Canadian Disney Store 7 day base ticket

Anyone try adding extra days to your passes bought at par? Was there any problems upgrading the Canadian bought pass from a 7 day to a 9 or 10 day pass?

I just pulled out my passes purchased at the Dinsey Store in Toronto. Oddly enough, there is absolutely NO REFERENCE to them being pruchased in Canada or with Canadian Funds. There is no price on the ticket. I also noticed that the price of the Canadian passes is the exact same price as the US tickets - but in Canadian - so essentially at par! Therefore I am guessing you can change this pass to be whatever you want provided it is within 14 days of first use.

I have heard a number of people comment that they bought child passes and upgraded to adult when they got to the parks.

I've heard of this as well but I can't for the life of me understand why. You would have to pay for it in US dollars. Therefore costing you more than if you bought the adult pass at the DS.

We did this in Dec08. We bought base 7d passes at the Disney store in Dart NS and upgraded them to 10 PH passes when we got there. No problems.

Just make sure you use the ticket before you upgrade them. This locks in the current Disney price for the 7d base ticket in US$ and that is the value you are credited for when you upgrade. They will still be valid 14 days from first use (original day when you first used them, not the day of upgrade if it is later).

The best thing about this, we paid CDN dollars for the original tickets, the same price as the US$ price, this is a big discount. So don't worry about what kind of ticket the store has in stock, just buy one as close to what you want as possible and then upgrade when you get there.

It will be the exact same as Disney is selling them for. DS only sells 3 day, 5 day and 7 day - base, hopper,no expiry and plus options ...

So we got 5 day base with plus options for $289 - exact same price as US price for that ticket.

The reason Canadians were buying child tickets and upgrading is becuase at Christmas they had run out of adult tickets so they only had child ones left - this is what I understood.

The DS at Fairview Mall had TONS 2 weeks ago.

No ...to get the dining plan you must buy a package from Disney. A package is hotel and tickets. You are then able to add the DDP if you want.

Sorry - another question - where do we find the info on buying the DS tix at par? I was just at the Vaughan mills DS this week but guess I did not look at the tix sign closely enough to catch the "at par" part!

We will have our tix w/ our room pkg but need to get a sep. ticket for DNiece. TIA!

There is no 'at par' deal. It's just that the price, in CAD, was the same as the price at WDW. It is no longer the same but it's close, still much better than the actual exchange rate(Friday close 1.31).

I was at Vaughn Mills today and grabbed the brochure. Prices are:

3 day base, adult $225.78 CAD.........gate price $212 USD
5 day base, adult $236.43 CAD.........gate price $222 USD
7 day base, adult $242.82 CAD.........gate price $228 USD

5 day hopper, adult $289.68 CAD......gate $272 USD
7 day hopper, adult $296.07 CAD......gate $278 USD

5 day WP&M, adult $289.70 CAD.......gate $322 USD
7 day WP&M, adult $296.08 CAD.......gate $328 USD

Correct me if I am wrong my fellow disers, but you only need to buy one pass to the parks to add the dining to your entire stay. I am pretty certain in the long run it will be cheaper to buy it al through WDW, but thought I would mention that if you wanted the dining plan, but wasn't doing parks everyday, I believe you can just get one park day to qualify for the dining plan for as many days as your stay (but then you would be stuck eating at resorts and DTD).

I also know you have to buy the dining plan for all of the days of your stay and for all people in your party - can't do a half and half thing. This is why some people do a split stay - switch resorts half way through their vacation - so they can add the dining to a portion of their stay I think.

Thank you for your responses. This is what I thought regarding package and DDP. I was hoping to find away to save money esp with the dollar.
Our trips have all been packages- first one was with a TA, second we boked ourselves thru disney. I preferred booking it ourselves.

Yep....you only need to buy a one day ticket to add the dining plan to your ressie.

Sometime the adult pass is not available at the DS and by buying the child passes in canadian fund and do the upgrade at guess relation, you still save a bit on the exchange since the cost of the child pass is in Canadian fund and you only pay the differences in US fund for the upgrade portion.

We did just that for our DD (5)'s pass this past Christmas trip. We bought a 7days hopper child pass at the local DS and upgraded it to an annual pass at guess relation. We had to show the CM our DVC membership and photo ID in order to get the DVC discount. I believe our upgarde cost was about $80 USD.

I just reply you from your other post. But I didn't know you already have the annual passes. The Annual passes renewal for a DVC member is $360 US. I would buy your tickets at the Disney store in CDN funds and do the upgrade when you get there. I hope my example below make sense to you.

Renew pass at WDW $360 US = 460 CDN
Upgrage from Pass bought at DS (per your other post) $349 CDN (ticket value $328 US) + your upgrade cost should be about $32 US ( $41 Cdn) Total $ 390 CDN. So in the end you should save $70 per annual pass renewal.

I can't imagine buying tickets at the Disney Store. With the 4/3 promotion currently running until August 15th and whatever deal is likely to be offered for September/October, buying a Disney package seems the way to go.

Of course, this doesn't apply if you are staying offsite, but I can't imagine that either. My kids would probably leave home. Heck, so would I. :rotfl2:

I think this is a great idea for all those that are staying DVC.
Does anyone know if Barrie still has a Disney Store? Im in London and oddly enough we have never had one here, so Ill have to see if my parents can pick up a 7 day pass for me.

With the exception of DVC owners you have to have a Magic Your Way Package to get the Dining Plan, however you only have to get a one day base ticket with that package, so if it works out cheaper to buy a parkhopper at the Disney Store in Canada, then go for it. You are right, Everyone on the reservation must have the same entitlements, all must have same kind of ticket, all must have same kind of dining plan. The actual room rate will be rack rate so you cannot use an AP discount or CAA discount.

It is sometimes well worth the time to sit down and calculate all the different scenarios. There are some great discounts out there for rooms right now, so if you don't need the dining plan there are sure more economical ways to do it.
