I guess between that and if the cabin needs anything done to it in drydock it might be worth a shot. At least it will give you all something to do when you get in the room the following year. :yay: :rolleyes1 :rotfl: :rotfl2: :lmao:  :upsidedow

Nice -- I have been looking at the prices on British Air for the JFK-LHR and BCN-JFK flights too . . . will probably book on BA around the beginning of the year.

I remember when we were going to do something like that on the Magic - hide things for each other on the ship on different sailings! Since you are in the same room two years in a row I would definitely try to do a few tiny things and then check the next year:goodvibes:goodvibes

That's about the same price we can get now on BA for PHL/LHR r/t. I need to look into USAir but I don't think they are doing non-stop into LHR for next year and then I need to check the times for flying in/out of LGW.
I'd much rather fly out of PHL then drive to JFK or EWR. There aren't too many non-stop choices out of BWI anymore, at least not to where we want to fly.

Hey I do not need any of that stuff,

Now the problem is that everything bar the books, is glued down in the Cat 3, either DCL think we will take it, or they expect big waves.

Behind a picture or under a carpet is really the only option.....

Now getting back to DCL thinking we will take things, a wise person once said.......

The ships movement lasts two days after you get off.:upsidedow

The extra weight you put on lasts 4 weeks.:goodvibes

Not for flying out of PHL anymore. They are getting so expensive to fly out of which is why we've driven to JFK several times or EWR.
BA price for PHL/LHR 7/15 departure, return 7/30 is $1121.40/person. :scared1:

I am still thinking about the Alaska cruise. Madison wants to go, she is trying to talk Papa into going. It was a TON cheaper on Celebrity though.
Yesterday I emailed DCL to ask if they are still going to have Pirate Night on the Baltic cruise because I wanted to get Madison and my neices Pirate outfits for Christmas presents. They replied today that they, as of yet, haven't decided the whole itenierary of the cruise. Check back in the coming months. I wonder what is in the works?:confused3

Steve just discovered a Washington apple. They are good if done right. And if done right, I wonder if they fall under the category of "An apple a day keeps the doctor away." :lmao:

Its the last day of summer. Fall officially arrives at 5 pm and its over 98 degrees at my house. April gets to play in a hot, stuffy non-AC gym. And her mommy gets to sit there also until 8:30 or 9 tonight while her FB doesn't work on her phone. :scared1::mad: Can't decide which one is worse. Now to strip down and put on a tank top. Now that really is: :scared1: ()

OH read about the fires on FB. Feel for you. The gym wasn't as bad as last week. Not good but back.

On a bad note, one of the opposing teams Frosh/Soph girls was dancing very suggestively, and upon one of the our stand's cheers (which in itself was a minor miracle) she went running up and down in front of me doing a Kanye and urging us "witches" (with a B) to come on. I was not impressed. She mouthed rather than yelled it out but isn't that the same thing. Am debating on called the school. I know its minor but come on, this was not good. Left a sour taste in my mouth.

I'm so glad my friends will be driving to the port so I can send them my shopping list and they can bring it with them.

OK

Girls and Guy some important information.

Do not think I have disappeared on strop!!!!!! (not that I would ever be provoked to do that)!

But I have had ''issues'' with this laptop since I purchased it in March, its very nice, but it 'freezes' for no reason at all. so requires a reboot.

The shop from where I purchased this has agreed a full refund and this laptop is going tomorrow.

Now I have to wipe the hard-drive, stop all my files, and then go and buy a new laptop.

So there will be an interruption to normal service.

Almost as expensive as going to europe!:headache:

I agree Robert, totally stupid. Even worse when you can look at the seating arrangements on some airlines and see they aren't even close to being full at the outrageous rates so far out.
I was looking at flying down in either Jan. for a long weekend or Feb. for a long weekend, it was half the price to fly down in Jan. and the 3 day Wonder cruise is cheaper too so that's when we will go down WHEN DH's vacation is approved. DD will have to miss 1 day of school, but we can deal with that for the amount saved.

