Trillium-These are one of my favorites in the woodland plants. While you should never pick or dig up woodland plants, and in some places it's illegal. There are now nurseries that specialize in the propagation of woodland plants.

It has always been a dream of mine to have a woodland garden. I am working on one at this time. probably the first plant I will purchase is Trilliums.

The foliage, the petals and the sepals of the Trillium all come in threes. They look best when planted in clumps around or near rocks in woodland areas.

Trilliums like shade, and a soil thats moist and rich in humus. They grow to heights of 12 inches and flower in the spring to summer. There are several different varieties now available and I love them all.

hi While I agree I love Trilliums

Plant rescue is a legal way to dig trilliums in the wild.

I have done several of these where highway are being widened, new roads are going in or new subdivisons or houses being built.

these plants will be destroyed by the construction so if you can RESCUE get permission and go fo it.

once established these plants are hardy and very easy to Grow.

The official flower of Ontario! :)

You can buy them at most garden centres. We had four of them but only one came up this year, we're going to get more!

Thank you for the links Mamu and Maleficent! :)
