wow, hi everyone! lots of people on board, yahooo!!!

this is gonna be a real real quickie, i have to head out the door in about 5 minutes. but anyway, here we go!!!!

Main Street Bakery, breakfast, 3.4.08

The line wasn't too bad when I arrived here around 10:15am. I'm used to seeing it all the way out to the door, but I only had like 10 people in front of me. So that made me happy. But what didn't make me happy? Well, when I asked for a French Toast Loaf, I was told they retired it. What???? I know, you all have had time to digest this by now, but it was a major shocker for me. I may have mentioned this before, but this is seriously the ONLY food in the world (not just the Disney World, the entire World!!!) that I sincerely looked forward to eating. And they took it away. I almost cried. I kid you not.

So I stood there in shock for a couple minutes, and finally decided I may as well try the cinnamon roll, since it gets rave reviews on here too. Well, fine, that will have to do. And I always get a plain soymilk here. So I asked for one. To my surprise (again!!!), well, they have downsized. It used to be a nice big bottle, but now it's like a juice pack thing. Bummer! Also grabbed a banana on my way to check out.

And so here's my tray
http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r149/marsh0013/disney%202009%20mar%204-11/day%201%20MK%20EP%20MGM/pic036.jpg

And a close up of the cinnamon roll
http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r149/marsh0013/disney%202009%20mar%204-11/day%201%20MK%20EP%20MGM/pic037.jpg

I'm sorry, I wanted to love it. Maybe it was just the disappointment, but well, I thought it was just okay. I will not be waiting on any long bakery lines anytime in the near future. At least not unless they unretire my beloved french toast loaf.

next up: drinks, of course!

I'm so sorry about the French Toast Loaf. I guess I don't understand why they would retire something that was so popular. And I'm sad to say I never had the pleasure of tasting it.

World Showcase, alcohol, 3.4.08

So my first day was jam packed. About as jam packed as it could possibly get! I had spent the night before w/my BFF's parents (you'll see them later at California Grill, er, or at least their food!), and BFF's dad got me to Pop in time to check in and get to MK for opening. Can't stress enough how much I love these people! They are my Florida parents. For real.

Okay, so you saw what I had in the MK. Then I headed over to the WWoS for the Yankees vs. Braves game. I'm a Yankees fan. I know this isn't a trip report, it's a food one, but hey, indulge me a bit! I've tried writing regular trippies and I usually fade out. So yeah, stayed at the game for about 1.5 hours, then cabbed it over to the BW and walked through the International Gateway, because I *needed* to see Off Kilter. Oh, and I needed some booze too!

So, my first stop, was to France. Because, that Grey Goose Slush, oh man, I just cannot resist!
http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r149/marsh0013/disney%202009%20mar%204-11/day%201%20MK%20EP%20MGM/pic117.jpg

Deeeeeeee-licious! Love this thing. Can't get enough! Well, apparently, I had enough time before the 3:30 Off Kilter Show to grab another drink. Which I did at the Rose & Crown Pub. I got my regular, the Welsh Dragon. This has been a standard for me, even if it's not all that strong, but just wait for me to switch it up in a few days!
http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r149/marsh0013/disney%202009%20mar%204-11/day%201%20MK%20EP%20MGM/pic120.jpg

Good stuff. It's got that green liquor, and some minty stuff, and some tropical type juices. It's good, if not all that strong.

So I saw me some Off Kilter (w/o Jamie...boooo!), then of course, I got another drink. After stopping off at the Visa Meet and Greet (Love this thing!!!!), I stopped off at Mexico. I always make sure to get myself a Green Apple Margarita at least once per trip.
http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r149/marsh0013/disney%202009%20mar%204-11/day%201%20MK%20EP%20MGM/pic144.jpg

I am beginning to realize that it's not tequila that I don't like....it's the margarita's in Mexico in Epcot! Blasphemy, I know. But I read in MickeyNicki's report that she said it was medicine-y, and I totally agree! Many other great drinks I would rather spend my money on! So maybe I won't be stopping off at Mexico as often now on. We shall see.

Quite amusing, this next drink, I do not have in my notes. I must have gone to the R&C pub again, as I have another picture of another Welsh Dragon. Must have been before the 5:30 Off Kilter show, as I headed over to MGM after that show. Oh, okay, so here it is
http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r149/marsh0013/disney%202009%20mar%204-11/day%201%20MK%20EP%20MGM/pic145.jpg

Again, nice, if not strong enough. More Off Kilter, still no Jamie. Major bummer! After their 5:30 set, I needed to walk myself over to MGM, since they closed at 7pm, and I needed to go say hi to David :).

Tune In Lounge, alcohol, 3.4.08

Ah yes, my favorite place. I arrived around 6:30 and made my way straight to the bar. Dave was happy to see me, mentioning that he wondered when I would make my way in. Haha, sorry, I had big plans today! So of course I sat down, on the left side of the bar, and ordered my usual Grandma's Picnic Punch
http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r149/marsh0013/disney%202009%20mar%204-11/day%201%20MK%20EP%20MGM/pic170.jpg
(haha, after reviewing my post, I notice you can see the bottom of David's body in this picture! eeeeeexcellent!)

Num, num, num, num!!!! Love this drink! And Dave makes it the best! I may be biased. I apologize for that! LOL! :lmao: But yeah, my notes tell me I had 2, even though I only have a picture of the one. Oh well! I had another drink once I got to dinner. Which was at Spoodles. Which will be up next!

next up: dinner @Spoodles

major bummer. like i said above, i hope to find the recipe online!
OK, I found it in another post::goodvibes

YIELD: 1 Loaf

Ingredients:

12 slices day-old white bread (preferably a homestyle white, not Wonder Bread
type)

8 oz. butter (chilled and sliced)

Brown sugar batch:

9 oz, light brown sugar
1 tsp. cinnamon

Mix together and set aside.

Batter:

10 oz. heavy cream
4 large eggs
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1/4 tsp. cinnamon

Mix together and refrigerate until ready to use.

-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

Method:

Liberally spray a loaf pan with Pam or other vegetable spray. Layer three slices day old bread on bottom of pan. Sprinkle 1/3 brown sugar mixture on top of bread, then layer 1/3 of the butter. Repeat these steps two more times. Top off with three more slices of bread (should have a total of 12 slices of bread). Press down with hand to compact bread into loaf pan.

Slowly pour 16 oz. of batter over top of loaf, covering completely. This may take a little time, to allow it to fully absorb into bread and flow into spaces at bottom. (Take
your time here and pour into corners. Lift bread at corners a little to get into bottom quicker if you want.)

Place loaf pan on some paper towel in case of overflow. Cover top of loaf with parchment paper and wrap top tightly with aluminum foil. Place in refrigerator and allow to sit overnight.

Heat oven to 325º F. Bake for approximately 1 hour or until internal temperature in center of loaf is 160 degrees. Uncover and bake for another 15 minutes. Remove from oven and let rest for 5-10 minutes. Place a plate on top of loaf pan and invert to remove from pan. Cut into 7 slices and serve.

I have got to try these drinks in May. I too agree about the Margarita. I had the Fiesta margarita last year and it tasted metalic, like it was the last one in the blender or something. I love margaritas so it was really a disappointment. I had one at the Yak and Yeti counter service window and it was yummy.

1/2 tsp. vanilla
1/4 tsp.

Cut into 7 slices and serve.

you are my new hero!!!! i am going to have to try that one of these days i have off from work!

Oh yay!! More food and alcohol porn! I just may have to get me a Welsh Dragon on my trip in 8 days . . . it sounds so good!

yeah, it's good. i had it for the first time when i ate lunch at the R&C many trips ago, and it's become my go-to when i need something quick before/during off kilter!

Perfect way to start St. Patty's day with looking at your drink porn! Bring it on. :thumbsup2

absolutely! i ended up drinking many many green drinks last night, i will have to post a pic....here you go... (oh and of course i added a glow cube to it!)

hey marsha you kept me up all night!!
i just had to read all your previous food reports last nights and
waiting patiently for the rest of this one.
i dont know how you manage all that food, you
are making me so excited for our trip in august, just wish i lived in usa
so i could make more trips during the year, the flight prices are
a killer.

sarah xxx

awesome, i'm so glad you got all caught up! i do love my food and especially my booze, so it's great when people enjoy it too!

Woohoo I can't wait to hear the rest!

thanks!

I have got to try these drinks in May. I too agree about the Margarita. I had the Fiesta margarita last year and it tasted metalic, like it was the last one in the blender or something. I love margaritas so it was really a disappointment. I had one at the Yak and Yeti counter service window and it was yummy.

i hear ya! i def have enjoyed margaritas other places!

I can't wait for your Spoodles review! We loved it, it's now my very favorite restaurant!

sweet, it's coming up soon!

I just read of allears, net that Cat Cora (Iron Chef America) is taking over Spoodles:eek: ! I hope they don't change too much! I would be soo sad

I am totally subbing and I agree the alcohol porn is perfect for St Patty's Day! Can't wait to follow along:goodvibes

ooh, cat cora, eh? i'll have to check that out!

