Hey everyone! Well I'm back!!! :) I haven't been on the boards as much (except WISH) but slowly but surely I'm working my way back into the DIS.
As some of you know...I'm already heading to Disney in January for the half marathon. Pre trippie is in my sig. Can't wait!
However.... we received a PIN about a month or two ago for 40% off hotel. I saw the card and put it off to the side knowing that we wouldn't be able to go. And the card just sat there...and sat... and a bunch of other stuff piled up on it and it was forgotten.
I started cleaning off all the useless stuff off my dresser and noticed the card and it got me thinking... hmmm.... CAN I pull of another Disney trip? 40% off hotel is a LOT... hmmm.... I've always wanted to go for my bday.... mom has been bugging me to go again... F&W is on my bday...they're running the bday celebration... hmmm...
My mom can't stop talking about our last Disney trip (Trippie Here (http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1646137)) and I wanted to do something nice again for her. What better way than to go back to the World?
So I don't say anything to mom and throw the card in my bag on the way to work. Figured I'll crunch some numbers when I get there. Well? that's ALL I did almost that whole day. And it looked promising! I calculated for 8 days/7 nights like our last trip..I can stay at Pop for $400!!
Immediately I called Disney and booked a trip. Connie helped me out and was awesome!
So yup...I'm going to Disney 9/26-10/3. I know it's a ways away and I can always cancel if I had to but i at least wanted to book something before the 40% pin expired at the end of March.
The next day I was thinking more and while we loved Pop when we went, I kinda wanted something more laid back and low key and not as chaotic. I know mom would enjoy that too. So i called and changed the ressie to POFQ, and got about $500 off. :thumbsup2 When's the next time we'll be able to stay at POFQ so cheap?! I can deal with the few hundred extra, especially after researching POFQ.
As for passes...I'm going to get my mom an 8 day park hopper. For me? I'm going with the annual since I'm going back down in January. Save me some money for that trip!
Airfare? I already have one free flight on my credit card points. By the time I need to book I SHOULD have another one. If not though I'll just buy one and then use the free one for January.
It's my bday on the 27th when we're down there and I'm going to get the $75 gift card to buy some fun stuff. It's also Food & Wine and I've been dying to go for that since I've never been.
If free dining is offered, I'm going to pass. It was a LOT of food last time we did it and I think we'll spend around the same amount of money on things we actually want to eat. And since it's F&W? I'll be eating around the world... a LOT!
So that's my trip in condensed version form. I'll be back with what I'm thinking for ADR's and stuff. Since I have time though I'm not too worried!! :)

Haha, I know! I hate that work gets in the way...
OK...so I just posted this as a full topic in the dining boards but I wanted to post it here too...Not really sure what to do about free dining!
So I'm leaning against going with free dining when we go down and everyone I talk to is telling me I'm crazy... Can I run my thought process by you guys and please give me honest opinions.. if I'm nuts...tell me.
My mom and I are going 9/26-10/3, and I used the 40% off pin for POFQ. That saved me about $480 on the room. I knew free dining might happen that week but when I first calculated it, I didn't think we'd eat everything offered. So now Free Dining just happened and I was trying to do calculations again and am all confused as to what to do. Since the dining plan is $40 a person a day, we'd be getting about $560 worth of free food....which sounds like a bargain compared to the $480 we saved on the room, right?
Here's where my dilemma comes in.... my mom and I aren't huge dessert people. We'll MAYBE split one at every sit down. We're bigger on appetizers so even if we were on the Free Dining, we'd have to pay OOP for at least one appetizer a meal. Plus it's the F&W Festival and I want to eat around the kiosks a few (or many!) times. Most of that will be OOP as well since I'm sure we'll use up our snack credits quick.
I just tried to calculate the amount of food that we'll actually 'want' to eat off the free dining... I'm not including dessert in the TS or QS meals since we wouldn't eat them normally.
QS Breakfast... around $22 a day for both of us
QS Lunch (if not Breakfast)... around $25 a day for both of us
TS Dinner... (for 2 entrees and drinks..no dessert)... anywhere btween $32 and $50 a day for both of us.
Snack.. about $7 a day for both of us
On a 'cheap' day that adds it could be about $65 or so. On an expensive day it could add up to $82.
So that's what makes me think there's no point in me doing free dining? Can someone convince me otherwise? lol

 Hi! We are going as well in the free dining period, and we chose to do it since we have specific food requirements.
I guess my argument is like this: it's free. So instead of $65 to $80 a day, you pay nothing. Or if you only want to use it for breakfast and lunch and do something else for dinner? You get free breakfast and lunch and then can spend some money on dinner. It's free. FREE. So your obligation (i.e. I paid for this, I better get my money's worth) is not there.

Yeah, I'm still torn..just due to the fact that I saved about $480 on the hotel and if I pick free dining, I lose that $480 savings. plus I'll be getting an annual pass for myself so I was thinking of buying the dining experience card (or wahtever it's called) and we get discounts on restaurants there too.
Ugh...still thinking about all this!
but now gonna head to your trippie instead to take my mind off it..haha

I'd go with the free dining. You're going to be there during the time period, already. And, I've seen some people box up desserts to take back with them. Plus, you can easily take the already packaged CS desserts back to your hotel room for a snack later on. Use those desserts as snacks, and use your snack credits for drinks or items to take home to friends/family. Many people on the boards go to the Goofy Candy Company at DTD on the last day and use all of their snack credits; you can get the Mickey shaped rice crispie treats dipped in all kinds of fun stuff, 3 long pretzels dipped in goodes, or marshmellows (dipped, too.) They're easy to put in your carry on bag, and voila, treats for the people back home!

I thuoght you could do both? Or am I misremembering? If you can't do both, then seriously don't do the free dining if it might not save you that much and you want more freedom to eat.
Yay for more visitors :)

You can't do both; only one deal..either FD or 4/3. I wish we could use both deals!!!
DisneymoonJess07
03-31-2009, 02:21 PM
It's not 4/3, it's a pin code though...isn't that different? 4/3 and FD aren't on the same time frame anyway?
HeatherBelle614
03-31-2009, 02:25 PM
Disney will still only allow you to use one deal; we had two pins - one for free dining and one for 40% off. I tried to use the 40% off with the new free dining deal, and it's a no go. Unfortunately, whether it's a pin or a deal they're offering to everyone, you can only use one.

OK! It's official!
So just got off the phone with Tables in Wonderland. I'm going that route!
I was getting conflicting information on websites but the lady reassured me I get 20% off every participating restaurant, all day, and that includes alcohol. So yeah, I'm paying $75 for it but I'll be using it for 2 people this trip and 5 people for my trip in January. It should pay for itself by the end of this trip. She even emailed me a full listing of every counter service, snack counter, TS place that I would get the discount. and it includes alcohol? Sign me up! (No...I'm not a big drinker but I'm going to meet up with one of my friends that lives in FL and we're going to attempt to carefully Drink Around the World)

Thanks! Yup...we did photopass. I've done it that past two trips and will do it every time from now on. It's a little expensive but there's always those photopass shares on here and also the discounts if you buy prior to your trip. I am a HUGEEEEE photo person (a big hobby of mine is learning to take photos) so this is right up my alley. Everyone I go with already knows that we MUST stop by almost every photopass photographer we run into just to grab a photo. Plus... they'll gladly take one with your camera as well. Not all of the photos come out great, some come out down right horrible but for the most part, these guys know pretty much what they're doing.
The photographers take some cute photos...like of my mom and I standing on either side of Pluto and kissing him while he stands in the middle looking bashful. And you can get the cool photos of you holding Tinkerbell, Simba, etc.
I also like adding all the borders and stuff. If you go to my bottom two trippies in my signature, there's a link in the first post of each that links to my photopass photos in that topic.

Hey! I'm subbing...I can't wait to hear all about your trip with your mom! What great savings--I know you've already made up your mind, but I was going to tell you to go the route you did. I think you'll enjoy having the $480 off the room since food isn't your main concern this trip. So way to go!! :thumbsup2 My DH and I will be leaving when you're coming--we're staying from the 20-26 at AKL (we're renting points). I went to F&WF in 2006, but we didn't really take advantage of all of the stuff because we had a lot of little kids with us. I'm excited to hear how you like it!

Hey, it's Amy of Amy & Beth.
Loving your pre-trip report. That is so nice that you're taking your mom with you!
Drinking around the world...just make sure to pace yourself. I did that when I was doing my college program in 2002 and I ended up doing 8 countries in an hour and a half. I don't suggest that. ;)
Great to see you over here! :)

Looking forward to hearing more about your trip! :)

Amy!!! omg so good to see you over here, I should have known you where here :confused3 Oh...DEFINITELY pacing myself for the drink around the world. We'll start somewhat early and take our time eating and drinking.
** side note everyone... (sorry Amy...lol)... Amy and I have known each other since we were...12? We were both HUGE Mickey Mouse Club fans (along with her sister) and you can kinda say it's the MMC and Disney that introduced us to each other. :) Sadly we haven't seen each other since we were...14? 15? I can't even remember!

