We just got our room assignment (YAY!) and we're wondering if anyone can comment on whether or not we should plan on combatting motion sickness? Any recommendations? (yes, we're cruise newbies!) We got the front of Deck 2.

We have only cruised forward on the ship and LOVE it! I feel more motion on deck 3 and 4 aft in the dining rooms than I do on decks 5 or 7 forward. It never takes me more than a few minutes to fall asleep being rocked by the waves. :) I do take Bonine starting the day before we board...earlier if we are going to the parks which we usually do. I continue taking it every morning on the ship and then for 3-4 days after getting off the ship. This has helped me to avoid the land leg swaying that some report experiencing after the cruise.

While my partner seems immune from sea sickness, I swear by Bonine and also take it daily beginning before the cruise and continuing a few days after.

Thanks...that makes me feel better already! Even if you said, "Yeah, it was like a roller coaster on steroids" I would still be just as excited to go! :rotfl:

Thanks to you too, M4travel, I'm glad the Bonine works for you! I'll be picking some up tomorrow! (You can never shop too early!)

On our first cruise we were in 7010 with 20+ foot swells 3 of the 7 days when in motion. It was ... neat. LOL! :goodvibes

Dec 07 we were in the very forward to the Wonder on deck 2
Dec 08 we were in the very back of the Aft of Deck 2

so same decks total opposite ends,

We LOVED the very forward of the Ship as I was SICK:sick: in the Aft! Now keep in mind that we were going out on the night of a cold front in Dec so we hit some pretty nice waves:rotfl: We had late dining at PC and at one point the ship moved so dramatically everyone went WOOOOO! It was quite funny and it was at that moment that I was done and looked at the DH and we excused ourselves from our table. The thing that made it so different from the forward of the ship was that in the forward I felt like I was being rocked to sleep nice smooth rhythm where as in the Aft I was begging God to let me fall asleep which he did and then I woke up in Nassau the next morning:yay:

Just take your meds and stay in the forward:thumbsup2

The first time we sailed was in the spring of 2006. All was fine till dinner time our first night on board. Dinner was in Animator's palate, with no windows. There was a beautiful meal sitting on the table in front of me, when very slowly nausea creeped up on me. The server got me some crackers, can't say they really helped, but the nausea was gone by bed time and never came back.
We sail again for the second time this coming fall, and I'm hoping I'm sure the nausea either wont' happen, or will be just as mild as it was the first time.

when we cruised last April, we definitely felt movement more when we were in the Walt Disney Theater which is forward, as opposed to our cabin which was aft. It really didn't bother any of us much, neither one of us got sick from motion sickness.

Going through the gulf stream that first night can be lethal. We usually order gingerale with dinner just to make sure.

Ginger Ale...Duh why did I not think of that last time::sad2:

It may be because my head was buried in the pillow! it would have been a big help:cheer2: There is always December!

Ditto on the Walt Disney Theater thing! That was the one place my husband couldn't hang. The first night we went to a show he lasted about 10 minutes and said "I have to get out of here" Funny though, when I was worried about possible seasickness prior to the cruise, he made fun of me and said "you're not going to get sick". I felt a little woozy in the theater, but took a bonine from then on when I went in and I was fine.
