24 ADR’s/7 Trips and Counting.
I am blessed. :cloud9: Why? :confused3 Because in a 14 month period, I will be in Disney world, not once, not twice, but SEVEN times.
I get to experience the World solo, with my better half, with his kids, and with my best friend. And maybe, just maybe my soon to be 8 year old niece (that would be an 8th trip.)
No, I’m not independently wealthy and I didn’t recently win the lottery. So, how can I do it? My DBF is a DVC owner, and he likes to share so that helps. I get to go once for work, so there is a “free” plane ticket for one trip. Knowing last October I would be taking at least 3 trips, and in hopes that it would lead to planning a 4th, I got an annual pass.
Over the next several months I will be plotting, planning and reviewing! So why not whistle a tune and come along for the ride!:dance3:

For the most part each trip is going to have a slightly different cast of characters from the group listed below!
ME-princess: Snow White—Mid-Thirties—Loves to eat, especially on vacation. I have just starting to branch out and try seafood.
Best Friend—Doc—Mid 30’s—One of my best travel partners, we have been all over North America together. We both love food, cooking it and eating it!
DBF—Grumpy—Late 40’s—We have totally different thoughts on food, I always have to make sure there is a burger, steak, or spaghetti on the menu. If one of those things is on the menu, I can get him to try it. .
Colleague—:) Happy—Mid 30’s—Will meet up with her for one or two dinners. Great Lady!
DBF’s SON—Sleepy—21
Daughter’s Friend--Bashful—17
DBF’s DAUGHTER-- Sneezy—16
DBF’s Nephew— Dopey—22

First Trip-March 20-25—Solo/Business Trip—Boardwalk
I have a business trip in Orlando and am going down a few days early. I am trying a few restaurants that I either know that my DBF doesn't like, or I don't think he would like. I will be joined by a couple of colleagues for dinners at the end of the trip!
(* represents a new restaurant for me!)
Friday, March 20—Hollywood Studios
Lunch—*Sci Fi Drive in—This is last minute add, I was able to get the time I wanted! I am mainly going here for the atmosphere, not the food.
Dinner—*Flying Fish—I am trying to talk myself into trying the Red Snapper, if not, I will fall back on the New York Strip! (I have only tried fish twice in adult life, and both were in 2009!)
Saturday, March 21—Magic Kingdom and Epcot
Breakfast—*Kona—Tonga Toast has been my obsession since I discovered the disboards, but for some reason I am second guessing it…wondering if it is just too much!
Lunch—*The Plaza—The other last minute add! Just looking for a simple sandwich.
Dinner—*Rose and Crown—I have perfect reservation time for Illuminations, so I am hoping for a seat on the terrace! (I’m pretty laid back, so if I don’t get a terrace seat, I’ll still have a great time!)
Sunday, March 22—Animal Kingdom or Epcot or Relax by the pool
Breakfast—*Boma—Anything at the Animal Kingdom Lodge makes me GIDDY!
Lunch—Undecided—Either CS at Animal Kingdom (Flame Tree?) or Epcot (Tangerine), or somewhere in DTD (Earl of Sandwich)
Dinner—I am considering *Olivia’s or *Boatwrights…need to decide and try to get an ADR.
Monday, March 23—Conference
Dinner—*The Wave—So excited about The Wave! Will be coming here with colleagues.
Tuesday, March 24—Conference
Dinner—*Planet Hollywood, *House of Blues, or T-Rex
UP NEXT: Less than 48 hours in the World!

Unless you eat really fast, you probably will! I am there at 10:10 a.m.
The Snapper at FF is amazing!
The Club sandwich at the Plaza is very good!
I'm nervous it's too fishy, and since I'm solo, I won't be able to eat half of DBF's if I don't like it!:rotfl2: So far the only fish I know I like is Ahi!

Friday, April 17
Dinner—Late Arrival Dinner
Saturday, April 18—Undecided
Breakfast—In Room or Artist’s Pallette
Lunch—Kona Café—Not 100% sure this will stay, but it will be a new lunch experience for me!
Dinner—California Grill—DBF must eat either here or LC each trip. Late ressie to see the fireworks.
Sunday, April 19—Undecided
Breakfast—In Room or Artist’s Pallette

Third Trip—April 23-27—Girls Trip—Wilderness Lodge
My friend "Doc" and I have been to Mexico, Vegas, New York and now Disney! We really balance each other on trips and we both love to eat!
(You may note, this trip is only 4 days after the other one. Nuts, I know.)
Thursday, April 23
Dinner—Probably the Airport! Late Arrival
Friday, April 24—Animal Kingdom Day
Breakfast—Roaring Forks
Lunch—Counter Service in Animal Kingdom, Yak and Yeti CS or Flame Tree BBQ
Dinner—*Artist Point—Since our home for this trip will be WL, I thought this would be a great chance to try AP.
Saturday, April 25—Hollywood Studios Day/Dowtown Disney
Breakfast—Roaring Forks
Lunch—Brown Derby—I had my favorite meal here my last trip, but this is Doc’s choice.
Dinner—*Raglan Road—Two words driving me here: Bread Pudding.
Sunday, April 26—Resort/Epcot
Breakfast—*Chef Mickey’s—Can’t wait to meet the mouse!
Lunch—TBD Counter Service—We will be hanging out at the resort until midafternoon, so will probably do Roaring Forks.
Dinner—*Chefs De France--DBF will probably never eat here, I studied French for 6 years, and despite mixed reviews, we are both really excited.
Monday, April 27—Magic Kingdom
Breakfast—*Whispering Canyon Café—I am starting to think this one will get cancelled so we can have more time in MK.
Lunch—*Grand Floridian Tea—I never miss a chance to pretend to be fancy!
Dinner—Airport
Next up: Taking Break to review where I have eaten!