Hey! I followed you over from my per trip report. I see that you are going in Sept too, and for your Birthday. My mom will also be there for her birthday and she too will be getting the $75.00 gift card. Did you register your name & print the form to take with you? Be sure to do that if you have not, you have to have it with you. :goodvibes
That's a nice gift, I think. She was excited about it when I told her. :woohoo:

We were both HUGE Mickey Mouse Club fans (along with her sister) and you can kinda say it's the MMC and Disney that introduced us to each other. :) Sadly we haven't seen each other since we were...14? 15? I can't even remember!
It's been years! I think it was when Meredith had the MMC party...and I don't even remember how many years ago that was! Those MMC memories are priceless and I can't help but think about them everytime I'm at Studios!

:woohoo:
We will be at POR and I can't wait!! :dance3:
Welcome over here! :) I registered my name but I didn't print out the form. I heard you don't have to print it out? Just go and show your ID? I'll probably print it out anyway though just to be safe. The $75 is definitely a nice gift! Not sure what we'll spend it on yet!

omg I totally forgot about Meredith's party! I still get all the memories rushing to me when I walk into MGM. Standing in that HOT sun waiting to go to Rocks the Planet...then standing inside FOREVER on line.. :) Countless tapings Lisa and I went to while my poor parents just had to wander around the parks without us. haha! Going on the Backstage Tour (when it used to go through the upstairs of the studios) just trying to catch a glimpse of any of them.
I was a huge MMC fan! Tony Lucca
I've been trying to see Tony every time he comes into the city for shows and I haven't been able to make it in years. I saw him maybe 4 years ago and he was great!

Hiya! I finally got myself over here.
You are going to love POFQ! It is so pretty and quiet. Perfect after a day at the parks. :goodvibes
It's so nice to have mother/daughter trips. I enjoyed trips with my mom before she passed away. I treasure those pictures.
I'm confused over the dining plan too. I can never figure it out! I am going to total all my food from my March trip and compare it to the dining plan. I can't get one for my May trip becasue I booked a room-only reservation. Apparentely, you can't add dining.
What is Tables in Wonderland? I'm going to have to search that. Any discount is a good discount! LOL!
Oh and the photopass share was a good experience. I'm hoping to get my CDs today from my March trip. I did it again for the May trip. I did love playing around with those borders. :thumbsup2
Looking forward to your pre-trippie!

I miss the Bette Midler short! And for me to say that is impressive... I'm not a HUGE fan of her! I remember on the backstage houses part we drove by once and the basketball hoop was down in one of the 'driveways' of the house and the CM mentioned that it must have been one of the crazy MMC kids cause they're always playing bball back there.

Welcome over! Sadly it took me ages to get to your report too...plus I still have to read about your May report. When I'm at work photobucket pics don't show up (they block the site) so I have to only read them when I get home. Kinda sucks!
Your pics and review of POFQ have me so excited to stay there now. It seems like a perfect quiet place that my mom would like. Pop was great and all, just a little LOUD in terms of themeing.
I think I mentioned in this TR but I would have done the DP again IF they gave appetizers like they did in 2007. That was perfect. Or at least give the option of an app OR dessert. We're just not BIG dessert people so it would be either a waste or we'd be forcing food down that we really didn't want.
Tables in Wonderland is offered for Florida residents OR Annual Pass holders. I believe for AP holders it's $75 (normally it's $100) and you get 20% off ALL of your food and drinks (including alcohol) for your entire trip. It really adds up. When I went last May, 5 of us went to Le Cellier for dinner. My one friend that was with us had the TIW card since she's both a FL res and AP holder and it saved us $50 or $60 total! So it pays for itself pretty quickly.
When the trip gets closer I defintiely have to look into the Photopass share. Such a good deal!

Yup...I've been taking a break. There isn't much I can do yet since hours aren't out and I can't make my ADR's yet! Next month :cool1:
Mom is still excited, as am I. I've been getting my Dis fix by being on here and catching up to trippies and stuff. I NEED to catch up on podcasts. I've been SO far behind.
Went and saw my really good friend Lisa (Amy... and Kat...you guys know Lisa!) who had gotten married down in Disney (trippie in my sig) the other day because she's having a baby!! She's due this Saturday...and she's ready to POP! Very cute though.
OK hopefully I'll be back in a bit with some more news to give but I've got nothing today! haha!

Hey everyone!!
So my friend Lisa had a baby boy Joshua!! OMG he's soooo adorable!!! I'm going to go out to see her hopefully in a week and a half for the day. I can't wait to meet him! She keeps sending me the most adorable photos :) I'll try to post one on here soon.
OK so.... I know I haven't really updated in awhile so here's a quick update and might make all you Disney fans LOL. So I'm dating this guy who lives in Florida (Sarasota area)... he's originally from DC though and just recently moved down there. And he's NEVER been to Disney. ever.
So he knew I was going to Disney in Sept with mom and how much I'm *slightly* addicted to the Mouse. I tell him he has to join us and I'll try to Disney-fy him as much as I can and make him fall in love with the World. Due to schedules, he can probably only come and stay with us Saturday when we arrive until Monday..maybe Tuesday. Then he could possibly come back for Friday afternoon until we leave on Saturday. So since it's my bday the Sunday we're there, I was rambling telling him I'm not sure which park I want to do...probably MK... and not sure where I want to eat, since MK isn't known for their fine dining. I'm rambling mentioning Epcot.. hmm...good restaurants... good time.... or park hop... and then? He suggests leaving the park and driving somewhere to go eat instead.:scared1:
Yes yes... I know a bunch of you do it all the time. I've done it in the past too. But this is my BIRTHDAY! and for 24 straight hours from midnight until midnight... I want ALL Disney... all day. no exceptions :rotfl2: I think my heart even skipped a beat when he recommended it. I wanted to be like 'awww honey....you still have SO much to learn about Disney... lol' I felt bad breaking it to him but I was like 'nuh-uh...no way!'. haha... after we hung up I got a good laugh out of it. Poor boy does have so much Disney to learn about, I'm totally going to overwhelm him. :confused3
I'm just slightly worried he's gonna be turned off by Disney b/c it's his bday 2 weeks before I get there and I think he's planning on going for his bday to one of the parks. And *gasp!* his tourguide will still be in NJ! :scared1: He had no intention of planning anything and did not understand that if you want to eat at a sit down restaurant, you should make ADRs 90 days in advance. I'm trying to drop hints and stuff as to what to do so cross your fingers he actually has a good time. I'd hate for him to be overwhelmed and not have a good time... I have too much brainwashing to do! :rolleyes1
And umm....WHEN ARE SEPTEMBER HOURS COMING OUT?!

So I figured I should probably be trying to figure out ADRs and Parks, etc for my trip. My ADR window isnt until June 28th.. but I'm getting antsy!
Tell me what you guys think...they're VERY tentative and depend on a few things... I'll be making dinner ADRs for 4 people for every day b/c my bf will be joining us for a few days here and there and also my friends from FL will be in the Disney area and they'll probably join us too. Most breakfasts will be at POFQs CS.
Sept 26th (Sat): arrive... possibly MK for a little bit after we settle in. Maybe do GF Tea instead? If bf is with us I doubt he'll want to do the tea...we'll see. Or I'll tell him to meet us after the tea. Maybe Plaza for dinner if we go to MK.
Sept 27th (Sun): My Birthday! MK for the day definitely.. I think. ;) I don't want to eat at MK for dinner though because I'm just NOT a fan of any of the table restaurants in the MK to actually have a bday dinner there. Dinner most likely at Tutto. Although EMH are at the MK that night but I'd still have to drop my mom off back at the hotel since it's late for her. Possibly have breakfast at Crystal Palace? Kona (for the french press coffee!)? Chef Mickeys? or just eat at POFQ in the morning.
Sept 28th (Mon): Epcot for F&W and fun. We'll stay at Epcot all day so we'll wander and nibble all day. Dinner maybe at Chefs or Teppan Edo. Also, if Kouzina is open at the Boardwalk, that's a possibility too.
Sept 29th (Tues): MGM day. Either a late lunch at Brown Derby or dinner at Mamas. My mom will only like the coconut shrimp at BD and it's only available at lunch. I wonder if I'd be able to call and ask to have that for her for dinner? We're actually trying to avoid the Fantasmic crowd so if Fantasmic is this day then we'll move around plans a bit.
Sept 30th (Wed): Epcot again for more F&W yummy fun. Dinner would be at wherever we didn't get an ADR the first two days at Epcot!
Oct 1st (Thurs): AK day. Yak & Yeti dinner if we can have an ADR around 5pm. If not then we'll head to maybe Kona or the Grand Floridian Cafe for dinner...or back to Epcot? lol
Oct 2nd (Fri): MK all day. Our last full day always has to be at the MK so we'll be back here. Dinner at Tonys!
Oct 3rd (Sat): our last day.. :( if we didn't do tea at the GF the first day...we'll prob do it today. Then head back to the MK or Epcot and relax and wander.