I was pricing flights on USAir and BA for this cruise and given the prices are very close :scared1: I'll book USAir and make a connection in CTL going over in order to get the USAir miles. If I'm spending the same amount of money might as well get some sort of benefit since we don't earn any miles flown using BA.
At least with going on USAir we can fly into LGW and get in early and then fly out of LHR and not have to sit and wait a few extra hours. I'd fly into LHR, but the only flight out of PHL get us there at 11:05am and that's a waste of half the day of shopping. :headache:

Hopefully it was time well spent. We don't realize how these machines have become a part of our life we can't live without! :surfweb:

Still on DD's (Alice) laptop, so limited service continues, I didnt expect them to refund and take the old one so quickly, so had no plans on a new laptop.

I will not go back to that same brand, so I have been looking around this afternoon to the options. There are many, so its not something I will rush into. But whilst I have acess on this laptop online now, I wll have a further look.

Ok purchased a new laptop online will get it next week, it actually was easy, as when I went for large screen size, processor, and 4 GB, excluding the last brand I had there was only '1' that matched it all, fussy or know what I want?

Hah! Beautiful day in Minnesota! We went out for a nice walk with a light breeze, sun shining, leaves starting to change. We have to enjoy it while we can!

Is anyone else anxious to get the 2010 point charts for Royal Garden in London? They said they "hope to get them by the end of the month".

The only hope that we have is that they decide next month, so we can make decisions on lodging for London!

Hi all, limited service continues until new laptop arrives, one thing on London, currently we have considerable wroks on all Rail and Tube lines, often at weekends. In the past a small section of a line would be clsoed, but currently you can have two or three lines shut all weekend, and part of other lines closed.

Now this will continue for quite a while but ensure your hotel is accessable by a few lines, or buses just in case.

We are getting new trains on many lines, longer and faster, and lots of extensions and new routes, all has to be in service by 2012 for some reason.

Wow, you wouldn't cut it flying overseas with us. We flew to Paris, by way of London, got to the hotel at DLP and room wasn't ready and then walked DTD until we could enter the park at 1:00 for free. (I was a CM at the time and that was our restriction to get in the park for free.) Stayed in the park until it closed and finally got back to the room around 10:00. Did the same thing last year when we flew to London, only difference was we could get into our room at 8:45am, then toured London until 9:30pm.
Yup long days but worth it and NO we didn't have the laydown beds in first, just the no leg room in world traveler on BA. I wouldn't want one of those sleeper first class seats on a flight that short, I'd rather have it on a much longer flight like going to Australia, but that won't be happening as long as those flights are around $18,000/person :scared1: .
I'll stick with my overnight flight and catch a little bit of sleep. :cloud9: But then there are only 3 of us and it's easier for 2 adults to keep 1 child entertained & content on a flight, unlike your clan. :grouphug:

Finally, see I should never stray far from the DIS, JoAnn, did your girls already know what they wanted to go to college for or where? April is in her Jr year and while she has no idea what she wants to do she has decided she wants to stay "close" by (meaning in CA). I went out and bought what feels like all those books about "371 Best Colleges", 2010 List of Colleges, and th best one of all - 910 College Majors.

While she has not decided what, she has eliminated some and is leaning to psychology or criminalogy or sometime like that. I suggested she declare undecided but would like to help her make a decision. (My other two never included me so this is like my first time going through this.) Its heart wrecking. LOL I'm just glad its her and not me. Have you seen the list of requirement now? YIKES. So far, she has been leaning towards UCLA, UC Irvine, UC Santa Barbara (Mom doesn't like that - high rate of partying and alchohol according to the Princeton Review) and Stanford. Mom of course is pushing Loyola Marymount. Dragging her to LMU open house on 10/26 hoping she'll fall in love with it. We shall see.

Laura you can then send it onto me since DD is a soph. this year and we get to go thru this the year after you. But she's leaning towards a couple of colleges near WDW, but needs to find a good one for early childhood education.
She's excited since Tuesday is the first day of preschool at her high school and the 10th graders will get them their last ½ hour each Tues, Wed, and Thurs. She goes to a vo-tech school and is taking early childhood education and they have a preschool with 20 3-4 year olds. It will be a great learning experience for her and she's working towards her goal of being a counselor on DCL ships.