Rainforest Café—Downtown Disney—We arrived late on Sunday and were seated right away. We weren’t super hungry, so we decided to share “Brave New World” (barbecue chicken pizza) and cheese sticks. The cheese sticks were great, with a good sauce. The sauce on the pizza was super tangy, not my favorite kind, but super picky bf loves it.
Cape May Café—Beach Club—I wanted our first meal in Disney to be a character meal, and my dbf just eats where I want to, just to make me happy. He is a not a big breakfast person, and even less of buffet person. I picked Cape May for several reasons, mainly good reviews here that said it was quieter than others and had better food, with great character interaction. I agree on almost all accounts. We had a late, if not the latest ADR (10:35 a.m.) The food was quite good for a buffet; I really enjoyed the breakfast pizza, the spinach egg dish, Mickey waffles, etc. My bf was really happy with the quality of the food and went back for seconds. The only issue I had with the whole experience was related to the characters. We were finished with our meals for 20 minutes and finally had to ask for the characters to come over. I think all other latecomers were seated in one area, and we were the only ones seated in our section by that time. By the time the characters made it over, we were the last group left in the restaurant and I felt a bit rushed. Not a huge issue, and I can’t imagine what a challenge it is to make it all work. I would go back to Cape May again!
Magic Kingdom Snacks—Dole Whip—Yummy!---Popcorn—Super Yummy!---Premium Mickey Bar—I miss the one with the face and the dipped ears from my childhood.
Pecos Bill—Magic Kingdom—Typical fast food fare at a park. Blah.
Jiko—Animal Kingdom Lodge—This was the reservation I was most looking forward to on the trip. Walking into AKL, I was awed. How beautiful! We made our way to Jiko, and were greeted by a wonderful hostess and waited just a few minutes for our table in the cute little bar. We started with the cheese plate and the Ostrich. I am usually the more adventurous eater, unless it comes to different types of meat, but my super picky bf wanted to try the ostrich, and I couldn’t stifle this opportunity, and thank goodness I didn’t! WOW. It was the tastiest, most tender, richest meat I ever tasted. It was a perfect appetizer, as it may have been too much as an entrée. I am just dipping my foot in the cheese world, and enjoyed the plate very much. We both got the filet with macaroni and cheese. The filet was very good, but the macaroni and cheese wasn’t even warm. The flavor was good but not great. Neither of us was overwhelmed with the dessert menu, so we took a pass.
T-Rex—Downtown Disney—I conned DBF into this one, we went for lunch on Wednesday and were seated right away. Being a new restaurant, I knew we would be in for some growing pains, which there were, but I am sure they will be worked out in time. We started with the Megalosaurus Mozzarella (Seared mozzarella with creamy marinara and mozzarella fingers.) The sticks were good, but the seared mozzarella was warm around the edges and cold in the middle. I had the Mega Mes-O-Bones – (Tender, slow-roasted St. Louis Ribs, basted with BBQ sauce) and had garlic mashed potatoes and cole slaw for my sides. The ribs were decent and the mashed potatoes were very good and garlic-y! DBF had a filet that he loved and double order of the mashed. I didn’t really like it. He was awed over the ice room. The service was spotty at best, but they are just working out the kinks I think. We really loved the themeing.
Downtown Disney Treats—Goofy’s Candy Company—I was like a kid in a candy store here…or an adult. I was overly excited about creating my own treats. Three pretzels, three combos, best was milk chocolate and peanut butter cups. YUM YUM YUM.
California Grill—The Contemporary—We had to wait about a half an hour at the bar before we got seated. Not a problem, I like getting different perspectives. I was disappointed in the bartender (must remember she is a bartender, not a sommelier.) We asked for wine recommendations, and she neither knowledgeable nor friendly. Ah well, I did get a nice malbec. The evening went up from there though. Our hostess and our waitperson were both great. Since the bartender never told me what wine I was given, my waitress helped my figure it out and allowed me to taste two before we found it. I started with the cheese plate and my once super picky dbf ordered the Triple Cheese Flatbread - Made with Pecorino, Asiago, and Provolone with sun-dried tomato and basil pesto. For our mains, I had the Grilled Pork Tenderloin - Served with goat cheese polenta, button mushrooms, and Zinfandel glaze. Probably the best thing I had all trip, the polenta was addictive. DBF had the Oak-fired Filet of Beef - Served with Boniato mashed potatoes, sautéed haricot vert, and teriyaki BBQ sauce. For dessert, I had The Original - The California Grill's legendary butterscotch crème brulee with a duo of banana cakes, and caramelized bananas. The crème brulee was good, the duo of cakes were quite blah. DBF had the Valrhona Chocolate Cake - Warm chocolate cake with molten center. I tried to steal it from him. Sooooo good. (On our way out of the contemporary, we peeked into the Wave and I definitely look forward to trying it on a future trip.) I will say I was really floored by the way people dressed here. I was raised that one should dress appropriately for the occasion and believe that all the senses make the experience when dining out, including visual. I know this is Disney, and I don’t expect everyone to be dressed in their finest, but I thought people would at least be in khakis and capris. I saw one person in track pants and one in jean shorts. (just my personal opinion though!)
Le Cellier—Canada in Epcot—I couldn’t get a dinner reservation for this trip, so I mad a lunch reservation. I had the prix fixe menu. I had cheese soup for my starter, really good! For my main course, I had the prime rib sandwich. While it tasted it good, it was heavy on the onions and light on the meat. For dessert, I had the chocolate mousse, which was also tasty. DBF had the New York strip. The meal was fine, but did not blow me out of the water.
Planet Hollywood—Animal Kingdom—We actually had the same meal as above, just in a different location.

Spoodles—Breakfast (2 times)—I was not overly impressed with our Spoodles breakfast. We ate here because we stayed at the Boardwalk, I would never make a special trip. We all had the Spoodles all you can eat breakfast platter. It was your usual greasy spoon fare. The next time I had the French toast, better, but nothing to write home about.
Le Cellier—I had the New York Strip, my piece was a bit fatty, but DBF’s son’s was perfect. The experience was slightly frustrating mainly because the family squished in the table next to us had brought in their very, very over tired screaming children to a 9:00 p.m. ADR.
Brown Derby Fantasmic Package-- Well, apparently I hadn’t informed my faithful traveling companion fully about the Fantasmic Dinner Package. (I did, but these men don’t listen!) So, they overate at breakfast (all you can eat breakfast platter!). They were not overly enthused about the 3 course meal. Well, that turned out to be a bonus for me! DBF did not want an appetizer, so I was able to get the cobb salad (FOR TWO!) I liked it, but I did not love it…when I recall it, I think…parsley. Not sure why! I believe we all had the New York Strip, and we all really enjoyed it! By far the best thing I ate on that trip was the Banana White Chocolate Toffee Tower! I can not say how good this was!

Lunch—*Sci Fi Drive in—This is last minute add, I was able to get the time I wanted! I am mainly going here for the atmosphere, not the food. We tried this place 2 weeks ago, awesome burgers an the best onion rings ever! Also the quietest restaurant in WDW
Dinner—*Flying Fish—I am trying to talk myself into trying the Red Snapper, if not, I will fall back on the New York Strip! (I have only tried fish twice in adult life, and both were in 2009!) I am really leery when it comes to fish but I had the snapper in Oct and OMG it was fantastic, light and flaky and white and very mild. DH said the NY Strip was the best he has ever had
Breakfast—*Boma—Anything at the Animal Kingdom Lodge makes me GIDDY! My fave place in all of WDW :thumbsup2
Dinner—*The Wave—So excited about The Wave! Will be coming here with colleagues. You will LOVE this place, we tried it for dinner 2 weeks ago and it knocked our socks off!
Have a wonderful time and take lots of pics!

