This is the first time I've joined a challenge. I'm doing WW with my sister and our weigh in day is Tuesday. I've been going since the end of October and lost 28.2 pounds. I keep telling myself that is great, but sometimes it seems discouraging because I have so much more to lose. When I looked back though, I've basically lost an average of 7 pounds per month so I guess that's not too bad considering that Thanksgiving and Christmas were both in there.
Anyway, I didn't mean to get longwinded with my post, but I'd love to put myself in and would love to lose 7 pounds. I'm going to try to make it my goal each month and go from there. It's definately doable!
So, put my down for 7 pounds by the end of the month!

It's great to see that others are willing to do this one small goal at a time!:cool1:
Hey, ski mom, you are doing great. Don't beat yourself up too much because you have made great progress. Remember you didn't gain weight overnight and the best way to keep it off in the long run is to lose it over time. 7 lbs a month is a very healthy loss.:thumbsup2
Here's to everyone reaching their goals this month!:wizard:

Oh please can I join. I have had a few pounds creep back, in the last few months and my munching has been out of control. The Dis challenges really helped me stay on track in the past, but since I hit goal, I haven't felt I was really eligible for to join.....but now......
I have gained 6 lbs. since Christmas, and need to get back on track. I would love to loose 4 lbs. this month.
I try to watch my WW points and exercise 4-5 days a week, but I would love to hear any diet or exercise tips that you all could share.

Well, we have been walking in the evenings for exercise, DH is military, and is getting stationed down at a Law Enforcement team in Miami in July, so he has to be REALLY fit, so we both go out walking at night, helps BOTH of us, and he keeps me going at a very fast pace. We've been doing a mile in right around 20 minutes. :cool1: So if we can do that at least 4 times a week, and I can stay on my Alli and eat good, then I can do it! I'm motovated to help DH, and in turn he's helping me. I would LOVE to be around 125lbs, but will be happy at 135. Which means around 35lbs total to lose. My motovation, well, I got a closet full of size 12s, that I can't fit into, and my 14's are starting to get worn out, so I REALLY don't want to go out and buy more big pants, so drop about 10 lbs will get me back into the 12's, I think! So keep on :yay: and we can all do this together!! :woohoo:

So how is everyone doing? I'm doing great, haven't lost any, but haven't gained any either, just got the monthly "visitor" so that's probably the cause. I've been doing good on the diet, and the walking, I feel good. It does suck when your family is eating KFC, and you're eating a salad, but I tell myself it's worth it in the long run!! Keep it going!!! WE can do this!!

Aaarrgghhh! I have lost and gained the same few pounds every weekend for a month. DH works 2nd shift, so weekends are the only time we get to cook and eat together. I'm sure our passion for new recipes and wine tasting does not help the problem. So, once again I will try and stick to my workouts and count my WW pts. and lose those same blasted pounds by next weekend.
I will weighin on Wednesday and report in....but it may not be pretty! :scared1: Congrats to all of you who have better weekend willpower than I do!

My weekends have not been great lately either. They have been busy and then I just don't eat on consistent basis which leads to the wrong foods by day's end.
I will weigh in as soon as I get my new scale, should be here soon. The old one fluctuates too much and that is after replacing batteries.
I need motivation to get a good exercise routine incorporated into my daily routine. Anyone have any suggestions?

I've been eating good, taking my alli, and walking, but the scale AIN'T MOVING!!! Making me crazy!! I want to see SOME results!!! I keep looking at these size 12's in my closet and want to get into them. I look at them EVERY DAY!!! That's my motovation....those pants! Gonna walk tonight, and helping DH quit smoking here very soon, he's going thru the military channel, so it takes a little bit....plus he's going to a VERY physically challenging Law Enforcement Job, so we're getting fit together!! He's giving up smoking, I'm giving up sweets!! It's been hard, ESPECIALLY last night, we went to get something to eat, him and ds got BURGER KING, I got a salad from Quizno's, I'm sitting in the car with the bag on my lap, smelling these burgers and fries!!! UG, Willpower was fading, and fast, but I stayed good!! Anyone else having willpower troubles? only thing keeping me good is the alli pills, I'm afraid of eating too much bad stuff!! I guess that's not such a bad thing! :)

I always have will power problems. It really stinks when people around you are eating all that yummy stuff when you've got a salad!
DH just brought home Girl Scout cookies. It is so hard to let the dcs have some after dinner. Ahh..the crinkle of the Thin Mint foil wrapper, the chocolatey goodness!

