I love my garden. I'll bet you do, too. We spend alot of time in it....maybe too much according to some. But it's worth it.
I have poison ivy......again. I get it from regular, plain ole, garden-variety ivy. Yes, I'm THAT allergic..... I just snipped 5 or 6 pieces off my fence 2 days ago....and voila! I've been poisoned. And itchy. And bumpy. And red.
This one for me is bad. It's a contact allergy I can't control. So today, DH, armed with the electric hedge trimmers, will be out there doing battle with the ivy. Again.
Which brings me to the subject of this thread. Garden allergies.
Do you have any? Do you sneeze when you mow grass? Itch when you touch a new plant? Do your eyes water at the heavenly smells your plants produce?
Or are you allergy free......lucky you.....
:)
Oh Gina so sorry to hear you have posion ivy, again. I do not get this nasty stuff. Although one of my daughters growing up would would always have it. If she looked at it she would be swollen for a week.
Sending you some special Pixie Dust for the itch and hope you are better soon.

You poor Bud! :( I promise , I won't say it......it's killing me, but I won't say it......;) Feel better soon!! :)
No garden allergies that I know of, but I am allergic to Scotch Pine trees, or more specifically the sap. They're my favourite tree for Christmas, so I wear gloves and a long sleeve shirt when I decorate one. :)

Yikes! Gina I hope you heal up quickly and the itching is minimal.
I really don't think I have a specific plant allergy... but I did manage to get into something last spring while up at my folks place... and it turned into a nasty mess - required the doctor to prescribe some steroids and antibiotics to clear up. YUCK! Didn't help that I itched at it.

Gina,
Sorry about your poison ivy woes... I have the same problem. Last week even being covered head to toe, I still managed to get it-( I even showered coming right in from the garden!!) There is an OTC itch control called Reuli gel that is supposed to be effective. I've tried most things and usually have to wait weeks (even with steroids) for it to clear up. Hope it passes soon.

Poison oak and Poison Ivy....HIGHLY ALLERGIC, finishing up on my 2nd big reaction of the year and starting a small 3rd reaction. Even if I don't touch the stuff and just hoe I still will have a reaction. I have a reaction if someone is burning these items and the smoke touches my skin. My best remedy is Clorox...if I catch it soon enough.
I also get a runny nose when outside if the mold count is up...if it is really up I sneeze me head off and breathing is a chore. This just started this year.

Gina, I can symphatize with you. I also have it again, but just a small patch on my wrist.
Last summer I had it from ankle to hip and ended up getting 3 separate shots trying to clear it up. I'm being very careful, but it would help immensely if I knew which plant it is. I've just been avoiding all 3 leaf plants.

Well, at least I'm not the only one!
I get poison ivy from regular old fashioned ivy. And my yard is full of it. My husband can cut, clean and sweep it up with no problems....not me. My skin goes ballistic.
I only had a bit on my arm this time, too, Sandi. I'm just worried because I know it's the beginning of the season. I'm usually careful enough to avoid it til the END of the season. Lucky me.....
Oh, believe....I'm with you on the Clorox. My demotologist told me to leap into the pool if I suspect I've been infected. The chlorine kills everything.