OK mini update...I just looked at the Travel Agent link that people are posting for Sept hours and it looks like Fantasmic is of COURSE on the 29th...the day we were scheduled to go to MGM. I hear Fantasmic days at the park now are pretty crowded so we wanted to avoid it. Guess I'll be swapping it with possibly our AK day, which doesn't mess up anything, I dont think! :)

Grrrr....new update to make my brain explode!! :)
OK so I'm thinking about the whole spending too much money when we're down there. And I've also been reading a bunch of trip reports where people have upgraded to the Deluxe Dining.
So my dilemma.. I'm thinking about getting rid of the 40% off pin code and reserving the Free Dining Package for my mom and I but paying the additional money for the Deluxe Dining. Our big thing for not doing the normal free dining was that we like appetizers and would have to pay for those OOP anyways. But now for an additional $30 or $40 each a person, we get a bunch more things.
We'd also be able to have breakfast at TS restaurants instead of running to the CS in POFQ. Grr... I know I complained the Free Dining was way too much food... but now that we have total options for the Deluxe (including appetizers)... we can always politely decline dessert or share one, etc.
Here's my price breakdown..
Original Plan Using 40% off hotel Pin
POFQ with discount: $718.23
Annual Pass for me: $499.49
8 Day Pass for mom: $299.27
Tables In Wonderland: $75.00
Total: $ 1591.99
Plus I have to buy food in above... average $100 a day-ish..probably less
so add $700-$800 to the total of that.. around $2292-$2392
New Tentative Plan with Deluxe Dining
Deluxe Package at POFQ with 2 8 Day Passes: $2222.32
Upgrade my pass to Annual Pass: $200.22
Total: $2422.54
The new tentative plan is slightly more but then we might also be able to do some dining shows, relax more at TS (I dont want to push my mom too much because of her health and the damn HEAT that is in florida in Sept!).
Am I totally crazy for thinking of changing my reservation? :confused3

Go for it!
Using your high estimate, it is a difference of $30.54. If you really like the idea of being able to relax a bit more, it will de-stress your vaca AND you got a ton of more value - all for $31 more.
Yeah, I would go for it. :woohoo::yay:

Thanks! I've been mulling it over during lunch and I think I will bump up to deluxe. Now I have THAT many more ADRs to make! :scared1: The only one I think I'd have to pay OOP is the Grand Floridian Tea since that's not covered under any DP.
Time to start browsing those menus again!

Just calculated roughly how much 2 'random' days would be in terms of food just to see how much I'd be spending OOP... the most expensive dinner and the least expensive dinner (roughly). Had done this calculation before but wanted to do it again for my sanity....still definitely leaning towards the Deluxe Plan upgrade! I just have to ask mom tonight but I'm pretty sure I'll call tomorrow.. why is this so nerve wracking?! :sad2:
Dinner at Mamas with 1app, 2 entrees, 1 desert, 2 nonalc drinks: $54
Lunch CS: $20-ish
Breakfast CS: $16-ish
Snacks: $10
Total: $100... if used Tables in Wonderland on dinner... $90 (not including gratuity)
Dinner at Tutto (same amount of food as above): $83
Snacks: $10
Breakfast: $16
Lunch: $20
Total: $128... if used TiW on dinner.. $113 (not including gratuity)
sorry..don't mind my babble :)

Ok, the one hiccup would be making the ADRs, but, you never know online dining might actually be working!! :rotfl2: After ADRs will be stress-free!
For comparison sake, I looked up my March trip and I spent $78.28 (incl tip)on 2 dinners at Mama Melrose (F! package), which was 2 apps, 2 entrees, 1 dessert and coffee. I don't know where I had an alcoholic drink or a regular drink.
I do the same thing; I have to work it all out before I can make a decision. I'm doing the same now for my Vegas trip for my hotel. I'm probably going to book it tonight. :goodvibes I think.

Oh awesome thanks for the comparison for Mama! So I was probably even being lenient when I said Mama would be around $54. I wasn't including tip though since that's not included on the dining plan. Although I'm also NOT including tax, which IS included on the dining plan!
Haha, glad I'm not the only one that keeps on crunching numbers over...and over...and over :) Vegas is awesome, we went a few times over the years! You're going to enjoy it no matter what your interests are!

Wow food overload! :)
I've scoured allears and listed every restaurant and CS that my mom would eat something at. Do you know how hard that was to do? haha! Sadly she might be living off of veggie burgers and pizza at CS, with possibly a tuna salad sandwhich thrown in for fun.
TS is a a little better..barely :) pasta with shrimp, pasta, veggie burgers, shrimp, and that's about it. I thought your palate is supposed to expand with age! :rolleyes1
I really want to do a signature meal now that we'll upgrade to deluxe and the only one I think she'd enjoy is Citricos. But that's only if they make one of the appetizers as an entree for her. She MIGHT like the tandoori shrimp at Sanaa but I have a feeling she might get turned off by everything else. Same with Jiko... there's one shrimp dish on the menu but we'd have to ask them to omit the curry sauce from the shrimp curry... is that even possible?! :confused3
I'm trying to hash out an ADR plan now so I should post it maybe tomorrow. I was also going to crazily attempt MAYBE a dinner at CRT but I heard that the characters arent the same as the breakfast? Really?

So I think I've decided on a very tentative plan for ADRs now that we're most likely going to Deluxe Dining. I have a reservation on hold, but didn't confirm and put the deposit down yet. This is a LOT of food and a LOT of ADRs but we'll take our time and relax. Plus any ADR can be dropped the night before or that morning if we decide it's too much and we'll do CS. Here's what I was thinking we're gonna do..
Sept 26th (Sat): arrive... MAYBEEE MK for a few hours
Lunch: GF Tea (It's not on the dining plan but I really want to do this and I think mom would enjoy)
Dinner: Citricos
*If bf comes up that Saturday, we'll figure something out. I dont know if he'll want to spend the money on Citricos but I also think he'll understand that this is my mom and I's vacation so maybe he'll join or just bum around the hotel/park
Sept 27th (Sun): My Birthday! MK for the day definitely.. I think. I originally said i wanted my bday dinner at Tutto but we'll be there enough the rest of the week. I guess I can deal with a semi-good dinner instead :rotfl: EMH are at the MK that night so I'd still have to drop my mom off back at the hotel since it's late for her.
Breakfast: Crystal Palace
Lunch: Tonys ~ late lunch
Dinner: Plaza? maybe head over Kona?
Sept 28th (Mon): Epcot for F&W and fun. We'll stay at Epcot all day so we'll wander and nibble all day. Hopefully we'll have room for snacks!
Breakfast: Wave or POFQ
Lunch: Tutto
Dinner: Teppan Edo
Sept 29th (Tues): AK day.
Breakfast: Tusker House
Lunch: Pizzafari or other CS
Dinner: Yak and Yeti
* Carriage Ride at POR later on after dinner?
Sept 30th (Wed): Epcot again for more F&W yummy fun.
Breakfast: POFQ
Lunch: Chefs
Dinner: Tutto
Oct 1st (Thurs): MGM day. We're actually trying to avoid the Fantasmic crowd so if Fantasmic is this day then we'll move around plans a bit.
Breakfast: POFQ
Lunch:BrownDerby/SciFi/Mama
Dinner: Mama if not at lunch or head to Epcot for F&W?
Oct 2nd (Fri): MK all day. Our last full day always has to be at the MK so we'll be back here.
Breakfast: Kona or Wave
Lunch: Plaza
Dinner: Tonys
Oct 3rd (Sat): our last day.. if we didn't do tea at the GF the first day...we'll prob do it today. Then head back to the MK or Epcot and relax and wander.
Breakfast: GFC/Wave
Lunch: F&W?
Any suggestions?

Haha, it IS a ton of food if we ate 3 full courses for each meal. I'm sure we won't. If my bf and friends come then they are completely sharing the appetizers and desserts with us. if they don't eat with us then we'll share with other tables if we can (I just read your f&w trip again and saw people did that for you in Boma!)! My mom is a very picky and SMALL eater so we're trying to beef her up a little bit. :rotfl: I'm thinking we'll probably have one app, 2 entrees, and maybe 1 dessert between the 2 of us. Except at Citricos.. I wanna try it all! :)

Kona is a fabulous place for a nice dinner. Not quiet exactly, because it is open to the Poly lobby and right next to Ohana, but such a wonderful break from the crowds and heat! It is literally steps from the monorail, so it is super-easy to get there from MK and you get lots of A/C in the process. :goodvibes

Welcome over here Colleen! :) I LOVE Kona! We ate there for dinner in 2007 and I'm in love with the teriyaki steak. The lunch I also enjoy but dinner is by far better in my opinion. My mom wasn't thrilled with her meal but I'm sure she'll enjoy it this time around with a little more tweaks. AND it's my bday dinner that night so I think she won't argue too much :rotfl:

I def have to say being able to try all the apps and stuff would be fun, at least tasting them. When we did the DDP and there were still apps, entrees and deserts we took home deserts and ate them in the room as a late snack or breakfast.
Being able to pass over some credits to people would be awesome of you, it really was one fo the coolest things to ever happen to us when those people basically paid for our meal!
I am so hungry for Disney food! Yesterday DH asked me the office question fo the day from his job "If you could have 3 last meals what would they be?" All I could think of was Disney food!

