It basically says that Disney should not expect its die-hard fans to pay for the "privilege" of being the targets of marketing. They mention several free online Disney communities (including the DIS and the Disney fan page on Facebook) and gave a comparison of other services for similar money (Amazon Prime, Netflix, XBox Live and Six Flags).

I have to agree - there doesn't seem to be anything worth the $74.99 to me. If I really want that magazine I'll go to Barnes and Noble. The author of the article predicts D23 will either not exist in a year, or be changed to be free or low cost.

Oh, and I'm a DVC member, so I've already put my money where my mouth is with respect to my love of Disney. I'm very sad that TPTB thought this was so great they've been dangling this for months.

Again I really see why people are disappointed and were hoping for me but I really do think it IS worth the money. With all the magazines, it is only an extra $11 for the club, with the free gift, card, certificate, cool t-shirts (to buy but not expensive), access to special events (yet to be announced), etc...

For $11 dollars I think the extra stuff is worth it. I understand being disappointed by what was offered but I still think it's a good value (if you want the beautifully put together magazine that is).

$30 will get you a subsription to Celebrations magazine which is really really nice and has good articles in it.

They seem to be forgetting the original Magic Kingdom Club...at least it gave discounts as well as other benefits which I don't see D23 doing.

I can get Time Magazine for about $30 too for a year but that's not the magazine that we're all talking about

Any idea when the new one will be posted? I'm leaving for Disney on Sunday and would LOVE to listen to it on the way down :)

Same here, I totally agree. It's pretty expensive for a membership card. I was disappointed by hearing that.

I'll better listen this weeks podcast, it might helps. :lmao:

I personally think the D23 Club was started so people would stop asking for a return of the MK Club. They obviously wouldn't have 2 clubs.

The whole concept of the MK Club was so much better.

I think my point was I can get a really good magazine about Disney with very nice photos, good articles, two more issues per year, and it costs 60% less.

It's just like many things associated with WDW right now, you can get better quality at a much cheaper price outside the Disney bubble. :grouphug:
