I am going to VWL in May for 6 nights :yay: . I am currently booked to go with DH and DS. But my DH is not sure if he will be able to go. My DS and myself will still be going. :goodvibes
So, what is the latest that I can call MS in order to drop DH from the reservation. (e probably may not know until last minute)
Also, will I have to change my dining ressies to reflect a change from 3 to 2 people as I will be afraid that I would loose some great reservations.
Thank you

Do you have the dining plan? That would be the only problem that I can think of if your DH doesn't go. I think changes there have to be made 24 or 48 hours ahead of time.
I would try to change my dining reservations, but if I couldn't, just show up and mention that one party couldn't make it. We've showed up with fewer and even with one more person and it's never been a problem.
Have a great time at VWL...my favorite home DVC.

If someone else reads this and I'm wrong, please speak up. But I think as long as the type of room you reserved isn't changing, I think you can pretty much call MS up until the day before your trip if you're just removing a name from the reservation.
Now for example, if you had to change your reservation from a 1BR to a Studio as a result of your husband backing out, then that might be a whole different story and I don't know how much notice MS would need for that.
As for the dining reservations, I wouldn't change anything. What I've done in that situation is, when I got to the podium and they saw the reservation was for 3 and only 2 of us showed up, I just told them that the 3rd person wasn't feeling well and is back at the resort. They didn't give me a problem. If you call and try to change all of your dining reservations from 3 to 2 people, you might lose some of them if they feel they want to give your table to a real party of 3 and they don't have a table for a party of 2.
I'm curious to see what other DIS'ers have to say.

For the dining reservations, I would not worry about this. You are talking only a 1 person change. I think if you had ressies for 6 and now needed it for 2, I might, but not for a 3 to 2 situation.
I agree with others that I don't think dropping the name from your reservations is that big of a deal and can probably do it within days of the trip. You may want to call MS (or send them an email) asking what the policy is.

There's NO need to call anyone, unless you booked the dining plan. When you're standing at the checkin counter simply tell them there's only 2 of you. Same thing goes for checking in at your dining reservations.

Thank you for the replies.
I won't worry as much now because I do not plan on changing my 1 bedroom (it will just be more room for DS and myself!) but I will call in early May which is about 3 weeks ahead of time to take DH's name off ressie due to the DDP. I hope he can go but he is just not sure at this point...

I wouldn't remove his name until you are quite sure he is NOT going. I think you need to do it 3-4 days ahead because of the DDP, but I wouldn't call more than a week ahead if there's any chance he might go.

I certainly would NOT change your dining reservations! With 3, you'll be seated at a 4-person table and there are a lot of those. With 2, you might not be able to get a reservation because they have very few 2-tops. If you're happy with your reservations, leave them alone!