I learned with my oldest that sometimes "undecided" helps them get in because colleges actually want students in this category so they can be added into majors later which are not full, or which others drop out of......also, the visits are an essential part of the process....my girls definitely changed their minds or made their minds after visits.......it's always tough, hang in there!!

We are absolutely in for December's DisMinimeet!!!!.

Ugh, the college process..... Good luck with this Julie. :headache::hug:

We'll try to get a day when most people can get together . . . fingers crossed:wizard:

Let's decide soon, so we can work around the date, the earlier the better for us in December.......

Let's decide soon, so we can work around the date, the earlier the better for us in December.......

The first weekend in December, it is possible that I may be out of town and I wouldn't know for sure until the middle of November . . . I could do the next two weekends (although I know the second weekend is bad for Barb and the next one may get close to Christmas) or I could do Thanksgiving weekend if we want to go that way, too.

As of now the only weekend in Dec. that I know that would be good is the first weekend (which is bad for Julie) and both weekends around T'giving are out since we will be in FL. So please make plans and if we can work them in or if we will be home we'll plan on meeting you if not we'll have to do it again next year.
Don't let our plans hold up everyone else's plans.

You will find it on auto pilot!

I thought some of you might enjoy this picture. I'm planning to make a tee-shirt out of it, but it would make a neat door magnet as well. Thanks to ****** who made the original design.

:lovestruc:lovestruc:lovestruc it! May we use it if need be?

Laura you can then send it onto me since DD is a soph. this year and we get to go thru this the year after you. But she's leaning towards a couple of colleges near WDW, but needs to find a good one for early childhood education.
She's excited since Tuesday is the first day of preschool at her high school and the 10th graders will get them their last ½ hour each Tues, Wed, and Thurs. She goes to a vo-tech school and is taking early childhood education and they have a preschool with 20 3-4 year olds. It will be a great learning experience for her and she's working towards her goal of being a counselor on DCL ships.

Will do! :rotfl: See Julie, you'll be helping out two very stressed out mother.

Also

We are going to WDW for DH's b'day the weekend of 12/11 and still haven't decided about when/if we are going down over Christmas break.

Am debating on booking a cruise for the 1st weeked in December. Heard tell that the rates are really cheap just before the season changes to high.

Thanks JoAnn. I didn't realize that. Did hear a girl on a video say something that it worked out better for her to declare undecided but she didn't say why. Now I can pass this on to April. Thanks a million.

Barb, forgot to mention that my oldest, Megan is at Cal State Northridge doing early childhood development. She is really very sweet and patient - where she got that from I have no clue but she really has a knack with teenagers. ;) I tell her its because she's their size and they think she's one of them. I bought her a t-shirt that says - I'm not short - I'm fun-size! :rotfl:

I tried suggesting teenagers but she says she doesn't like the drama. I told her - welcome to the adult world! :lmao:

We are hoping that we only got 2 years there. She transferred from a Jr college. They had a great entry program. She tried going to a Cal State right out of high school but it didn't work for her and when she transferred back to the Jr college some counselor mistakenly told her the classes she took would not be credited. She believed him and didn't check with someone else and when she "graduated" from the Jr college, turns out all the classes she took were credited. She lost a year but in her case, I think it worked out for the better as she helped me a lot when April was going to confirmation classes.

She already knew from high school what she wanted and other than the standard, mom - I need a credit card, she did it all on her own. SNIFF. She left me out of it. So I guess I'm going to take full advantage of this one as she's my last. But I'll keep you in mind.

On Saturday, we went to the grand opening of the College Counselling fair at her school. We showed up 1 one hr late and ended up winning the biggest raffle basket there. WOO HOO :woohoo: I never win. Course, all the gifts inside were April's size (like the t-shirt, sweatshirt, tank top, etc.) although I did get to keep the bag of coffee beans. :rotfl2: Anyone want some coffee beans for free? I got those one cup coffee maker.

