It was a lovely gift that she made us. I must use it.
I only drink tea, but most people drink both coffee and tea. A "cuppa" usually refers to tea not coffee, just short for "cup of" :thumbsup2
I drink a lot of different types... the normal "english breakfast" tea, then fruit teas, herbal teas such as camomile tea etc etc
We dont have a constant pot of coffee warming - do most Americans do that or is that just on tv shows:confused3 We also use "instant" coffee (just add water type) rather than the proper ground coffee a lot too, although we do use the other sort sometimes, but its more hassle, especially if only Neil is drinking it.:rolleyes1
Ok, thats my English lesson over for the day:teacher:
DVC provides English Breakfast Tea at the Beverage Station on deck 9. Why not try some?...with milk of course.
I've found some wierd and wonderful "stuff" in a small pot from China...its a muscle ache type of ointment... stinks like crazy (Neil wont come near me... so it actually has 2 uses!;)):lmao:, but it seems to be doing the trick:thumbsup2
I cant wear it at school though .... the smell would put the kids off their dinner:rotfl2:..... actually, not a bad idea if its chocolate pudding day;)... more left for us when they've gone:rolleyes1:thumbsup2
Isn't this called Tiger Balm? Yep....read on!
Thanks for the lesson:hug:
Nobody I know has a pot of coffee warming, well, at least not at home, I do know they keep a big pot brewing at work in the morning, but that's nasty stuff, cheap, icky:scared:
The only instant I do, which is very rarely is when I'm over at Bob's, he doesn't do coffee, but he keeps instant coffee bags.... like tea bags.... and also general foods international coffees... which is powdered like hot cocoa and has more sugar and stuff in it than caffeine I bet.
For some reason when I make coffee at home it's never as good as it is when they make it for me at Dunkin Donuts, so I go there every morning!:thumbsup2
On special days, like Sundays or on vacation it's Starbucks!:woohoo:
Yummy flavored fatful lattes! Costly though too.
Bob doesn't get why I can't just save money and make it at home, but
then he's not a coffee drinker so what would he know anyway:rolleyes:
That's my coffee lesson for you Karen:hug:
Starbucks has just launched instant coffee bags.

Hello everyone. I just got home from a pretty busy day. I had to pick up some young adults from a Young Adult Retreat in Masachusetts. The town I picked them up from is right next to Foxboro, so any NE Patriot fans out there will know roughly where I was.
It is good to be back home. The weather is crappy, and we are holed up in our house I think for the evening. That is unless I decide to splurge and get takeout for dinner. We were just flirting with that idea.

I like coffee from a Valero gas station near my house. I treat myself every once in awhile. I use to get it more often but I am trying to budget. I usually make it at home. You are right never as good. I also get a Dunkin Donuts coffee in Massachusetts when I visit. Along with a chocolate donut. Bad Me. I treat myself to a Starbucks every once in awhile. mostly vacations. I have a Starbucks gift card. I really budget with it so it last a long time. I go over my friends Joanne's for ice coffee every afternoon. I call her coffee Joanne Bucks. Yummy!!!!!!

Hey now you are really making me homesick. My sister lives in Foxboro, my mother lives in Mansfield, other sister lives in Attleboro, and brother lives in Norton. They all are within 10 miles from the Patriot's stadium. (at the most) I go near the stadium everytime I go to Christmas Tree Shop. My favorite shopping store when I go home. Maybe you went to Wrentham, North Attleboro. do any of these names sound familiar. Yes my mother said it is nasty rainy there today. Diane

My ex lived in Plainville when he was growing up. Yes the Christmas Tree Shop is a real fun store. I would spend a million dollars there if I didn't have to pack it in a suitcase to go home. My mom and dad love that store. They go every week no matter if they need anything or not. Diane

I wish the weather would improve. It's a very damp day rain showers and very chilly.
We have our Grand daughter with us today. Mom and Dad brought her over last night. So today she will be busy with us. Nancy is taking her to the library this morning. She loves reading. For a girl six she is a very good reader.
I just got back from the garage from having my truck inspected. It's all set for another year. I bought it in 2005 right after I retired with 32000 miles. It's a 2004 Ford Ranger XLT. It only has 42000 now. It will last for a few more years.

Thats always refreshing when the cars come back from inspection. Maine is pretty strict too!
In Connecticut, the only inspection we have is emissions (every 2 years), but that process is a mess. Our car is a 2005 and hasn't been inspected since new. I contacted our finance department to make sure I wasn't missing anything and was told that it is due for emission on 9/30/2009. When I questioned it saying that it would have been 4 years since the car was manufactured, they said, "I know, the state doesn't know what they are doing!"

Yummy!!!!!!

That's always refreshing when the cars come back from inspection.
We have the emissions checked very year. They stick the prob down into the fill pipe then connect the computer and it tells you everything.
Mine was doing the job. It is $18.00 to get a car or truck inspected in Maine.