Yay! It's my first actual review!!!!
I arrive on Friday at around noon at the Boardwalk, and my room was actually ready! I basically threw my bags in my room and hoofed it over to DHS!
I had some time to spare and took a few pictures before heading over to Lunch!
I intentionally booked Sci Fi as my first solo meal, as I was a bit nervous about sticking out like a sore thumb! (Ridiculous I know!)
So, for what you really want to see!
http://i733.photobucket.com/albums/ww339/figment814/IMG_1719.jpg
Perfect atmosphere to hide for a solo diner to hide if she wants to! I had a great server, who made me feel comfortable, and upon seeing my camera, dragged me to the back of the restaurant so I could get some nice shots!
Since I hadn't eaten in a while, I decided to get an appetizer...
http://i733.photobucket.com/albums/ww339/figment814/IMG_1704.jpg
Spinach artichoke dip...I must say it was...good, but different...I had read that people who didn't like most spinach artichoke dips liked this one, and I think its because you can't really taste either! It was just very cheesy.
On to the main course...
http://i733.photobucket.com/albums/ww339/figment814/IMG_1715.jpg
Cheeseburger (loaded)
I would definitely get this burger again, just not as loaded! The burger, cheese and bun were perfect! The mushrooms and bacon, not so much. No worries...I just brushed them off.
The cucumber melon salad was my side, and it was just to vinegary (yep, real word...in my world anyway!)
Since I am going with a Snow white theme...I'll be using an appropriately themed rating system. Where else can I be this corny?
Mirror, Mirror, on the wall, how would you rate Sci Fi Diner all in all?
:upsidedow :upsidedow :upsidedow:upsidedow (on a scale of 5)
I really liked Sci Fi and can't wait to go back! I would also say this is a great place to eat solo.

We loved Sci-Fi too! One of my favorites of my trip. I had the veggie burger and DH had the cheeseburger with bacon and onions and we both really liked them. My mom really liked her chili too. I have to say though, the french fries were the best thing! They were really good.

I actually didn't do too much my first day, I didn't really do much my first day, despite being in too parks (DHS and Epcot). A late arrival met lines that were way to long and late or no fast passes for the rides I wanted to go on.
I had after 8 p.m. reservations at Flying Fish, and relaxed in my room. I had a Grand Marnier slushy that demanded I relax for a little while!:upsidedow
I got dressed in my finest and headed downstairs. I got in line behind a lovely couple at the podium who were walk ups in track pants and t-shirts who got seated at the chefs counter right away. So much for the dress code:confused3
i know enough to expect it, but, track pants, really?
Since I was a party of one, they asked if I would like the chef's counter as well and I thought that sounded good to me!
The cooks were obviously happy to see me...
http://i733.photobucket.com/albums/ww339/figment814/cooks.jpg
As was this little fish guy...
http://i733.photobucket.com/albums/ww339/figment814/IMG_1814.jpg
I ordered the Pinot noir Flight to start
http://i733.photobucket.com/albums/ww339/figment814/IMG_1802.jpg
Because it would pair nicely with what I would have for my main (PN's from new Zealand, France and Australia)
But first, and appetizer
http://i733.photobucket.com/albums/ww339/figment814/IMG_1803.jpg
On the far right, Pont L'eveque au cidre--creamy and good
then Alp Drackloch and Manchego. I can't really remember what the accompaniments were so we'll just go off the menu: Raisins on the vine, Spanish Membrillo, Honeycomb, and Kiln-dried cranberry, and Sweet Onion and Golden Apple compote. I'll take their word for it!
http://i733.photobucket.com/albums/ww339/figment814/IMG_1805.jpg
Bread crisps to go with it.
And more cheese
http://i733.photobucket.com/albums/ww339/figment814/IMG_1804.jpg
The manchego again, Humboldt Fog (very strong, tasty goat cheese) and Point Reyes Blue. This is what blue cheese should taste like. Holy cow (cheese with enzymes)!
And for those who have read anything about me, I have just started to eat fish, so I took the risk and got...
http://i733.photobucket.com/albums/ww339/figment814/redsnapper.jpg
Potato encrusted red snapper! I can't believe how much I love this! The combination of the red wine sauce and the creamy leaks was amazing. The fish was like nothing I've ever had. A very slight hint of fishiness, but very slight and it was what made everything work....
Speaking of work...I'm running late...Dessert will be posted later!

So, we left off at dessert...while I waited, I snapped this guy again.
http://i733.photobucket.com/albums/ww339/figment814/cooks2.jpg
And chatted with the lovely woman next to me. It was a great solo dining experience, since I didn't end up feeling solo. We had a great time chatting about colleges, DVC, disboards and more.
Finally dessert and another glass of wine (oops!)
A study in chocolate
http://i733.photobucket.com/albums/ww339/figment814/IMG_1827.jpg
First up we have a chocolate crepe with Strawberry fennel compote. The crepe was interesting, but I really enjoyed the Strawberry fennel compote, strange since I am not a fan of fennel.
Second...
http://i733.photobucket.com/albums/ww339/figment814/IMG_1821.jpg
Rich Chocolate Mint Torta with Almond Gelato
This was by far my favorite of the three, very tasty.
and finally...
http://i733.photobucket.com/albums/ww339/figment814/IMG_1825.jpg
Chocolate Raspberry Mousse Delice
I have come to realize I love raspberries and I love chocolate, but this is not one of my favorite flavor combinations. (Travesty I know!) It was okay, and I ate it, and I still can not figure out exactly what delice means.
I love the trio of mini dessert concept (you'll see it again!) So I am definitely glad I go it.
And now it's time to ask the age old question:
Mirror Mirror on the wall, is Flying fish the fairest of them all?
:love::love::love::love::love: (out of 5)
This may be my favorite experience of any meal I have eaten at Disney! I had an EXTRAORDINARY waiter, who was extremely attentive and also made me feel very comfortable. I enjoyed the chef's counter experience, and would definitely try and sit there again if I were solo, or with just one other person. And the Red Snapper...i have to find a way to eat there again!
Next up will be Kona Cafe, and later on there will be one surprise that wasn't on my initial plans....

The snapper looks great - I am not really into fish but I think I could be persuaded to try that (were it not for the leeks :rotfl:)
It is so worth it!
Great start to your reviews - love your rating system :thumbsup2
Thanks!
That snapper looks fabulous! I can't wait to see what you got for dessert, and...the rest of the reviews! Keep 'em comin'!
next one coming up quick!
Us too! That fish is to die for, we are going back in June and Oct to scarf it down! Thank goodness DH loves the NY Strip there so I can get my fish on!
MickeyNicki...your comments on a post on the restaurants board to a question I asked really helped me decide what to order. Thanks so much!