Anyway, my point to all this, sometimes, they already know what they are meant to do. April? She's still pouring over the 3 inch thick book of college majors. She's scribbling furiously on a notepad I bought her and next month I'm dragging her to 2 open houses on the weekends she's not doing her SAT classes. SIGH. Looks like another year of me playing chauffeur.

Can't seem to find the time for her to get her license.

Sorry to hear about the car, but so glad to hear that everyone was fine.

Ah yes memories, I remember I was a senior in high school and backed out of a driveway and hit a car going down the road. Fortunately I was going slow and so were they so no one was hurt and their car only had a small amount of damage that I had to pay for :headache: . But to make things worse, the person driving the other car was of Chinese citizenship going to the university, spoke very little english, and was driving a car that belonged to the people whose house they were renting :headache: :headache: . Good thing cars were made so much better back in the 60's and 70's - I was driving a '66 Mustang and they were driving a Chevette.
To this day I'm still paranoid about backing up or backing out of any parking space or driveway.

And for those asking - I passed into Plat Status a long time ago. Our first sail was 9/4/98 - 09/7-98 Wow! I feel old. Sorry - that sounded like bragging. I wasn't. Wow, that's a lot of drinks of the day. :lmao: :rotfl2: :rotfl:
Our first cruise was Oct. 1999 on a 4 day on the Magic back when it sailed on Monday and Friday. We sailed 4 weeks after Hurricane Floyd and we were the 2nd sailing to go Castaway Cay since it was badly damaged during the storm. I remember being sad at all the landscaping that was destroyed because of all the salt water and then the sun beating down it the stuff was basically fried. They had put in well over $1M in new landscaping and you couldn't even tell. Also, we were supposed to have a deck 6 verandah cabin and when we arrived at port our cabin, along with many others, was out of commission since the cruise before us had 20 foot swells and water got into the cabins thru the verandah doors. We were put in a cat. 9 on deck 2, since we were on a CM rate I couldn't complain about our cabin change since it was booked knowing we could be put in any cabin. So even after all that we still keep coming back.
We liked it so much we went back in Feb. 2000 on a Wonder 3 day, that left of Thursday, along with my parents and they put us in a cat. 4. Since we also had friends sailing with us, we put DH in their cabin (on the reservation) and my parents, DD & I were in the other cabin and we were pleasantly surprised when we arrived at the port to get our cat. 4 cabin. That meant DH could sleep in our cabin. We had a blast on that cruise even tho it was cold.

So there you have our first cruises on each ship.
Look what you started Laura. :upsidedow I think the others should tell us about their first DCL cruise.

Its funny how 'colds' suddenly come around to everyone, here and in the USA, but be the turn in season, everyone I know has a cold, mild but also inconvenient. Mild sore throat, runny nose, fatigue, and a dry cough.

I had it, on Sunday, went to my chest, got over it generally today.

Just stopping by to say when you are booking your airlines make sure to check on Iceland Air. We just booked Minneapolis to London and then Barcelona to Minneapolis (stoppover for a couple of days in Iceland on the say back) for less than $1000 per person. They don't fly out of many places we found (Minneapolis and Boston are the only 2 I know of) but they were WAY cheaper than anything else we found.

And all these college discussions but nothing for the midwest colleges?

My coughing and hacking is from allergies and I have them year 'round at home. When I go to FL they are much better, as they are when I go overseas.

I'm so jealous of you going to Iceland for a couple of days. That's the next place on my list to go and I keep looking into it. It will probably wait until DD is in college since she doesn't want to go. :confused3
Iceland Air flies out of Boston, JFK, Orlando, Minneapolis, and Seattle. I've seen some really good rates to Europe. Now that I'm thinking maybe I will into it for next summer, I don't like the idea of driving to JFK but it wouldn't be the first time.

Sorry we haven't included midwest colleges, but DD wants to go to school in FL.

I have outdoor mold allergies and it's whatever is in our soil where we live that triggers it. There are a lot of people in this area that have them and when they go out of the area they are much better. Even with all the rain in FL this past summer I felt fine.