Yay! Booze porn!!!!

Welsh Dragons are on my list for our June trip, but I wonder if I could whip some up for tonight? What a great drink for St. Patty's Day!!!! Off to look for the recipe!

oh i hope you found it! i too thought they were perfect and green!

So am i now !! :thumbsup2

welcome!

:worship: :worship:

Btw: who can we write nasty angry pouty letters to about the French Toast Loaf? :guilty: Anyone know??

yeah seriously, i'd love to write some nasty letters!

Great start! Can't wait for more!

thanks!

Great start Marcia - what a way to kick it off - a big, fat cinnamon roll followed by loads of alcohol. Fantastic!

haha yeah, i thought they weren't too shabby :thumbsup2

All caught up, can't wait for more!!

Spoodles, dinner, 3.4.09

I had made this ADR just earlier that afternoon, not sure when, but I got a time of 8:10pm. That was fine with me, as I wanted to stay at the Tune In for a bit anyway. So once I left Dave, I took the walk over to the Boardwalk, and to Spoodles.

I checked in just after 8, and was seated about 10 minutes later. I was kinda feeling the booze a bit at this point, but well, I couldn't pass up a cocktail! So I got the Fusion Lemonade, which I've had other places before, since it's on the standardized menu. Good stuff
http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r149/marsh0013/disney%202009%20mar%204-11/day%201%20MK%20EP%20MGM/pic181.jpg

While I was deciding what to order, I snapped some pics of the menu for you lovely people (sorry for the flash, came out too dark w/o it)
http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r149/marsh0013/disney%202009%20mar%204-11/day%201%20MK%20EP%20MGM/pic171.jpg

http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r149/marsh0013/disney%202009%20mar%204-11/day%201%20MK%20EP%20MGM/pic180.jpg

Also took a pic of the napkin the drink was placed on. I know, very exciting stuff.
http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r149/marsh0013/disney%202009%20mar%204-11/day%201%20MK%20EP%20MGM/pic182.jpg

Well, an appetizer immediately jumped out at me, and I knew I would order it, but I just couldn't decide on an entree, so I sent my waiter away a few times since I was having such a tough time deciding.

Anyway, as an appetizer, I got the Roasted Goat Cheese - with fresh Marinara sauce and fried oregano served with Focaccia toast
http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r149/marsh0013/disney%202009%20mar%204-11/day%201%20MK%20EP%20MGM/pic183.jpg

I am a HUGE fan of goat cheese, and this did not disappoint!!! It was so nice and creamy, and warm but not hot, and just perfect w/the marinara on the focaccia toast. Just oh man, I could have eaten just this and been happy. Oh, and I probably should have just stopped there! As you will see, I wasn't thrilled with my entree.

Anyway, while eating my appetizer, I was also given bread with olive oil to dip in. This was good too. And when I ran out of focaccia, I dipped this bread in the remaining goat cheese/marinara. So good!
http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r149/marsh0013/disney%202009%20mar%204-11/day%201%20MK%20EP%20MGM/pic184.jpg
http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r149/marsh0013/disney%202009%20mar%204-11/day%201%20MK%20EP%20MGM/pic185.jpg

So for my entree, I couldn't decide between the snapper - Pan-roasted Fillet of Snapper - with Saffron Israeli Couscous, Chorizo, Wilted Greens and spicy Tomato Broth, and the shrimp - Lemon-Garlic Shrimp Linguine - with Preserved Lemons, Italian Parsley, Shaved Garlic and Butter. I ended up asking my waiter which he recommended of the two, and he told me the shrimp, so I went for that.
http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r149/marsh0013/disney%202009%20mar%204-11/day%201%20MK%20EP%20MGM/pic186.jpg

It was alright. The shrimp were a pretty decent size, and there was a lot of pasta. But well, the pasta was kinda tasteless. Like there was no sauce. I tried adding salt and pepper, and it didn't really help. So I ate all the shrimp and left most of the pasta. Of course, hindsight is 20/20, but I wish I had tried the snapper. Oh well, next time!

Yup, so I will be back to Spoodles. Because that appetizer is enough for me! And I will try the snapper next time.

It was a nice atmosphere, and I really enjoyed it. So like I said, I will be back!

next up: Hollywood Brown Derby

For the person wanting to drink around the world:
Japan has a sake bar in the large department store, it's pretty tucked away but it's in the same room with tea and lots of candy. If sake isn't your thing, they also have a really good plum wine.

Hollywood Brown Derby, lunch, 3.5.09

After a nice morning at MGM, it was time to get me some grub at the Brown Derby. I knew exactly what I was getting here. I come for the Cobb Salad! Seriously, I've had other things here, but the Cobb Salad, it just calls out to me! So I got there right after they opened at 11:30, checked in, and was seated shortly after.

Now, normally, I'm always seated in the same spot. Down the stairs, over to the other side, up the stairs, turn right, and it's the second table. This time, we went down and up, but then to the left! I was like, you're messing with me aren't you! Ha, the seater didn't get it, but whatever.

Now, I know, I should have ordered an alcoholic beverage. But I had promised myself, no drinking before noon this trip! Ha! So I decided to have an unsweetened iced tea. While I was perusing the menu, I took some pics for you lovely folks.

http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r149/marsh0013/disney%202009%20mar%204-11/day%202%20MGM%20MK/pic061.jpg

Rolls come out nice and warm and toasty, the butter melts all nice, and it's just so good.

I also took a pic of one of the pages of the drink menu, the one w/the specialty drinks

And then, ah, the beautiful salad. I order it minus bacon, since I don't like bacon. Here it is, in all its glory. I stopped my server from mixing until I could snap this
http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r149/marsh0013/disney%202009%20mar%204-11/day%202%20MGM%20MK/pic065.jpg

Lines of bleu cheese, avocado, turkey, egg, tomato, chives. Yowsers. Amazing! Oh, and here it is all mixed up!
http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r149/marsh0013/disney%202009%20mar%204-11/day%202%20MGM%20MK/pic066.jpg

So good. I know some people don't like the whole chopped up-ness of the lettuce, but I just think it is absolutely perfect. And man, this thing is huge, so I couldn't finish it. My waiter asked me if I wanted dessert, but there was no way! Too full!

Seriously, this is a really nice place to stop for a light lunch. And even though it's a signature, since it's in the park, they don't have the normal dress code of other signatures. Plus, the salad is only like $15, and then I get the 20% discount. So it's not all that expensive either. I just really like it for a nice lunch. Highly recommended!

Tune In Lounge, alcohol, 3.5.09

Before going to lunch, I had stopped into the Tune In to say hi to David. And so after lunch, I went back on over to grab a drink before I took a nap back at the hotel. I decided on the drink Dave had introduced me to last November, the Long Beach. I'm sure I've mentioned this before, but Long Beaches have become my new standard at home as well. But nobody makes them like Dave does!

California Grill, dinner, 3.5.09

Originally, my BFF's parents weren't going to be able to join me for this dinner, but I'm so glad their plans changed and they did indeed join me.

First things first, we ordered drinks after sitting down in the little bar/lounge area. Then Morgan's dad took me out onto the observation deck, while we waited for our drinks to arrive. So awesome out there! I imagine seeing Wishes from up there is amazing. Anyway, here's a couple pics of the view
http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r149/marsh0013/disney%202009%20mar%204-11/day%202%20MGM%20MK/pic316.jpg

And here's me, all "dressed up", or as dressed up as I get! I bring this skirt with me and carry it in my bag and change before my dinners that require it. Ha, I'm so not a dress up person, but for good food, I can be persuaded.
http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r149/marsh0013/disney%202009%20mar%204-11/day%202%20MGM%20MK/pic319.jpg

Anyway, once we got back inside, our pager went off. Oh yeah, I guess it would help to know that my ADR was for about 9pm. I had already seen Spectro and Wishes before that, at the Magic Kingdom.

So we went back and I took a picture of my drink, which was my typical Long Beach
http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r149/marsh0013/disney%202009%20mar%204-11/day%202%20MGM%20MK/pic322.jpg

The Florida parentals also got drinks, I think a Tom Collins and a glass of red wine. But I don't have pics of those, sorry!

