky for CS in WS. Remember last year she survived on chicken fingers, mac & cheese, fruit, and popcorn for 9 days!!!!

I think 2 TS meals would be a fine idea for your Epcot day. I get overwhelmed and the idea of 2 TS is very appealing so you can rest. :thumbsup2

Ya, I do like the "rest" idea. It's going to be such a short trip compared to the ones we have taken. That's why I was thinking that a TS would at least slow us down

I blame your TR for this confusion BTW. Now I'm thinking Rose and Crown looks mighty good!

I vote for Le Cellier for lunch. Then I would make a late ADR for Rose and Crown if possible. If you stay for illuminations keep the ADR. If you decide to head out early, grab CS or munchies at food and wine and cancel the ADR.

Thanks for the thoughts. I printed out the menus for both and gave them to Randy to look over to see which he would rather have for lunch and which for dinner. His response: they all look good. MEN :headache:

Still haven't solved my ADR issue...3 more days to figure it out! I say this post on my friends FB page this morning and had to share it here...because it just made me laugh

I think Pringles original intention was to make tennis balls... but on the day the rubber was supposed to show up a truckload of potatoes came. Pringles is a laid-back company, so they just said, "F(insert rest of letters here) it, cut em up!"

So this weekend we went to Maine. Kristine being Kristine had contacted my friend Becky's (the one who passed away) husband and asked him to throw the party this weekend because me and Becky's 3rd Musketeer was in town from San Francisco. Stupid Kristine was so worried about her being able to come that I forgot that MY FAMILY had plans to go away. So basically we drove all the way to Maine friday to have to go to Dover, NH on Sat and then drive BACK to Maine after the party :headache:

Anyway....here is my little bday girl

Isn't she a cutie?!?!

I wish I lived closer to her so I could help out with her and her sister more. I had mentioned to Becky that I thought her oldest daughter (who is now 4) had "something" going on....my guess at the time was that she was on the autism spectrum. As time went on, I figured that it was def. Aspbergers. And it is. She was finally diagnosed last month. Problem was that after Becky passed away, I felt weird saying anything to her husband and everyone kinda blamed her behaviors on mom passing and forgot that she had the same behaviors BEFORE.

Now the little one just turned 2 and isn't speaking. AT ALL. She grunts. I'm so concerned about them. Dad is just too in denial to follow through with services. He does have a new GF so I'm hoping she'll help :confused3.

Well enough of the serious stuff...here are some of my tumble monkey at the party

I'm so disappointed for Randy. His celebrity crush Cat Cora (the fact that she has a wife does not deter the crush at all ;)) is going to be there on Friday...we leave Tuesday :sad2:

That is so sad about the two little girls. Do you think dad just feels overwhelmed? I was a nanny for a few years for a little boy who had lost his mom. This dad had lots of help, but it was still a huge thing to bear. I hope that their dad gets the help they all need.

Your goddaughter is adorable (and so is Aisling)! I think you should book the rest of the week too - then we would maybe overlap a day or two if I take the long weekend trip I am considering but shouldn't be. And of course I agree with the consensus on FB to upgrade to AKL! 'Cause you know money and missing more school is no big deal right?

Good Morning everyone!!!

I got up bright at early at 6am to do the online reservations system and I have to say....

I LOVED it!!!

No more dealing with less than stellar CMs that you have to ASK if they have a time maybe 5-10 minutes later. It tells you!!! AND no more freaking out that you are going to lose cell phone connection :rotfl: Plus you don't have to write down all the numbers....they are there :banana::banana:

All around great experience!

Oddly, the ONLY restaurant all week that I got for the exact time I wanted was Le Cellier :confused3 Everything else was 5 minutes earlier/later and 1900 PF was 10 minutes later. Which is fine with me but I have such a hard time remembering those stupid 6:55 times!!!

SOOOO INTRODUCING my finalized ADR list!!!

Friday- Chef Mickey's for a late Dinner

Sat (Aisling's actual Bday)- BBB Bright and Early at 8am!! and 1900 Park Fare for Cinderella's Dinner!

Sunday- Yak & Yeti for Lunch (MNSSHP that night)

Monday- Le Cellier for Lunch and Rose and Crown for dinner

Tuesday- Lunch at Crystal Palace

Thanks Ladies!

Today I went to the Mousejunkies book signing. If you are looking for a really fun Disney book (it combines humor with planning)- get it. I think it's $10-11 on Amazon. All of the "junkies" were there so Aisling went around and got all of them to sign it. She was thrilled!

