HEllO! I'm glad to "sea" this thread finally got started! I tried a month or so ago..but, I wasn't clear on the "how to's...so, my post never made it under our sail date! :lmao:

I'm sailing too! :cool1: :goodvibes This will be #8 for me on The Wonder! I'll be traveling with my DD 14 (the last day of the cruise) and DTD&S 10. I'm also bringing along a couple of friends....we have 4 staterooms total...and I'm hoping for a couple more to join us.

I did the FE for the first time last year on our cruise the first of Dec...it was great! My kids especially loved it! They have been so use to helping me give out random acts of Disney kindness..that to receive something was a great surprise!

DM and I are hoping to book this cruise, using our bounce back offer from our spring 4 day wonder cruise. Will know for sure come April 6th when we are allowed to book. She needs a Cat 8 hcp, since that is the category we book for the offer for, since there are only 2 rooms, it is a long shot. Fingers crossed.

Hello all-
This will be my family's first cruise. We are doing the Land/Sea package. I have been reading the different posts and keep seeing "FE" and I have no idea of what it stands for or what needs to be done. :confused3 Could someone please help out a "Newbie"? Thanks!!! :goodvibes

"FE" stands for fish extender..the fish is outside the cabin doors and u hang your FE on it. You can join a group here of those joining and you give and receive gifts during the cruise. It's fun!!!

hiya gang.

We're now officially signed up for this one.

There's me (dad), DW, DD17, and DS 14.

My Brother's family is also coming with his DW, DS14, and DS 9.
So there's 8 of us total.

I'm sure my brother will make his way in here soon.

The FE's sound like fun. Count us in! :thumbsup2

Here are some quick links on the lore of Fish Extenders.

What they can look like, Original style (http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=14437901&postcount=2)
bought from ebay or made by fellow diser (http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=14928461&postcount=14) (good searches include; Mickey Pockets or
Fish Extender)
Homemade (http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=18177280&postcount=27)
No sew instructions (http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=30302583&postcount=609)

The Fish extender, original purpose was to accept all the treats/gifts dis'ers were giving each other during a Panama Canal cruise. Nothing to do with DCL at all.

The Fish..near your door, the permanent thing is to accept mail from DCL (notes and such).

epcotkilterfan found those wonderful mickey hanger with pockets and thought it would be cool, since so many people were bringing gifts, the Dis'ers needed more room than just the fish to deliver them to. She was right...the cruise was like Christmas morning, every day..lol.

Now many cruise meet groups decided to have FE exchanges. I have a great Tinkerbell FE, it is bright lime green, lol. I have done magnets, lollipops with a souvenir pillowbox, on a longer cruise a group of us (13) got together and had mouse-pads made up (there were 103 families cruising) and we gave 1/family. I can be something small indicative of your local region, I got a moon pie once, and candy from speciality companies, lip balm, highlighters, customized silicone bracelets, personalized pen/pencils, pirate stuff, mixed CDs and cruise themed bookmarks. No matter how big or small, always a treat to find a surprise in our FE.

Now I will sign off, until Monday when I actually have the cruise booked. Called DVC today and they had no clue what I was talking about,.

HI everyone :wave2:
Well, I just booked this cruise this morning so I could take some time to decide. I was afraid that the ship would book up because of the bounceback offers. I got in on a cat 12 (thought we might try it :confused3) since it was only a 3 nighter for $672 for 2 adults. Now if I can just get over the guilt of leaving the kids behind. :rolleyes1 I really am having a hard time leaving them behind since they love disney as much as I do. They are 13 and 16 right now. I just wanted a quick getaway for DH and I. We have NEVER left them for a getaway. I just cannot afford to take all 4 of us this year. Besides, I told older DD that I would take her and BFFL to WDW for a week after she graduates in 2010 and we have a family cruise booked for Oct 2010. So they'll get to go twice in 2010. anyway, provided we follow thru and go, I definitely want to do the FE. :thumbsup2 We had a blast doing this on our last cruise in Oct 2008. :woohoo: Hopefully, we have great participation! :yay:
Looking forward to talking to you all again soon! :goodvibes

Booked for sure, let the fun begin. We are SR 6000, all the way forward, cat 8 HCP, big room, but no sofa.

Is anyone combining this with a stay at WDW before or after. We were able to book at Bay Lake Tower for 4 nights before hand.

Now the big decision, town car, bus or rental car for transportation to the Port and back, hmm...

I booked this cruise for DW, DS and I a few weeks ago in Cat 12. And tonight added another cabin for my mom and dad.

I expect to see alot of cruisers from NJ as this is NJ Teachers' Convention weekend and see a few already posting to this thread.

Looking forward to a great time. :thumbsup2

How's the swimming everywhere (pools, beaches) during early November?