I'm hoping we can do the same with some of the desserts. And it's always fun to spread a little Disney magic to total strangers. I always love handing out extra fastpasses if we have them. People are so appreciative! I've also heard of people giving out free meals at counter service restaurants using their DP points so I'm sure we'll be doing that at the end of our stay. There's NO way we'll be able to use all 42 of our meals! Although...I wonder if I'd be able to use some with my bf if he eats with us? Hmm.... we'll test it out when we're there.
I've been craving disney food since my last trip too. I can never get enough!

Hey!!! Found my way over and got caught up :)
Kona has a great dinner. Had bday dinner there 3 yrs ago - and food was great. Atmosphere wasn't top notch. I think if I had Deluxe Dining Plan I'd want to do Narcosses (sp?) or Cali Grill for my bday dinner. Jump on the monorail and jump back to MK.
We're doing Ohanas for my bday this year, but you need to really LIKE Ohana's style to eat there. Luckily we love it :)
Where does your BF live? I'm in Bradenton, JUST north of Sarasota, so he is very close by.
Have you stayed at POFQ before? You will LOVE IT! I can't wait. I'll take lots of pics for you and think of any ?s you want me to figure out for ya.

A little hijack.....
I went to Mr Cupcakes friday and boy, were those pumpkin ones gooood. Yummy!
I can't believe I never noticed them there. I was looking for them and passed it by! :lmao: Luckily, I found a place to park and ran in.
It was a treat to myself after visiting the doc and getting bloodwork. I needed not to eat anything for 12 hours and boy, was I hungry! I figured a little sugar was a good thing. ;)
...now back on topic...
I received a gift of a Kali Safari FP while I was there in March. It was so nice! I was on the FP line & talking to this nice couple in front of me. So, I got to go on twice that day.
Though, I just found out the queue line for Kali is pretty cool too. :thumbsup2

My bf lives in North Port... so thats just a bit south from you, right? I remember passing signs for Bradenton when I was down there! Very close by to you guys.
And nope...never been to POFQ. I can't wait to see it. Every review I read is great and its just the perfect size for us. No specific questions yet but I can't wait to hear what you think of it this time around!

Haha...hijack is well deserved... I've been addicted to these crazy cupcakes! They just opened up at Riverside Square mall (if you go in through Houstons..just walk through the restaurant into the mall and it's right in front of you) and I've been there umm..quite a few times. :rolleyes1 Their red velvet ones and pb&j ones are QUITE yummy as well. One day I WILL try all 30 flavors!
Awesome about the Kali FP.. I'm definitely planning on spreading some disney pixie dust when we're down there as well. My mom won't go on many of the rides that need FP so I'll try to help people out.

Small little update! :)
Yesterday I called and officially canceled my 40% off reservation and booked the Deluxe Dining! At first when I called to book the new res, I couldn't find the reservation that I had on hold so I just let her go through the whole thing as if it were a new reservation. THEN she told me that OMG POFQ and POR were already booked solid for free dining that week!!!! EEEK! So I quickly tried to find my reservation number for the trip I put on hold and luckily I found it so we were able to book it. I also probably could have asked her to look it up for me. Oh well.
Another tidbit of good news... Online ADRs are now open to the public! The site seems a little hokey and slow but it works! And some people are reporting getting BETTER times on their ADRs than when they called in. I tested out the site and SOME of the restaurants even have menus posted, which is nice. I went through and tried to book Yak and Yeti and there was availability on the day I chose. Didnt actually make the reservation though, was just testing the site out. Hopefully they get more kinks worked out by the 28th! I'll be on the phone AND making online ADRs all at 7am!

I've been using the online ADR system via the TA site. It's been up for about a month already so I've gotten used to it. I haven't hit any glitches so far except that it can go a little slow at times. I like that you can look up a 5 day window and if your restaurant of choice isn't available, it will give you other options similar to the place you chose originally. Good luck getting your ADRs! I make mine next Monday.

I just checked out the online reservations, seems like they work out ok except that you have to keep going back for different restaurants. Am I doing it wrong or is that right? I wish it had come out before I was able to make my ADRs. Unfortunately the restaurant I want is all booked up. I was hoping to get an earlier reservation, mines later than I wanted but hey I'll figure something out. Seems like it would be a good idea, no more waiting on hold!!! Oh and by they way, good luck with all of the food!!!:rotfl:

Sign me up! (No...I'm not a big drinker but I'm going to meet up with one of my friends that lives in FL and we're going to attempt to carefully Drink Around the World)
Hey, I read your other trips and I am so in for this one!! I love them!!

Yup! You just pay the difference between normal dining and deluxe. I believe normal dining plan is about $40? and Deluxe is about $70, give or take a few dollars. We think it's totally worth it because then you get 3 TS meals a day WITH appetizer, plus 2 snacks a day, and you each get a refillable mug to use throughout your stay. I don't know if I'd pay $70 a day for it per person but at $32?! TOTALLY worth it in my opinion! :D

That is awesome you were able to just upgrade from free dining to deluxe, and just pay the difference. That will totally be worth it. Hope you get all your ADRS!!!.

Yeah, I'm really excited about it! It's a LOT of food but I have faith in us that we won't stuff ouselves...too much :rotfl: I would never pay the $70 per person but at $32?! SIGN ME UP!

so I was on an organization kick and with my ADR window opening up on Sunday morning, I figured I'd make a pretty document with all of my information... :yay:
I definitely also want to do MNSSHP... but not sure of the day. There's one in the middle of the week which I think would be best for crowd levels. The other one I can go to is on a Friday but I feel like that would bring up the crowd levels from the locals? Any thoughts?

Looks like a great plan!!! :thumbsup2 Good luck with your ADRs. I had some difficulties. But they actually turned out to be ok--my DH liked the choice #2 better than the choice #1 :confused3 I'm anxious to see how it works with you using the online system and then calling if you need to!

WOW! You are a super planner. :thumbsup2 I never thought of estimating best and worst park.
We are going 9/22 through 9/28. There are two MNSSHP during our stay. One on Tuesday the 22nd and one on Friday the 25th. My plan is to go to the one on the 25th. Our plane doesn't get in until 4PM on the 22nd and I don't want to feel rushed. :scared:
We did the tea at the GF last year and it was so yummy. My favorite is the Erros tea. All the food is yummy, but they are very good about letting you substitute items. My kids didn't like some of the tea sandwiches and they switched them for a different kind. :)

Ha yeah...I'm an obsessive compulsive disney vacation planner. It's bad. I think I need an intervention!
I would go to the Friday party if I were you too...I hate feeling rushed! :scared1: Depending on when my Florida friends can come (they have flexible schedules so it's possible they can make a weeknight party) will probably be the deciding factor on what day I personally choose. I'm thinking in September the halloween parties wont be that crazy yet.
So glad you liked the GF tea! I keep reading about it and haven't heard any negative comments yet. It sounds fabulous and I think my mom will really like it!

Your plan looks great!!
I usually go ever September, it's my favorite time of the year to go, well, Sept. and October.
I love the Food and Wine Festival, and MNSSHP.
We are missing Sept. this year, because we are going on October, and for NYE.

Joining in. I am enjoying your PTR. I went to your TR and read about your friend's wedding. It was such a beautiful wedding. I cried when I listened to the song, Stealing Cinderella.
Have you decided on a MNSSHP night? I think we are gonna go on the 29th. We are just HOURS away from making our ADRs. Good Luck :thumbsup2

WOOHOOOOO!! Everyone do the happy dance with me! :hippie:
I got EVERYTHING I wanted! All 17 ADRs! Some of the times aren't picture perfect but hey...we'll deal with it! The one I'm the most bummed about is my birthday breakfast at Crystal Palace. I wanted as close to 8am as possible but had to take 9am. I'll check again tomorrow morning on the actual 90 day mark for 9/27.
I made sure to NOT be logged on before 6am. At 6am, I logged on using my email and password that I created. Searched for my first restaurant, when it came up, clicked book a reservation. Then clicked 'associate with a vacation reservation' (or whatever the wording is). Put in my vacation confirmation # and phone number, and it said that I'm staying at POFQ from 9/26-10/3 and all the dates on the calendar were unlocked.
The shopping cart only holds 10 reservations at a time so I had to check out after the first 10, and slowly input my bday celebration into each one (the only annoying part!). After I did it for all of them, I instantly got an email confirmation. I then went ahead and booked the remaining 7 ADRs and did the same thing with the bday.
I was done with all 17 ADRs by 6:35am. Not too shabby.
Oh..not sure if it matters but I normally use Firefox as my browser but read a few posts saying that it was REALLLY slow. I used Safari on my Mac this morning and it was QUICK! I did get a little nervous after I clicked check out for the first 10 ADRs. It took at least a minute for the confirmation page to come up. But it finally did!
Right now I'm on hold with Disney Dining just trying to book the GF Tea for my mom and I on the day we arrive. Can they PLEASE change the song?!??!! I know it's 7am but... if I hear the Main Street song or the Train Conductor ONE MORE TIME!! I've only been on hold with them for 14 mins so far and I've heard both at least 5 times... oh..make that 6. The Main St song just started again :scared1::sad2:
So here is everything I got... In parenthesis I'll put what time I tried for.