So I plotted out the best way to spend my Saturday and it involved getting to the Magic Kingdom for rope drop (my first time seeing a park open!)
One of my favorite rides is BTMR, and I wanted to make sure that I got to ride it so I decided that I had time to do that before heading over to the Poly for my 10:05 ressie at Kona. Which it turns out I did have time so much time that a thought popped in my mind after I got off BTMR:rolleyes1
The line to splash mountain was nonexistent...This is the problem with solo travel....there is no one to talk you out of bad idea! :scared:
Needless to say, I got drenched in the front seat of my log flume! And then had just enough time to make it to the poly! Hopped the monorail, and headed over.
http://i733.photobucket.com/albums/ww339/figment814/IMG_1867.jpg
I must have made a pretty sight because the guy at the host stand didn't even speak one word to me, just handed me the little flashing vibrator guy. (It was not the best start for Kona in my book!)
It also happened to be my longest wait for any ADR, at about 20 minutes.
Ah, well I thought, i had been drooling over pictures of Tonga Toast for months!
I ordered, and waited and looked around...I loved the decor (though it reminds me nothing of Kona, HI)
http://i733.photobucket.com/albums/ww339/figment814/IMG_1876.jpg
It didn't take long for it to show up on my table in all it's glory.
http://i733.photobucket.com/albums/ww339/figment814/tongatoast.jpg
This was actually better than I expected! The bananas tasted fresh, and the toast wasn't overly greasy!
http://i733.photobucket.com/albums/ww339/figment814/IMG_1878.jpg
It came with this stuff...I am not a fan of the strawberry compote, and stuck with plain old syrup and butter.
I also had a great waitress at Kona. Very pleased with her.
So, time again:
Mirror, Mirror, on the wall, will Kona Cafe take a fall?
:lovestruc:lovestruc:lovestruc:lovestruc (out of 5)
I really liked Kona Cafe, but it didn't blow me out of the water. I loved the tonga toast, but the bacon (which I asked for extra crisp, almost burnt was no where near that.) I had a great server, but was kind of turned off by the way I was treated by the host. (I had dried off pretty significantly and I don't think he could tell, so I doubt it was that!)
It wasn't as comfortable as a solo diner as the previous restaurants, but I would definitely eat there again solo, or not...can't wait to try lunch or dinner.

After Kona, I headed back to the Magic Kingdom. I truly love this place. I rode Peter Pan, Snow White (for the first time), Carousel of Progress, TTA, etc. What a great day!
Then I headed to lunch...but I was a little early, so I caught some entertainment.
http://i733.photobucket.com/albums/ww339/figment814/IMG_1945.jpg
Then I decided it was time to check in to...
http://i733.photobucket.com/albums/ww339/figment814/IMG_1950.jpg
The Plaza! The Plaza was a last minute ADR, and I wasn't totally sure what to expect.
http://i733.photobucket.com/albums/ww339/figment814/IMG_1951.jpg
I had a little bit of a wait, so I took a seat to wait and enjoy the scenery...and by little bit of a wait, I mean 5 minutes.
After I was seated, I ordered an iced tea, and a turkey club and subbed a croissant for the bread it was offered on, and fries.
http://i733.photobucket.com/albums/ww339/figment814/IMG_1953.jpg
Serious YUM!
This is a perfect midday meal for a long day at the park! It was filing but not overly heavy. The atmosphere was light and quiet. My service, compared to other restaurants was mediocre, but it was a great place for a solo diner to watch out the window the world pass by!
I would definitely eat here again!
Mirror, Mirror on the wall, did you think the Plaza was a ball?

After a fabulous day at Magic Kingdom, I went over to Epcot to sneak in a ride on Test Track, and watch a little of the Davy Jones concert, before heading to my Dinner Reservation at
http://i733.photobucket.com/albums/ww339/figment814/IMG_2046.jpg
I was a little early, but seated right about on time out back right by the edge of the patio. They had put up the canvas/plastic walls because it was very windy, which was good. But, then the problems started. I was seated at 7:30, my drink order wasn't taken until 7:45, and it wasn't brought until 8:00 p.m.
My appetizer came a few minutes later...
http://i733.photobucket.com/albums/ww339/figment814/IMG_2049.jpg
I do love a cheese plate!
From the left, Mushroom Brie paired with onion jam, a sausage that I don't remember (and didn't each much of) paired with pickles and mustard, cheddar cheese, stilton blue cheese puff paired with candied walnuts. Buried under the puff was blood sausage, which I only had the nerve to smell...not eat.
I really did love this platter and the pairings were spot on!
Unfortunately, a few minutes later, before I was even half finished with the cheese platter, along comes this...
http://i733.photobucket.com/albums/ww339/figment814/IMG_2053.jpg
Chicken Breast with Garlic Bread Pudding.
The chicken breast was very well prepared and flavored.
The garlic Bread pudding also tasted pretty good, but because it was quite cold out, and I was seated on the patio out back, it was cold by the time I ate it.
I ordered dessert, a special chocolate cake with the celebration theme. They turned on the heaters then, which was okay, and let people come out to watch illuminations. My cake came out right about the time that illuminations started...hence the devilish lighting
http://i733.photobucket.com/albums/ww339/figment814/IMG_2054.jpg
There were a few people who came from inside that sat behind me and complained the whole time about the plastic windows and couldn't believe they didn't take the walls down, apparently not understanding that people would not want to eat in gale force winds. :scared1:
So, mirror, mirror on the wall, how was dinner at the park with the ball?
:mad::sad1::love: (out of 5 Smilies)
I would give the rose and crown three stars, all for the food. I really did like the food, but I was at the restaurant for nearly two hours! I will probably try Rose and Crown again one day, most likely for lunch since I do find that menu more appealing. (I also believe one bad server experience doesn't make a bad restaurant, and since the food was good, I will give it another shot one day!)

When I went to bed Saturday night, I decided I was going to skip Boma and the Animal Kingdom on Sunday. I was exhausted, my ankle was killing me (I had injured it not long before the trip), and had just popped a blister.
But I awoke on Sunday and realized I really only had one day left at the World. Plus Boma was the ADR I was most looking for on this trip, even though I am not a big buffet person.
I did end up taking a cab over to Animal Kingdom, as I was running to late to rely on busses.
http://i733.photobucket.com/albums/ww339/figment814/IMG_2063.jpg
I waited for a few minutes and was seated and then headed over for my first plate.
http://i733.photobucket.com/albums/ww339/figment814/IMG_2059.jpg
This is the "Savory" plate I created. In the back are the African inspired dishes, and a sausage link. In the front is the pre-made cheese omelet and a butter slathered piece of toast. It's vacation, its okay to slather!
I apparently only wrote down two of the African inspired dishes, one was curried sausage and biscuit casserole, which I didn't like. Just personal taste, nothing particularly wrong with it. The other was Pap and chaka laka. This was similar to grits maybe, with a red sauce. It was not something I would ever order, but it was simple and tasted good. The other dish I didn't right down? Looked similar to the casserole, but tasted better.
The Second Plate
http://i733.photobucket.com/albums/ww339/figment814/IMG_2061.jpg
The "Sweet" plate. French toast, waffle, corn bread, chocolate Chip croissant and sticky bun. I really liked the waffle and the sticky bun. The chocolate chip croissant--meh.
Mirror, Mirror on the wall, was Boma better than the food court at the mall?
:):):) and 1/2 (out of 5)
First, let me say, I am generally not a fan of buffets. I like my food freshly prepared and hot. This is only the second buffet I have eaten at the World, the other being Cape May. Of the two, I preferred the food at Cape May and the atmosphere at Boma. But the food at Boma I would still consider pretty good for a buffet.
I do find buffets challenging to eat as a single diner. I am not super comfortable leaving my camera at the table but it's also a little challenging to get food at a buffet with it.
Oh, I did have a very good server as well.

ok so i love to eat but i love to eat the same things, therefore im not really adventurous when it comes to trying food. Anywho Kona dinner was our (me and soon to be DH) first ADR and night at the world and it lived up to every expectation. I got a wonderful drink but dont remember the name and cant find it on all ears. then we got sticky wings :worship: to die for. For entrees I got the coconut almond chicken and my fiancee got the shrimp and scallops! Then to top it off we got the chocolate fondu!! Every single thing we got was cooked to perfection! and the service was great!! thats why later in the trip we had to try breakfast as a pick up adr.
I would show pictures if i knew how to put them up... its funny we've been to disney the past 2 years and have taken pics of the food but i have not done a trip report!! well maybe this year!!