We just booked Delta nonstop to Heathrow. Iceland air involved a change of planes in Iceland and was $20 cheaper than Delta. Not worth the knocking around for that, but thanks for the tip. We just decided to book now as the fares seemed to be going up, not down.

We are as well. I need to contact her again for more ideas now that DCL has altered the times from when I first contacted again.
I certainly hope the arrival times gets changed again and we get in earlier. That 12:30 arrival time is a killer on touring and you lose more than half a day there.

Dover disembark at 9.30am looks incorrect?

11:30 would be a lot better than 12:30, that's for sure . . . I guess we won't know for sure until the beginning of the year or so but a 9:30 disembark in Dover sounds late (not that it matters to us since we will be staying on the ship, but we do plan to get off and see Dover Castle that day).

I am sure this is to do with time zones, they work out the average speed of the ship, and then on the draft schedule, post port times and agree these with the harbours. I think as its swinging about an hour back/forth, they didn't work out the effect of loosing a couple of hours going East, and gaining a couple of hours going West.

It must get finalised soon to tie up with shore trips, in fact most likely is finalised they just haven't updated their website. And example of this is the New CC Tiers and concierge, it hasn't said anything on the website but you are bumped to the earliest slot of you are concierge, it has said 105 days.

Yes, it seems impossible to believe that they don't already have pretty set port times at this relatively late date -- and the shore excursions should be out soon.

About a month back, they had a newspaper report on the Med and Baltic shore trips, so you would expect them to be agreed and in the can, just awaiting release now.

I made a change or two to accomodate a Metro train trip, they have a fabulous underground railway system.

Stalin said, that Russian tzars used to built Palaces for themselves, while Communists build palaces for people. And it is really so, St. Petersburg metro stations resemble more palace interiors, than regular subway tunnels. The interiors are decorated with mosaics, marble, crystals and outstanding chandaliers.

Well there is logic to that, it could save a lot on costs, and maybe greater safety. In the Med I combined with Sally and Jimmy and it worked very well.

Far better than DCL tours in flexibility, access, and cost.

Yes would be nice to go around in a group, maybe, I am awaiting the release of Baltic shore trips, will be interesting what they do for Berlin, its a long way, thats why they extended port times there to 8.30pm, I think its 3>4 hours away, most operators go by train there/back, then a coach tour, not sure if DCL, will do that.

The others are straight forward enough, looking for the Disney touch.

I have already made a provisional booking for private tours in the Med for 2011, Rome and Naples, they looked after me well on thoose ones, we are far better off than any DCL tour, we saw them everywhere, will do DCL in the other ports, but change the places we visit.

With the Olympics in London in 2012, thats an ideal time to break from DCL, and do something different.
We always keep our hands in other stuff, Venice this year, Rhodes in 2010, with the Mrs wanting to travel on plane less and restrictions on time off, IE two weeks not three weeks, USA seems to be out now!

Celestine

Also waiting for DCL so we can decide. St Pete's is the only port we are contemplating using DCL, will do all the others on our own, so it will be good to see what they offer and what $$$ they want for the priviledge.

Have decided not to book Alaska although I am still keen to see it. Just can't justify DCL sitting on $2400 for almost 2 years. The timing really doesn't work either, so we'll sit tight & hope they revisit in 2012.

Am lurking occassionally, but this new job is filling more hours than I actually have which makes for some interesting juggling! Can't wait for our 6 night Orlando break (sans kids) at the end of November to do a bit of Xmas shopping & generally chill & see things you miss when you whirlwind with the kids!!!