Cool, We're on the same deck. This is our first cruise, as well as my brother and his family's first cruise, and all we could swing ($$$) this time was a cat 11. But hey, we figure get us on the ship, we pretty much just need the room to sleep and shower, esp on a 3 day lol.

So My family and I are in 6069, and My brother and his family are in 6071. Midship.

Exactly. Brother's wife is a Teacher and my wife is a T.A, and thats exactly why we chose this week.

We have gone to WDW several times before during "jersey week" (the people at the hotel, and several cm's in the park actually called it that lol) and had a great time.

We're looking forward to this one as none of our group has ever cruised before on disney, and my wife is the only one who has ever been on a cruise ship (and only once) before and that was NCL when she was about 13. So we are all excited to not only cruise, but get a little mickey time in as well. :thumbsup2

HI! I had started a November 5th thread along time ago (http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2026852), but I guess this one got picked up (or was here and I didn't see it). No one ever came to my thread so I thought I was cruising alone! LOL Count me in for the FE ! My name is Lisa and My Husband's name is Pete. We got married on Nov. 4th on the Disney Wonder in 2008 on Castaway Cay and we are heading back for a Anniversary Trip. We are being joined my by Sister, Laura, Brother in Law, Brandon and my Adorable Niece Alyssa who will be 2 months shy of two years old when we sail. I look forward to meeting you guys! This is going to be great!

Thanks for all the insight on the FE's. Are gifts given on each day of the cruise or is it just a one time deal?

A side note...
My DW found out that her boss will be on the same cruise as us. Her boss is a DVC member and is often doing some type of Disney vacation. When they both found out that they will be on board at the same time, my DW's boss said that her boys would show my boys the ropes and keep them busy with all the activities. I sure am glad that my DW gets along with her boss! LOL!:)

The Last Time we sailed we each gave gifts one night of the cruise. Since this is a short 3 day cruise I think that would work good for us. Do you all agree, one hand out per cabin?

Can the OP start a running list on the first post with Cabin No. and Names of people playing along?

Oh my gosh, I love the door magnets and the fish extenders! :goodvibes As you might could tell by my profile picture, I like fun pictures (the goat was one of my son's facebook profile pictures for a while - it's so offbeat I can't help but smile every time I see it). Thank you for showing me such wonderful examples of what a Disney Cruise door can look like all dressed up. What fun! I'll start working on it in 2 weeks - first I get to watch my oldest graduate from college, and then I'm going to Disney World for a few days as a last min. get-a-way. I am so looking forward to my first Disney Cruise - arrrg maties!pirate:

Add us to the list of Jersey Girls on the cruise!

My daughter and son in law recently returned from their Disney Honeymoon, part theme park followed by the 7 day cruise. They received a bounceback offer for the Nov 5th cruise for $99 per person for a cat 6 with verandah cabin..

My son in law is letting me go in his place (I think he is saving his vacation for Phillies spring training)

A friend of mine is coming along with her adult daughter, so we have 2 Moms (both widows) and 2 Daughters (both adults) cruising. We have two cabins midship on deck six.
Deb (that's me) age 52
LoriBeth (my daughter) age 35
Kathy age 50
Emily age 22

Looking forward to the Spa, adult pool and Serenity Beach on Castaway Cay!

Welcome Kchat393!

I was able to book our flight down to orlando today, we love Jetblue and from BUF it has non-stops. We grabbed a non-stop flight for $75@, the return half was at $124 right now, I will wait and keep an eye on this part. Even with a price drop credit, I don't know when we will be traveling Jetblue again, so best not to be stuck with an unusable credit.

Just wanted to give anyone going from the NJ/Philly area a head's up about a real airfare bargain that I found today. From PHL to MCO was $59 each way. I've never booked a flight to Orlando for that little. Very surprised :woohoo: to see that fare, being as it is the heavily traveled NJ teachers' convention holiday.

Hopefully this info will be helpful to some, and the fares will still be available to those interested and in need.

DM and I will do FE as well, we are in 6000, cat 8 all the way forward.

Some of us booked actually rooms, other would have book GTY rooms, perhaps hoping for an upgrade. It is easier for DCL to upgrade you as a GTY, but they could upgrade anyone. We had to book an actual room, as DM needs a HCP room.

Okay, I've been watching this thread for awhile and I am very hesitant about joining in on the FE and Magnet exchange thingy. I'm not too sure how it works but if someone can explain, I'm all in.

Do you give something to everyone on the list every night of the cruise or just one night? Or are two cruisers paired up with eachother cruiser for a swap? Sorry, I'm so confused

For the magnets can I design my own or do you have to use one from the threads on this board?