So after one of my business meetings, a few colleagues and I headed over to THE WAVE.
On a previous trip, DBF and I stuck our head in and I was really impressed by the "look" and the menu. (Actually on a trip just about a year ago, we ate at the Concourse Steakhouse they were testing some of the Wave Desserts, and I got to try some of them there!)
On to the trip report...
I had seen pictures of the lettuce wraps on other posts, and decided to continue my branching out...
http://i733.photobucket.com/albums/ww339/figment814/IMG_2172.jpg
Lettuce Wraps - Sauteed lamb and bay scallops with soy-rice wine vinegar sauce.
These were quite good, but I think next time I will try something else. (I was so blown away by the Y and Y lettuce cups, that to me, these didn't reach the level I wanted them too!)
I debated between pork and beef for my main, and ended up with this
http://i733.photobucket.com/albums/ww339/figment814/IMG_2174.jpg
Grilled Beef Tenderloin - with mashed celery root. This is not exactly what is showing on the menus on I am finding on various websites. I was leery of the mashed celery root, but OH MY! If i didn't want dessert so badly, I would have ordered a second helping. Great texture and flavor. The steak was done very well too, I really thought it was great!
On too dessert...I had seen other people on the boards had been able to mix and match, so we asked if we could. Unfortunately, our waitress told us that due to an unexpected high crowd level, they didn't have enough desserts to allow for that.
I went with...
http://i733.photobucket.com/albums/ww339/figment814/IMG_2176.jpg
Decadent Flavors - Blueberry Compote with Yogurt Gelato, Lemon Cornbread with Vanilla Panna Cotta, or Chocolate Mousse with Salted Caramel Sauce
YUM! I actually liked the Chocolate mousse the best, salty and sweet combos are my favorite. I also really liked the cornbread (though I expected a little more panna cotta than the tiny dollop on top!) :)
http://i733.photobucket.com/albums/ww339/figment814/IMG_2177.jpg
While I liked the compote, I'd probably substitute another dessert for this one if I could in the future.
Mirror, Mirror on the wall, was it a wave or was it a squall?
:):lovestruc:):lovestruc and a half
I think the Wave is a great restaurant with great food for a nice night out, if you don't want to get dressed up for a signature.
Hope to eat here again soon!

So I had one last night and decided to have one more meal in the World. I wanted to walk around the Boardwalk, but decided to start a Captains Grille!
My friend and I decided to split to things. She ordered an appetizer and I ordered a main course. Unfortunately, we were starving and started to dig in before i could take pics! So I apologize in advance for the state of the our plates!!!
She had
http://i733.photobucket.com/albums/ww339/figment814/IMG_2180-1.jpg
Warm Wild Mushrooms & Onion Tart Served with field green and barley salad and balsamic truffle vinaigrette. -
I really liked this alot, but it wasn't terribly filling. On the spoon in the corner was the oyster from her appetizer trio. The breading was good, but I'm not a big oyster person.
On my plate, in addition to the oyster was
http://i733.photobucket.com/albums/ww339/figment814/IMG_2181-1.jpg
This was a beef bruschetta. It had a very good flavor, but you must be okay with rare meat!
The third item on the plate was an onion tart which was done in a similar fashion as the mushroom tart. It was decent but I preferred the mushroom tart.
Since we were heading to the boardwalk we decided to forgo dessert.
The Captain's Grille Rating:

I liked the Captain's Grille, the food was tasty and well prepared. I will go back again one day, but there a lot of other places I planning on trying first. The service was quite good as well.
This is the last review of this trip...good thing I will be going back twice in the next three weeks!

I'm gonna put The Wave on my list for Sep.
It may end up back on my list for October! I hope you love it Uncle Remus!
We went to the Wave last month and loved every bit of it! Glad you did too!
Your review was one of the reasons it made it to my list!
Great report keep the pictures coming Thank you
Thanks, I appreciate it!
I am loving your reviews!
I have read so many great reviews of the Wave that it is on my 'must try' list for our next trip!
I hope you get a chance to go! I'm just hoping it doesn't get too popular so we can get ressies again!
Great report so far :)
Thanks!:)

DBF and I headed down to Orlando to 48 hours, basically to see if we could, an d survive! I tried for weeks to get a reservation at 'Ohana and finally did!
We arrive about 30 minutes early , and were seated after about 15 minutes. (No complaints, we just woke up earlier than expected and went to see what would happen). We were lead to a table right by the window...I am kicking myself for not taking a picture of the view!
On the way to our table the hostess picked up our bread...
http://i733.photobucket.com/albums/ww339/figment814/IMG_2187.jpg
I nibbled on it, because I knew a lot more food was coming
Next our server brought the fruit
http://i733.photobucket.com/albums/ww339/figment814/IMG_2191.jpg
Perfect! Fresh, chilled, delish!
Then finally...
http://i733.photobucket.com/albums/ww339/figment814/IMG_2193.jpg
Wow! I was really impressed with the eggs...I am picky about my eggs and these were great. DBF ate most of the bacon, and then some. The potatoes were good, and the sausage was excellent. We also had a couple of healthy servings of mickey waffles, but I forgot pics!
When we were done, this is what was left...
http://i733.photobucket.com/albums/ww339/figment814/IMG_2198.jpg
So, I guess we liked it! Or loved it.....
Seriously I really loved this breakfast. Out of the four table service breakfasts I have had, this is by far my favorite. (Cape May and Boma are both very good, not overly impressed with Spoodles!)
The character interaction was awesome. I was so happy to meet all of them, and they were great with adults! i enjoyed the parade as well.
So, Mirror, Mirror on the wall, is this the best breakfast of them all?
Absolutely!

