View Full Version : Current songs that annoy you...

Everyone has one or 2 songs that everytime they hear them, they just cringe. What are yours?

For me:

1) Beyonce - Single Ladies (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8mVEGfH4s5g). Her singing is great. The bass is great. The odd little techno-ish whine the producer decided to stick in there drives me NUTS! It doesnt have a rythm of it's own, and it doesnt go with the rythm of the song.

2) Taylor Swift - Love Story (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qB0dfbcmFgw). This girl has obviously never read either of the stories she mentions in the song (Romeo & Juliet and The Scarlet Letter), and the lyrics make this painfully obvious.

Pretty much anything that is played on mainstream radio...

I confess. I'm a bit of a music snob. :rolleyes1

Same here. We have a local radio station at work that plays only songs from the Top 5 in the charts every hour all day.

Ergo, I now can't stand the latest from;

Beyonce
Taylor Swift
Lilly Allen
Pussycat Trolls and Missy Elliot
The Ting Tings

and the worst offender of them all Lady Freakin' Gaga.

I only listen to the radio in the car. I have a switch to change the station on the steering wheel, so if something annoying comes on I change it really fast. Unfortunately there are only about 8 stations I can tolerate, and there are times where ALL of them are playing something I don't like or a commercial. So we listen to a CD. :)

The 2 I particualrly hate are the one about a child missing his blanket (easily the STUPIDEST lyric ever written) and the one about "hot then cold, yes, then no, up then down, in then out" or whatever. Yep. Hate those 2.

Funny that you should mention The Ting Tings. I was using http://www.seeqpod.com/ earlier today to find the song "Shut up and let me go" that was played on a recent episode of the L Word. They are not popular over here yet. I am kind of diggin' on their sound. But, I can certainly see that if it hits the radio that I will quickly tire of it.

Radio.....a neat concept, but they play the same 20 to 30 songs over and over until your ears bleed.

I've pretty much been over anything top-40 for the past 5 or 6 years now. I know I'll start to sound like an old granny when I say this, but......"It all sounds the same, and the singers (as a group) aren't as talented or creative as they were in the 90's, or even the earlier part of this decade". This was the decade where music actually started feeling like a business to me rather than a source of entertainment or art form.

"Let's pop out as many mediocre singles as we possibly can!!! And let's not write any of our own music!!!!! And let's have Timbaland do all the work for us!!!"

Sheesh.

OMG...I couldn't agree more...it's all so manufactured! And all the record labels pay the radio stations to play their snark, anyway. Listening to mainstream radio is like having what your musical tastes should be dictated to you...

And now I shall step off of my music-related soap box. I have many soap boxes for a variety of different topics. :)

I've given up on mainstream radio. :guilty: I did catch HappyHomoHour on 91.5 the other day. Wicked! :teeth: It's a local college's station. Doing a good job! ::yes::

Unusual Girl is another one that they play (early am). Get a real kick out of her perspective. ::yes::

Thank you!! I'm so embarrassed for that poor girl that she has no clue!!! (and if someone wrote the song for her, shame on them!) I cringe when I hear her refer to The Scarlet Letter. She obviously has no clue what the scarlet letter really stood for...:lmao:

For me it's really anything by Nickelback. I really cannot stand that man's voice. It makes my skin crawl when I hear it. :headache: Kinda makes me want to bang my head on a brick wall. :confused3

Mostly I like Pink... but it seems like "Naaah...Naah I'm still a ROCK STAR" is on the radio at work non-stop. In the words on another gone yet unlamented valley girl -- Gag me with a SPOON...

Nickelback started out as a hard rock/alternative band (some of their songs still are). His voice works for those songs. Pop songs...not so much.

I've become my parents! I only listen to 60s, 70s, 80s and gay dance classics from my club days...oh, and show tunes, of course...(eagerly awaiting the new B'way cast recordings of West Side Story and Hair!)

I can say (with some sadness, as I was a top 40 radio FREAK!) that pop music/Top 40 has passed me by....

I usually listen to an AM news station in the car going to/from work. It's my way of catching up on what's going on in the world. I don't care too much for the radio stations here. So if I do want to listen to music in the car it's either my iPhone or a CD with MP3s on it in my changer. I'm so out of touch on music. I had an iTunes gift card and figured I'd get some fresh music for my iPhone but could only find a couple songs I liked. I'm starting to get back into classic rock. I'm watching the Rush in Rio concert on VH1 Classic as I type this. Might have to start ripping all my classic rock CDs to listen to. I've also been enjoying the One Hit Wonders of the 80's on VH1.

I am going to say it......Brittany Spears!!!

If I listen to the radio I am usually listening to a classic rock station. However with my ipod (and over 13500 songs on it) I rarely listen to the radio anymore.

Of course there can be some value in doing that, Katy Perry should follow suit and NEVER sing live!!