The Hermitage Don't recommend with the little ones, too crowded.
Peter and Paul Fortress Didn't go there.
City Tour This you can get just by going from site to site.
St.Nickolas Cathedral, - Didn't go inside, saw it a couple of times driving by each day. Tsarskoye Selo (Tzars' Village) - Saw this when we went to Catherine's Palace
Tsarskoye Selo tour (City of Pushkin). Saw this when we went to Catherine's Palace Catherine's Palace, Interesting to see since it has been totally restored from being looted. The amber room is stunning.
Peterhof tour (or Petrodvorets). Park tour. We just toured the fountains and grounds, interesting for the little ones.
downtown. Metro trip. Loved the subway stations and ride. Stations are stunning with all the crystal, artwork, and statues. My only regret was that we didn't have our guide buy us a couple of extra subway tokens as a souvenier. The ride was CHEAP, maybe 20¢, so the token would have been a really cheap souvenier.
Savior on the Spilt Blood. Interesting cathedral, gorgeous walls and ceilings. We were there when they were holding mass and it was interesting to see how they were held. History behind the cathedral is also intersting. This is across from a park that has very ornate iron railings and gates.
St.Isaac's Cathedral visit. Another stunning interior and also an interesting war history.

We also did Yusopov's Palace since DD had studied Rasputin and knew his history. It was such a contrast to the palaces that are located outside of the city, but still interesting. It's not a stop that many first timers go to, but we thought it was well worth the stop. There is a small theater inside the palace that is still in use today.
We also stopped at the post office which was quite intersting to see. Not that anyone should stop there, but if you need to use an ATM it was handy. We stopped there on Sunday morning at it was open. That was interesting in itself.

Keep in mind, in many of the venues they charge you a fee to use your camera or video camera inside. The typical cost is $4 for a still camera and $12 for a video camera. We did pay the fee since we felt it was worth it and in the entire scheme of things it didn't add much to our tour cost.

We are there on the weekend so it's great traffic-wise, there won't be much in the city.

The hydrofoil is a faster way to get back to the city from Pushkin, where Catherine's Palace is located and also nearby is Peterhof Palace. We opted to not do it since it was the weekend and there was no traffic.

She will combine groups if you ask her to. If everyone wants to see the same things on day 2 and not on day 1 I would think she could combine your tours for the 2nd day, but an not sure.
We had 12 people in our group and our van could have held 14 people. We liked the size of our group, it was the right amount of people to keep up with and we all had kids in the same age range.

For lunch the 1st day 2 families ate at the cafe at Peterhof Palace and the other family brought food from the ship. The 2nd day the same 2 families ate at Stolli Pie Shop and the same family brought their lunch again and ate in the van while we were in the pie shop.
I think lunch for the 3 of us at Peterhof, including 1 beer, was around $15 and lunch at Stolli for the 3 of us was around $10.

THANK YOU for the information.:thumbsup2

Glad I got the Metro train bit right!!!!:)

YOu are welcome. I did forget to mention NO picture taking in the metro station!!! YOur guide will remind you of this several times and I think there were signs posted in the stations that we saw. It's not worth the risk of having your camera confiscated or being carted off to jail for a couple of pics. When we went we left everything in the van with the driver as per our guide's request. She said we didn't need to take any chances of getting anything stolen from us. Plus there was no risk of picture taking temptation since we didn't have cameras with us.
None of us felt unsafe in the metro stations. In fact, since it was the weekend they weren't very crowded at all.

Here's the link to the Stolle pie shop: http://www.stolle.ru/eng/main.html
I'm disappointed that they changed their website and don't list the eat in menus, just the menus for the whole pies. I had the salmon pie, which I wasn't thrilled with, DH had either a chicken or pork pie, DD had a salad. We also split a cabbage pie which was extremely good, I wished I had gotten just that instead of the salmon pie. We also split a lemon pie and we were lucky to get that since it was the last piece.
The exchange rate was in the range of 25 rubles = $1.
The pics of the pies posted below are for the small slice.

Definitely plan on eating local on this trip when we can.

Figuring out what we can afford to cram into St. Petersburg is a challenge:rolleyes1

The only Disney excursion I think we might go with would be a Berlin trip to make sure we don't miss the boat. But my family might balk at the 3 hour transport each way so that may change.