I've skimmed thru your ADRs and itinerary... now I'm going to go back and catch up with the rest:thumbsup2

Ha, I'm still trying to figure out who took all my 8am Crystal Palace ADRs! I really don't think the parks are going to be THAT bad. I'm hoping.. lol. And it's defintiely good that they extended free dining. Cross your fingers!
Hey there long time 'no see'!! I'm enjoying your plans!! I'm going to be there the same time as you... we may even pass each other at Epcot on Weds!! We have ADRs for Chefs at 12 noon! :woohoo:
We are doing the MNSSHP in Thurs 10/1... We debated a bit on which day, but thought Fri would be busier with the locals
I've skimmed thru your ADRs and itinerary... now I'm going to go back and catch up with the rest:thumbsup2
Paula
Hey! I didn't realize you had a pre trip going, I'm heading over there right after this! Maybe we'll run into each other :cool1: I also agree that the friday might be busier for MNSSHP too so I'm trying to push for either Tuesday or Thursday!
Excellent ADRs! We won't be crossing paths at TS, but we'll be in Epcot on Monday, AK on Tuesday, Epcot on Wednesday, HS on Thursday and MK on Friday!! Great minds, huh?
Oh, just noticed. Check you itenerary. Maybe you just mis-typed, but MNSSHP is on Oct 1st and 2nd, but you have the 2nd and 3rd marked.
Ohh..thanks for the catch. I think mentally I knew it was the 1st and 2nd.. lol I'll go take a look. :) And definitely great minds! Trying to stay away from some of the chaos! Maybe we'll run into each other!

Ok SO...
So yesterday when my ADR window opened, I wasn't able to get Crystal Palace before park opening. Only 9am and you guys heard about that. :( Today was the exact 90 day mark of the day I want the ADR and I had heard that they open up more tables on the 90 day mark. Sure enough... I logged on (even before 6am because my 90+10 dates were unlocked yesterday) this morning at like 5:50 and I got an 8:15am ADR! SOOO HAPPY! :) I quickly snatched that up and cancelled my 9am ADR.
Then fast forward to exactly 6am this morning... for the heck of it I try to see if any 8:05am slot open. And yet again... IT WAS!!! So I try to quickly grab it and put it in my cart, click continue... and then? The screen just goes white! :scared1: I've read of this happening to other guests and the ADR was made. But I never even got a blank confirmation email? So I have to call Disney Dining in an hour just to make sure I don't have 2 ADRs made.
But I'm happy! Got my birthday breakfast before park opening! :yay:
**** UPDATE!!!
I DID GET 8:05AM!!! I tweaked another ADR of mine and when it listed the confirmation information, it showed my 8:05am Crystal Palace ADR right under it!! SOO HAPPY! Just cancelled the 8:15am one as well****

Yesterday when I went and changed some of mine I got the blank screen TWICE. Then I had to start all over and thank goodness they were all still there. I would definitely call and double check to make sure you didn't double book! When my screen went blank I never got a confirmation email or anything. I tried to book it again and the time slow was already full. Then I had made a different ADR for GFC and when that confirmation came up, the one where the screen went blank came up too! So I had to cancel a few to make sure I wasn't double booked. So confusing!:scared1:

Thanks everyone on the congrats on ADRs! :) I slacked a little checking this thread so I dont' have time to individually reply to all of you...
So October hours were just posted to travel agents. Remember when I said I wanted to avoid DHS at all costs on Fantasmic days?! :( Well guess what's going on at DHS on Oct 1st...the day I'm planning on heading over there?! Yup... Fantasmic!!
Looking at my schedule, and all the ADRs I'd have to do over..I think we're going to just suck it up and head over there on that day. We don't really need to do everything and I'm in no rush to run around the park so we'll try to take our time. I know we dont want to see Indiana Jones, Lights Motor Action show, Beauty and the Beast, American Idol (although I've never seen it...I honestly cant stand the real show), Sounds Dangerous, the backlot tour and a few others. Cross your fingers the park isnt chaos!

I'm sure you'll be fine on the Fantasmic day, if you get there at rope drop then you'll probably be fine. Do all of those big things first like RNRC, TOT, and TSM (if you're doing them) and then do the other stuff. Should work out all right. And hey it might not be so bad in the morning/early afternoon cause maybe most of the people won't get there until later for Fantasmic. Hope it all works out!

I heard on the news that airfare was way down right now, esp Southwest.
I also heard, and looked into it, so I kind of believe it - Airfare starts the week low. And as you go through the week it increases. Like any fare on Monday will go up through the week but by Monday its down again.
Something to check out. Good luck with the tickets - keep us posted!

Hey everyone! OK so I need serious advice about plane tickets!!! :(
Can I tell you that I'm jealous of all of you that don't have to fly out of a New York City airport!!! The airports charge the airlines so much for landing/gate fees that prices are just insane. The only airlines that fly nonstop to MCO from the 3 airports here are Continental, Jet Blue, Delta (for the most part...theres a few others but not any discount ones like Southwest, etc).
The perfect flights I found are leaving Newark at 7am and arriving at 9:40-ish. That gives up plenty of time to get to the hotel with ME and head to the GF for tea. Then our flight would leave at 5pm or 6pm on the way home.
So here's my dilemna.... a month or so ago I saw flights for $250 or $260 and thought even that was a little high so I decided to just wait a little bit. Sure enough I look the past few days and they're $305 and $320. I look this morning...$330!!! :scared1: I almost fell out of my chair.
So now what the heck do I do?!
1) Do I just suck it up and pay the $330 for the perfect flight times I want.... 2) pay $303 to leave Newark an hour later and risk missing the GF Tea.
3) Or should I just wait it out and HOPE and PRAY that they go down or at least NOT go up any more?!
I can book through Orbitz and then if someone books the SAME exact flight going and coming for a cheaper price, they send me the difference. But do I take that chance and hope someone books a cheaper flight?! :scared1:
I need suggestions and words of wisdom!!!
** oh..driving to another airport further away won't work either... I checked and the price to drive out there negates the price difference **

Wow! Those are awful prices! We're in Detroit and we can usually find flights for under $150 pp rt! (our sept fare was $120) I wouldn't count on the discount from Orbitz. We did that in Dec and of course no one booked it cheaper. I do know that one of those sites, not sure if its Expedia or Orbitz etc, does a tracker where they predict if your price will go up or down. You might want to check that out. As for prices, I've found it cheaper to book directly through the airline than through the other sites. Good luck!

Airfare games stink!!
I can fly cheap via southwest.... but I have noticed that even though many of their flights are going down... my MCO flights for September are going up up up! They are $60+ more now then when I booked:scared1: I keep watching, because if they drop I can rebook them and get a credit... but so far no avail.
Can you try to shift the GF tea ressie back an hour or so?? If you can, i'd definately take the later flight and book now. I have not had any luck at all getting my fares to drop on any of my last few flights. Although, I have rather bad luck anyway, so I'm sure that's a factor:lmao:

Yeah I was debating moving back the Tea an hour. And just make sure we eat light since we have Citricos later that evening! :) I think I must have just as bad luck as you so I think I will be booking soon. I might hold off until the end of this week though. I figure I'm already screwed so why not just wait a few more days? hahaha!

It's not too bad if you break it up. We tried to do it without stopping once...never again.
I was looking into airfare a few months ago but couldn't find anything locally for under $200 pp r/trip. When you tack on baggage fees and then transportation for the crusie (in my case) it was just too much money. If you are willing to drive down to Atlantic City and fly Spirit Air, I think they have decent rates.

I almost always fly Continental, so I tend to watch them more often. Their usual trend is to start raising prices toward the end of the week and drop them in the beginning of the week. This works when you are more than 6 weeks out.
So, if you want to hang on until after the weekend, chances are the prices will drop again. I'm looking for my trip in December and they are bouncing between $218 - $228 round trip.
Thankfully, I do not pay baggage fees since I have the Continental card. Though, I do hire a car service to bring me to the airport if family isn't around. It is better, less time consuming, safer and probably less expensive than leaving my car there.
I did, howedver, drive down once. ONCE. Ugh, never again. I'd rather deal with the airport, get there in a couple of hours and have more time on vacation. If you have a large family, then it's totally worth it.