Kathy- you def. need to try the online system next week for your ADRs

Cathy- "6:55" means dinner at 6:55pm as opposed to 7pm. Obviously you always try to get ressies on the hour or half hour but they do seatings in 5 minute intervals. So if they don't have exactly 7pm for instance- they might have 6:55 or 7:05. It's just harder to remember the odd times!

Jenn- I think it's going to work out. I was worrying about the less extensive dinner menu at Le Cellier but Randy was happy to have lunch there and try somewhere new for dinner. I didn't book a time around Illuminations- although i could have. I just don't think Ash will last that long without dinner.

I want to say it was me! But then again I don't want to say that! Who knows!

Nope, free dining for me. Remember! Hey, do your dates qualify for the new free dining they just released? I bet they don't! Darn it!

I booked Yak & Yeti because you and Stacy loved it right? Lin really enjoys that type of food and Dallas too but then Lin said he didn't care if he ate there or not.

I read that it was taking some people almost 4 weeks to get their gift cards. I have usually gotten mine within 2 but the last took almost 3 (they were bath and body works and old navy). My friend ordered RF last night so I'll let you know how long hers take.

I read your PM and will be happy to do it for you! Guess I should respond in there but was thinking of going to bed. Just thinking about it though.

YOU ROCK!!! Thank you!

We did love Yak & Yeti. I don't know we ate at ESPN Zone later on because they practically had to roll us out of there! Get the fried wontons for dessert!!!

My dates do coincide with the new free dining but since we got 40% off with the AP rate (and I didn't have to buy a useless 1 day ticket to add on DDP), I think that getting the Quick Service only plan free and having to upgrade to reg. dining would be less of a savings. So I'll stick to the 40% off! I hate Disney math!!!

OK Soooo as you all know, I've was struggling with whether to pull Aisling out of school early on Friday. We had booked the 5pm flight out of Manchester originally. Well of course, Murphy's Law...now that we have decided to pull her out of school early (and made ADRs for dinner at Chef Mickey's)...the flight prices for that one way are up about $35/person from what we originally paid. Today the flight is down to an increase of $16/person. But we are still 3 months out. What do you think? Should we gamble it or pay the $48 (total) increase???

So I have a ton of work to do today that is stressing me out and this house selling thing is stressing me out so I decided to DIS to de-stress! Good solution - huh.

I would book the tickets now and pay the increase. They could go up again or flights could change. You can always try to get a credit if they go back down. I have been peeking at flights in case we decide to go on our trip and there are fewer direct flights to choose from then just last week.

So I had a scary night with my baby last night. :guilty:

A little background info is that Aisling is extremely allergic to bug bites. When she gets one, she swells up like a balloon. All her joints swell up and she gets big welts and bruises. Needless to say, a summer camp in the woods in NH...on a lake...with all this rain...isn't helping the cause. Of course I practically drown her in bugspray in the morning but they counselors are not allowed to re-apply it after they go swimming. The poor thing is getting eaten alive. Her pediatrician told me to give her Benedryl to help with the joint swelling. Obviously, I need to give her the Benedryl at night because it would make her drowsy during the day.

So last night, I gave her Benedryl before bed like usual. At about 11pm I heard a crash. I was convinced that someone had broken into my house. Then I heard a little noise from Aisling's room. I called her name and she didn't respond so I ran in there. She was just standing next to her bed, not making a sound. She was just staring. When I started talking to her, she started to scream...LOUDLY. She didn't say a word just screamed. Then she ran to the bathroom. Of course I followed her but she seemed totally confused where she was. She ran back and forth between her bedroom and the bathroom screaming. Then she took off all her clothes. Eventually she decided that she had to go potty but instead of using the toilet...she peed on the floor...like she couldn't find the toilet :confused3

Mind you, she was still just screaming during all of this. No response to me at all. Then finally she started speaking but she was yelling about kids being in our house and having balloons and them not letting her play with the balloons. At this point, she had been up for 15 minutes. I couldn't figure out if she was sleep walking or having hallucinations from the Benedryl or what.

Finally after about 20 minutes of not being able to calm her down, I told her that i was going downstairs to call Randy to have him come home because I was terrified (not to mention that I was convinced that one of my neighbors were going to call the cops soon as a child screaming that late at night)

When I started to head downstairs she finally stopped screaming and grabbed my hand. She still wasn't talking to me but was able to walk downstairs. I called Randy and of course, right afterward, she kinda snapped out of it and was able to talk a little bit. We waited on the couch for Randy to get home. She wouldn't talk to him other than to ask him to tuck her into bed.

This morning...totally fine :confused3

So I'm still at a loss as to what is going on?!?!

Benedryl making her hallucinate? (I couldn't take it as a kid because I hallucinated on it)

Sleepwalking??? (Randy and I were both sleepwalkers)

Some kind of Seizure??? (didn't think of this last night until several people pointed out to me at work that it could have been a seizure)

Random other reason????

