View Full Version : Is $189 REALLY the best I can do on a deluxe in July?

I've been checking EVERYPLACE, and have called CRO, and the best room-only rate I can find is $189/night for a standard at AKL USING AN ANNUAL PASS RATE! This is for July 7/13 to 7/27.

AAAAAK! Is it really THAT expensive? Has anyone gotten a better rate this July, and how?

Where they sold out of the Mickey Monitor rate that started at $124 for SV at AKL? That runs until 8/24 as I recall.

Hmmm.....I booked AKL from July 27-Aug 2 for $124 a night; this is an AP rate for a standard view room. It was announced in the Mickey Monitor this month. Good luck.

Have you tried a travel agent??? I was anti-travel agent until I used the one recommended on Mousesavers.com and they got us the most incredible rate at the GF, granted it's for September, but if I were you I'd give it a try.

Do you mind me asking what your incredible rate for GF is? I'm hoping to stay there next summer. Thanks.

The mickey monitor says...
...Most nights from June 23 through August 24, 2002, you can stay at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge from $124** per night – that’s a $115 savings*! But hurry and book because the number of rooms available with this Passholder offer is limited.

[stuff deleted] Just call (407) 560-PASS (7277) for reservations and availability. Don’t forget to ask for package code FPZ.

You guys are AWESOME!!! I just got the last three nights of our stay at AKL for $137 (that's the $124 rate with tax and everything). This is perfect for this trip, since we'll have our car with us and it won't matter that AKL is a bit off the beaten path.

I actually DO receive the Mickey Monitor, but the most recent one somehow disappeared and I never saw it, so I never saw that code.

I just KNEW we were going to be able to get a room on that code when the CRO castmember answered the phone and said, "Hi, I'm Cinderella, how may I help you today?"

Thanks a bunch! We can't wait to stay at AKL! :Pinkbounc

Sorry, no trade. :p

Are you in Portland by force or by choice?

By choice. A getaway weekend to Old Port in August!;)

musicfan, you'll have a great time at AKL, what rate description were you finally successful asking for (and getting)?... And btw, IMO it is a complete misconception that AKL is 'off the beaten path'. It's only 2 minutes from AK, 5 minutes from MGM & Epcot making MK the only real "hike" at a whopping 10-12 minutes...Plus the bus service rom AKL is far better than other resorts due to the dedicated service (AKL only).

The rate I got for the GF is $237 including tax. I'm extremely happy since the rack rate is $369. Granted I've heard of others getting lower rates at other times but that was a few years ago.

BTW, what is the Mickey Monitor????

Eeyore2U -- Well, you certainly had a great day for it today! This is the best weather we've had so far this year...

Captain Crook -- That's great to hear. Normally, we fly down and take the buses everywhere, and I've never had a complaint (except when we stayed at POR once and had to share with POFQ -- we were always at the tail end of every run). We'll have our car, but I'll bet we end up taking the buses everywhere anyway. Maybe because it's a deluxe, it will be at the beginning of the bus platform instead of way at the end?

MiknMinMouse -- The Mickey Monitor is a little "magazine" that you get as an Annual Pass holder. It comes once a month (I think) and it has little updates about Annual Passholder perks (like the AP lounges in some of the parks) as well as stories about the stuff going on at WDW. I've only received about five of them, and they always had codes in them for discounted resort room rates, but never for the time frame we travel in (we have to go in the summer). It figures that the one Mickey Monitor I miss would have a useful code!
