Is this correct? We currently have a reservation at Contemporary for 8/25 to 8/29 with the ap discounted rate, we called CRO and asked if the new codes could be applied to our room rate in place of the ap rate and CRO said they cannot change our room rate once it is booked using the ap code. CRO stated that since the Contemporary didn't have any more standard rooms available for that date, they could not change the rate to the new discount rate.

I've heard that sometimes they won't change it. In which case I would book another one with the new code and then cancel the original. Good luck.

That's baloney. The agent just didn't feel like doing it.

Try again, and if you still don't get a cooperative agent, just make a new reservation with the code and then cancel the old reservation, as the previous poster suggested.

I just changed from an AP rate to the new code yesterday. No problem.

I have a DC rate for December. I specifically asked the CM to check for any special codes and he informed me that there were none available for that time frame (wishful thinking). I asked if a better discoount came out, could I switch to that discount and he said I could, just to call. I don't see how an AP discount is any different from DC.

I agree with everyone else, keep calling back.

If you booked a standard room with your AP, and tried to get a standard room with a code, this can be done unless they are sold out of the type of room (standard) that you want. This sounds like what happened to you.

You most certainly can switch from an AP rate to a code. I have done this many times. I would try calling again, and see if that category of room has opened up for you. All it takes is a somewhat knowledgeable CM who can switch your deposit from one ressie to another. Good Luck! :):D:)

CRO stated that since the Contemporary didn't have any more standard rooms available for that date, they could not change the rate to the new discount rate.

This is the key point - there are no discounted rooms (or no rooms at all) for your date. If there were rooms with the discount code available for your date, then you could switch it - in effect cancel & rebook. I booked CBR for December with DC discount (20%). I mentioned to the CM that I'm hoping a lower AP rate comes out, she said that's no problem, I could rebook and cancel the old reservation and get a credit to my card (I guess it couldn't just be switched since DC is through Magic Kingdom Travel).

Oops, I didn't read the original post carefully. I thought the agent was refusing to switch discounts, period. It appears the issue was that there were no discounted rooms available.

DebbieB and cindala are correct. If there are no standard rooms left at the code rate, then there's nothing they can move you "to" -- but it's definitely worth continuing to check, as availability fluctuates constantly.

What I do is call and ask if the rate is available for my dates (like a new reservation ) then if they say "yes" I tell them I have a reservation and I want to switch to the new rate. This worked for me with the Polynesian - everyone is correct, if they don't have the discounts in the system for any more rooms at that resort at a discounted rate, they won't give it to you.

Try booking online at the Disney site up to the point of putting in your credit info. If there is nothing available for what you want it will tell you right away and save you a long distance call.

I checked my dates and room type yesterday online and everything went through, so I knew they had it available at the new code rate. I then called the 407-WDisney line and asked if my AP rate could be changed to the CQT rate that had become available. She asked me to hold while she checked. I heard her typing on her computer for about 2-3 minutes and she came back on and told me that I now had the new rate and my deposit was applied to this. I have the same reservation # but my balance due when I get there is about $125 less with the new rate. Amberlee was very efficient and polite. (Thanks Amberlee if your out there)

I can think of plenty of other ways to spend that $125 around the WORLD, so they won't really be losing anything in the long run.:D

Can't wait till August. 2 1/2 months to go.:bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce:

either w/ CRO or WDWTC I've never had a problem with them changing my current rate to a better discounted/code rate and I always have them resend me new confirmation. Just love getting those big yellow envelopes in the mail, don't you? LOL!;)