Oh also, Does anyone have directions for the fish extender with pictures? I'm a little sewing challenged.....LOL Maybe I can pay someone to make me one hahahahaha

I tend to do a family gift or if the cabin indicates it is single cruising together, I do one for each of them. Last cruise I did homemade pillow gift boxes, with Laura Secord (Canadian Candy company) lollipops for each cruiser. I passed out just once, as did each of the other participants.

I have been on cruises where the DIS group did the one to one exchange they called it a "Secret Mickey" exchange.

Magnets ~ I make my own using Photoshop (use to use Word), and have hundreds of blank backgrounds that I will share, just let me know what theme/character you are interested in.

Fish Extender ~ sewing instructions here (http://idisk.mac.com/pdegeer-Public?view=web) Open the DCL items folder and download the instructions. I had mine made for me, it is lime green with a Tink theme, then I made iron-ons to add to it.

Any other questions please post, we will all try to help.

Hello everyone, I've been reading everything and trying to learn how to do this. Here goes....my husband Stan and myself, Pam can hardly wait to get to Florida. I've been 4 times previously but my husband has never been. We are celebrating our belated honeymoon . We are doing the Land/Cruise package. I been reading about the FE and would love to participate. All the abbreviations I've been seeing are a bit confusing to me, I feel like a computer illiterate, yet I work on a computer at my job. I have a few questions for the veterans. When they have formal night is it really neccesary for the men to wear a suit coat and tie or will a tie be OK. I'm trying to pack as light as can be and for one dinner it's just not worth it. The ship comes back into Cape Canaveral at 7:30 am, we will be getting a ride back to the airport, does anyone know the approx. time we will get back to the airport? I've read that soda will cost you, do they have bottled water and does that cost you. I think it's kind of funny that the food is included, yet soda is not  Like some of you others....I CAN'T WAIT! I am driving my husband nuts. I am working on my FE this week and gifts. I keep listening to the new song by :rolleyes1 Lionel Richie...Just Go I wish we could just go now and sail to the Bahamas!:cool1:

Are you doing a 7 night cruise or a 3 or 4. A Tie only is more then fine for a 3 or 4. They get a bit more dressy for he 7, but still just a tie will be perfectly fine.

Disney and me as a travel agent recomend that your homeward bound flight not be before noon. The reason being is that it takes a bit over an hour to get to the airport, but that is if there is NO delay getting off the ship. There is always a chance customs will hold up the entire ship.

Soda....It is included during meals and there is a soda station on deck where it is free all day. The only time you have to pay for soda is if you order it from a bar or a waitress.

Bottled water is expensive! The water they serve at meals is filtered and tastes just fine. That is what I drink 99% of the time.

Anyother questions ask away!

Thanks for the info, my husband is a Diet Coke-aholic, he'll be happy to know he can still have his soda without paying big bucks for it. His luck is they only have Pepsi products! I'm the water drinker, I'll be the one to suffer, or end up drinking soda. I'm glad the tie will be enough, it's not worth using up valuable luggage space for a suit coat, I'll need the room for the FE gifts
We are doing the land/sea deal, but we are not flying back home on Sunday, it was cheaper for us to stay another day and fly home on Monday. I just needed to have an idea on the time because once back at the airport we need to get a ride to another hotel. This way I can tell them to pick us up around 1-2pm to be safe.

Goldeelox9
08-17-2009, 09:06 PM
That sucks....Where are you staying Sunday night? You can try to get Disney to take you to a hotel instead of the airport...or you can hire a car to pick you up at the post and go right to your hotel. I have a number and email of a great company. I am using them to get to the port from Saratoga Springs. You can cancel the transfers to the airport. You don't want to sit around the airport and waste all that time. Did you book through Disney or a Travel Agent?

The water is fine and the tea is good too. I am not a soda drinker, but never had any problems.

We have a reservation at the Clarion Resort Waterpark in Kissimmee that Sunday. We can't check in until after 12pm, so we will need to kill some time that morning before arriving. Question.....without spending to much $$$, what's some of the best things to do in Nassua?

HI there.
Checking in to see if the thread was finally starting to take off. It appears that it is. :yay: I guess because we are hitting that 75 day mark.
Anyway Meredisney, I'm Lynn, DH is Tom, and we are celebrating our 21st Wedding anniversary while on board. If you could add that to the spreadsheet the next time you update it. thanks so much.
BTW, the spreadsheet is actually kinda tiny. Not complaining but found it ironic when you were apoligizing for it being so big. :rotfl:

Hey there Lisa,
do you know when we will find out room #'s? Last time we went we preselected our cabin so we knew it right away. This is our first time of doing a cat 12, so I'm a newbie at this part.
thanks.