Well, we initially had reservations at Coral Reef, but we overfed ourselves at 'Ohana! So...we cancelled at our Coral Reef Ressies and decided to play it by ear!
We spent some time at innoventions, sorting garbage, participating in the velcro show (much to my embarrasment!) and now have a video game with/of myself!
After that, we headed towards World showcase and I began dreaming of trying counter service at Morocco or Germany, and DBF says "Let's eat at Mexico!" Uh Oh. Based on previous reviews, I wasn't overly jazzed about trying it, but I figured why not? If I hated it, I could always get school bread or two!
We walk up to the check in desk and wait in line behind two couples. Here are experienced some of the rudest behavior I had experienced at Disney...and not from staff from other patrons! We were cut in front of by two people, and then a drunk guy who was asking for the bathroom. And then shouted to his friends in line for the ride.
Anywho...the host was pleasant, gave us a pager, and we were seated pretty quickly thereafter
So we get our seats...
http://i733.photobucket.com/albums/ww339/figment814/IMG_2259.jpg
I really think that San Angel Inn has a wonderful atmosphere. We really enjoyed it!
DBF, who is usually picky, thought we should try the duck taco which I believe had pineapple salsa on it as well.
http://i733.photobucket.com/albums/ww339/figment814/IMG_2266.jpg
These had a really good flavor.
I ordered the Pollo a las Rajas.
http://i733.photobucket.com/albums/ww339/figment814/IMG_2268.jpg
Grilled chicken breast served over red peppers, onions, chile poblano, chorizo (Mexican sausage) and melted cheese.
This was very good! The breast was tender, the sauce was creamy, and the vegetables were well cooked, not overdone.
DBF ordered Sirloin Asado con Chilaquiles
http://i733.photobucket.com/albums/ww339/figment814/IMG_2267.jpg
Grilled sirloin steak, with Chilaquiles (layers of fried corn tortilla, green tomatillo sauce, topped with fresh cheese, onions, sour cream) and served with Mexican rice and beans (hold the sour cream)
He really enjoyed it, I thought it was okay. I am not a fan of tomatillo sauce, so it may just be my pallette.
I didn't want dessert, but dbf insisted and ordered the flan...
http://i733.photobucket.com/albums/ww339/figment814/IMG_2269.jpg
Turns out, we don't like flan.
So the final verdict?
:):love::)
Three smilies...I might return just for the chicken, and would definitely get the duck tacos again. Renovation or not, we will probably return eventually just a dozen other restaurants I want to try first!
Up Next: California Grill...2 people, 3 entrees...:scared1:

We had very late, well for us, reservations at California Grill. We arrived a little early, and headed up to the bar and got seats right away. We ordered our drinks (Malbec for me, not sure what DBF.)
We were seated pretty quickly, and then it was time for fireworks...and my second wine...this will haunt me a little later...like minutes...
Our waiter waited to bring our bread until we returned from the show...I have only seen wishes from CG, and it is a wonderful experience. (though I was irritated by a group of several couples who talked loudly through the whole thing.)
I wasn't in the mood for a cheese plate, and none of the appetizers looked that good to us. DBF could not decide on an entree, so he decided we should order three!
This is where the wine begins to get me in trouble...moved on shortly to glass number three...on an empty stomach....
So for my entree, I got...
http://i733.photobucket.com/albums/ww339/figment814/IMG_2271.jpg
I was pretty tipsy and dug in before I remembered to take a picture. It was a nice presentation before I destroyed it.
Unfortunately this is an item that is not on the on-line menus...It is an ostrich filet. VERY VERY good...
For our "split" entree we got
http://i733.photobucket.com/albums/ww339/figment814/IMG_2272.jpg
A filet, with a type of barbecue sauce, on mashed potatoes. This was also very good.
DBF got Grilled Pork Tenderloin with goat cheese polenta, button mushrooms and zinfandel glaze...but substituted mashed potatoes for the polenta. I had this dish last october, and it was better this time around!
I was not overly pleased with signature dessert I had last time, so this time I ordered...
http://i733.photobucket.com/albums/ww339/figment814/IMG_2274.jpg
Caramel Apple - Warm Heirloom and Granny Smith apple, golden raisin, and walnut tart with caramel ice cream, rum-caramel sauce, and apricot almond jam
This was much more up my alley...in the background you can see DBF's Valrhona Chocolate Cake and Raspberry - Warm chocolate cake with molten center, housemade raspberry ice cream and raspberry sauce.
As of now I have eaten at 5 signature restaurants, and I would return to any of them in a second. California Grill is worth it for the fireworks alone, and the food has been good both times I've been there. But I would probably not consider it my number one (maybe tied for number 2).

Flying Fish has been the best meal I have had at WDW bar none. But Jiko was amazing as well.
(I have also eaten at Brown Derby and Artist Point, which both have good food, but not the great atmosphere of the others.)

We decided to take it easy on Day 2 of our 48 hour trip. After grabbing a quick breakfast snack at Artist Palette, we laid out by the pool before heading to downtown disney for some shopping and a bite to eat.
I was thinking Earl of Sandwich, but DBF suggested T-Rex. We had eaten there twice in the fall, and we love the atmoshpere, and DBF enjoys the food.
There was a bit of line for food, so we decided to see if there were seats at the bar....and there were. We had eaten previously in the Ice Room and the other area, so that wasn't a necessity for us. (Though we do love the ice room!)
The bar itself is pretty cool.
http://i733.photobucket.com/albums/ww339/figment814/IMG_2279.jpg
We decided to start with an appetizer...
http://i733.photobucket.com/albums/ww339/figment814/IMG_2283.jpg
Melalosaurus Mozzarella - Seared Mozzarella with creamy marinara and mozzarella fingers
The Moz sticks are awesome...though I have never found a mozzarella stick I didn't like (as long as it's cooked!)
We have had the appetizer before, and it was definitely better than the last time, as the seared mozzarella was warm all the way through, which it wasn't last time.
For my main, I wasn't wanting anything too heavy, so I went with...
http://i733.photobucket.com/albums/ww339/figment814/IMG_2290.jpg
Lost World Chicken Salad Sandwich - Rotisserie chicken with tarragon, celery, onions, toasted almonds and mayonnaise, served on a croissant
It was very good, and lasted me the rest of the day.
I would rate T-Rex
;):);)
It's good, and I like eating there, but it is not overly special to go back multiple times. If I had an 8 year old son who was into dinosaurs, I'd make it a must visit though.

We ate breakfast at Roaring Forks, 3 out of 4 morning while staying at the Wilderness Lodge on the Girl's Trip.
I won't do a full review as I think most counter service breakfast our created equal, so I just grab a bagel and yogurt and go on my way. (My experience is limited, so I'm sure there are some standouts out there.)
But here are two pics of real food we had...

