Ok I have been in a bit of a mod recently and want to make it up to my partner. He has been really patient and I want to do something special for him. Looking for ideas from you all on how I can just make him smile and make his day a little better. Nothing too over the top, just a simple way to let him know I care for him deeply.

Once during a rough time in our relationship, when I had gotten home, Chip was already home and was making dinner, some filet with a few sides and as I walked into the bedroom, the bed was covered in red rose petals. It was probably one of the sweetest things he's ever done.

Every once in a while I will come home to the wife in the kitchen cooking. The table is already set with candles and wine. When I walk through the door, she gives me a glass of wine and a kiss, and after I've changed out of work clothes, she brings the food to the table and serves me dinner! On a couple of those occasions she has a card next to my plate, with a heart-felt sentiment inside. :lovestruc Let me just say -- THAT made my day pretty special!! And it wasn't expensive or "over the top" ... well, I thought SHE was over the top, but in the best possible way!!

there's just something about knowing that someone else has taken the trouble to think about you and try to do something thoughtful .... it's hard to resist. :goodvibes

Much the same here. Once during a rough patch I came down to dinner (my office is upstairs) to find candle light, soft music and a lovely meal.

There seems to be something universal about the person you love taking the time to express that love through a lovely table setting and a delicious dinner.

Is there something that your partner would appreciate (like doing all the ironing) that is usually not something you do?

Thanks for the tips. It looks like my company will lay off between 600-800 people some time next week. Needless to say I’m really worried. We have known about the pending lay off for about 4 weeks now and it is just killing us. We are all so tired of waiting. We just want them to do it.

My partner really does deserve an award for dealing with all of this uncertainty the past few weeks.

I hope you get answers about your job soon. It is awful not knowing.

Don - Sending you lots of good wishes! :wizard: Sorry to hear about the impending lay-offs. :guilty:

Kind of silly, but last week DH and I went to lunch in the food court at the mall since we both had the morning off. That afternoon when I logged into the DIS I had a PM from him thanking me for having lunch with him. It was such a surprise, and sweet, too. :lovestruc