BTW, are you flying home on Sunday? I was looking at the rates. :scared1: I know we are waiting until Mon. I already told DH to take off the 9th too. We're going back to POP for an extra day. Do you use SW? I'm figuring that's how we are going/coming again this trip. ;)
Can't wait to run into you guys on board again this trip. We'll have to see if we can 'run' into you more than last time. What was it 4 or 5 times? :goodvibes

Hey Lynn!

How are you! It will be harder to spot us this time since I won't have on a wedding dress or Minnie Bride ears the whole time. LOL

We are flying home Airtran. We are flying to FL Southwest though. $59 to FL and $129 home! I booked my Dad's flight (last minute kinda guy) last week and our flight was up to $249....I booked him one for a bit later and it was like $149, then I called and switched him to our flight.

We will have to try to run into each other more! LOL We are Cat. 12's too. They usually assign rooms 45-30 days before the cruise, but I have heard of it being a bit earlier or sometimes not until like 10 days before hand. I will go nuts if it takes that long! LOL

Meredisney thanks for getting us organized. My planning has come to a screeching halt now that school has started. I was checking our SW flights from Albuquerque hoping to save a buck and realized I had booked our return flight for the wrong day!!! Yikes . Thank goodness I found it now! Fixing my little mistake cost an extra $120 - Bummer. Our crew is Me (Jen - NMMickeymom), DH, DD8 and DD6 in 6026, Grandparents in 6028, and our Goddaughter 22 and Bo in 6030. Hey Lisa,
We're leaving on the 30th too. :rotfl:
who are you flying with? We're on SW and leave around 3:50 I believe. That way I'll only need to p/u the girls about 1 hr early from school around 1pm. I got $48 tickets for direct flights w/ a SW code that a SW employee on the Transportation board gave to me. WooHoo.
One of friends that I also met here on the boards (she lives about 1.5 miles away from me) is also leaving on the 30th. MY older DD BBFL's family is going to WDW at the same time too. Not sure though if they are leaving on the 30th or 31st though. And DD BBFL's sister's BFFL who also lives in our neighborhood is headed there at the same time.
Oh yeah, another guy from my DH's men's church group... he and his family are on the same cruise as us. Seems like tons of people we know are all going to WDW at the same time. :lmao: Must be the place to be!
That would be quite funny if we were on the same flight. Nobody I know is on our flight yet though.
Next week I plan on spending some time working on my FE gifts. BTW, when are we going to close it off so we can complete the list? 49 days, WooHoo!!!

Bummer about coming home AirTran, I could've given you a rewards code but you have to buy a R/T ticket w/ SW. :sad1: Did you do the sunshine rewards email code for the $25 off of each ticket for your AirTran flight?
Welllll..... My IL's moved to FL back in June. The girls don't know that they are going to WDW this year. We're going to the parks from the 30th to the 4th and on the 5th DH's parents are driving over to stay w/ the girls at WDW while we cruise. :goodvibes Sooo the girls are going to have 10 possibly 11 days to go to the parks. If I can earn enough $$ between now and then, I want to buy APs for the girls and myself as we are going back in June after Amanda's graduation. I won't let her go to OC MD for Senior Week :scared1: she'll still only be 17. So my compromise was that she and a friend of our choosing ;) could go to WDW for a week. Of course, Ashleigh will be attending too to keep me company as DH will have to stay home and work. :rolleyes1 So if I can get APs for this trip, that will significantly cut the cost of June '10's trip. I've been selling stuff on Craigslist and have made about $350. I have a ton of stuff at a consignment sale this weekend and am hoping to clear at least a couple 100 there. Got a couple of yard sales in the works and am looking at finally breaking down and listing some of my better stuff that I want to get rid of on ebay. I have a ton of girl's boutique clothing that I would like to get rid of and make some $$ on in the process. Wish me luck.
It's been tough keeping this a secret from them. LOL I had a list of some ADRs (I thought I had put them away better, but I guess not) and they were looking at the dates and were like 'Hey are we going to WDW?' I responded, 'and why would you ask me that?' Amanda said, 'Well we found a list of ADRs for this year...' I said, 'Oh I am helping someone plan a trip.' Didn't tell them it was me that I was helping. Anyway, I AM hoping that they will have fun w/ the Grandparents. Hopefully.....they will. It's a wierd relationship there, too long to post. Ashleigh has been bugging me to have a Bday party this year. Well she's going to be in WDW for her actual Bday and we'll still be there w/ her. She wants a Halloween costume style Bday party on Fri the 30th but We're leaving that day, but SHE doesn't know that. She's very frustrated w/ me over this because I told her last year she could have a party this year. Well I was hoping to have it when we get back. But she doesn't know that she won't be here for 11 days. Uggghhh.
kids. :sad2: I'm so excited that she will get that Bday gift card. She doesn't really spend hardly any money and since the Gparents will be here w/ them some, I figure they'll probably dump at least a little bit of money on them since they don't really do very much w/ them. So, I'm going to offer to buy it from her for cash (good anywhere incl Old Navy her fav store) for a reduced price. LOL Or I figure if she doesn't want to sell it, I suspect she will use it to do some Cmas shopping (for her Mommy ;)) I'm getting so excited! Can you tell? :dance3:

If you don't like the flight airtran changed you to you can call them and tell them it doesn't work for you and if you have a flight you would rather be on they will switch you for free since they changed your original flight!

