After looking at CRT's lunch menu, there is nothing that my 12-year old will eat. I have seen many other DISers say that anyone can order off the child's menu, so I thought I would pay out of pocket for his meal which would be a child's meal, and use DDP for mine. When I called today to make another ressie for the 2 TS credits I was going to use to pay for his meal, the CM I talked to wasn't sure I could do this and said it would be up to each individual restaurant. Our CRT ressie is the last of our trip, so now I'm wondering should I call CRT and ask them, go ahead and cancel one of our other ressie's and use my 2 TS credits on his meal at CRT or what? Any ideas?
Thanks-

Since CRT is a "fixed price" meal, I can totally see that while DS12 could order from the kid's menu, that he'd still be treated as an adult for billing.

Not certain I would expect that to be true, but it could easily be the "ruling".

Is it allowed to pay for his meal- adult priced and then use TS credits from mine? I will only have 2 left by the time we eat at CRTs unless I cancel one of our other ressie's? I've been doing the math on the cost if we were to pay out of pocket for one of our other meals and this one is the one I would want to pay for.

we were at the Shudders resturant in Caribean Resort (which I do not recommed to anyone) well my son who was 16 did not like anything on the menu and we were allowed to get him a childs dinner and we were on the free dining. As to the resturant my husband and son wore their soda as the waiter lost control of the tray:scared1: meals were sent back and we were there for a very long time. I would not recommend this to anyone.

I can't imagine that they would force you to use your TS credits. It is up to you the way that you configure their use. If you're unsure, give CRT a call, but I'm pretty sure you'll be able to pay OOP for the child's meal.

As posted earlier, you can certainly pay OOP for your son and he can eat children't food, BUT you will be charged ADULT prices for him. He is an adult and will be charged as one no matter what he eats. This is a set price restraurant and he falls within the adult criteria. It's the same as buffet dining prices. However, if you go to a TS location that is menu based, he can then choose a child's meal and pay that price.

For the purposes of Disney restaurant dining a 12 year old is considered an "adult," so you will be using adult credits for him no matter what he eats. If you pay OOP, a fixed price venue like CRT will not permit your son to pay the child's price for his meal.

If he won't eat anything off the adult menu you might be able to get the child's menu food for him, but pay the adult price.

TD....just curious, if Chesire Cat was able to get child menu food for adult price do you think they would give adult portion? I also have a 12 yr old ds that eats like a 5yr old. Also I wonder why disney does not have jr ddp price for kids 10-16?????? :confused3

I wouldn't have any idea about the portions. That would have to be asked at the restaurant.

Disney tickets and dining, whether you use package reservations and DDP or whether you don't, are geared to two categories: age 3-9 and age 10 and up. Only resorts have a junior category - and it is to distinguish those on a resort reservation who are not in the child ticket/dining category and are still too young to trigger the extra adult charge for a resort room.