I was really looking forward to this meal, and I couldn't wait to get sushi for an appetizer! I'm pretty sure that the one I ordered was the Double-Crunch Rainbow Roll - Cobia, Salmon, Tuna, Tempura Crunch and Tobikko. But I could be wrong, I know it was some sort of rainbow roll, but it also came with a citrus dipping sauce. So maybe it's something different. Either way, delicious!
http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r149/marsh0013/disney%202009%20mar%204-11/day%202%20MGM%20MK/pic323.jpg

BFF's mom ordered some sort of salad, something with apples in it that isn't on the allears menu. So yeah, I'm guessing the description of my sushi wasn't correct. Oh well. She picked out the radicchio, since she doesn't like it, but said the rest was good.
http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r149/marsh0013/disney%202009%20mar%204-11/day%202%20MGM%20MK/pic324.jpg

BFF's dad got soup. Definitely wasn't the Butternut Squash allears lists. I'm thinking it was some kind of cream of something soup? I wish I had written it down! Or taken a pic of the menu. I apologize for not doing that. Anyway, he licked his bowl clean.
http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r149/marsh0013/disney%202009%20mar%204-11/day%202%20MGM%20MK/pic325.jpg

For my main meal, I couldn't resist the ravioli. Hand-crafted Japanese Pumpkin Ravioli with wild mushrooms, spinach, parmesan, and mushroom tea. Oh my goodness! So so glad I went with this! Absolutely delicious, perfectly cooked pasta outside, creamy pumpkin inside, and a delicious light broth.
http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r149/marsh0013/disney%202009%20mar%204-11/day%202%20MGM%20MK/pic328.jpg

BFF mom got the Oak-fired Filet of Beef with cheesy Yukon gold potato mash, sautéed broccolini, and and teriyaki barbecue sauce. She managed to eat about half of it, but said it was very good. I don't do beef, but hey, for those of you that do, thumbs up :thumbsup2
http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r149/marsh0013/disney%202009%20mar%204-11/day%202%20MGM%20MK/pic329.jpg

BFF dad got the Grilled Pork Tenderloin with goat cheese polenta, button mushrooms and zinfandel glaze. Seems like the main meals are the same as on allears, just the other stuff isn't. Anyway, again, he enjoyed.

While waiting for dessert, I snapped a pic of the open kitchen, which we were seated near.
http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r149/marsh0013/disney%202009%20mar%204-11/day%202%20MGM%20MK/pic331.jpg

I didn't really want anything for dessert, but BFF dad asked me if I would at least have a bite of anything. Well, there was some sort of dessert trio, and one of the components was berries in a zabagion (spelled that wrong, but I really have no idea!). Anyway, I don't remember the other things included. May have been some sort of cheesecake and something else. I wish I could do better, but here's the only picture I have of it
http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r149/marsh0013/disney%202009%20mar%204-11/day%202%20MGM%20MK/pic334.jpg

Yup, that's my finished off plate! Haha, I totally forgot to take a pic before we started digging in. I took the berries and sauce and put them on that plate, while BFF dad kept the main plate with the other stuff.

Oh yes, and BFF mom ordered creme brulee, which I actually managed to get a shot of!
http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r149/marsh0013/disney%202009%20mar%204-11/day%202%20MGM%20MK/pic333.jpg

Alongside it were a couple of mini cake type things. BFF dad took care of those. I remember he said one was a banana nut type of thing, I think. And the other was chocolate? Not sure, but he sure gobbled them up!

We also each got a cup of decaf coffee with the desserts. Just a very nice end to a very nice meal. This was a great experience, from beginning to end. Plus, I got a ride back to the hotel out of it! Door to door service, I'll take it! And I love getting to spend time with BFF's parents, who I refer to as my Florida parents :)

So yeah, great meal, great night, highly recommended!

thanks! and, well, i dunno where i get my drink stamina...at home i can have 3 drinks a night and be okay, i guess i attribute it to the weakness of the drinks (especially the epcot ones!), or maybe i eat more on vacation too? who knows! either way, i won't let anything slow me down!!! :cool1:

The Plaza, lunch, 3.6.09

This is another place that I absolutely adore for lunch. After spending the morning conquering Fantasyland, I had definitely worked up an appetite. So I went to get into the Plaza right when they opened, at 11am.

I pretty much knew what I wanted to eat here. So I ordered right away. Unsweetened iced tea for a drink (surprised? haha).
http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r149/marsh0013/disney%202009%20mar%204-11/day%203%20MK%20EP/pic032.jpg

Now I absolutely *love* the vegetarian chili here. I know I've mentioned it before, but I'm pretty sure it's the same as they have at Columbia Harbour House. Fine with me, more opportunity to get it! One minor flaw - it has olives in it, and I do not like olives. It's okay, I just pick them out, no biggie.
http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r149/marsh0013/disney%202009%20mar%204-11/day%203%20MK%20EP/pic033.jpg

Yum, yum, as good as ever! It's nice and hearty, with beans, tomatoes, other veggies. And it's not really spicey either, in case that's an issue for anyone. Just good good stuff :thumbsup2

And then I also got the Chicken Strawberry Salad - fresh garden greens, grilled chicken breast, fresh strawberries, gorgonzola cheese, tossed in a white zinfandel vinaigrette dressing. I've had it before, and have always enjoyed it. The waitress asked me if I liked gorgonzola, since some people get upset that it's on there. Well, I think those people are silly, since it *says* it's on there. If they don't want it, they should ask to hold it. But anyway, that was really nice of the waitress, but I assured her that I *love* gorgonzola.

It's a really nice light salad. Good sized chicken breast, and nice and warm on top of lots of lettuce and veggies. Oh, and I got the dressing on the side, since I don't like it when my salad is drowned. Not a problem, they brought it out in a container on the side.

Oh yes, before I ordered, I was brought out a little plate of condiments...

I just had to take a picture, since it was a hidden Mickey! Too cute!

I was out of there by 11:35am, which was pretty perfect, as I had a few fastpasses I wanted to use before leaving the park!

World Showcase & Tangeriene Cafe & more World Showcase, alcohol & snack & alcohol, 3.6.09

Ah yes. This Friday, I had been promised that Jamie would be there playing with Off Kilter, as he wasn't there on Wed. What they didn't tell me was that then Mark would be off! Sheesh, I didn't get to see the whole band together until Sunday! Anyway, so I decided against a break this afternoon, so that I could catch all of the Off Kilter shows before my dinner at the Prime Time Cafe. And have some yummy beverages!

So I left the MK, grabbed a bus to the Boardwalk, and walked myself over to the International Gateway by 2pm. First stop...Italy! Just needed to get myself an Italian Margarita. I love these things! They are nice and tart, and slushie, but not too cold. I think I've described it that way before, not sure if it makes any sense but oh well! Here it is!
http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r149/marsh0013/disney%202009%20mar%204-11/day%203%20MK%20EP/pic050.jpg

Some non food porn, but here's some Off Kilter porn. Randy and Jamie!
http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r149/marsh0013/disney%202009%20mar%204-11/day%203%20MK%20EP/pic061.jpg

Okay, so right, 2:30 Off Kilter, then I had some time to kill before the 3:30 show, so I mosied on over to France to grab myself a Grey Goose slush. Oh man, love these things so much! Every time I try to convince myself to try the orange, but I could never do it! Stay tuned on that one! Oh yes, so here's the lemon slush
http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r149/marsh0013/disney%202009%20mar%204-11/day%203%20MK%20EP/pic085.jpg

At this point, I got a text from my server at the Prime Time telling me he wasn't going to be working that evening. So I switched around plans and decided I'd just stay in Epcot and stay with Off Kilter all afternoon!

Since I had lots of time to kill until the 5:30 show, I spent some time in Future World, then made my way back the long way around the water. Stopping in China. For a drink. Duh! I love mango, and I saw they had a new drink (well new to me) called a Mango Gingerita. I should have just stuck to my normal Peach Schnapps Peach Slush. Live and learn. Cuz the gingerita, well, you can imagine, had ginger in it. So, it wasn't spicy, but it had a kick. Hard to explain. But I drank it anyway. Alcohol!
http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r149/marsh0013/disney%202009%20mar%204-11/day%203%20MK%20EP/pic111.jpg

And the drink menu from China
http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r149/marsh0013/disney%202009%20mar%204-11/day%203%20MK%20EP/pic110.jpg

On my way back to Canada, I stopped by Germany to see if they had anything for a single person, for once I was done Off Kilter-ing :). I asked for around 8:30, and that was no problem whatsoever. Awesome!

More fun w/Off Kilter at 5:30
http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r149/marsh0013/disney%202009%20mar%204-11/day%203%20MK%20EP/pic115.jpg

At this point, I needed a snack, so I stopped by Morocco. Got myself a side of lentil salad, and then a Moroccorita to go along with it. I love it that I can get a nice snack here.
http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r149/marsh0013/disney%202009%20mar%204-11/day%203%20MK%20EP/pic130.jpg

The lentil salad hit the spot. And I don't think I've ever tried this drink before, it reminded me of the Italian Margarita, but not as strong. Still pretty good.

More Off Kilter at 6:30. No pictures this time.

Then I went back to France. I struggled with this, but I convinced myself that I needed to try the orange one, the Gran Marnier Slush. So I did it. I buckled down and ordered it, and looked longingly at my beloved Grey Goose slush.
http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r149/marsh0013/disney%202009%20mar%204-11/day%203%20MK%20EP/pic132.jpg

I must say, I do prefer the lemon one. This was okay, but I'm much more of a lemon girl I guess. Not that I didn't enjoy this one! Believe me, I sucked it down. So fast, that in fact, by the time I got to the UK, I was ready to order something else to take with me to the final show. Ha, yeah, I like my booze :rolleyes1

I noticed on the drink menu at the R&C pub that they had something called a Rainbow-tini. I'm guessing it's one of those standardized drinks. So yeah, I ordered that. Two pictures, as the cube changed colors
http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r149/marsh0013/disney%202009%20mar%204-11/day%203%20MK%20EP/pic133.jpg

I'm looking at my pics and seeing Illuminations, and being confused. Then, I'm remembering that Epcot closed at 8pm that night! Because I'm pretty sure it had evening magic hours. Duh Marcia. So yeah, I stopped in Japan and watched that on my way to dinner.