I took your advice and called. We got our tixs through Expedia, so I had to call them. Called Thursday and was on the phone over an hour. After being on hold 5 times he came back and said AirTran was having difficulty with their computer system and I would have to call back in 4 or more hours. Frustrated, I waited until Friday to call back. Same thing happened again after 53 minutes. They were having trouble confirming the new flight and I was told a supervisor would call me back to confirm the flight within an hour. Didn't get a call so I was going to call again today but decided to check my itinerary online and it was changed to the newer flight and confirmed. Now we will arrive at 11am instead of 8:38pm on Halloween. I originally wanted that flight but the cost was $189 one-way each. I took the later flight because it was non-stop and cost only $79. Now, because of your advice I got the best flight for the lowest fair. Thanks a bunch :worship: Now we will have plenty of time to check out the hotel and go to the Disney Marketplace and maybe Boardwalk before we hit the parks on Sunday. WELCOME!!!!

I don't know if the FE is still open, but I have done 6 cruises and have received a wide variety of items. Lip balm, mixed CDs (not sure if these are legal, most likely not, but great memories are always linked to music,) unique sweets from the cruisers city/town/state/country, bandanas, mousepad, magnets, keychains, pirate themed items on longer cruises, pens, pencils, highlighters, notepads, bookmarks, etc. Some are personalized with cruise info, like date. Many are made items, which is very cool.

The next question, do you do for each family or each cabin or for each cruiser. Depends on what you are interested in sharing, I tend to do one for each family, less to bring along, but I make it something that can be shared

My B-Day is on 11/3. We will be doing quite a bit for my B-day this year...you only hit 30 once (then you start counting backwards, right?). We'll be going for our first trip to Universal/IOA on 11/1 & 2, checking into Beach Club Villas on the 2nd and checking out on the 5th, then taking the cruise. We're looking forward to the trip very much, and now we are working on ideas for FE gifts. DW created ours yesterday (with some minor creative input from me) as I watched my Steelers loose. I've been charrrrrged with thinking of gifts for the FE and I think we've got a good start...just a few other things we need to round out the gifts.

Can't wait for Halloween Eve (my last day of work prior to the tirp),

My B-Day is on 11/3. We will be doing quite a bit for my B-day this year...you only hit 30 once (then you start counting backwards, right?). I know exactly what you mean...this year I will be celebrating all week for mine! It's actually on 11/10 but we're doing the cruise first and then hitting the parks for the following week. I'll be 40!!!:scared1: Who said that?!?! And yes I do count backwards!! HAHAHA :rotfl2:

I see you are in Jackson. So how close are you to Great Adventure? We used to go there years ago. We loved that park and esp the Safari w/ the monkeys climbing all over everything. :lmao:
Once we got stuck on the incline of the great american scream machine for about 40 min. They were getting ready to think about unloading us from the cars, but then decided they were able to fix it to get the coaster to finish it's run. what an experience. To me, the only bad part was we were in the direct sun w/ no shade or drinks and it was HOT!!!! But we survived to talk about it years later. :rolleyes1

2. Is the Fish Extender list now final?
3. When will we find the room numbers for everyone on the list?
4. Which night/s? will we be doing the gift exchange??

As far as what night we do the gifts, I pretty much thought we could do them as we pleased over the course of the cruise. If that isn't the way it is typically done, feel free to correct me. Our FE gifts are coming together quite nicely, and we're realllllly looking forward to the cruise.pirate:pirate:pirate:

Urusla, that is what DCL calls the ticket printing machine in Celebration at the main office(honest), should be printing our tickets late this week. Anyone in Europe will be sent late this week, Canadians mid next week (fedex), and US travelers end of next week, early the week after (ups). At least that has been the generally pattern in the past. They will have have rooms assigned for the printing, doesn't mean they can't change after that, but at least you will have some idea, soon.

We too like the idea of posting a picture. Here's one of DW (TiffanyD) & I (schimj). I think this is outside AKL-Kidani on our June '09 birthday trip for DW & her mother.

Well, there will be a pic. I just need to work out how to code it correctly. Anyone know if photos from facebook can be linked to other pages?

Is this it? It's at the Poly:

Welcome Ms. DogCat! No problems here adding one more to our happy group of FE fans.

Are we going to have a final/final list once everyone gets their room assignments so we make sure not to miss anyone?