For those who didn't read the not too exciting pre-story, I was in the World for a quick 48 hour trip with DBF, and returned 4 days later for a Girl's only trip. I did most of the planning, because, well, I love to plan.
Tusker House was our first ADR, but not part of the original plan, as it didn't really sound all that appealing to me, and I am generally not a fan of buffets. But then I heard about the special Nemo show seating. I had never seen the show mainly because I am not patient enough to wait in line for 45 minutes or more.
We showed up about 15 minutes before our scheduled time and waited patiently while the hostess helped another customer, standing just a couple of feet behind the podium. As soon as she was done, a woman stepped right behind me and shouted (seriously), "I have a reservation," as if psychicly she knew i didn't. (Even though I did.) This also happened to me the week prior at San Angel Inn, thought that time the psychic abilities were more honed because I actually didn't have a reservation. Thankfully, the hostess asked for the next person in line, and I stepped up and gave her my name and reservation time...loudly enough for the shouter to hear me. I of course got an equally loud harumph.
We were told they were quite behind schedule and would have a 30-40 minute wait.
Great, I thought, not exactly a good start for the 'ol Tusker House.
Luckily, we waited only about 10 minutes, before we were led to our seats.
http://i733.photobucket.com/albums/ww339/figment814/IMG_2377.jpg
When we were seated, I was a little confused about the concern over wait time, as the restaurant was only half full.
http://i733.photobucket.com/albums/ww339/figment814/IMG_2375.jpg
And this is where the review starts going up...
http://i733.photobucket.com/albums/ww339/figment814/IMG_2383.jpg
Quite a large buffet area, so I didn't know where to start, so I walked around and started over by the salads, which is probably how I ended up with a very small plate with a lot food on it.
http://i733.photobucket.com/albums/ww339/figment814/IMG_2366.jpg
and a little bit closer
http://i733.photobucket.com/albums/ww339/figment814/IMG_2370-1.jpg
I am pretty sure this plate contained a sampling of most of these below:
Marrakesh Couscous with Roasted Vegetables
Vegetable Samosa
Jollaf Rice
Pearl Couscous laced with Sweet Basil Essence
Basmati rice with Toasted almond slivers
Tomato and Cucumber Salad with fresh mint and Yogurt Dressing
Tunisian Couscous Salad
Curried Basmati Rice
Cury Chicken
For my second plate, I went with a little more protein
http://i733.photobucket.com/albums/ww339/figment814/IMG_2372.jpg
Hummus, pita, tabbouleh, mashed potatoes, golden potatoes, Carved beef and pork loin.
And finally, desserts...
http://i733.photobucket.com/albums/ww339/figment814/IMG_2373.jpg
Warm Banana-Cinnamon Bread Pudding with Vanilla Sauce, a carrot cake, a chocolate lava cake, and a seven layer bar type thing.
This was some seriously good food from beginning to end. The only things I wouldn't have eaten at least two servings except for the cucumber salad and the red curry chicken. But, this is really a matter of personal tastes. When I got to the dessert table, all that was left of the bread pudding was a few bits stuck to the corners of the pan. I asked if it would be possible to get a new pan, and I got to try some DELICIOUS warm, moist bread pudding. So very good! The sauce for the beef and pork were amazing. Our server was great, friendly and anticipated our drink needs.
So mirror, mirror on the wall, what's your call?
:love::love::love::love::love:
(This is a seriously great meal, but obviously not on par with a signature...but the five stars comes from comparing it to other lunches/buffets etc that I have had on property.)

When I was planning this trip I knew that I wanted to eat a a signature restaurant I hadn't tried before. Since we were staying at Wilderness Lodge, Artist Point was the easiest choice, particularly based on our plan of attack for our four days.
We got back to the hotel after a long, but wonderful day at Animal Kingdom Lodge. We got downstairs and across the hotel a little early, and waited in the bar for a little while. Unfortunately, the wine list in the bar is minimal, and not what is in the restaurant. I decided to stick with water...even so the bartender was quite attentive to us.
We were seated soon enough, and we placed our drink orders.
We had been joking about the cheese plate earlier, and decide that would be one of our appetizers.
http://i733.photobucket.com/albums/ww339/figment814/IMG_2476.jpg
It was good, but not as great as some of the others I've tried. Also, I like when they give you a little card explaining the cheeses (California Grill has a great description card.)
We also ordered another appetizer...
http://i733.photobucket.com/albums/ww339/figment814/IMG_2475.jpg
This is wild boar with a mushroom bread pudding. I am not sure what an appropriate word to describe this is....HEAVEN would be close. I expected wild boar to be pork like (Boar= wild pig in my brain I guess). I was wrong, but in a good way. It had a more beef like consistency, but very tender, melt in your mouth kind of beef. The mushroom bread pudding it was served with was a perfect match. This has surpassed the ostrich at Jiko, as my favorite appetizer. WOW!
I had been looking forward to trying the Buffalo steak...but when we go the menu it wasn't there.:scared1: I had been warning Doc, that the menus were out of date and not to get her heart set on something...and guess what I did...
I debated about what to get, but after awhile decided...I'm in Disney and how often do I get to try Buffalo spareribs...so I went with the buffalo subsitute.
http://i733.photobucket.com/albums/ww339/figment814/IMG_2478.jpg
This was....interesting. It's been almost two weeks, and I can still taste it. It was extremely rich, and served with an extremely rich side (scalloped potatoes). While I enjoyed it, after a few bites, I had had enough.
I had read several reviews that described Artist Point as having Signature food, in a very un-signature atmosphere. While I don't think it's the prettiest signature restaurant, I am a big fan of the arts and crafts style, so there were parts I did love.
I loved the chandeliers
http://i733.photobucket.com/albums/ww339/figment814/IMG_2480.jpg
We thought about ordering dessert, but we were disappointed with the selection. They all contained fruit :scared1: I know, the horror of fruit with dessert! (This is sarcasm in case you missed it )
Overall, I enjoyed Artist Point, but I won't be rushing back any time soon. I really want to try Narcossee's, Citricos, and Yachtsman first, and go back to Jiko again.
Even though I loved the appetizer, my overall experience, as compared to other sigatures...

The next morning was another early one! We were at DHS in time for park opening, and managed to do Tower of Terror, the Great Movie Ride, Toy Story Mania, Backlot tour, Muppets and Star Wars (just Doc, I ran to get a fast pass for Tower of Terror, since I cant do Star Wars.)
We made it to lunch right on time and were seated in pretty short order.
This is my second trip to the Derby, and mainly went because Doc wanted to go.
I selected BBQ Breast of Chicken - Served with Romaine hearts tossed in Green Goddess dressing and grilled flatbread. -
http://i733.photobucket.com/albums/ww339/figment814/IMG_2505.jpg
This was about perfect, though and I pretty much finished the whole thing.
One of my favorite desserts that I have had at Disney is at the Brown Derby, so of course I had to order it...but first my friends's dessert
http://i733.photobucket.com/albums/ww339/figment814/IMG_2509.jpg
Flourless chocolate cake. Serious heaven.
And Mine
http://i733.photobucket.com/albums/ww339/figment814/IMG_2508.jpg
Banana White Chocolate Toffee Tower - Served on a cocoa almond cookie and Bananas "Foster."
Bananas Foster and Flourless chocolate cake are my two favorite desserts in the world, so I love the Brown Derby for this simple fact.
How does the Brown Derby fair?
:);):);)
The I have had a lot of good food at the Brown Derby, but it just seems a tad expensive. I will definitely go again one day, even if it's just for the desserts. Good or bad, I still need to try Grapefruit Cake!