As for availability, I think you could be surprised - people are still posting on the DVC boards about being able to snag BWV and BCV for October.

thinking about it! now more looking at a discount at pop...but we shall see...

Book, book, book!

I'm renting DVC and there was no availability for the weekend of 10/17 at BWV or BCV so I'm at SSR.

yeah that's what i figured. i'd just as well stay at pop for cheap in that case. still working on it!:cool1:

Great reviews! Can't believe the french toast loaf is gone - I was really looking forward to trying that in May!

i know, it is soooo depressing! i still haven't gotten over it!

Girl you must have a wooden leg! :rotfl:

You should go in Oct, have you ever been to the F&W? We usually go around the dates you are looking at but the 40% off discount was for later so we are going Oct 22-Nov 1.

Hope you get there in Oct just leave some booze for the rest of us ok? :lmao:

wooden leg? nah, just lots of practice :lmao::lmao::lmao:
ah, and if i do end up going, i will just miss you! i'll try to leave some booze for ya, but no guarantees!!!! :rotfl2:

We love the Plaza too!:thumbsup2

i'm glad you like it too!

haven't been here for a while so I thought I'd drop a hiya! :goodvibes

I have to say that I cracked myself up when I was looking at the menu you posted from the China tea booth and saw that non-alcoholic BAO BING SLUSH because my brain actually read BAD BLING SLUSH and I was wondering how something with that kind of name could possibly be non-alcoholic. :rotfl2:

hey! how ya doin stranger? good to see you! that is so funny, bad bling slush, now that sounds like something i would try!!! :rotfl:

Marcia,
I always love your reviews. This is another great one! I'm enjoying reading along.

I too love the Grey Goose slushie. I haven't tried the orange one either because I always want the Grey Goose. Now I don't have to worry about it. I'm convinced with your opinion.:goodvibes

aw, thanks so much! you have no idea how good that makes me feel :goodvibes

Hey she's gonna be there with me and another NOLA gal and Brenda and her bunch, we'll try and leave some for ya.;)

damn straight! can i say d...a...m...n... on here? hope so! LOL!

So did you book the Oct trip????

no i actually went on the website and put in another hold for the same flights...but now i have til friday at 11pm to decide! heh, i love to procrastinate! i really wanna convince my friend aaron to come w/me too. so i'm working on it!

We leave tomorrow and I decided to bring down some rum to save on drinks, but after all your pics, I will have to try some of these!

So far, the peach thing in China, the Grand Marnier, and the Grey Goose are on my list. We love to be able to just walk around World Showcase on evenings!

yeah, my brothers did that (brought booze) when we were there in august. we had so much left over though, since me and my mom wanted the specialty drinks only available at disney of course!

I thought I'd come out of Lurkdom. Ive read all your TR's and Food Reviews and I always love them. You look like you'd be alot of fun to go drinking around the world with :) ... Great reviews as always..Surprised you didn't do 50s PT and just the Tune In Lounge.

hi!!! so good to have you come out of lurkdom! thank you so much for your compliments! and yeah, see, i love the 50s PTC, but i've had so many lukewarm experiences, that i will now *only* go when my waiter friend is working. he just makes it for me. i don't like coming out of there disappointed, since i have it on such a high pedestal! i think other servers don't play as much with me since i'm alone, even if i request it, but richard, he's my bud and he's great. i end up becoming friends with everyone around me. ok /end rant! LOL! but yeah, that's my reasoning!

I'm sure there will be a few drops left ... ;)

tee hee, maaaaybe. i don't drink beer, so there will be plenty of that! wine too. i like the hard stuff!

I don't think I have ever seen one person drink that much LOL. The Grey Goose Slush looks good, i don't drink but I may try that on our next trip, DH can alway finish it for me.

haha, yeah, like i said before...practice :rolleyes1. definitely give the gg slush a try. so so so good!

Biergarten, dinner, 3.6.09

So after seeing Illuminations, I made my way on over to Germany, where I checked in for dinner. I knew I would be dining with others, and this is absolutely fine with me! Just sometimes it can be hit or miss, depending on how outgoing the others are...but man did I hit the jackpot!

At first, I was seated along with a couple from somewhere in the south. They had adorable accents. And they helped me pick a drink! See, I've mentioned before that I don't drink beer or wine. Well, those are the only choices at Biergarten. And a dinner is not a dinner without a nice beverage to go with it. So they told me about the wines they have had at home, and I settled on something they told me was nice and sweet. Perfect. Somehow, I managed not to get a pic of it, though, since they didn't really know me yet, and we were getting along...so I didn't want to scare them off, LOL!!!

Anyway, after my wine, her wine, and his pint of beer arrived, another family (of 5) was seated with us, filling out the table. They were from Mass, but were Yankee fans. Figure my luck! When they told me they were from Mass, I was a bit worried, but as soon as we found out we liked the same baseball team, we were fast friends. Also happened that one of the kids was a CM, in the college program. Lifeguard somewhere? Funny, I ran into them again on a bus later in the week.

Anyway, so on to the good stuff, the reason you're here, the food, of course! I had been here before, on my May DxDDP trip, but i was eating so much, that I really wanted to give it another try, when I wasn't so stuffed from other meals!

So, for my first plate, I went with the cold stuff. Green and white bean salad, pasta salad, pretzel bread, and mixed lettuce w/tomatoes and onions.
http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r149/marsh0013/disney%202009%20mar%204-11/day%203%20MK%20EP/pic193.jpg

I finished off the green beans real quick, they are a favorite of mine. Oh and the pretzel bread. Now, I was a bit wary, as on my previous trip, it just hadn't been that great. I'm going to think they had burnt them or something. Because this time, oh so good! And I'm a green salad kinda girl, so that was good too. The pasta salad, eh, just wanted to try it. It was fine, but I only had a bite.

We were having such a blast at the table, just talking about our lives, Disney, anything! Time was flying, and I realized I needed to get myself the main part of my meal! Haha, seriously, would have just sat there all night had the others not gotten up!

Here we have salmon, pork w/applesauce, spaetzl, schnitzel, sausage, and potatoes.
http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r149/marsh0013/disney%202009%20mar%204-11/day%203%20MK%20EP/pic194.jpg

Salmon was fine. It's not my favorite fish, but it had a nice sauce on it. The pork I was really digging. I put applesauce on it cuz that's how my mom taught me to eat it. Yum yum! The spaetzl was a bit dry. It's different than I'm used to getting from my deceased German/Hungarian grandma. Don't worry, I gave it another try on the next plate. Schnitzel, well, I don't really do fried food, and this was kinda tough, but I wanted to give it a try. The sausage was awesome. And I don't often eat sausage. The potatoes were meh, just fine. Nothing special.

So right, one more plate of "real dinner" before I hit dessert. I was extremely disappointed when I got to the carving station, and they had taken the meat away. I wanted more of that pork! Oh well, that's what I get for having an 8:30 ADR when a buffet closes at 9.

So anyway, here's what I did get. Mac & cheese from the kids section, more sausages, more pretzel bread (!), spaetzl w/red wine sauce on it, and some mustard to dip the pretzel bread in.
http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r149/marsh0013/disney%202009%20mar%204-11/day%203%20MK%20EP/pic195.jpg

The mac & cheese was okay. Perfect for kids. Just wanted to try it. Sausages again, very good. Pretzel bread too. So good! I actually ended up eating it without the mustard. Just didn't want to mask the flavor at all. Ah, and the spaetzl w/the red wine sauce was so so so much better. I have no idea if they're supposed to go together, but it worked for me :thumbsup2

Over this whole time, we were all still gabbing and having a blast. At some point, we were joking about the two guys who had gotten pints - the southern husband, and the recently turned 21 CM. See, the younger boy was beating the older one. And he would just not have that. So they decided they needed to race and chug. We were all chanting "chug, chug, chug!!!" At first, we thought the younger one had won, when he slammed his stein down. But the older one kept going. And when it all settled, the younger guy hadn't finished! So they older guy won. He was so proud, his wife took a picture of him. It was so cute! And a blast!

Oh yeah, so dessert. I had some. Not much, sorry! I'm not a huge dessert person anyway. Watermelon, pineapple, honeydew, a tiny piece of cheesecake, and a bit of the apple strudel.
http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r149/marsh0013/disney%202009%20mar%204-11/day%203%20MK%20EP/pic196.jpg

Nice fresh fruit, they at least kept that stocked. And the bites of cheesecake and strudel were the perfect sweet ending to a very enjoyable meal.