Hazel was away this past weekend at her annual Ladies Retreat in Lancaster County, PA and Lina went with Bryan and his parents this past weekend to their vacation home at Lake Ariel, PA in the Pocono Mountains.
The house was way too quiet, almost spooky at times. I was sooooooooo glad to see both of them arrive home last evening!!! :thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2
This left me with a lot of time to reflect and decide if I wanted to have this surgery now, or later. My decision was made at lunchtime today to have the surgery ASAP.

Good Morning everybody.
Everybody have a great day
Dan
Always good to raise a reader! Glad she enjoys it so much!

Good evening everyone. We just returned from dropping the niece off in Albany, NY. The drive wasn't bad, but Samantha was really fighting going to sleep on the way home. She was being just slightly annoying doing whatever it took to keep her attention. She was bugging me to use my BlackBerry to write back to her DCL penpal. I told her no that I couldn't help her since I was driving and that it would be easier to write back on a computer. Then she started playing with the rear heat/ac controls and I explained to her that they wouldn't work since I had them turned off up front. Then she was hot, then cold...all within a minute of the other! :lmao::sad2:
Gradually she fell asleep and the van got pretty quiet.

Good morning everyone. I hope all is well wherever you may be this morning. Last night while on this thread for a bit, I read the thread about the Wonder being moved to Los Angeles in 1st Qtr of 2011. It sounds like Disney Dream will be taking the Wonder's spot in the Caribbean doing 3/4 day cruises. The Magic will continue doing 7 day cruises at least until the Fantasy comes online in early 2012.
Due to this, I am keeping all options open for 2011. If we can score good airfare, maybe we will do a 7 day Pacific cruise on the Wonder, if that is what she ends up doing. We may just have an extended WDW vacation as well. We have about 18 months to figure it all out.
Elaine and I were also talking about getting a wireless internet package. She wants to be able to surf the net while she is in the room with the kids at night as they fall asleep. Does Wireless work in the rooms and if so, what does it cost??? We will also be able to charge all of our iPods at once with the computer and store pictures and video on it. If we get it as well, I will be doing a live report too!:thumbsup2

From the DIS FAQ thread:
If you have a wireless ready laptop, you can use your personal computer to access the internet while onboard both the Disney Wonder and Disney Magic. You will find several "hot spots" throughout the ship, including most staterooms.
Printing is not available for wireless connections
Disney Magic
$0.75 USD per minute pay as you go
$55 USD for 100 minute plan ($0.55 per minute)
$100 USD for 250 minute plan ($0.40 per minute)
$150 USD for 500 minute plan ($0.30 per minute)

Thanks for sharing that Andy. Its a little more pricey then I would like, and there is no unlimited plan. Is it possible to load a page, then disconnect while reading it, then re-connect? I know that seems cheap, but I would save every minute I could!
Another question that is sort of IT related. What about smartphones? When I last cruised there was no cell service on board, but I believe there is now. Not that I want that, but I could use my browser on my phone. I'll head over and check the FAQ.

You are such good neighbors! Dan has to dog sit our son's 2 dogs when they go to Texas in April. We don't have to stay there though - but it does mean about 3 trips a day, roughly 8 miles round trip, to let them out. Heck maybe we ought to just stay there! No, I like my little house. Maybe the other boys will take some of the turns for us.

Our dog sitter passed away in September. Jasmine hasn't been boarded since she was a little pup. I don't know how she would do. I am hoping she can stay with our neighbors or something while we go on vacation in July and then on the cruise in October.

Thats funny! I have had sales assistants think I am mad plenty of times before. I was travelling on business in winter of 2002 while living in Maine. The day before travelling, we found out via ultrasound that Jay was indeed a boy. This was about 3 months before Elaine gave birth to him. While travelling, I switched planes at NYC LaGuardia Airport. While walking through the terminal I saw a cute NY Yankees baby outfit. I just had to buy it! While checking out, I am grinning ear to ear telling the clerk, "I found out yesterday I am having a son!" She looked at me as if to say, "and you're telling me this because?" Despite her apparant NY attitude and lack of interest, I was still smiling as I paid, and wished her a good day.
Here he is, 6 years later at his first Yankee game.

theres always next year.:sad2::sad2:
One of the kids that played football with DS plays for the Browns. We saw him and his wife last weekend. He gave 5 $1000 scholarships to 5 seniors. He is such a big teddy bear. His name is Issac Sowells. He said after football he wants to come back to Doss and coach. I am sure when he gets to that point if Tommy and Kevin are still there in the athletic department he will just have to let them know when he wants to start.