Wow, Lesli! I only realized this was here when I went to the first post & it wouldn't let me edit it.....I thought it was the exercise challenge!! Tells you how awake I am today!!
Anyway, count me in. I'll go from last Sat (when I finally got the Bugg running) and try for 5 lbs. A bit more than my 1.5 lbs/week I supposedly have it programmed for.
Thanks for doing this one! I thought about it, but figured the exercise thread was enough to manage.

I am still waiting for the new scale. Hopefully, it will arrive today.
To those of you trying to manage with better food while your family is eating anything they want, maybe you could consider having the entire family eat healthier. We are trying it here and other than DH who keeps snacking like crazy, the kids really don't mind.
Here's hoping that everyone has a very successful week with losing those lbs!:wizard:

Yes, dh is the snacker in our house. When the kids get home, I usually give the choice of healthy things, like yogurt, fruit, pretzels. They eat what I cook, which is usually sometning healthy. DH likes cookies and sweet cereal! I try not to buy temptations. DH does and as soon as I get rid of them, by eating, tossing or sharing, more appears in our house, like PB Oreos.
bouncycat
03-12-2009, 11:23 AM
OMG, your house sounds just like mine Paint!! Dh will come in the living room with cookies, cheez it's etc. And of course I just sit there and watch him eat! UG That kills me!! Anyways, I think my scale gave me a wrong reading the other day, it said 165.5, and every day after that it was saying 168, and THIS MORNING it was down to 166.5 either I read it wrong the other day, or it was wrong...haven't figured out which, anyways, it moved, so I'm happy! Those Alli pills have been upsetting my stomach the past couple of days, and I've been good!! :confused3 I had really bad gas and diahrea yesterday, and I've been good!!! I haven't had a meal that was over 12 grams of fat!! I had a friend tell me maybe it's just my system, and i'm off them as of today. I just don't like that icky my butt's gonna explode at any minute feeling that I was having. So, I'm fine today, still doing good, The girls here at work are getting subway for lunch, so I'm getting a turkey on the whole grain without the oil and vinegar...and I just LOVE the oil and vinegar!! :rolleyes1 So, still good. DH and I will still walk...and hope from there!! But, the temptation to cheat will be greater when I don't have the consequences...that's where I'll need the help! :scared:

Try living with the grocery man, who not only snacks at work but comes home with various things even though I planned a meal and we have plenty of food in the house. Last night DH came home with grands biscuits and popped them in the oven even though I had a nice taco salad made AND everyone else was already done with supper. Needless to say, the smell just tempts you (yes, I ate one). I can't seem to get through to him that eating 3-4 biscuits is a ton of cal.:confused3
Great news! My new scale came yesterday and I love it. Of course it may help that I am actually down in weight, but I do love the fact that it is very accurate. AND I weighed myself 4 times in a row to check. My last one gave a different read everytime.
So I am down 1.4 lbs. Some of that may be the change in scales, but it is hard to tell since I haven't been able to weigh in the last few weeks. However, I figure that I have to go with the last good weigh in that I had.
Hope everyone has a great day!