I was out of here just before 10, which landed me at the bus stop just about 10. Well, if you remember, it was extra magic hours. I figured 10 would be a fine time to leave, the crowds wouldn't come til later. Well, I was dead wrong! The line went all the way back to the corner. Like, if you've taken a bus to Pop from Epcot, you know where I mean. Horrible! And since it wasn't closing time, they weren't coming boom boom boom. I guess I've just been very lucky that I either go to a restaurant, bar, or get driven home, but I have never experienced this! And now that I look at my notes, I was back at Pop by 10:45pm, so really....that's not all that bad. I've heard of much worse from these boards!

But really, take it as a warning. Unless you're staying til the end of evening EMH, and only if it's at the Magic Kingdom, then I would advise against doing it! Yikes, too many people.

Oh, I snapped some pics of the golf ball on my way out. Look, no people around! That's cuz they're all in line for the bus!
http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r149/marsh0013/disney%202009%20mar%204-11/day%203%20MK%20EP/pic197.jpg

How lucky that you were seated with a bunch of Mass. Yankee fans!

I believe there are really much more of them than we'd be led to believe. They are all just in hiding. I had to stop at a gas station for directions once in Mass and was helped by the nicest Yankee fan who worked there.

Sounds like it was a fun night. Everytime I've ever been to Biergarten it's been with the family so we take up the whole table. Your groups sounds like fun.

Rose & Crown Pub, alcohol, 3.7.09

So this day was a bit weird, I didn't have my first cocktail til about 5pm, LOL! :lmao:

I hit Epcot early, just long enough to ride Soarin twice, see Crush, and secure a FP for Soarin for later. Seriously, but stop at 10:40 to take a nap! So I could see as much Off Kilter as possible! Ended up making it for the 3:30 show, but didn't make it to the pub until before the 5:30 show.

Aaaaanyway, so after doing some stuff around Future World, I stopped by the pub to grab a drink to take with me to the 5:30 show. Magical Star Cocktail, sub Bacardi for coconut rum, since I hate coconut. Mmm, I've had this plenty times before, but it's good! Standardized drink menu, in case you're looking for it.
http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r149/marsh0013/disney%202009%20mar%204-11/day%204%20EP/pic043.jpg

Pretty sure this is the show where Jamie referred to my drink as a "fruit cup" and wondered if I could share it with him. Ha! Awesome! Once again, no Mark, but here's Randy and Jamie rockin out.
http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r149/marsh0013/disney%202009%20mar%204-11/day%204%20EP/pic046.jpg

Tangeriene Cafe, snack, 3.7.09

After the 5:30 show, it was time for a snack! This time, I had brought carrots with me in my bag, so I went for the hummus. Yum Yum!
http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r149/marsh0013/disney%202009%20mar%204-11/day%204%20EP/pic068.jpg

As you can see, it comes with chips, but I dumped those. Just ate the hummus with my carrots. That's a favorite combination of mine, so it was perfect.

Les Vins des Chefs de France, alcohol, 3.7.09

And so after picking up my hummus, I also had to pick myself up a Grey Goose slushie. You know, to wash down the food. :rotfl2:
http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r149/marsh0013/disney%202009%20mar%204-11/day%204%20EP/pic069.jpg

So yeah, one more show to go, means one more drink! Went back to the pub for yet another Magical Star, same sub as before. So pretty. So yummy.

OK so your photos from Rose & Crown made me want to go there to try the Welsh Dragon. But when we ordered it our ADORABLE Irish bartender Eddie (who I fell in love with after our 15 minutes of being there) suggested the English Rose, which was awesome! I never got to try the Welsh Dragon :( All of those drinks look good. I did get to try the Magical Star @ Ohana and it was very tasty. Looking forward to more reviews!!

Bistro de Paris, dinner, 3.7.09

After the 7:30 Off Kilter show, I made my way over to France. But not before stopping off in the UK bathroom to change into my fancy skirt! I would not go to a nice restaurant without it! So yeah, my ADR was for 8:05, and I arrived a few minutes before. At first, I had no idea where to check in. I've been to Chefs de France before, so I went to that podium, and they told me to go around back. Why I couldn't just walk through the restaurant to the back, I do not know. But that's fine, so I went up to the podium, checked in, and then sat myself in a comfy chair til it was my turn to be seated.

I got walked up those stairs, and was seated right by the window. Perfect! Even though I had already seen Illuminations this trip, I knew I'd have a nice view from up there too!

I wasn't sure what to order, but I decided I may as well go all out and get the Menu Degustation. And of course, I ordered a cocktail. I got what I normally get when dining in France, the Kir Royale. Yum. I don't normally do champagne, but this is good stuff!
http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r149/marsh0013/disney%202009%20mar%204-11/day%204%20EP/pic098.jpg

Oh and here's a shot of the menu I had to choose from
http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r149/marsh0013/disney%202009%20mar%204-11/day%204%20EP/pic097.jpg

You will notice my pictures are a little dark. Well, see, I thought that in such a fancy place, I shouldn't turn on the flash. But well, you will see that change! Because the couple next to me noticed me taking pics, and asked me about it. So we got to talking, I told them about this place, and well, we continued talking the rest of the night! I didn't want to intrude on their dinner, but they initiated and kept it up, so I didn't feel bad. It was actually very nice, since they were doing the same menu, and got a lot of the same stuff at the same time, so it was like I wasn't there alone. Not that I mind being alone, but yeah.

Oh okay, so time for the amuse bouche. I don't know if I spelled that right, but anyway, I know from Top Chef that that means "small bite" or something similar, LOL! It was shrimp and asparagus on top of a round of zucchini. And oh boy it was good!
http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r149/marsh0013/disney%202009%20mar%204-11/day%204%20EP/pic099.jpg

At the same time, I was also served a crusty french roll. Nice and warm and crusty.
http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r149/marsh0013/disney%202009%20mar%204-11/day%204%20EP/pic100.jpg

That's the last picture without the flash. By this time, I was in full conversation mode with the couple next to me :thumbsup2

Choice for appetizer was snails or a soup. Look at me making a really fancy place sound extremely boring. Haha, yeah. Escargot. Or mussel saphron soup. I think. I went with the soup. I was afraid to try the escargot, since I don't know if I like it. Looking back, I wish I had tried it, since that would be the place to do it. Oh well, maybe at the Food and Wine Festival in October. So anyway, the soup.
http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r149/marsh0013/disney%202009%20mar%204-11/day%204%20EP/pic101.jpg

It was very good. The guy from the couple sitting next to me told me to try it first plain, then mix in the little yellow spoonful sitting next to it. I wish I could remember more. I just know I liked it. Although, the mussels in the soup were a bit chewy. But I think they're supposed to be. Um, yeah, I suck at this description. I apologize. But I would order it again.

Next course: scallops. Oh how I love scallops. Especially when they are cooked correctly...medium. And these were. Oh they also came with a pea flan, and the sauce was a champagne beurre blanc.
http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r149/marsh0013/disney%202009%20mar%204-11/day%204%20EP/pic102.jpg

I didn't care for the pea flan, but the scallops and the sauce were amazing. Like I said, I love scallops, and these did not disappoint. They were cooked perfectly medium, and the sauce was a nice compliment.

So then there was a palate cleanser course. Melon granite with peach sorbet, watermelon liquor.
http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r149/marsh0013/disney%202009%20mar%204-11/day%204%20EP/pic103.jpg

When my server brought it out, he told me there were two ways you could eat it. Either pour the liquor over the rest, and mix it up, or take the liquor as a shot, and eat the rest separately. Any guess of what I did? Yeah, took the shot. Of course. And ate the rest. :rotfl2:

Main course was a choice of beef or pork, and I don't do beef, so of course I got the pork. Pork tenderloin stuffed with porcinis, pasta gratin with truffles.
http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r149/marsh0013/disney%202009%20mar%204-11/day%204%20EP/pic104.jpg

Holy moly taste explosion! The pork was actually wrapped in bacon, and I don't like bacon either, so I pulled it off and ate the rest. The pork was cooked perfectly, medium well I think, and I love mushrooms, and the sauce was good as well. And the pasta? It was like macaroni and cheese on crack. Like, amazingly good. I guess the truffles helped with that. But yeah, finished that whole thing off. Very very good.

Right after my meal arrived, it was Illuminations time. So I got to enjoy my food while the show went on. Very nice.

And then it was time for dessert. First of all, my server asked me if I liked pears, since it was a pear tart. I thought that was nice, as they would have subbed something else if you didn't like pears. I however, do like pears, so I took what was coming. He originally told me it came with almond ice cream, but he ended up correcting himself, since it was pear ice cream.
http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r149/marsh0013/disney%202009%20mar%204-11/day%204%20EP/pic109.jpg

The pastry was nice and flaky and the pears were nice and soft. I didn't really eat the ice cream, but I tasted it and it was fine. This was a nice ending to a very good meal.

I also took some pics of the restaurant, and my view out the window.

Very nice place, I'm glad I gave it a try. It's not a cheap meal, but I do get my 20% DDE discount here. So yeah, great food, great atmosphere, and I got lucky with some great company!

Epcot was pretty empty as I was leaving. And it's so pretty at night.

