Arlen Miller's newsletter is reporting that Guest Information and Public Internet Access Devices are now being installed at the Magic Kingdom. These are touch screen multimedia devices available for Guests to gain access to WDW information, check their e-mail and browse the web; to include Disney World.com. Guests can also use the device to directly call and speak with WDW Guest Services, Recreation Services, and/or Dining Services representatives via a touch screen speed dial button located on the device. 8 Device locations, spread out in public payphone banks throughout the park, were installed on 5/23, and all others will be complete by 6/1.

What do you think these things will be like? Pay per time or pay just a one time fee or what? Also do you think that they will be expensive. I could probably spend around 30 min a day just checking up on things. Also do you think that there will be many restrictions on these. You can even check your e-mail on the ones in Innoventions. I know that no one may have any info yet but I am very curious :-)

I was looking on a different web site and they indicated that you would be charged .25 a minute for internet use. That works out to 7.50 for a half hour.

Thanks for the info. I dont mind paying that if there aren't many restrictions. I dont expect it to let us on porn sites but I would like to be able to check my Yahoo e-mail and keep up with all of my Disney World, DVD, sports, and movie sites. Yet I do realize that the internet has alot of bad things on it and I know that they have to protect their guests as best as they can but I am really hoping that the restrictions will be minimal. But I am not getting my hopes up.

Dw, Dd's and I were at WDW last week and I spotted these terminals in MGM (behind the old Doug Theatre) and Epcot (Can't remember the location). They are basically AT&T sanctioned phones that for $.25 / minute you can surf anywhere on the internet. I did not try one because I pledged to my family to stay off of the Internet during this trip and did not even take along my work laptop.
So I can confirm that they exist and how much the charge is but have no reference as to how well they work.