SO... I'm starting from the beginning and I just read the first post. I chuckled a little bit because I saw that you said all the food was too much last time... little did you know that you'd end up booking so many ADRs :)

OK, I'm done and I wanted to catch up by commenting on everything I would have so I am sorry for the long post:
1. Let's start with the current issue: I know what you mean about flying NYC-MCO. So I know I am not from NYC or the Orlando but I am a die-hard Yankees fan... from Oregon (I get a lot of crap for it). But, in being so- I had to go to the very last Yankees game at the old Yankee Stadium and when was that?... right in the middle of our Sept 2008 trip.
Now, I go to NYC a lot anyway, my best friend lives there and would marry the city if I could. But naturally, I HAD to go to the last game and did so on Sept 20 and 21 right smack dab in the middle of my WDW trip. Finding airfare was not fun but after a while on checking we ended up grabbing a $168 rt pp fare!!!
But essentially, I paid something like $300 per ticket to go to these games because they were really important to me so unless the airfare was more than the tickets... I was going to book it no matter what. Plus we got a REALLY good deal on the Grand Hyatt we couldn't pass up.
My point is (after that really long response) keep on the pursuit, even if you have to go out through JFK... which I HATE! but I had to endure. I hope something will come up favorable for you.
Fwiw, we flew Delta that time and when I flew solo from WDW to NYC in 2007 it was also Delta.
2. As for the moving back of the Tea time, personally- I wouldn't recommend it. We went last year and the earliest ADR I could get was 4:30PM :confused3 we go there at about 3:45 in hopes that we could just go in earlier and there were only 2 other groups there, who were almost done! They left about 15 minutes into our afternoon tea and it was the weirdest thing to be there alone so late. Also, the ladies seemed like they really wanted us out of there.
It was also a good thing I had decided on having my mom's birthday cake delivered there instead of at a different restaurant because there wasn't much left in terms of dessert options. I don't remember what tea package we picked but I think we got to pick 2 desserts each and there were only about 7 to pick from.
Not to put a damper on things.
3. Now to be back on order in which I would have commented: that's awesome you decided to go for POFQ this time! I plan on trying different resorts throughout my years but it's so hard to pull away from Pop Century especially when I look at the price tag. You're going to have to report back on the Resort Board about your experience there.
It was on the short list for me in April but renting DVC points at BWV won. We're going in January also, although not during the same time as you, staying at AKV Kidani. When I am there, I plan on doing the 4 parks in 1 day challenge but the only day I find feasible (sp?) would be on our arrival day :scared1: which has led me to need to book another day before we check-in at AKV. POFQ has made it back on that short list... as has Pop, of course :) and WL or AKL, depending upon what the AP rate is- so please, let me know youur experience at POFQ.
4. Which brings me to the next point... I feel like I am in the same boat as you in the AP. Normally we only go once a year but I think I have gone insane and booked 3 trips for the upcoming year so of course I will have to upgrade to an AP also.
5. A marathon??? WOW! Are you doing the full marathon? If so then :thumbsup2:thumbsup2 Very good for you! I think I am going to try my first half marathon in October in SF but I am not sure... I'm signed up but I'm still uncertain. Have you looked into the Expedition Everest Challenge? I guess it's on your arrival night, that would be too tricky... but it looks fun!
6. That's awesome you like going with you mom to WDW! I do too! I just feel as if it's more memories with my MOMMY!! The person who without her, I wouldn't be here. Does she ever get bored being a picky eater?
7. I hope you're able to suck in a new Disneyaholic. My BF does not like Dinsey :( He gives me crap all the time for liking it so much. He's gone to DL twice and has sworn it off completely, even WDW! They don't even compare! I personally don't love DL that much but if given the oppurtunity to live in WDW, I would.
Hopefully, you'll turn him :)
Sorry it's been so long, it probably would have been longer (overall) if I started from the get go but I didn't.
Is your name Jen? Did I catch that in there somewhere?

Thanks for the advice! I'll keep on looking and I'll hold off until the weekend to see what happens. I think for the morning going out there we'll probably use a car service as well. On the way home I might be able to get one of my friends to pick us up. :)
Good luck. I hope you can get a decent price.
I usually fly Southwest, and being so close, I usually can get a great deal, but I have noticed it's a little higher lately, than normal.
Thank you! I heard that Southwest was supposed to start flying into/out of the nyc airports more frequently and for cheaper but I haven't seen anything yet! :( I checked just before and they were still rediculously expensive! :confused3
OK, I'm here now
I have always seen the link in your signature, well since it's been there, but everytime I get into reading someone's PTR or TR, I want to start one for myself... then I get lazy and "forget" about it :rotfl:
But since I had to check out the Legandary Years excursion that you sent me to this morning, I had to check in on the current PTR also.
SO... I'm starting from the beginning and I just read the first post. I chuckled a little bit because I saw that you said all the food was too much last time... little did you know that you'd end up booking so many ADRs :)
I'll get to reading, be back in a little while. :surfweb:
Welcome over! Hahahaha...yeah, there is going to be a LOTTTTT of food consumption. I need to start starving myself like NOW! :scared1: do you have a trip report? I don't see one in your sig!
Ok now onto your long post :) I totally feel you with the Yankee obsession. I'm the same way but luckily I'm about 8 miles from Yankee Stadium so it's a quick hop, skip, and jump away. I've already been to 4 games this season and am HOPING to go to another one soon! That's awesome that you went to the last game!!! I totally wanted to but none of my other friends were willing to pay $300 for bleacher seats! Then of course as we're all watching on tv they all agreed that it was the coolest thing EVER and they were pissed we didn't go.
I actually don't mind flying out of JFK! Newark is definitely my favorite of the 3 and I will NOT fly out of LaGuardia....EVER. Unless that's the ONLY airport that offers that destination :sad2: I have a bunch of friends that are pilots or work out of one of the 3 major airports and they always talk about how sketchy LGA is. The runways are way too short for the size of the jets that are flying in there every day. The pilots have to pretty much make a perfect landing every single time. Plus LGA is the worst airport around thats known for their obscene amount of birds and geese and they haven't done anything about them in forever. Umm....does anyone remember Sully's flight into the Hudson? Came from LGA. They've known about the geese problem and still nothing. Bleh...no thanks. I'd rather spend the extra $40 a ticket to fly into EWR or JFK. There's a million more stories that I hear about LGA but who knows how many times those stories have been 'expanded' so I won't go into it here. :)
As for the Tea, I think I'll keep it for 2:30pm. Even if I take the 8am flight...it'll give me 3 hours from when we land (if it's on time!) to head over to POFQ and then to the GF. I know its going to be cutting it close but I'll take my chances. if we miss it, so be it. I'll call when we're on the way to see what they say if we're running late. If we get there a little late, hopefully they take us! Looking at the menu's I dont think we'll do a tea package. Maybe just order a la carte. :)
I will DEFINITELY be making a ton of trip reports for this trip! I'll make resort report in the resort threads... the trip report here... and a full blown out dining report over in that section! :) :woohoo: POFQ just looks perfect for us so I can't wait to try it! The price difference from Pop did make me think twice though. I've never rented points but I should probably look into that for my next trip!

Totally agree about traveling with mom! :) As for food....I joke with her and tell her she's crazy because she honestly only eats to survive. On the other hand I LIVE for eating! haha! She eats until she's satisfied and thats it. Nothing more, nothing less. There's a few things that she LOVES but I would think you HAVE to get bored after awhile being so picky!

Alrighty guys...I need food advice this time! :)
So I just got the Tweet from DisneyParks that Kouzzina is scheduled to open Sept 17th... :D YAYYYY!!! ADRs start tomorrow mornign though! eek!
Now I just have to figure out which ADR I want to get rid of and put Kouzzina in for. With my mom being from Greece, I think she'll love this...as long as it's good food! So which one of my Epcot ones do I get rid of?
I have Tutto twice..one for lunch...one for dinner. I COULD get rid of the dinner one (kouzzina is only open for dinner I believe) but I LOVE Tutto! We also really like Teppan Edo too so I dont want to get rid of that. Ugh... I think it might be Tutto.
I then also could do a different day but that messes up my travel plans! lol...
Yak & Yeti we really liked so I'd like to do that on our AK day. The MK days I'm keeping with Kona and Tonys. Mama Melrose I wouldn't mind getting rid of on our MGM day especially since I'm having real italian at Tutto. Hmmmmm!
What do you guys think? Get rid of... Tutto dinner, Mama, or Yak? :)

I like your line of thinking getting rid of Mama Melrose's especially since you love tutto (I do too).
Is there a menu out for Kouzzina's? I'm gonna miss Spoodles as it was one of my favorite meals in 08, but looking forward to a new restaurant in the Boardwalk area.
I guess I can wait to hear how you like it since I can't make ADRs for 3 months.....;)

So I take it you're not a huge fan of Mama's either? :rotfl: I only made an ADR there because I didn't want to jump around to a different park. Our last meal at Mama's could have used a lot of improvement! And I can NEVER get sick of Tutto. My mouth is watering just thinking about the prosciutto and melon...mmm!
If I'm at the Boardwalk for kouzzina...I could take the bus back to DTD and then ferry back to POFQ. Hmmmm! I have to see how many things we want to do at MGM and see if i'ts possible to do them all before 5pm. I'm thinking it is :woohoo: We're not big into the shows there except Lil Mermaid.
Plus if I'm at the Boardwalk and we're not tired... I can wander around the F&W a little bit!
No menu that I have found yet. But maybe tomorrow when it gets loaded into the dining system? i still highly doubt it though. Cat Cora mentioned in the article that it's traditional Greek dishes, etc. If they have Pasticio and moussaka...and the cheap good old staples of souvlaki and gyros... I'm sold! Lamb chops would be the icing on the cake  I love my Greek food but don't need anything fancy...but fancy is also welcome.
I will be sure to give you a full detailed report when I get home!

You can always do what you need to do at DHS and take the ferry to the Boardwalk and then take the ferry back to DHS to catch your bus back to POFQ. It depends on the time of your ADR at Kouzzina.

I think you should change the mama's ADR. It seems like your mom would love the new ADR and since you love Tutto so much I wouldn't get rid of that one. Mama's is nice but like you said you're getting Italian food at Tutto.