Oh and this evening, I got to the bus stop about the same time as the night before (10pm), but since the park had closed at 9, this time, I didn't have to wait at all for a bus. Good thing, I needed to rest up for rope drop at AK the next morning!

It's nice to see a review of Bistro ... we loved it when we ate there in October 2007. We're thinking of dining there again this fall if we have time since we went ahead and renewed our DDE for one last go-round of food.

Your meal looked terrific ... especially the soup and the scallops.

Did they give you an option to have the dessert sampler or has that been eliminated now?

Thanks for sharing!

Thanks for the great report. I applaud you, and anyone, who can do this solo. I am such a chicken at doing anything by myself and I am not much of an outgoing person. But I love Disney and am loving your reviews. Especially all of the drinks! How can I say it, but YUMMMMMOOOOOO! I love to get drinks while doing EPCOT, so does DH.

Keep up the great job and can't wait to hear more!!!! :yay:

Fantastic updates, as always!

I am a Brown Derby/Cobb Salad girl too. I think we previously established that we are usually seated at the same table and how funny, my most recent trip I was also seated to the left instead of to the right as well! Maybe they read the DIS and wanted to give us variety. :rotfl:

I commit that I WILL make it to the Tune In Lounge my next trip. Can't believe I haven't been!

The Italian margarita rocks!! :thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Can't say Biergarten is really on my radar but I enjoyed your review!

I love hummus so will keep that in mind as a snack option! ::yes:: And look at you packing your own carrots!

California Grill. :cloud9: I think we're going there in Sept and I can't wait! I'm not a dress up girl either but for food and booze I can do it! :lmao:

Speaking of which, thanks so much for the Bistro review. It looks lovely. I so enjoyed Chefs, perhaps I will have to try Bistro.

Very jealous that you are going to be at F&W with Brenda, TigerKat and so many others. I booked the bounceback in Dec that ended in early Oct so I'm going 9/24-10/3. But I will do some advance scouting for all of you and fill you in on what there is! :)

yeah it really was great! the dessert sampler i'm not sure. i mean, with the set menu, it wasn't an option, but it may still be on the regular menu. i apologize, i didn't take a picture of the regular menu, just the set one.

Tusker House, lunch, 3.8.09

After a fun filled morning at the Animal Kingdom, I headed over for my 11:30 ADR for lunch at Tusker House. I've been to Tusker before for breakfast, but never for lunch or dinner. I was very much looking forward to it. And I was not disappointed!

I got there pretty much right after 11:30, since I went to the 11am Lion King show. But I was seated shortly after. It seemed that they had just recently started serving lunch, so everything was nice and fresh. Oh, and I stuck by my rule of "no alcohol before noon" and just ordered an iced tea, which apparently I didn't take a picture of. :)

First trip up to the buffet, I got salad type stuff. Salad w/apples and blue cheese, some sort of cucumbers, and green beans.
http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r149/marsh0013/disney%202009%20mar%204-11/day%205%20AK%20EP%20MK/pic168.jpg

Next up, samosa, ratatouille w/couscous, some sort of rice, some sort of veggies, and salmon.
http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r149/marsh0013/disney%202009%20mar%204-11/day%205%20AK%20EP%20MK/pic169.jpg

Pork w/applesauce, seafood stew (so so good!!!), and rice w/chicken curry I think.
http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r149/marsh0013/disney%202009%20mar%204-11/day%205%20AK%20EP%20MK/pic170.jpg

That seafood stew was soooo good! I had it on a couple more plates, as you will see!

Seafood stew over rice, samosa, mac&cheese, couscous, some sort of tofu and veggie dish.
http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r149/marsh0013/disney%202009%20mar%204-11/day%205%20AK%20EP%20MK/pic171.jpg

Wasn't thrilled with the tofu/veg dish, and the mac & cheese was boring, fine for kids I guess.

More seafood stew over rice, pita and hummus, green beans & mushrooms, curry chicken over rice, some sort of orzo w/feta maybe?
http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r149/marsh0013/disney%202009%20mar%204-11/day%205%20AK%20EP%20MK/pic172.jpg

Aaaaaand one more plate of seafood stew. I tell ya, I loved this stuff!

Then I got some samples of desserts. Bread pudding w/vanilla sauce, fruit, strawberry mousse cup, not sure?, and some tart. The bread pudding was good, as was the fruit. Didn't like the rest.
http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r149/marsh0013/disney%202009%20mar%204-11/day%205%20AK%20EP%20MK/pic174.jpg

I left here stuffed! I didn't need to eat for a long while after that! But it was really good.

Took some pics on my way out.

Count me in too! Love the review so far! I sooooooo crave a Grey Goose Slushie right now! I agree that the lemon is the best (Something about that mild tartness massages my tastebuds and the coolness adjusts my attitude!!). When we go "Around the World" for drinks DH likes his beer, I much prefer the drinks! I never had that Apple Margarita - can't believe I missed that drink. Just as well - sorry to hear that they taste like medicine. (I LOVE appletinis!)

Hi Marsha, I'm glad you enjoyed Tusker House. We went in Sept 08 and I truly loved this hidden gem. I wasn't expecting too much and was extremely happy with it. (By the way, love all your pictures and they are making me hungry right now popcorn::)

That seafood stew was fantastic. DH found it amusing that I had a few servings of that. I'm looking forward to it again for this Septembers trip.

Rose & Crown Pub, alcohol, 3.8.09

Somehow, I don't have this drink written down in my notes!!! :scared1: It was before the 2:30 Off Kilter, I'm pretty sure, and well, at least I have a picture of it! And I'm guessing it's from the pub, but really, I'm almost positive. So yeah, Magical Star Cocktail please, sub bacardi for the coconut rum, of course!
http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r149/marsh0013/disney%202009%20mar%204-11/day%205%20AK%20EP%20MK/pic184.jpg

Then I settled in for some Off Kilter...and the whole band was there, finally!

Tutto Italia Kiosk, alcohol, 3.8.09

Between the 2:30 and 3:30 show, I mosied on over to Italy, to get myself an Italian Margherita. Italian Margherita - Lemoncello, Grappa and Margherita Mix. I really love this drink, so tangy and delicious.
http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r149/marsh0013/disney%202009%20mar%204-11/day%205%20AK%20EP%20MK/pic210.jpg

Then of course, back to Canada. Where this little squirrel was running around. Off Kilter = squirrel approved :thumbsup2

Les Vins des Chefs de France, alcohol, 3.8.09

Man, this day I was really lacking in the notes department! I'm sure I went and saw Off Kilter at 5:30 and 6:30, and got drinks before each, but LOL no notes, just pictures! But hey, at least I have the pictures! That's the important part! So right, after the 3:30 show, I went and did some stuff in Future World (Soarin, Visa Meet, etc), I stopped by France to pick myself up a Grey Goose Slush to bring with me to the 5:30 show. Yummy!
http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r149/marsh0013/disney%202009%20mar%204-11/day%205%20AK%20EP%20MK/pic254.jpg

Rose & Crown Pub, alcohol, 3.8.09

That's right, I went back! It's just so convenient to Canada. And well, Canada was where I wanted to be! Right, so before the 6:30 show, er, or the 7:30, not sure at this point (remember, no notes!) I got another Magical Star, same sub. Ah, who knows, who cares, just bring on the alcohol!
http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r149/marsh0013/disney%202009%20mar%204-11/day%205%20AK%20EP%20MK/pic269.jpg

Okay, so I think that's it. That's all I have pictures of, anyway! Ha! So yeah, lots of good booze and music, now that makes for a great day! Oh, and guess what, it's not over yet! I made the decision to hit the evening EMH at MK that night, so after the 7:30 Off Kilter, I needed some food first. So I went to Marrakesh. That's coming up next!

wow, hi everyone! lots of people on board, yahooo!!!

this is gonna be a real real quickie, i have to head out the door in about 5 minutes. but anyway, here we go!!!!

I'm sorry, I wanted to love it. Maybe it was just the disappointment, but well, I thought it was just okay. I will not be waiting on any long bakery lines anytime in the near future. At least not unless they unretire my beloved french toast loaf.

next up: drinks, of course!

Just finding your dining review thread..and getting started on reading it  but I just had to share in your disapointment about the French Toast Loaf...it is an absolute travesty!!! Howeverm there is a recipe posted for it on allears.net that is very good. My DH makes it for Christmas morning the last 2 years and every once in a while in between....just a thought!! :wizard:

Restaurant Marrakesh, dinner, 3.8.09

Alrighty, so I don't think I had any plans for dinner this night, but as I said, I decided that I needed to go to the evening EMH at the Magic Kingdom, and I figured I may as well eat in Epcot before heading over, since the EMH didn't start til 10pm. And well, I've experienced it enough times to know the later you get there, the better.