bouncy- My friend that did Alli (when it was prescription) said never again! Are you taking it to force yourself to eat better for fear of what might happen? I can't imagine going to work with that stomach churning feeling!
Lesli- Yes, most of those biscuits are bad and contain the dreaded "transfat". At least you stopped at one!
patita- I am a nightime snacker, too. It seems once I start it is hard to stop. All downhill from about 5 p.m.! I am trying to eat dinner around 5, because if I don't I snack until dinner, then after, too! If I eat a healthy dinner, I do have an evening snack, like an apple or small bowl of cereal with soy milk.
I exercised M, T, and Thur this week. Today I did 30 minutes of cardio on the elliptical and abs and arms. I want "guns"!
I also ate a salad and grapes for lunch...while I looked at the "food porn" thread!:rotfl2:

:welcome: Aspen!! We're just all here looking for a little support to help lose weight!!
Paint, I was taking it for a couple reasons, to help scare me into eating right, I have NO will power, and 2 to help my body to NOT absorb some fats that I eat. I feel better today without taking it....it has been hard here at work, but there's not much to do except cruise the disboards!! :lmao:
So, we're all looking at the calorie counts we need to "maintain our weight today, I don't remember the site, but it said for my height and weight and age to maintain I'd have to eat 1900 calories a day!!! :scared: Is it me, or does that seem like a lot? I've been staying around 1200 a day since starting to eat better, so I SHOULD be losing....I hope some comes off soon!! I'm starting to get scared!! :scared:

hi Paint! I like the idea of cereal with soy milk as a snack. I have to try and eat dinner earlier, I get home from work a little after 5pm, so after transitioning from work to home, then it's homework time while trying to cook dinner and entertain a toddler. Needless to say I often have dinner about 7pm and then 9pm comes around and I want a snack. so maybe if I try to streamline my evenings I can hopefully eat earlier..
thanks for the input!

Oh, did I mention I work in a fancy schmancy Italian restaurant, too? There's delicious crusty fresh bread to munch on all shift. Then, when you get off, 50% off a meal...which entree (that I've seen brought to tables) looks the best...decisions, decisions. Dessert you say? We've got about a dozen choices, too! I'm doomed!:rotfl2: I waitress, though, so a weekend night is quite a cardio session!
patita- I like cereal, because if you stick to a serving size, it has no more fat/cal than a granola bar and takes longer to eat. I like things that take long time to eat. Seems more satisfying to me. I also use lowfat vanilla soymilk. I love it!
bouncy- I am sure you can do it without! We're here for you!:) Surf (the Dis) instead of snacking. Just stear clear of the restaraunts forum.
aspen- Welcome! I think that's a very reasonable goal. You can do it!
Do you ladies know about www.hungrygirl.com? Lots of easy recipes and hints. She also has a cookbook.
Also, (learned from HG) I eat Shirataki noodles. They're made of tofu, 40 cals for a big bowl (one package) and 2% carbs. They are really good! HG has lots of recipes using them, too.

Paint, that's sooooo funny, I do peruse the restaurant board....cause we got 2 trips WITH the DDP coming up...I am doing good off the pills tho, I FEEL better, that's the main thing, not blowing DH out of bed at night either, so I'm SURE he's happy!! HAHA I did grab my size 12's out of the closet last night, got them ON AND BUTTONED!!! Had a muffin top from you know where happenin, but hey, they were ON!!!! So that made me feel good. When I got into work this morning, I had a banana and a cup of grapefruit juice, and one of my co-workers IMMEDIATELY asked me if I wanted to split a pizza today!! Um, NO!!! That's what I told DH, I'm being GOOD. We are making hamburgers and hot dogs for the family tomorrow, so I'll probably have just one, load it with veggies, but we're doing yard work, so that'll burn it off pretty quick, then we'll probably go walk our mile that we do...I wanna be in those pants COMFORTABLY by the end of the month!!!! WILLPOWER.....it came back with those jeans last night...it felt good!! Keep it up everyone!!

so i wasnt sure when which day we report, but for this past week I'm down 2.5lbs!!
Everytime I was going to reach for a snack (while preparing dinner) I reminded myself that I had to report to the dis! hopefully this same reasoning will help me through the weekend