'Morning

You are welcome. I think lemon was the only sweet pie they had left and we got the last piece, but they may have had another flavor and we didn't have our guide ask. Our guide had to do our ordering for us since no one spoke English in the restaurant, so we ordered everything at once. The menu was in English as well as Russian so at least we could figure out what to order. We could have done a planned proper sit down lunch but it would have taken longer and it's basically a set menu and we all liked the idea of menu choices and just stopping when we wanted to and at any point in the day.
Now thinking back I wish I had asked for a copy of the menu or taken a pic of it....oh well....
At the cafe at Peterhof Palace nothing was written in English and our guide translated for us - it was cafeteria style so we could mostly figure out what we were getting. She did have to order a couple of things for us, like our drinks.

On the first day none of us had any rubles and Anastasia sent some with our guide to cover meals, bathrooms (if needed), and any other costs that came about that could only be paid in local currency. Jane (guide) held onto the receipts and wrote our names on and we just repaid her the next day once we went to an atm at the post office.

I paid for our tour with clean, crisp $50 & $100 bills, the other families used a credit card and she charged them an additional 3% fee for this service but that extra charge was known in advance. We had rubles leftover so we tipped our driver with them and we gave our guide US$.
I think we tipped the driver $10/person and the guide was tipped about $20-$25/person. This amount was based on what most people were tipping the private guides when asked on cruise critic. I also brought Anastasia and our guide each a book about Delaware - it was a small paperback book with pics of local sights around the state. They were both most appreciative that we thought to take them something like that - I had put a little note to the effect we wanted to share something where we came from since they shared with us where they are from. Our guide had spend time in the states and travelled between NYC and Wash DC so she at least knew where DE was.

EUREKA....I've found it.
I found out this morning that I still had a copy of our 2 day tour plan with Anastasia still in my old email folder. If anyone would like me to email them a copy I would be happy to do so, just PM me your email.

I'll give you the prices that she charged us: $242.55/adult and $207.55/student. She did the student pricing for 6 kids in our group, ages 14-20, they were high school and college. I just rounded up our cost to $700 to make it easier to give her crisp $50 & $100 bills. This price was based on 6 adults and 6 students. Also, the camera fees were not included in the stated cost and were paid at each venue.
When I first priced our a tour with her for just the 3 of us it was around $350/person. So adding the additional people to our group saved us about $350. When I priced out the tour Carnival offered that came close to what we did we saved about $500.

Yes, in line with mine I think the estimated quote on 2009 prices is $1,250, but she will let me know in 2010, what 2010 prices are.

Maybe we should see who wants to join up, or leave it to her?

I looked over many travel guidebooks, a Hermitage museum huge book, the Carnival excursion lists, and the tours on Anastasia's website to figure out where we wanted to go and what we wanted to drop. Early release is more like afternoon imprisonment for the adults. (If you ask me)

As for St. Petersburg - Barb? I lost my dino computer, can you resend me the link to Anastasia. If we go - would rather go private. And another question, are atm's hard to come by? You mentioned Post Office, are there other places easy to access or was this just the most convenient one?

Thanks. Looks like our April trip to Paris, Amsterdam and Brussels might be cancelled as the trip coordinator came down with pancreatic cancer. The other 2 "teachers" acted more like ladies on a trip with their girlfriends (students) and this put an awful taste in mine and April's mouth. Looks like I might have more $$ for our Baltic trip. :yay: Any little bit helps.

Laura sent you an email with the info.
I didn't really look for atm's when we were there since we were just going to pay in US$ or euros for our purchases, but since we saw the one at the post office we thought it would be neat to get some rubles and spend them. I know there was one right inside Yusopov's Palace next to the ticket office. I wonder what he would have thought of an atm being placed inside his palace? :confused3 :rotfl2: We would have used that one but we didn't have our atm card with us. Another family needed to exchange US$ for rubles and we stopped by the Grand Hotel so they could do that. Since we were a small group we could have our guide ask the driver to these things for us.

Sorry to hear about your April trip.

If you end up staying there you and, more importantly, DW will like it. The hotel is very modern and the rooms and large by European standards. We had a king bed and they brought in a roll away and there was still plenty of room to walk.