I like the meeting idea on deck 10, but if not, we'll be easy enough to spot (me and my brother Mike/hiddenmickey)....Just look for the two fat guys that are 40ish, but acting more like 10-12ish, and have ice cream face and a trail of mickey bar wrappers behind them...:woohoo::banana::banana::woohoo:

Still no documents yet for us!! I even saw the fed-ex guy go past this morning! AAAAHHHHHHH!!!!!...the anticipation builds:yay::yay:

First, you need to find the url of the photo you want to post. You then start to post as you normally would (not in the quick reply section unless you're familiar with how to use html coding), and then click the yellowish icon that has a mountain & sun. That should put the "img" tag and the "/img" tag in brackets. You then simply paste the url to your picture, and click "submit reply" as usual. That should get the pic posted for you.

Quick question (well, two, kinda):

Does anyone have the # to check on what movies will be playing while we're on board, or has anyone called? DW & I (ok, pretty much just me) wanted to catch the Toy Stories in :3dglasses, but we didn't really have the time or motivation to see them at the movies here, and I just saw that they were going to extend what would have been the two week run of the double feature. Any input would be greatly appreciated!

I was going to call when the Wonder came out of drydock, the list from the 9/24 3 day only had movies we had already seen. Hoping that some new movies will be added after Drydock.

Yes.(called)

According to DCL a week or two ago,

Up, Bolt, Toy Stories (3D), and A Christmas carol premieres at 12:01 on Nov. 6, (midnight of sail away day)

There were a couple others but I didnt write them all down :sad2: But I believe they were older, hannah montana, etc.

I planned to call again, as I too thought they may add something after dry dock.:confused3

Silly question, and I think I know the answer, but....If we are flying in the day before and we are NOT using any disney transportation, I assume we would put the luggage tags on our bags the morning of the cruise before we get to the cruise terminal? Our docs came yesterday, and I wondered if I am missing something? I saw how everyone was so excited about them coming and it got me excited as well. When they came, I saw I was in the same room, which is just fine with me, but other than the luggage tags, everything else in the "ticket packet" thingie they sent was obsolete?

There were ground transport tags that we don't use and flight info cards that we also don't need. Am I missing something? I filled out all the forms online already and printed them out to bring, so I assume I'm good?

I'm still excited about the trip, just a little perplexed with what came in the mail....:confused3

I love Poe, he is my fav writer. I hear ya about work. I work for sony, and we do this funky 4 days on, 4 off schedule. So I work 4 12-hour days, then have 4 days off. (cool thing is my days off shift by 1 every week) So we have 16 days till we leave but I only have 8 days of work. I'm off right now, but when I return on thursday I'll have 13 days til we leave, and STILL 8 days of work. lol The great thing is, we are staying in fla for 2 days after the trip and just "happen" to come home on my last work day of the week. :wave2: Hey guys here I am. I've had a pretty crappy week last week.
DH had a flare up of his diverticulitis (sp?). Then DD13 got hurt at school by some dumb 9th grade boy who decided to kick her chair out from under her when she went to sit down. She now has a large hematoma in the muscle just to the right of her spine. Then DD17 dislocated her finger at Powderpuff football practice. I wanted our DR to examine it just to be sure it was put back in the joint correctly by the athletic director. It was out at almost a 90 degree angle. Well the xrays came back w/ it being broken in multiple places. :scared1: I am dealing w/ an inflamed rotator cuff and pinched nerve in the shoulder/neck which is giving me bad headaches some of the time. I hope it is pouring now so that we will all be fine next week. We leave for WDW on 10/30.
I am soooo NOT ready for this trip. I couldn't wait for it to get here, and now I want some extra time. LOL.
I know what you mean about the germs maxrocko. DD17 works at a daycare M-F and I am soooo worried she is going to get sick or bring something home to the rest of us.

Yep. We were just counting down the days, waiting to get everything done the last few weeks, then last sunday my wife's father passed away after a long battle with cancer. So last week is pretty much a blur between all the happenings and such.

Now, the funeral is over and here we are on the other side of it all with just 2 weeks left to get it all done.