Hi, all! Hope the weekend is going well! I did 45 mins of cardio and arms yesterday, then worked a BUSY shift. I think I got some exercise! Today, though, I ate a Reese's egg, but I've been good all week and got it out of my system. I used to let one treat turn into several or several days worth. I need to learn to enjoy one without feeling guilty. I had Nutrigrain waffles with sugar free syrup for bfast and a big salad with chicken for lunch. No exercise today, though, as I go into work early. Again, though, it is pretty much all night walking!
patita- I hate drinking cals, too. Good thing I love Diet Coke! I like an occasional fat free sugar free coffee drink, though.
dgals- Welcome and good luck!
bouncy-Haha about the muffintop. It is easy to hide it under a sweatshirt during these midwestern winters. I am frightened for summer, though. The 15 or so lbs. I've gained from last year definitely adds up to a size or two. Hope you resisted those burgers and dogs!

Well, I was bad this weekend, had just one hamburger, some potato salad, and a small slice of chocolate cake yesterday, but I was doing yard work all weekend, so does that mean I burned off the bad stuff?? :confused3 I didn't have much, and I still ate my cheerios in the morning, and didn't over indulge, but we did do ALOT of work outside, and it was 80+ degrees, so I was a little sweaty :rolleyes1 So, I'm back on track today, and doing fine. I feel okay beside being sore from the yardwork...so I guess as long as I'm back on track, no harm done??? :scared:

OK, not doing so good this month. I lost 1 lb. but gained it back plus one more over the weekend. I need to start writing down all my food and points. I need to say "no" to that second glass of wine. I need to quit eating my hubby's awesome BBQ cooking.
This is going to be rough this week, since Friday is my birthday, and next Friday is DH's birthday...and we will be going out to eat both weekends. I will just make good food. Today at work, the girls had a b-day lunch for me. I did just ok, but they had small lean sandwichs from Panera and a couple of fresh salad choices. I did have a sliver of choc. cake and some fresh fruit salad.
I have been faithful with my workouts....40min. of cardio or pilates 4-5 times a week, and 100 crunches. I was going to go shopping after work tonight (skip my workout), but I feel so guilty about lunch, I may just go home and put in a 3 or 4 mi. Leslie Sansone to cleanse my soul.
I am prepared to battle through the next few weeks, and hopefully conquer that blasted 4-5 lbs. that keep haunting me. Believe me, if someone opens an April weight challenge....I will be there.
Congrats to all the successful weight losers...hopefully I will be able to report a loss next week.:thumbsup2

Sorry, I didn't post updates yesterday. It has been crazy around here and I have been very busy. The great thing is that I have been getting some exercise and yesterday worked my fingers to the bone cleaning house (that counts as exercise, right).
Welcome to the newcomers! Aspen and SpacMtnFan, what is your weight loss goal for March? It is great that you both have lost so much. If you put down your totals for this month, I will be happy to post them on the first post.
In all, I have lost 1.8 lbs so far. Making it to the 10 will be tough, but I am thrilled with any lost weight that I can get.
Looks like we have alot of great support here which helps. Hey, if we don't make our goals this month, just be happy with the progress we have made and then continue it into next month. Remember, it really is a lifestyle change and I have found that as we focus on making other changes in our life to support a healthy weight it often is hard to focus on the weight alone.
This week, I have been dejunking and really, really simplifying the things we have. It was amazing how much lighter I felt after cleaning out a bookcase and not seeing it crammed with books and stuff. Not a big focus on weight loss, but at least I wasn't eating during that time and I started to se a semblance of who I used to be. Which I think will all eventually help in the actual weight loss. Hey, it can't hurt can it?:confused3
Everyone keep up the great work!

Updating weight loss... 3lbs so far for march

Aspen37 and SpaceMtnFan, you guys have had some awesome losses this month!:yay: We would all love to hear some of the things that you are doing to take off the weight.
Patita71, I think that it is great that you have reached your "break through" point. Don't think of it as a "wall". It's a number that you can get past 1 lb at a time. You can do this!
I will not make my goal this month, but I am ok with that and will just keep trying to take off what I can before months end. On the plus side, I am doing alot of organizing at home to set things up better around the house. Hopefully, that will allow me to focus more next month and take off some serious weight.