Ok now onto your long post :) I totally feel you with the Yankee obsession. I'm the same way but luckily I'm about 8 miles from Yankee Stadium so it's a quick hop, skip, and jump away.
My father was a huge Yankees fan and if he was still here with us, he would have been crushed by closing of the stadium. He was there all the time.
I'm named after Mickey Mantle, not a long cherished family member, but a ball player. My sibling are both named after people. So, mymom changed that at the hospital and put Michele on the birth certificate instead. Thank goodness. :lmao: I shudder to think what my childhood would be like if my name was Mickey, coupled with my last name bgins with an M and very Italian. It's good for a mouse, not a little girl in Catholic school.
Same here. I always prefer Newark since it is so close. And there's no real price savings over LGA or JFK when factoring in time to get there.
I fly LGA, only if there is no other option. And, it's smack dab in a middle of a residential section!
As for the Tea, I think I'll keep it for 2:30pm. Even if I take the 8am flight...it'll give me 3 hours from when we land (if it's on time!) to head over to POFQ and then to the GF.
Worst comes to worst, you can always cab it to GF.
I want to do the tea when I go in December. I hope I can!
POFQ just looks perfect for us so I can't wait to try it!
I loved POFQ. I have a review in my March trip report. It was great!!

I think you should change the mama's ADR. It seems like your mom would love the new ADR and since you love Tutto so much I wouldn't get rid of that one. Mama's is nice but like you said you're getting Italian food at Tutto.
Yup...I"m thinking I'm changing Mama's! I know some people love it but we just didn't have a great time there last time. I was totally wiling to give it another try though. Guess that'll have to wait until the next trip :)

Aww... yay for your mom for changing your name! :rotfl: Mickey is pretty cool but more for a baseball kid. My friends brother is Michael and they always call him Mickey...it fits him. Again...just like I told Jordan... I honeslty keep forgetting about all the different transportation...DUH I totally forgot I could cab it to the GF! :worship:
And it's official... I'm going to try to get rid of Mama's and replace it with Kouzzina  Wish me luck tomorrow morning!

I am glad I found your post about Koussina. I want to try it but I don't know what ADR I want to switch either. I guess I am going to have to sleep on it.
YOU haven't found airfare yet? If you want to drive about 2 hrs you can fly out of Atlantic City. Thats what we are doing and we live in PA. Its so worth it, no hassle with crowds plus I scored a great deal a few months ago. $226 round trip for both of us. It helps that our family lives at the shore so we can crash there the night before and night after.

I wanted to thank you though for getting the word out about Kouzzina. It was possible I may not have even been able to eat there so thank you SO MUCH :worship::worship::worship:
I love greek food... LOVE IT so I really hope it's more Greek-y than Spoodles is. Cat Cora (my favorite Iron Chef) is more of a southern style chef with Greek influences so I am curious to see what kind of cuisine we're looking at here.
The CMs told me when I was booking my ADR that the restaurant opens on August 15 and that people who were booked for Spoodles after that date were notified about the restaurant change... so hopefully we'll all get to see a menu beforehand.

Well hi Jenn! I'm Dayna... or Super-awesome Dayna, which ever you'd like to use
No, I don't have a PTR going. I really should, idk if you've noticed but I really enjoy talking about myself but what other 22 year old girl doesn't? I just get so lazy sometimes BUT since we're looking at 100+ degree weather all week :scared1: here I might be indoors in the AC all week so I may find time.
YAYYYYY FOR YANKEES FANS!!! They lost today :sad1: I wish I lived 8 miles away. I'm so glad I got to experience of being there the last two games, even if it meant taking away some WDW days. On 9/20, I was over by the 3rd base side foul pole and someone had a Sharpie so some of us were able to sign it! See below:

:scared1::scared1::scared1: I had NO IDEA about LaGuardia! OMG, that is scary, I am glad I've only flown into LGA once and that's it. I've just had such bad luck with JFK.
Have you found a the flights yet? That has to be so frustrating. Have you thought about flying out really late at night on Sept 25 and just spending the night at a value with a special room rate?
Wow, congratulations on doing the half  The full can be saved for another year, I think I want my first full to be done at Disney but I am in no way ready. I don't think I am even going to be able to do the SF half in October. I was on track but I recently sprained my ankle which I should still be ok but now I'm kind of hesitant and I am going to be coming off of an eating binge at Disney... idk, I have a little bit still to decide. If it was on flat terrain it'd be a different story but San Francisco is the hilliest (idk if this is even a word) city.
I don't how your mom does it! I would get so bored... maybe she gave you all her desire to eat when she had you or something. I'm with you- I love food. The only thing I am picky about is mushrooms, I refuse to eat them.
Holy moly... I really should write a PTR because I really like to talk apparently. It might be my state of mind right now because I am very tired but whatever. I just like to talk ok? You all can tell me to shut up all you want :)

Hey Super Awesome Dana :) Mama Melrose got the axe for us for Kouzzina. Can't wait! I'll post a real update in a few minutes about everything. I'm hoping it's awesome. Everything she makes sounds fabulous when I watch on tv.
I'm still voting that you make a TR...I think it'll be hilarious :)
I hate when injuries get in the way of training and stuff. I've just been slightly lazy. Well, actually...my FRIENDS have been slightly lazy! :scared1: We were all supposed to run 8 miles yesterday..I get to my friends house...and both of them back out! Ugh! I should have just went on my own.

Woohoooo! Finally an update of substance for you guys!! :)
So first Kouzzina... I was up bright and early the other day trying to make online reservations and of course...Disney still hasn't created the page for the restaurant yet! UGH! Figures...so I had to wait around for an hour and call in to Disney Dining. I got a CM immediately, which was awesome and she was really sweet. Told her Kouzzina and she knew exactly what I wanted. I was able to snag a 7:05pm dinner for our MGM day. Hung up the phone and then realized that I probably should make the dinner closer to 8pm since we'd be traveling there and then not going back after dinner to finish up the park. So hmm....back on the phone I go. This CM was very sweet but...had NO clue. I told her Kouzzina... she told me we weren't allowed to book it yet. I told her I had JUST booked she then looked again and said it wasn't showing up so obviously I can't book it yet. I kindly asked if she was spelling it correctly and spelled it for her and then she realized her mistake. She was looking for Cousina or something similar. She appologized and said she hadn't heard about the ADRs yet. I was able to get a 7:45pm ADR, sweet! Hung up.
Oh! So when she asked me to confirm all my information and reservation, she asked me for my phone number. None of the other CMs asked..just my name and address. So I gave her my number and she said that they didnt match. Hmm...really?! I asked her to give me the number that they had on file and I had NO clue what the number was. I said thanks, she told me she changed it...and I hung up. Oh I also cancelled my 7:05pm res. By then I was intrigued. So I googled the phone number that they had on file. Turns out it was my dads OLD business line in my old house from when I was a child. I honestly don't think that phone number has been in service for a good 20 years now!!! CRAZY! I'm even surprised googled had that information!
Anyways....Hmm.....then my brain starts working...there's a few days on our epcot days that we don't have an ADR planned for breakfast. I wonder what type of breakfast Kouzzina will have.... called back disney dining... ;) This CM was awesome too (Again, no hold time!) and he knew what I was talking about when I said Kouzzina and said he's already gotten a ton of calls for it. I mentioned it's probably because there is no online reservation for it and he laughed and said 'figures!'. There was a 7:55am breakfast available so i took that for one of our epcot days. :) I also brought up the phone number and he also looked and said the old phone number was still on there associated with me and my mothers names. He kindly went into the main reservation system and changed the actual resort reservation for me. I got a confirmation email while on the phone with him too which was nice. Then he pulled up ALL my ADRs using the old phone number (there were 3 or 4) and made sure to change all those too. Also while on the phone I asked him to check one of my old ADRs to see if I added the birthday correctly when I reserved online. He said it's too time consuming to check but instead he just pulled them all up and did a mass override on the special notes and added my bday to all of them just in case some were missed. I really should have gotten his name. He was awesome and so sweet!
WHEW!! So that's my ADR update... Up next?! AIRFARE! EEK!
So I don't know what Continental is smoking but their airfare went up AGAIN! The same flights are now $370!?!?! Are they crazy? So I then checked JetBlue since I've heard great things about them and low and behold... their price is $100 cheaper at $270! So I mulled it over for a little bit. The outgoing flight is at 7am which I like but their return flight is at 2:40pm..I had wanted a little later. :( I checked again this morning for both airlines and Continental hadn't dropped at all so I sucked it up and just booked the JetBlue flight. Crappy part is that if I fly home Sunday instead of Saturday, there IS a 7pm flight home on JetBlue. Why can't they have it on Saturday?!?! :( Not that I'm complaining TOOOO much :) I just wish we'd have more time in the parks on our last day.
If our flight is at 2:40pm out of MCO.... Magical Express usually picks you up around 2 hours and 45 mins before, right? So around noon I'd have to be back at or hotel for pickup? :( Blah!
But there ya have it... my chaotic week of reservations! :)

We did get ARDs for Kouzzina for our last day for dinner. I am excited to try it. I am FoodNetwork fan too. I have only been to Bobby Flay's(Bar American) and Emerils(Universal) and the Rachel Ray show once. We tried Paula Deens "Lady and Sons" on a whim but couldn't get in. I have been to Atlantic city and seen Giada and Paula Deen at the casino for special shows they have done which was fun. I have autograph cookbooks from Bobby, Emeril, Rachel Ray, Paula Deen, Tyler Florence.