It's weird, we've been to wdw tons of times and are always very organized and have everything ready months beforehand. This being our first cruise, I feel totally unprepared and disorganized. So sorry to hear about the loss of your FiL HiddenMickeys
Cancer is an ugly nasty thing. In July of 2007, DD13 and I went to WDW just the 2 of us (well part of the week it was w/ her BF and her BF's mom). When DH picked us up at the airport, he told me my mom had been diagnosed w/ colon cancer while we were gone. Luckily, I still have my mom but it was a long tough road, moreso for her, but it took its toll on our whole family. I feel a small portion of your wife's pain. Colon cancer has taken 3 of my mom's sisters. Your family will be in my thoughts and prayers.
Don't worry about forgetting something. Last year on my first cruise, I packed everything but the kitchen sink. I'm not kidding. I had 7 suitecases for 4 of us for a 4 night cruise. Our driver from the rental car office to the port asked if we were planning on moving to the island. I will admit, just this once though ;), that I did overpack. Yes, that is an understatment. It'll be fine. I had those same feelings last year before our first cruise. I thought to myself this is how the newbies must feel before their first trip to WDW. :lmao:
We aren't getting to port real early as our DDs are staying w/ my Inlaws who now live in FL. they're coming over to WDW and will stay w/ the girls there while we are gone. So since they are driving over from the gulf coast that morning. I expect we'll get to the ship between 12 and 1. I'm fine w/ that. Best part is we won't have to lug around our carry-ons w/ us very long if at all. ;)
Can't wait to meet everyone on board. :cool1:

Well 5 since one was full of wedding favors. This year we each get one suitcase and a carry on, that is all! For 10 days. I don't know if we can do it. We will have a washer and dryer in the treehouses, so that helps! I plan on wearing things twice (which I hate to do on Vacation)!

I am so excited our rooms will be next to each others....we will really be running into each other this year! LOL

All this talk of paking made me think of something...DW recently purchased something from eBags called packing cubes (correct me if I'm wrong, please), and they are a great space-saving device. you just put the clothes in, but they zip up as well, so it kind of condenses them. It doesn't get out as much air as the vacu-pac luggage things, but they do save a lot of space. DW & I started our packing using them, and for my clothes (for a 3 night WDW stay & 3 night cruise), I was able to get my clothes into one large, one medium and 2 or 3 small packing cubes. Another nice thing about them is they double as drawer liners. I'm not saying state rooms are dirty...far from actually. When you unzip the cubes, you can fold back the top, and set the cube right in the drawer. I'm not trying to sound like a pitchman here...but I do like the idea of them, and so far haven't had any issues with the use. We're getting very excited for the trip, and the days can't fall away quickly enough.pirate:pirate:

For those of us who are hitting the parks before the cruise, I've been checking Accu Weather for Orlando and so far they are showing 10/31 with a high of 84, sun & clouds, 11/1 - 77 partly sunny, windy & colder, 11/2 - 75 windy w/clouds & sun and 11/3 - 81 sun & areas of low clouds. So far, not too bad, waiting to see Nassua weather by the end of the week. Of course things could change, I was in Florida when Hurricane Andrew hit in August of 92, Magic Kingdom was packed because everyone came inland and decided to hit the parks. Hopefully, no hurricanes this time.:dance3:

A Great meet place is up on deck nine before the drill, around 3 pm or in the main lobby same time. Both also a great photo op.

This sounds good to me. We would like to meet everyone on this cruise, and we're a smaller size group- :goodvibes
Yep. We were just counting down the days, waiting to get everything done the last few weeks, then last sunday my wife's father passed away after a long battle with cancer. So last week is pretty much a blur between all the happenings and such.

HiddenMickeys- sorry to hear about your FIL passing.
Don't worry if you forgot something it usually can be purchased if you still need it

Is there any way you could post it a little larger? some of us older (41) folks would like to be able to read it after we print it. :lmao::sad2:

Thanks for the well wishes all. I hooked my compu-confused wife up with a dis account today so she can get in here and chat as well. I'm sure she'll be along soon. :thumbsup2

Deck 9 or 10 works for us if that's where everyone wants to meet. I was thinking about deck 7 aft if we were meeting after the sail away party , but anywhere is fine whether it's before or after. Just let us know. :woohoo:

Why don't we all meet at 3:00 on Deck 13. When the boat was in dry dock, they put in a new lounge area that's open bar. Did I just mess with some of you guys? :lmao: Just kidding, I know there's no deck 13, just messing with your heads right now, since I am feeling a bit discombobulated with everything, I thought I'd pass it on. So far, we have 2 for Deck 9 at 3:00....sounds good to me, :thumbsup2 anyone else?

We hit the single digits tomorrow.......only 9 more days for us!!!!

Ok, after the last couple of days, I'm so ready for this vacation. Pretty bad when I'm drinking as I'm cooking dinner - amazing what a bad day with elementary students will do to you! But things are in perspective now - I can get through 7 more days of kids, I think I can, I think I can! Come November 4!! We're in the beginning stages of packing, pirate outfits and bathing suits. Do I need anything else?