Right, so it was just about 8pm when Off Kilter finished, and I made my way over to Morocco, since I figured I had a pretty good chance of getting in there without a wait. And I was right. They didn't make me wait at all, in fact, they took me right to a table, as if they had been waiting for me, LOL! So just so you know, this is a restaurant that you have a pretty good shot getting into if you don't have an ADR :thumbsup2

As soon as I sat down, my waiter asked me my name so he could write it in Arabic on my table. Cool! Then he saw me taking pics, so he wrote it in marker next to the pen. Check it out!
http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r149/marsh0013/disney%202009%20mar%204-11/day%205%20AK%20EP%20MK/pic270.jpg

Of course, my first course of action was to order a cocktail. I didn't write down which one I got, but I'm guessing based on the menu that it was Marrakesh Express - Cruzan coconut rum, orange juice, and pineapple juice, topped with Meyer's dark rum, and that I subbed regular rum.
http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r149/marsh0013/disney%202009%20mar%204-11/day%205%20AK%20EP%20MK/pic271.jpg

Noticing me taking pics, another waiter came by and told me I could borrow his hat and he'd take a pic of me with my drink. Love these guys here, really, always have been so kind and accommodating.
http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r149/marsh0013/disney%202009%20mar%204-11/day%205%20AK%20EP%20MK/pic272.jpg

As you can see on the table, they had also brought me some bread to enjoy before my meal.
http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r149/marsh0013/disney%202009%20mar%204-11/day%205%20AK%20EP%20MK/pic273.jpg

I placed my order, then it was time for the entertainment...the music and the belly dancer! Yay! She's fun and the music is festive.
http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r149/marsh0013/disney%202009%20mar%204-11/day%205%20AK%20EP%20MK/pic284.jpg

For my meal, I ordered the Mediterranean Seafood Platter - shrimp ragout, broiled salmon, and seafood bastilla. The bastilla came out as an appy, along with a little salad. This was pretty good. Never tried it before, so it was different.
http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r149/marsh0013/disney%202009%20mar%204-11/day%205%20AK%20EP%20MK/pic274.jpg

Pretty much as soon as I was done with that, the main portion came out. Yum yum, I love seafood!
http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r149/marsh0013/disney%202009%20mar%204-11/day%205%20AK%20EP%20MK/pic280.jpg

The salmon was a little dry, but eating a bite of it with the tomato mixture helped that. The shrimp was good though. And I was out of there by 8:45pm. Yeah, they're pretty quick. Not that I was gonna complain, gave me time to stop at the Polynesian for another drink before hitting the EMH at the MK!

Tambu Lounge, alcohol, 3.8.09

Yes, so well, since I had some time to kill, I decided I may as well liquor myself up at the Tambu Lounge before hitting the dry park, lol! I would have walked to the BW and taken a bus straight to the MK, but since I wanted to go to the Poly anyway, I walked to the front of the park and caught the monorail to the TTC, and walked to the Poly from there.

So I got to the bar at 9:15, pulled up a chair, and there was a bartender here that I've had before, and I recognized him, but it's been a while, and he didn't remember me. That's ok, I didn't remember his name anyway! Oh yes, and I ordered myself a Lapu Lapu. Man, I don't remember these being so strong! But seriously, this was a killer!
http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r149/marsh0013/disney%202009%20mar%204-11/day%205%20AK%20EP%20MK/pic287.jpg

And of course, the bartender asked if I wanted a pic w/my pineapple. Sure, bring it on!
http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r149/marsh0013/disney%202009%20mar%204-11/day%205%20AK%20EP%20MK/pic289.jpg

I wanted to start making my way over to the MK, and I had only finished half of the drink! Oh, genius that I am, I went and washed out my refillable mug and dumped it in there! That thing comes in really handy. I do not advocate smuggling booze out of the bars, but well, uh, yeah. Sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do!

I finished up my drink on the monorail ride over, and arrived at the gates at 9:55, perfect timing! Had a blast that night, as I always do at the evening EMH at MK. This is really the only one I recommend going to out of the night ones, but really, good times :thumbsup2

I had to laugh at this. When I was down there for the food and wine festival a few years ago my bff and I made friends with a couple of women who were smuggling their glasses of wine out of Epcot. They didn't even transfer their drinks to mugs. I think they hid them in their shorts or something. :)

Oh my gosh I just laughed SO loud when I read about your booze smuggling, LOL!!!! That's awesome!! We got a 5pm Ohana ressie and EMH at MK that night go until 2AM! ITA that later is better, so I'm trying to think of what we can do after dinner before going back to the park. Any ideas? My friend has never been to WDW before so I'm thinking maybe explore the monorail hotels and their bars? Have you been to them? LMK! Thanks for the reviews they are awesome as always!

thanks so much! and hells yes on the evening EMH! so perfect! and yes, you could definitely just explore the monorail resorts. each one has a bar (or 2) where you could grab a drink to kill some time til the MK empties out. i've been to the outer rim (cont) before the refurb, they also have a bar at the wave. of course, the tambu lounge at the poly is nice, and mizner's at the GF we liked too...they gave us a bowl of nuts to snack on too (this was in aug 2007, so who knows if they still do), but we thought that was really nice

Tutto Italia, lunch, 3.9.09

Since I had done such a late night at the MK for EMH the night before, I decided to sleep in a bit this morning. Well, sleep in till about 10, which is so funny, because at home, that's early! Anyway, I had an ADR at Tutto around 11:30 or so. I got to the bus stop, was at Epcot by 11:05. Stopped to grab a FP for Soarin for after lunch, then made my way to the world showcase. They were already starting to get ready for the Flower & Garden festival.
http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r149/marsh0013/disney%202009%20mar%204-11/day%206%20EP%20MGM/pic006.jpg

Checked in and was seated right away, it was pretty empty at this point. I guess not many people do such an early lunch. This was more like a brunch for me anyway. Of course, I was given bread, olive oil, and olives. I think they normally give more veggies at dinner, not sure.
http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r149/marsh0013/disney%202009%20mar%204-11/day%206%20EP%20MGM/pic007.jpg

Love nice crusty bread, and dipped in the olive oil, so good! I don't do olives, so I can't comment on those. While I waited for my food, I took a couple pics of the restaurant.
http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r149/marsh0013/disney%202009%20mar%204-11/day%206%20EP%20MGM/pic008.jpg

For an appetizer, I ordered this layered eggplant thing. I wish I had written down the name of it, it was so good! It wasn't breaded, but it was like an eggplant parm type thing. Ah-mazing! Pre-parm cheese.
http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r149/marsh0013/disney%202009%20mar%204-11/day%206%20EP%20MGM/pic010.jpg

And all cheesed up
http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r149/marsh0013/disney%202009%20mar%204-11/day%206%20EP%20MGM/pic011.jpg

Like I said, this was absolutely amazing. Perfect mix of cheeses and tomato sauce, and eggplant, just so so good. I should have just had this as my meal, and I would have been good to go, for real.

But anyway, I did order a main meal as well. Some sort of fish with sauteed greens. The fish, well, I wasn't thinking that the fish would be breaded, and I don't really like breaded stuff. So I kinda peeled it off. The greens were good though. But I didn't eat much of the fish. Like I said, would have been good with just the eggplant dish.
http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r149/marsh0013/disney%202009%20mar%204-11/day%206%20EP%20MGM/pic012.jpg

I had no interest in dessert, so I made my way out of there. I was pretty disappointed in the fish, but really, the eggplant made it worth it.

Club Cool, soda, 3.9.09

So on my way out of the park, I stopped by Club Cool. They were all out of a bunch of them, but at least they had my fav, the watermelon from China!
http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r149/marsh0013/disney%202009%20mar%204-11/day%206%20EP%20MGM/pic015.jpg

And okay, I finally did it. See, I had never ever tried the Beverly before. Of course, I had read much about it, and had made my mom and brothers taste it, but I never did. Til this time. My curiosity just got the best of me. Ha, yeah, my Beverly face is very similar to my Jameson face.

Tune In Lounge, alcohol & dinner, 3.9.09

After my short trip to Epcot, I went back to the hotel to take a nap. Before going to sleep though, I decided to call and make an ADR for the 50's Prime Time Cafe, since Richard had told me he would be working. Well, anyway, I stopped by the Tune In Lounge when I got to the park at about 5pm, and found out that Richard was gone for the day! Bummer! So how to cheer myself up? Well, Dave made me a Picnic Punch to go
http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r149/marsh0013/disney%202009%20mar%204-11/day%206%20EP%20MGM/pic019.jpg

With drink in hand, I went to go do some rides. Did Tower of Terror a few times, using FP, and also rode Rockinroller Coaster using single riders line of course.

Then I stopped back in and had Dave make me a Long Beach to go. Because I wanted to go on Star Tours.
http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r149/marsh0013/disney%202009%20mar%204-11/day%206%20EP%20MGM/pic025.jpg

Oh so I got to the ride, and I knew I couldn't bring my drink on with me, so I used the old dump it in the mug trick. Worked like a charm :thumbsup2

Did some more rides, took some pics, then made my way back to the bar to eat. When I arrived, I met Kathy, who I knew from my trip in August with my family. And so I hung out with her. Oh of course I ordered a drink. Picnic Punch, please Dave!
http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r149/marsh0013/disney%202009%20mar%204-11/day%206%20EP%20MGM/pic038.jpg

And Kathy took a pic of me with my drink

And then Kathy convinced me to order the Fried Chicken. I don't like fried food, but figured I'd just pull off the breading, which worked out great. (a couple different angles)
http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r149/marsh0013/disney%202009%20mar%204-11/day%206%20EP%20MGM/pic040.jpg

Oh man, this was so so good! The chicken was perfectly cooked, nice and juicy. I only managed to eat most of the breast, as I don't like dark meat anyway. And the mashed potatoes were excellent, as were the greens. Yum yum yum!

