I cannot decide what to choose for our family. Right now I have the QSDP booked, but it does seem like my youngest ds will be eating nuggets and grapes for every meal!!! Also my dd who will have just turned 10 will have ALOT of food for her 60lb. body!
I chose not to go with the regular DDP because after looking over the menus I could not imagine either of my older kids finding one thing they would eat at the TS restaurants. :sad2:
I would love for my youngest ds to be able to have some things he is used to at home like mashed potatoes, green beans, etc.! Basically what it boils down to is that on the QSDP my youngest ds will have the same boring junk every day, but on the reg. DDP my older kids will eat none of the adult selections!:confused3
We do all love breakfast, but on the dining plans that will be the meal eaten in the room or used as a snack credit! As far as restaurants..something like the Rainforest Cafe is more my speed. For example at home I mostly eat at TGI Friday's(gimme nachos and a margarita and I am a happy camper!!)
Maybe the dining plan is not for us!! LOL..after all of my rambling does anyone have any suggestions for us? We will be in the world for 9 nights in June!!:dance3:

It sounds to me like you should just pay OOP. Then you are not held to which part of the menu each kid can order off of.

I would have to agree with brokenlola. While I love the dining plans with everything that you have written, I think you might be better just paying OOP than getting on any of the dining plans.

Well go to places like Cosmic Ray's for counter service lunch & have the older kids "Disney adults" get the chicken & ribs combo - which comes with mashed potatoes & green beans. have the little one get the nuggets & grapes and then share the meals out between the kids so they're all getting a variety of food. You can do this at resort counter service every time - there are usually several different combo meal choices (not all burgers, fries, pizza or nuggets!) If your family is not big eaters you may find you can share many meals -- those combo meals are often quite large quantities of food. Don't know how many total you have in the family, but for example if it's 2 adults & 2 kids, you may find you can usually use 2 CS at breakfast at your resort & split among the four of you (with maybe buying an extra pastry or muffin out of pocket) Then split 2 CS at lunch the same way -- again, getting the large combo type meals. Then use 4 CS at dinner to fill everyone up. Just a thought.

Don't get a DDP. That way you are committed to nothing. You can eat where ever you want. Then when you go back another time, you will have a better idea of what you want to do.
We didn't get a DDP on our last trip, in part, because I would usually rather eat a salad and an appetizer than an entree.

We booked the QSDP for next month. I was not going to do a dining plan at all at first because of the ages of my children. I have one "disney adult" and one child on the dining plan. However, when I did the calculations and looked at the big picture, we will save on this plan. What I am going to do is have my older dd share some of her food with her younger sister. My youngest actually eats more than my oldest, so this will work well for us. I have talked with both of my dds and they are really excited about getting to eat off of the kids and the adults menu. So, at our counter service meals we will just let them share and swap out whatever they want to. For instance, at Cosmic Ray's, my oldest dd will order the chicken and rib combo with mashed potatoes and green beans. Well, my dd11 does not eat green beans, so my dd7 will get to eat those and also, my dd11 will give my dd7 some of her ribs, etc. Sometimes, my dd7 may eat the adult meal and my dd11 eat the kids meal. I think you will be fine as long as your children are willing to share some. I will also be willing to share some of my meal with my dd7 if needed because I normally cannot eat alot at one time. I didn't want to do the regular DDP because I didn't want to be tied to reservations and it is cheaper to do the QSDP also. Good luck on deciding!:thumbsup2