Now of course Aisling is leaving tonight for an 8 day vacation with my mom in Maine. Better make sure I send her health insurance card just in case!

That really sounds like a night terror. I had them as a child and so did my sister. The child appears to be awake, but is not really. It is like being stuck in a dream state. It is scary, but not harmful. The child will eventually snap out of it or get back in bed, and most don't remember what happened. They are totally not hasrmful to the child, but really scary for parents. I once spent 20 min telling my Mom that she was not my mother and I wanted my mommy!Ours were something that runs in the family. Some of my mom's siblings and several cousins had them as well. In her case I would suspect that the benedryl may have triggered it. The drowsyness from the benedryl may have made in harder for her to wake up?? I would check with her doc just to make sure.

Kristine
Nikki has had those it sounds like a night terror. So scary! Last one she had was when she was really sick and had a 104 fever off ad on for about 4 days. Same kind of thing happened she woke up screaming no clue we where there walked around frantically. We thought she was awake so we tried to calm her and we did. The next morning she was fine! Still sick but didn't really remember what happened she thought it was a dream.

It could be the bug bite it could be the benadryl but it probably just a freak thing.
some info on it.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Night_terror

'Children from age two to six are most prone to night terrors, and they affect about fifteen percent of all children,[1] although people of any age may experience them. Episodes may recur for a couple of weeks then suddenly disappear.[citation needed] The symptoms also tend to be different, like the child being able to recall the experience, and while nearly arisen, hallucinate.[citation needed] Strong evidence has shown that a predisposition to night terrors and other parasomniac disorders can be passed genetically.[citation needed] Though there are a multitude of triggers, emotional stress during the previous day and a high fever are thought to precipitate most episodes.[citation needed] Ensuring the right amount of sleep is an important factor. Night terrors may also be caused by stress and constipation and other irregular bowel movements or lack thereof.[citation needed] Special consideration must be used when the subject suffers from narcolepsy, as there may be a link.[citation needed]'

That is so scary Kristine. Seth used to have night terrors and what happened reminds me exactly of a night terror. He would kick and scream and walk around and freak out about random stuff and would not make eye contact or even seem to see that I was there at all. It was so scary because he looked like he was there, but he wasn't there, KWIM? It seems sometimes his night terrors would happen more frequently when he was overtired. He outgrew them, but your description reminds me so much of what they were like for me as a mom. I hope you can get some answers. I'm sure she'll be just fine.

I agree with princess mom; sounds just like a night terror; both my kids have had them and they would laleepwalk, talk, yell, etc too. Let your dr know to be sure. I would also talk to the camp. For her, that bug spray is a medication that she requires during the day; the camp needs to make reasonable accomodation.

I think it was a night terror as well. It could be the activities at camp are really making her really tired.

I would call the pediatrician and find out if there was something else to give her for the bug bites besides the benedryl.

That sounds so scary :hug::hug:

Wow that is scary. I would definately make a call. It does sound more like a hallucination and give grandma the heads up in case it happens again.

So you are having an 8 day vacation too?! Anything romantic planned?:rotfl:

Thanks everyone!!!

I did think of night terrors but for some reason, I thought those stopped at 2-3??? :confused3 Guess not!

Oddly she is saying that she is remembering parts of last night but in her recollection she wasn't screaming...she was just "talking" to me :confused3 Not even close! She doesn't remembering going to the bathroom either. I'm thinking that she might either be remembering AFTER she snapped out of it or she's not really remembering at all and she is actually just parroting back what she heard me describing to Randy and my mom.

Totally agree about the camp thing as well. I signed a medical release form letting them know that she needs bugspray re-applied but it isn't doing much good. Apparently it's a state law (like not having peanut products in schools- some kid may be allergic to bugspray). She can spray it herself but good luck getting a 5 year old to remember to do that!!!

You can always tell the people who aren't married yet!!! I've been married for 7 years now. Romance (if it was there at all ;)) went out the window a long time ago :lmao:

That would have scared me too!! I think I would go with calling the doctor just to get a professional opinion. I wonder if hallucinating on Benadryl could have a genetic link - something with the way your body metabolizes it or something? I am glad she is perfectly fine today! Hope her vacation is a fun one!

UPDATE:::

You are all right. I just spoke to her pediatrician and they 99% think she had a night terror. Since she has taken Benedryl for so long they find it very unlikely that she could have a reaction to it now. Since night terrors tend to happen when you are over-stimulated during the day...the fact that she's at camp from 8-5 supports that.

If it happens again...they will send her for testing to make sure it's not some kind of seizure.

Thanks again everyone!!!