After Disney Hollywood Studios, we headed to Magic Kingdom, mainly to ride Splash Mountain, but managed to squeeze in a few other things too. (Magic Kingdom was our last day park and we didn't want to get soaked and then get on a plane!)
We rushed back to our room showered, and headed over to Downtown Disney in time for our reservation at Raglan Road. I have been trying to eat here since last October, but it hadn't worked out previously.
We were seated after about 10 minutes.
It took a while, and we didn't realize who it was at first, but a manager came over to take our drink order. Since we had been sitting a while we also gave him our food order.
First up came our drinks...we each ordered beer flights.

I do enjoy Bread Pudding, but I thought, how good can bread pudding REALLY be?
Let me tell you, I would sell my mother to eat this every night of my life, it was that good.
So now for the rating...
:):):):)
I really loved so much about Raglan Road, the atmosphere, the food, entertainment. The only thing stopping me from a 5th smilie, is that we saw our waiter twice. Once before the entrees showed up, and once to bring the check, I was not pleased, but I don't know if that is typical. I definitely would like to try RR for lunch in the future!!

Oh my, I do love that bread pudding and I'm not much on desserts. I know I should be banned from the DIS making a statement like that... Seriously we went to RR for the first time last November and LOVED it!:thumbsup2

I enjoy doing character breakfasts, even though I don't bring kids with me...It's become a must do for me...I started with Cape May as I thought it was more sedate...last week I ate at 'Ohana, and decided to go for the holy grail, Chef Mickey's for this trip.
We arrived by boat from Wilderness lodge...early as usual.
We waited for a while and were lead to our seats.
Quite a nice view I had!
http://i733.photobucket.com/albums/ww339/figment814/IMG_2569.jpg
For my first plate, I went savory...
http://i733.photobucket.com/albums/ww339/figment814/IMG_2557.jpg
We've got from the top: tator tots, cheese omelette, cheesy potato/hashbrowns, sausage, biscuit and gravy and in the middle, breakfast pizza.
Overall, this was mediocre. I actually liked the pizza enough, that it will show up on my next plate. The biscuit and gravy was decent. The rest was not that great.
For my second plate, I went with sweet, and a little savory
http://i733.photobucket.com/albums/ww339/figment814/IMG_2564.jpg
Of course we have a mickey waffle, pancake, french toast, another slice of pizza, some potatoes, and another piece of sausage.
Again, nothing special.
We did have some good character interaction though!
Overall, I was not especially impressed with Chef Mickey's I, don't think I'll be back anytime soon. I rather return to Cape May, 'Ohana, or try something new if I want a character breakfast. If I was traveling with kids, I might consider coming back again.
Overall, :):) 1/2 smiles is all I can muster.

I was excited and nervous to try Chefs, because I had read several not so great reviews. We arrived right on time and were seated within about 10 minutes.
We were seated in a table that was pushed up against a column, and if I put on 5 pounds, we would not be able to sit there. Once I squeezed in I was stuck for the evening.
We started of course with a cheese plate...
http://i733.photobucket.com/albums/ww339/figment814/IMG_2577.jpg
They did not give us a description card, so I am not sure what any of them are! There was a goat cheese, brie, a swiss type cheese, and then the best one that I'm not sure what it was!
We also both wanted to try the french onion soup, so we also split that.
http://i733.photobucket.com/albums/ww339/figment814/IMG_2578.jpg
The soup was okay, but definitely needed some salt...and didn't really have any onions! That actually is a bonus for me, but Doc was disappointed.
To continue the dairy parade, I had to try the Mac and Cheese known in France as Gratin de macaroni - Baked macaroni with cream and gruyere cheese.
http://i733.photobucket.com/albums/ww339/figment814/IMG_2580.jpg
This was good, pretty much as expected, and was just probably a poor choice for me based on everything else we were having. I think I would have liked it more if I hadn't already had a massive amount of cheese!
Seeing as I had already taken the dairy train this far, I figured I might as well take it all the way and ordered the Creme Brule for dessert
http://i733.photobucket.com/albums/ww339/figment814/IMG_2583.jpg
I actually quite liked this.
Overall, Chefs was right about what I expected. We did have a pretty good server, and I actually kind of liked the bustling atmosphere. The food was about on par with what I have had at other restaurants at Epcot.
I would rate Chefs ...:):):)

We ended up canceling our WCC breakfast reservation so we could make it to rope drop on our day at MK...there was the benefit that I could try the CS restaurant and sandwich I had been salivating for months....
Columbia Harbor House, we were the second people in line because we went right at 10:30 a.m.

Lighthouse Sandwich - hummus with tomato & broccoli slaw
It was everything I dreamed of! Something was off with the soda...but I definitely would go back here again!

Saving the best for last...
Doc and I were very excited to be going to our Tea at the Grand Floridian...We even got there about 45 minutes early!
We were seated relatively quickly and were led to our table. Our server noticed my black (casual) skirt and asked if I wanted a black napkin instead of a white one.
Of course, and boy did I feel Fancy! :rotfl:
We decided to both go with the grand tea...which starts with...
http://i733.photobucket.com/albums/ww339/figment814/IMG_2624.jpg
I went with the Gardenview Signature tea which was wonderful...and I am not really a tea drinker.
http://i733.photobucket.com/albums/ww339/figment814/IMG_2621.jpg
okay, its just a cup, but I drank plenty of tea!
After we had a little time with our champagne and tea, our server brought our sandwiches.
http://i733.photobucket.com/albums/ww339/figment814/IMG_2626.jpg
The sandwich selections were chicken salad, tuna salad, cucumber, pear and gorgonzola, and egg salad. I don't eat tuna, so I actually have two chickens. All of these were wonderful, but I particularly like the the chicken and egg.
The next course was
http://i733.photobucket.com/albums/ww339/figment814/IMG_2627.jpg
Scones, with real Devonshire imported from where ever devonshire cream comes from...england?
And a fruit tart. I would have paid 5 bucks for the mini jam jar. Everything is better when it's mini.
Finally for dessert we were given the option of Trifle, strawberries and cream, or pastries...we both went for the pastries.
I got
http://i733.photobucket.com/albums/ww339/figment814/IMG_2630.jpg
If you've read my reviews, you probably realize I don't like fruit in my desserts...But I couldn't resist the swan, and you know what, it WAS good! The other is a Tiramisu dessert. Doc, got that one too, plus an eclair.
http://i733.photobucket.com/albums/ww339/figment814/IMG_2631.jpg
What an amazing experience this was! It was a perfect relaxing end to our trip, I can't wait to go back one day...in fact I'm considering a September trip, just so I can go for the tea! It may not be for everyone...but I thought it was wonderful and so very filling! I expected to be hungry a couple of hours later, but it was definitely a meal!

Thanks so much for your reviews. Everything just looks SO yummy! Glad you enjoyed Chefs for dinner. I went for lunch and loved it. Now will have to try dinner! The Lighthouse sandwich looks quite lovely. And the tea... :cloud9: I've actually resisted doing this as I am not a big tea drinker but I think your pics and description have pushed me over the edge! :upsidedow
