I keep reading about folks booking another cruise while still onboard. We are going on our first DCL trip in October and I'm wondering if the prices are really THAT good to plan ahead for another trip? We're starting "small" with the 3-day Wonder cruise and I'd like to think we will advance to a longer one someday~~~~~~~~~~

I found the price to be not fabulaous, but good. The thing that got me was that the special was only offered for cruises in a two month period. The big drawl is the $200 ship board credit that they offer.

We booked a 7-day while on the Wonder. From what we can remember, booking in advance saved about $300 (plus or minus $50) for the three of us.

However, we ended up losing that savings becuase the dates we picked didn't work out. We ultimatley booked through our TA and got the list price. There was no penalty for canceling that first booking. So, if you plan a little beforehard, it can save you some money.

As Robin said, the benefit of booking onboard is the onboard credit. What you save is the regular Early Booking Savings that you would get by calling in and pricing it directly with DCL on the same day.
The way I look at it, if you can afford to tie up the deposit money, booking onboard is always a great idea, if it doesn't work out later, you can cancel as long as it is before your final payment is due and get a full refund.

I remember looking at the sheet at the desk where they were doing bookings and there was savings up to about $6-700, my husband was very bummed that we couldnt' book another one but because he is in the coast guard we don't know where we will be next year. We can't wait to go back though.
