I just started the podcast, and I was literally moved to stand up while listening to Pete's impassioned response (it deserves more credit than calling it a "rant").

Bravo, sir! :thumbsup2

i am glad that you said what you did. the only thing i wish you could have done differently would be to not sign up for it. i know that you have a show to run and need to report to everyone, but signing up just shows Disney that people are interested in it. this makes it appear to be a success instead of a failure for them.

Personally I was hoping for some sort of patriotic "Battle Hymn of the Republic" or even "Golden Dreams" playing in the background during the rant. At the very least I was picturing Pete doing his best Bobby Knight impression throwing a chair around the room.

The show WAS worth the wait, as if they had to ask. I couldn't stop giggling during the last couple of segments because it became such a typical free-for-all snarkfest. :lovestruc

Pete,
To me the best part was you ability to switch gears from the rant and then acknowledge the exemplary talent at Disney Cruise Line. Your passion was clear both when they do it right and when they do it DOA23.

Thank goodness I am not alone! I don't have a bluetooth but I was wishing I did because I kept talking to my ipod in my car this morning and I just know the people passing me on the highway thought I was nuts. I could not agree more with what was said. While I am intrigued with the history of Disney and am fascinated with learning more about Walt, the big draw for myself and my family are the parks and resorts. I would love a program that takes into account the guests like us who, like Pete said, really LOVE the parks and share that love with our friends, family, co-workers, and basically anyone who will stand still long enough to listen to us ramble on about Disney.

Here in Australia they want another $65 to send it ontop of the $75 to sign up. Amazon can sent stuff here for $15, why does disney have to use such an expensive way? I could buy around 20 dvds here in Australia for the price of one membership sent to Australia :confused3

Thanks Pete. Disney will never hear what we said when we first read about D23 -- they'll hear you, though (I hope). You can speak for me anytime. :worship: :worship:

Well done Pete!

I was a bit concerned he would keel over for lack of breath in some parts (but the same with the Whopper List! )

Now let me see if I can put this into perspective ... $US140 = $NZ280 - what else can I get for that money?
~ A months worth of groceries
~ The electricity bill for an entire month in the middle of winter
~ 5 full tanks of petrol in my car
~ 3 months worth of phone and internet
~ 28 takeaway meals at our local Indian restaurant
~ Return flights to any city in New Zealand and probably 1 nights accommodation
~ A return flight to a number of cities on the east cost of Australia
~ One way to many pacific island destinations

Now let me think... a fancy "magazine" book, discounted admission to an event I probably can't attend, merchandise that I'd probably need to take out a second mortgage just to pay for the postage on... did I miss anything?

Think I'll pass.

I couldn't agree more with Pete's comments on the show - he summed it up wonderfully. He had us nodding in agreement about some sort of loyalty program.

I can't see many overseas people joining the "club" - in some countries the value of the currency has plummeted against the US - New Zealand is at a 6 year low at the moment.

However us overseas Disney fans do tend to go to Disney for much longer periods of time than those in the US, we typically have more annual leave, and when you consider the costs of the airfares, it makes sense to go less frequently but stay much longer. We always go for 2-3 weeks at a time - if not longer!

Disney - please recognise those of us that are loyal fans - we may not stay loyal if we don't feel we are getting value for money!

Thank you Pete!!!!! I have been unhappy with the "Great Deal" of the stay 4 get 3 free deal. Please we live in state and try to do weekends not weeks, that does not help us. Then you raise the cost of the TIW card while you have decreased the restaurant quality and the number of restaurants that you can use this card at. I have had this card since its inception and will not be renewing it this year. I have stayed hundreds of times at WDW and I get treated better as a Marriott Rewards member then by Disney.
So you GO Pete. I just wish we could send this podcast straight to Bob Iger.

Agreed...I was on board with Pete's rant until I read that he and many others signed up for it anyway. Disney will always put his crap out as long as people keep paying for it.