Hi! I've been MIA, I know. I have not been eating as well or exercising quite as often as I should have. The kids and dh are both home on spring break this week, so it is so hard to get motivated when they're just hanging out! I haven't weighed myself for awhile (don't want to know) but at last weigh (Tues.) I was down about 4 lbs...but I ate pizza last night!:rotfl2:Hope all is going well for you!

I just updated totals. We have a little less than one week to lose a few more lbs. If anyone is worried about not reaching there goal, it's alright, just take the few lbs that you did lose and know that this takes time and at least you are going in the right direction.
Great job dis2cruise on exceeding your goal!
Paintnolish, I think that 4lbs down is great!:yay: Take what you can and be proud of yourself for being that much closer to your overall goal. It can be hard when the family is around, just hang in there.
Hope that everyone is very successful with taking off a little more before month's end.

After gaining a couple of pounds this month....I am finally back on track. I have started writing down all my food and WW pts. and keeping a journal has really helped. I find I do better if I plan and write down my food , for the day, each morning, and just stick to it. I have been diligent on my daily workouts, switching between cardio and pilates each day. I have taken off the few pounds I gained and 1 add'l pound.
So I guess for the month I am offically 1 lb. down....but I still have a few more days before the end of the month and will try for 1 or 2 more. All I can say is, it may have taken me a few weeks to get back on track but I'm really encouraged by my success this past week. Plus, I feel so much better mentally and physically.

1 lb lost is better than gaining, Wezee.
I am with you, mentally I am better prepared than I was at the beginning of the month which I think will help both of us take off some serious lbs in April.
Here's WISHing that everyone has a very active weekend!:wizard:

Quite simple Just eat helthy foods. Cut back on fast foods, excercise like walking and staying active. I walk at A local park that has a 4.8 mile walking jogging trail.

Ron, you are doing great! I agree with you, better food choices and activity are the key.
As of today, I am back to my 1.8 lbs lost fort the month. I took off quite a few that I had added on simply by making better food choices, better portion control, and moving more. Now to set up a good exercise routine maybe, I can take off alot in April.:rolleyes1
Nappingbeauty, I do plan to start up on monthly challenge for April. Look for it in a few days. Sometimes it is just easier to think in small goals.
Everyone have a great weekend!

Weighed in this morning, with no add'l loss to report for March. But, I feel great and still seem really focused. The food journaling is going very well and I ahve high expectations for April.:thumbsup2
I"m just happy I did not gain, for once, this weekend ...considering we celebrated Dh's 50th bday all weekend long. But I watched my food and counted points...even on that bottle of celebration wine.
I am very close to my goal, but wanted to lose a few more pounds and firm up before our WDW trip, and I realize it will be a slow process. I just want to stay on top of it and not backslide.
You all are great inspirations and your weight loss success is awesome...keep up the great work.:cool1:

For March, I am 3.4lbs down in total. I had hoped for 10, but I have made made a lot of healthy changes so I am happy with the weight that I have lost. Now, I can keep moving forward in April.
The best part? I am far enough under 220 now, that I know I will never see that number again!:cool1:
Everyone has done a wonderful job with working towards their goals. Even if all you did was maintained, but learned how to make other changes that will eventually lead to weight loss consider that success and take pride in it.
Don't forget to sign up for the April challenge.

Well, I was only down 3.4 out of my 7 pound goal that I set for myself, but I know it's better than nothing (or gaining which I'm really good at). I go to weight watchers on Tuesday nights, so I wanted to wait until after that meeting to post my total for the month. I was hoping for a better weigh in last night, but only lost .6 for the week, but again, better than nothing. I really need to kick my motivation in again because I have a lot to lose.
My total since I've joined WWs is 30.2 pounds, but I've got ALOT left to lose. I'm now down to 240.8, so I'm going to join the April thread and get going for the new month!