Depends (well not literally depends :lmao:) Sorry!
What I started to say was depends on whether you are planning on dining at Palo as I don't think pirate outfits or swimwear are acceptable dinner attire at Palo. Personally, I would take a light jacket. It can get cool at night on the upper outdoor decks. Or at least I thought so and we cruised just about this same time last year, Nov 2-6.
what do you teach, I mean grade wise. I'm figuring from your post, it's children of some sort. :rotfl: Can you tell how tired and punchy I am with the corny jokes? LOL

Hi guys. I'm all for meeting up after the sail away party. We have the first dinner seating so we prob don't have much time to hang out before dinner but it would be so great to atleast get a pic with everyone! I'm getting so excited.

Oh and BTW, I'm having a fight with my photobucket account, so I'm sorry about the small FE list. I'm gonna try posting a larger one when I can.

The imaging hosting site that I usually use got a nasty virus  so I have been using my photobucket account for the FE list. I've tried and tried to resize my image and photobucket just wont allow anything bigger. Thats one of the reasons why I was using a different site. The size of this list stinks, so if anyone would like me to send them the FE list so that you can print it out, PM me with your email and I'd be happy send you a copy that you can size to your liking. :goodvibes

Puts a smile on my face! I teach k-5th grade technology/Spanish. The kicker is, I don't speak Spanish! you figure it out, because I sure can't! Okay, if you insist, I will go through my closet this weekend and dig up some more clothes! Two weeks from today, we'll be on that ship!!!!!

Like I told my brother. If a hurricane hits, there will be one fat boy sitting in a lounge chair on deck 10, getting soaked, and eating a very runny mickey bar. But I'll still be smiling. :thumbsup2
Make that "2" fat boys suckin on Mickey Bars my boy....... My brother is the paranoid type because he usually has every minute of every day planned out for our WDW trip....which is good, cause I'm the complete opposite.

I would like to invite you all to envoke the Gillhoolie "Meh" mentality and RELAX.....remember.....VACATION!!!!!!!!!!!!

If I forget anything, I'll either ask for it from housekeeping, buy it in the ship store, or do without! And for weather.....what can you do???

Hey, I'm on a short 3 day vacation, and I'm gonna enjoy it no matter what .....so bring on Mother Nature, she won't ruin it for me!!!:cool1:

.........and no, I haven't started to pack yet.......We're all gonna have a ball!!!!!

This cruise is pure relaxation for us too. We don't even have plans to go to the dinning rooms, no schedules for us. We have Palo one night, another we want to do Topsiders/Beach Blanket (can't remember which is on the wonder) and we don't know for the other night. I plan on doing our tips the first day and slipping in quick at dinner time to give them out.

Question as I feel I am missing something- what is all this talk about a hurricane?? I haven't heard of anything. Last Sept we couldn't got to Castaway Cay for our double dip due to the high seas but we we're ready for that one. And yes- it's vacation and we'll all have a great time realxing!

I really do hope you're joking about the hurricane. The last time my DH and I went on a cruise was Nov 1-4th 2007 on the Wonder. Hurricane Noel was in the Atlantic and the Disney Magic was rerouted to Nassau. It was so breathtaking to see the Magic and Wonder next to eachother. This was one of the only times in the ship's history that the two ships have been docked together. We were able to get some great photos.

It is going to be a quick trip for us with no park visit. I am hoping we will be able to get into "vacation mode" right off the bat. I'm guessing our shopping stop on the way to the ship will help with that. :drinking1 Ha-ha! We are doing a few excursions but keeping things pretty low key. (sting ray's and garden tour/marching flamingos:confused3) We are sending the 20 somethings snorkeling since they have never been. I have finally settled into packing. Trying to pack light is a challenge for me. It's hard to pull out the shorts for a trip when you are dressed in your woolies!!!:cold: Can't wait to meet everyone on board!

Anyone doing any excursions?

We are getting a couples message (ooh la la):rotfl2: and after reading a post from someone who just got off the Wonder, I decided to book the Graycliff Wine and Cheese Pairing. I LOVE CHEESE!! Here's the information on it:

Graycliff Wine and Cheese Pairing (1 1/2 hours)
Graycliff's Wine & Cheese Pairings will take participants through eight wine tastings — four red and four white — each paired with cheeses from around the world, along with a tour of the famed wine cellar, topped off with a wine themed souvenir for each participant. At the conclusion of your experience, you may choose to return directly to the pier, or stay to enjoy a meal at the restaurant at an additional cost. - A minimum of eight wine and cheese pairings are included. -Wheelchairs need to be standard size and collapsible; no electric wheelchairs permitted. -Guests will travel by air-conditioned van or mini-bus. Transportation time is approximately 10 minutes each way. -This excursion includes a 15 minute walk to and from the pick-up point. -Guests who choose to stay at the Graycliff Restaurant will be responsible for their own taxi transport back to the pier. Guests are encouraged to bring credit cards (for food and souvenirs) as some vendors do not accept cash.
Price: Adult $189.00(21 & up)

I'm getting so excited!