Whoo-hoooo! Good for you! :woohoo::woohoo:
Did you get the other ADRs you wanted?
Sorry to hear about Continental - sometimes they are b*tchy! I recently flew Virgin America out of San Fran to Vegas and what a cool airline. I so wish they were in Newark! Continental is an old man compared to VA.
I always check Jet Blue to see if they have better prices and they never do. Though, my sister just booked them for her vaca next week. I flew them once from Newark to San Diego, I think. I don't remember anything horrible happening, so it must have been good. :goodvibes

Congrats on finding relatively good airfare... I feel your pain about the different prices and trying to find the best deal. Ugghh!
OMG, you have spend a ton of time and energy on your ADR's I hope everything is perfect for your trip. Now you need to work on the rest of the planning, ie. the packing lists, the schedules, the budget the last minute to do things.. (if you have those done I could use your help here because those things are overwhelming me right now. :cutie:)
Can't wait to read more!

I cant wait to hear the first reviews come in during August for the soft opening. I won't take them too seriously though because I know all restaurants have a trial period where everyone is trying to fall into the groove of things. I've been to Emerils a few times and Bobby Flays Mesa Grill and Bobby's Burger Palace. I'm actually supposed to go to Mesa Grill again tonight for NYC's restaurant week but I have to cancel the reservation :sad2: I would love to see Giada and Paula Deen...love them both! Rachel Ray I could do without though! :scared1:

Yup! I got alllllll the ADR's I wanted, couldn't be happier. now I just have to figure out where to store all that food in my body as well as the f&w snacks! :scared1: I'm getting nauseous just thinking about it, haha! omg so I just had a slight mental breakdown with continental but all is now well. I just checked for the heck of it to see if prices dropped from this morning. WELLLLL.... I put in all my search criteria and flights came up for $158!!!! :scared: I almost choked and fell out of my chair. Luckily upon closer examination...the $158 was for HORRIBLE flight times. The 'normal' flight times were still $350 or so. WHEW!! I was about to call and complain to anyone that would listen!
I've heard good things about JetBlue so I'm excited. The big leather seats and free DirecTV has my hopes up :)

Thank you Mickey_Dust! :) I hate airlines! At least with JetBlue if I see that flights dropped in price I can call them and get a credit for the difference towards another flight with them!
And yup.... ADRs are BIG in my family. I LOVE to eat and try new things. My mom? not so much. But I take after my dad and the Italian side of the family. The rest usually just falls into place for us. There are a few attractions that we MUST see and others that we don't mind passing up until next time. I'm going to just try doing everything my mom wants and can do. I'll be heading back down in january for the half marathon with a younger more adventurous crowd so that's when we'll go crazy. This is all about sitting and relaxing and taking it all in.. :)

I can't wait to hear how Kouzzina is! I am excited to perhaps try it myself soon.
The whole phone number thing just seems wierd. I'm glad that nice CM was able to clear everything up. We've been at the resort before and sometimes if the info doesn't match up, it won't pull up the ADRs even though they are in the system.
I'm surprised that flights are that expensive coming from where u are. Flights from the West Coast can be similarly priced!

Definitely not TOO bummed about leaving earlier than planned since we are saving money but now I have to figure out what to do on our last day. I might move up breakfast a little (right now it's at 9am) so that we have time to do some stuff before having to head back to the resort to catch magical express.

The trip coming up for me has been in the works for about 2 years now, so at this point I feel like I'm just waiting for the trip to come.
Enjoyed reading so far!
Welcome! Time to go browse your report now :) And definitely have to check out some of your photos on flickr. I think I've seen you around the photography boards? I'm no on there as much as I'd like to but I have to go over there more. We can't view flickr or photobucket photos at work so it's pretty useless when I browse this site from here. All the photos just show up blank and I forget to go back on at home and recheck!

I actually found DIS because of the photography boards. At first I just hung out there, but have since branched out. I've been (and still am) a member of another WDW board, but have been spending more and more time here lately.

I am just now joining your ptr! I have enjoyed reading it so far! We will be in disney part of the time you are there - our trip is 9/19-9/27. We are celebrating both my bday and my friend Mindy's bday (hers is the 26th). How excited are you about F & W? We didn't see much of it last year, but intend to spend some more time there at epcot this year! Look forward to reading more of your planning!
It seems a lot of DISers are going around this time. I'll be there 9/20-9/29!

I remember seeing a poll on the week that DISers are going to WDW and the most by far was the week of 19-26! :scared1:

Not yet. I really think it might be a last minute decision. I would love to see the parade and the headless horseman. As well as shorter lines on all the big rides that my mom won't ride but I'll have to see. I have to talk to my friend in FL and see if her and a few others will come out for it. :)

hopefully the week after is much quieter ;)

So I'm browsing stuff online today during my lunch break and I decided I wanted to buy a travel journal to write down stuff that happens during my Disney trips.
I think I have an OLD one from when I was a teenager with maybe 2 or 3 Disney trips. then i kinda gave up on it and haven't done one since (for disney trips). I also have anohter old journal with the beginning of trip reports but then I usually give up half way though and rely on photos.
This time though (and my trip in jan!) I REALLLY want to stick to it. So I browsed a bunch of sites, looked at etsy, and then finally found this cute journal perfect for Disney journals..

Here's the link to purchase it (http://www.hellotraveler.com/detail.aspx?ID=1559&Name=Vintage-Mickey-Journal)
Now I have NO idea how this online store is yet so I'm not going to praise them in any way yet. I'll let you guys know how it looks when I get it in the mail! :)

Cool journal!
I've been thinking about note-taking, but I think I'll do most of it on my iPhone. That's what the Notes app is for, right? I'll have all my other stuff on there anyway between Google Docs and TripIt.
I still have just over a month to change my mind 50 times...

I have to decide how I want to take notes - but I think that is the cutest notebook I've seen in a while!

Cool! Just be careful of the binding. It may catch on your backpack/purse.
I have found that little journals with no metal binding really lay flat and doesn't take up too much room.
Though, the journal is the cutest!!! :goodvibes

I knowww! :( That thought definitely crossed my mind before I bought it but I usually have bags big enough that there's enough room and things don't get stuck/caught. I have had small spiral journals in my purse before and haven't had too much problem. I'm crossing my fingers this stays the same!

The journal is really cute! I haven't decided if I'm going to keep a journal or not. I may bring my laptop to upload pics now and then so maybe I'll keep it on there.

What a cute journel!! I'm doing the same thing and I looked everywhere for a cute one, of course couldn't find one so I found a notebook for 15 cents and bought some stickers to put on it. So that will have to do!! Anyway, I really like it!!

Thanks! I'm also bringing my laptop and I know I type a LOT faster than I can write so I might have to switch over. Or maybe just make bullet points with names/key points in the journal so I can remember details for when I actually type it out, ya know? I did that for my trip to Sicily and it was great!

Yes!! Lisa with the baby is the same Lisa that got married at Disney :) He's officially a Disney baby and will never be a Sesame Street/Looney Tunes Baby... all his clothes...all his room...everything Disney. he's taking his first trip there in December. :) I can not wait to see the photos of him and the characters!

Sweet purchase on a 15 cent notebook! My problem is when I'm bored at work I tend to spend money I really don't need to! :confused3

Ugh! I'm avoiding the HSM and HM stuff at MGM like the plague! :( Enough already!

OK guys.... I need some help/ideas/suggestions/all that good stuff in regards to the quickest forms of transportation to and from a few locations (mostly from POFQ to other hotels). Most of these are before park opening (8am breakfasts usually). So here's what I have so far:
POFQ to the GF: take bus to MK and either monorail or boat it over to GF
POFQ to the Contemporary: take bus to MK and either monorail or walk it over to Contemp
POFQ to the Boardwalk: here's where I'm a little lost.... bus it over to Epcot and then..? Someone mentioned a boat from Epcot to Boardwalk? Where do I get the boat? I can't walk through the park b/c it's 8am. Bus?
DHS to Boardwalk: bus directly?
POFQ to Poly: bus to MK and then monorail or boat to Poly
Thanks for any help guys! :)

POFQ to GF: As far as I know, you've listed the only ways to get to a monorail resort from a non-monorail resort.
POFQ to Contemporary: walk would probably be quicker
POFQ to Boardwalk: A boat goes from the International Gateway to Boardwalk, Yacht & Beach Club, and DHS. I'm not sure about this one since it's before park opening. Otherwise I would suggest bus to EPCOT, go through Future World to the International Gateway (it's by England IIRC), then take a boat (aka FriendShip) to Boardwalk.
DHS to Boardwalk: Take the FriendShip from DHS to Boardwalk.
POFQ to Poly: bus to MK then monorail is how I'm getting there

For your breakfast at Boardwalk, I'd take a cab. We took cabs from POFQ a couple times and it was around $15 including tip. From DHS to Boardwalk you could take the bus or the boat. We took the boat a few times and its a nice, relaxing ride. Your plans for visiting the monorail resorts are good!