Kathy and I hung out for a while, and I got another drink. Another Picnic Punch. Yup, love those things!
http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r149/marsh0013/disney%202009%20mar%204-11/day%206%20EP%20MGM/pic042.jpg

And since Kathy had driven herself to the park, she offered to drive me back to Pop so I didn't have to wait on a bus. Awesome! She really rocks! Love her

Yup yup, so it ended up working out fine even though I didn't eat at the restaurant, but the bar instead. More quality time with some great people, can't complain about that!

next up: snack @Min & Bill's, more Tune In

And here's me, all "dressed up", or as dressed up as I get! I bring this skirt with me and carry it in my bag and change before my dinners that require it. Ha, I'm so not a dress up person, but for good food, I can be persuaded.I do the same thing. I also don't dress up, and I can't even remember the last time I wore a dress, (it may have been to a wedding in 2005,) but I will get dressed up for good food. ;)

i actually don't know that many. just dave at the tune in and richard at the 50's prime time. really, we just had a blast the first time we went to the 50's and richard was our waiter, that we kept in touch. and well, i spend enough time at the tune in lounge that dave began to recognize me :). good times, i tell ya :)

Where is this Tune In Lounge?

it's the bar that attached to the 50's prime time cafe in mgm. right next to that other restaurant, the buffet one. kinda funny, but since they're attached, you can hear the music from the lunch there when you're in for a drink. from the characters over there. you learn to tune it out though ;)

yeah, they make me feel like i'm not alone, so it's nice when i take a solo trip to have people to visit. please do try the tune in, it's so much fun!

as for now, i can't do an update. i'm sitting on my couch, and i don't have my mouse/mousepad. see, i had surgery on friday (very minor, no worries!) but still, i'm not at a table, and i'm not so good using the touchpad thingy for inserting pics. but i'll be back hopefully on wed with an update. that's my next day off.

thanks guys for hanging with me! i keep getting little infos from disney about my upcoming trip in june, and i'm getting very very excited! POFQ here i come! and one of my bffs is coming with me, aaron! aw yeah!

Min and Bill's Dockside Diner, snack, 3.10.09

So this morning, I decided to stop for a snack after hitting a bunch of rides. Before I went into the American Idol Experience at 11am, I decided I would get a Cinnamon Apple Pretzel from Min and Bill's. I had heard good things about them, so figured I'd give it a try.
http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r149/marsh0013/disney%202009%20mar%204-11/day%207%20MGM%20JR/pic013.jpg

and a view of the inside after a bite
http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r149/marsh0013/disney%202009%20mar%204-11/day%207%20MGM%20JR/pic014.jpg

Pretty good. The pretzel itself was a bit dry, the filling helped it a bit. It was like the inside of one of those commercially made apple pie thingys. Like not a real apple pie, but they call them pies...some company makes them. Yeah, I will stop rambling about that now, but it was okay. Next time, though, I'll stick to a regular plain salted pretzel.

Tune In Lounge, lunch, 3.10.09

So after the American Idol Experience, and some more rides, I stopped by the Tune In to final up plans with Dave for the evening, and to get some grub before my daily nap.

I went with an old favorite, the Stacked Sandwich - Your choice of smoked turkey or ham on seven grain bread, lettuce, tomatoes, Swiss cheese and mayonnaise, served with a house salad or potato chips. I went with turkey and house salad. Like usual. Oh and of course I added mustard to the sandwich.
http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r149/marsh0013/disney%202009%20mar%204-11/day%207%20MGM%20JR/pic046.jpg

The salad doesn't look like much, but it's a perfect little side to go along with the sandwich. I really like this sandwich, too. It's plain and simple, but sometimes that's just what you feel like.

Oh, and of course, I also got a beverage. Can you guess what it is?
http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r149/marsh0013/disney%202009%20mar%204-11/day%207%20MGM%20JR/pic047.jpg

Surprise, surprise (NOT!)....Picnic Punch :goodvibes

So I didn't really want to hang out too long, as I had a nap to look forward to, before coming back to MGM for some more rides, then heading over to the Boardwalk for dinner @ESPN and Jellyrolls w/Dave. So I went back to Pop for my nappy nap time. With plans to return for more fun and games :thumbsup2

next up: more fun @Tune In, dinner @ESPN & Jellyrolls

Tune In Lounge, alcohol, 3.10.09

So after a nice nap, I headed back to MGM to use up my Toy Story FP, hit some other stuff, and of course, stop by the Tune In Lounge for a drink. So after I nabbed a FP for Star Tours (it was all that was left!), I stopped by the lounge to get something to go. Any guesses? Yeah, like I even need to tell you...
http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r149/marsh0013/disney%202009%20mar%204-11/day%207%20MGM%20JR/pic050.jpg

And in perfect Marcia form, I dumped it into my mug and headed over to use my TSM FP.
http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r149/marsh0013/disney%202009%20mar%204-11/day%207%20MGM%20JR/pic049.jpg

After spinning and spinning and shooting and shooting, I hit some more rides, stopped by the Tune In just to check in with Dave one more time, then headed over to the Boardwalk. It's a nice walk along the water, and it wasn't too hot, so it was very pleasant. The moon was looking pretty cool too. (it was much lighter than it looked, wasn't really dark out yet)
http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r149/marsh0013/disney%202009%20mar%204-11/day%207%20MGM%20JR/pic074.jpg

ESPN Club, dinner, 3.10.09

Anyway, so I headed into ESPN, which by the way, was packed!!! I didn't want to wait for a table, but wanted one of those bar tops in the bar area. Yeah, those were packed too. So I kinda hovered around, and nabbed a high top not too long after. I only have a couple pictures from here, since I didn't take any once Dave got there. Anyway, just a couple pics of the drink menu
http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r149/marsh0013/disney%202009%20mar%204-11/day%207%20MGM%20JR/pic077.jpg
http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r149/marsh0013/disney%202009%20mar%204-11/day%207%20MGM%20JR/pic078.jpg

I got the Espy, which was really good. Sorry, no picture of it! Dave had arrived by the time I got it.

For dinner, I got the Vegetable Sandwich - Chilled Grilled Zucchini, Onion, Portobello Mushroom with Greens, Tomatoes, and Roasted Red Pepper Hummus on Multi Grain Bread. Served with Cucumber Salad or ESPN Chips. Got it with the Cucumber Salad.

Now, I love veggie sandwiches, and this one did not disappoint. The bread was nice and hearty, and the veggies were perfectly grilled, and top it with hummus, oh I was in heaven.

I don't remember what Dave got. Burger maybe? Not sure. But he polished his off as well.

We headed out toward our next destination...

Jellyrolls, alcohol and fun!, 3.10.09

Love love love this place! Last time I went, they still allowed smoking. I think. It was back in November, and I remember it being very cold on the walk back to the car! But this was a very pleasant evening, and provided a great time. Again, only one picture here, it was the $9 big cup drink...blue hawaiian maybe? Something like that!
http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r149/marsh0013/disney%202009%20mar%204-11/day%207%20MGM%20JR/pic079.jpg

It was big, and yummy, and just well, a lot of drink for just 9 bucks :). Dave had his usual, Corona Lime. Can't really mess that up. Oh, one thing about this place...can't charge to the room. Had to put it on the credit card. Not that that's a problem, cuz my room charges end up there anyway, but yeah, I know some people like to rely just on the room key, so take a credit card or cash here.

Loads of fun here. Just a couple pics.
http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r149/marsh0013/disney%202009%20mar%204-11/day%207%20MGM%20JR/pic085.jpg

Got out of here at a decent time, didn't close it down or anything. And Dave drove me back to Pot, so I didn't have to worry about catching a billion buses.

Good times.

Chef Mickey's, breakfast, 3.11.09

With such a late night on Tuesday, I figured I'd take it easy on Wednesday morning. After checking out and having them hold all my stuff, I planned to head by bus to the MK and walk from there to the Contemporary. Well, I just missed a bus at 10:50, and my ADR was for 11:20, so I didn't want to chance it. I took a cab over to the Contemporary instead. Got there with a few minutes to spare.

First plate, yogurt mixed with granola grapes and apples, and some extra fruit on top. This was really good, especially the fruit it was nice and fresh

Before my next trip for food, I was visited by Donald and Mickey

Next up, scrambled eggs, sausage link, goofy's breakfast lasagna (I think!), seasoned potatoes, and a slice of breakfast pizza.

This plate has a Mickey waffle, syrup, french toast, a pancake, and a cheese blintz with blueberry topping. I just love dipping my Mickey waffle and french toast in the syrup. So good!