I heard about the Wonder but I didn't hear that the Magic was continuing the 7 days with the new ship doing the 3-4 days. That would seem to say that the 3/4 day cruises are making more money than the 7 days. Interesting. I hadn't thought of that.
Due to this, I am keeping all options open for 2011. If we can score good airfare, maybe we will do a 7 day Pacific cruise on the Wonder, if that is what she ends up doing. We may just have an extended WDW vacation as well. We have about 18 months to figure it all out.
Yep, I'm with you. I need to re-think our plans for 2011, if that is true.
It was expensive as I recall. and the wireless in the room was less than great. I learned to write everything out in WORD and then cut and paste to emails when I was on deck with a better connection. That's why I wanted wired connections in the rooms of the new ships. Unless you really surf the net, buy the smaller plan. That way you can do all of our computer work off-line and then go online to send it.

The main "poster" on that thread had information from one of the DCL captains. I believe he is sr. Captain on the Wonder (Captain Henry??)). He is getting the Disney Dream and shared that the Dream will be taking the Wonder's rotation on the 3/4 day cruises. He mentioned the economics behind it...that it is more lucrative for DCL to offer the larger capacity on the 3/4 day cruises as they can charge more than what a 7 day would cost. I hope that made sense. My fingers don't always move as fast as my brain.
My guess is that Captain Tom will be getting the Disney Fantasy when she launches 1st Qtr of 2012.

Yeah, I was ready to book Port Orleans Riverside, but I put a lot on the CC this month. (airfare, yankees season tickets, and business related stuff).
It will be a busy few months in cruise planning. The next thing we are getting are passports, then MNSSHP tickets, then Port Orleans room ressies. By the time June comes along we will be looking at final payment and excursion ressies in the not so distant future.

It sounds like it will be sooner than June/July. The Port lease starts 1/1/2011. It is expected that the Wonder will transition during the first quarter of 2011 when the Dream is delivered and begins scheduled 3/4 day cruises out of Port Canaveral.

I can see that. The meaning is that if you add the cost of a 3 night cruise to the 4 night cruise you will come up with a total that is more than a 7 nt cruise. Besides, turning over a new group twice a week as opposed to once a week means more add-on sales such as insurance, transfers, souveniers, etc. It actually makes perfect economic sense. I'm surprised I didn't think of it.

Well even if it is earlier, I encourage anyone to do the PC cruise if they get the chance. Probably the last one for awhile since the newer ships won't fit through the canal until the new section is done. Depending on cost I wonder if Sean and I could sneak a sail....hmmmmm:rolleyes1 (doubt it :sad2:)

I heard a funny story that Joe Torre told. He was on his annual vacation to Hawaii during the month of January in 2005. Those of you remember that is just 3 months after the Sox won their first world series in a long time and they beat the Yankees to get there. Joe said that Sox fans were teasing him left and right and that he never saw so many red sox hats/t shirts etc. He said when they would tease him he would say, "what, you haven't taken a vacation in 86 years either?" :lmao:

Customers who buy a five-night/six-day room and theme park ticket package for stays between Aug. 16 and Oct. 3 will receive meals as part of the deal.
The incentive offers one quick-service meal, one snack and one table-service meal at the more than 100 restaurants for each night of the package. Reservations must be made by June 21. The dining program is the latest deal being by Disney, and other area attractions, to boost business. Smith Travel Research reported March 23 that the February occupancy rate of Orlando area hotels dropped nearly 12.5 percent from February 2008 to 65.9 percent last month. February is generally one of the strongest months for the area's hotels. A year earlier, 75.3 percent of rooms were occupied. The numbers do not include hotels on Disney property.

What a cute son you have Chris, looks like he had a great birthday too.
Neil is standing behind me getting on my nerves. He always noses over my shoulder while I'm on here.
Yep..know what you mean. Rick always says....what's happening?

Thanks. He is a character. Some of you will see him doing his thing in the pool at the Radisson on Friday 10/23. He hangs out on the steps and usually doesn't venture far from them. We are hoping he is more comfortable in the water by the time the cruise comes. We are spending a week at Elaine's Uncle's house in Georgia in July. He has a very nice inground pool, so I am hoping,
1) that Samantha actually learns how to swim that week. She pretty much has the concept but isn't quite comfortable. At CC the last cruise, she was doggypaddling between us in 5 ft of water, but was nervous.
And...
2) That Jay overcomes some of his anxiety in the water and ventures away from the steps. Perhaps with some help, I can get him swimming that week as well.

I was never really a taco fan, but I think I am converting. :goodvibes Elaine wanted tacos tonight since we have some of the teens here. They help her with the After School Program, then eat with us, then go to youth programs.

Exactly! Actually, this season could be really interesting with the Yankees, Sox and Rays in the same division. One of them won't make the playoffs despite being the best 3 teams in baseball...at least on paper.

Maybe I can get an LO ( opposite of FO) for this thread - except I'm leaving shortly for the Y for water aerobics. I'll check when I get home though.

Our Y just announced they were closing the end of April. The city is trying to figure out a way to keep open. I am involved in the process with City Hall. It should be interesting, but there are serious changes that need to be made.
