Iger talked about D23 and Lassiter is on now. D23 website is up, pretty cool, not sure if it's all worth 80 beans though?

The stories I've seen on it (like in the Wall Street Journal) indicate that Disney is trying to get some revenue from folks who visit sites like this one. They see a huge market in people who enjoy Disney, and that market is currently being served by people who visit free sites to swap information, rumors, and general chitchat. They apparently believe that there is a large group of those people willing to pay $80/year for a membership at an "official" website where they can do the exact same thing.
I think they overestimate the market. Sure, some will pay, but most will stay on the free boards that are unaffiliated with Disney.

I've looked through some of the content and it is enjoyable reading and great info in good packaging but it is still the official line. I haven't seen any info on there being discussion forums on the site. I'm tempted but not won over yet. I'll always be loyal to the dis thats for sure!

The forums could just be my interpretation of the WSJ story. It could just be nothing more than a for-pay Disney news and info site; in that case I really have absolutely no idea why it would be worth $80/year. I can't imagine any piece of information which Disney themselves would disseminate that isn't already readily available elsewhere on the internet for free. OK, there's a magazine, but I have yet to see the magazine that's worth $80/year to me.
